Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 11 of Temporary Home. I hope that this chapter turned out okay. I hope I just turned out alright. This is going to be a bumpy ride for Aeron with Dean. Enough rambling from me. Without further ado Chapter 11.
Chapter 11
Dean let out a soft sigh. "He said that he wanted me to watch out for you, to take care of you."
"He told you that a million times." Sam said, looking at Dean in confusion. What was so different this time?He wanted to know the truth.
"No, this time was different. He said that I had to save you."
"Save me from what?"
"He just said that I had to save you, that nothing else mattered. And that if I couldn't, I'd…"
Aeron got up to her feet. She had a feeling that she shouldn't be hearing this. She dusted her pants off and went towards the Impala to get into it.
"You'd what, Dean?" Sam asked, confusion laced over his voice.
"That I'd have to kill you. He said that I might have to kill you, Sammy." Dean said softly.
Aeron went rigid. No. John couldn't have asked that. He couldn't have asked Dean to do that to his own brother. That was worse than committing your own suicide in her eyes.
"Kill me? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Dean let out a soft sigh. "I don't know."
"I mean, he must have had some kind of reason for saying it, right? Did he know the demon's plans for me? Am I supposed to go to Darkside or something? What else did he say, Dean?" Sam demanded. His anger getting the best of him.
"Nothing, that's it, I swear." Dean told Sam.
"How could you not have told me this? Or hell, even Aeron." Sam hissed out his eyes narrowing at his older brother.
"Don't you dare bring me into this Sam." Aeron said from where she stood. "This is between the two of you. Not me and you two."
Sam looked at Aeron and saw the look that was on her face. He felt bad to drag her into this.
"Because it was dad, and he begged me not to." Dean told Sam.
"Who cares?! Take some responsibility for yourself, Dean! You had no right to keep this from me!" Sam shouted in anger. He was upset that his own brother would do this to him. Hell, what made him even angrier was that Dean didn't tell Aeron what was going on.
"You think I wanted this? Huh? I wish to God he'd never opened his mouth. Then I wouldn't have to walk around with this screaming in my head all day." Dean snapped at his brother.
Sam turned away from him and took a few steps away from him. He was pissed. He kind of wished that his father didn't say it either. It just showed him how much faith he had in him. "We've just got to figure out what's going on, then, what the hell all this means."
"We do? I've been thinking about this, I think we should just lay low. You know? At least for a while. It'd be safer. And that way I can make sure…"
"What? That I don't turn evil? That I don't turn into some kind of killer?"
Dean looked at his little brother in shock. "I never said that."
"Jeez, if you're not careful you will have to waste me one day, Dean." Sam hissed at his brother looking at him sharply.
"I never said that! Damn it, Sam, this whole thing is spinning out of control. Alright? You're immune to some weirdo demon virus, and I don't even know what the hell anymore. And you're pissed at me, I get it. That's fine, I deserve it. But we lay low until we figure out our next move, okay?"
"Forget it."
"Sam, please, man. Hey, please. Just give me some time. Give me some time to think, okay? I'm begging you here, please. Please?"
Sam nodded his head reluctantly knowing that his brother was right. He looked at Aeron. "I'm sorry."
"It's fine Sam." Aeron said softly. "You had every right to be upset."

Sam packed his bag up. He looked over at his brother who was sound asleep in his bed. He slung it over his shoulder and looked at the woman that was sound asleep on the couch. He had put her through so much worry in days past. He also had dragged her into something that he should have never dragged her into. She was just trying to help him where she could without screwing up herself. Hell she had trusted him with the truth of why the hell she was alive and not dead. He had to admit that she had a harder life than he and Dean had, but he had no right to hurt her. Not like he had by bringing her into something that she wanted nothing part of.
He slowly walked over and leaned over, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. He was going to miss her while he went out to do what he was going to do without his own brother and her. He went to the door and walked out of the motel room. He needed to do this on his own. He needed to find others that were like him.

"Damn it." Dean hissed, throwing his phone into his coat pocket.
Aeron looked at him from the passenger seat. "What is it Dean?" She asked in confusion.
"Ellen hasn't seen him. I was certain that he would show up there."
"She said she would call if he shows?"
"I hope so."
"Dean…"
"What?"
"We have to talk about how you've been treating me."
"What about it?"
"Why do you hate me so much?" Aeron asked, fiddling with the edge of her green tank that she wore.
"Hate you?"
"You treat me like shit Dean. You treat me like I am a damn burden on hunts. That you want me to not even be part of them. I know John's gone Dean, but it was his choice. Or is it because my own brother made a deal with a demon to keep me from dying of Cancer. That my own brother thought that I deserved to hunt. He thought that I deserved to live longer than 14 or 15 years. He sold his soul so I could continue living. I didn't ask for it." She shook her head. "He only got six months. Gone to the crossroads only to get six months."
Dean looked at her with wide eyes.
"So don't tell me I don't know shit. Or that I am stupid okay? Treat me like an equal and not someone that gets in your way."
Dean continued to drive down the road. He was going to have to think about what she had said.
Aeron pulled out her cell phone and dialed up Ash's number.
"Hello?"
"Ash you better have some kind of news for me."
"Annie. I wasn't expecting a call from you." Ash said nervously.
"Ash… why do you sound like you got your hand caught in a cookie jar?" She asked, quaking her eyebrow.
"What? No."
"Ash… is Sam there?"
"No, what gives you that idea?"
Aeron let out a sigh. "You know what happens when you lie to me, Asher."
"You will cut my hair off."
"That's right. Now tell me the truth. Was Sam there?"
"No, Annie he hasn't."
Aeron let out a soft sigh. "Alright thanks."
"Sorry that I couldn't tell you he was here."
"It's fine Ash. Tell me if he does show up."
"I will Annie."
"Bye." She hung up her phone.
"Well?"
"Ash says he's not there like Ellen had told us. Sam doesn't want to be found."
Dean let out a sigh.
"But you know… I have a feeling that Ash wasn't telling me the truth. He sounded like a child with his hand caught in the cookie jar. If you get my drift."
"You think Sammy's there?" Dean asked, looking at her out of the corner of his eyes.
"I don't know, but I have the feeling that maybe Sam is at the roadhouse and he just doesn't want us to know."
Dean hit the steering wheel upset. "This is the stupidest thing that he could have ever done."
"Dean, maybe he thought that he was thinking he was doing the right thing."
SNSNSN
Night had come and Dean was driving down the road. His phone began to ring. He picked it up. "Hello?"
"It's Ellen."
"Hey, have you heard from Sam?"
"I have, but he made me promise not to tell you where he is."
"Oh come on, Ellen please. Something bad could be going on here, and I swore I'd look after that kid."
Aeron rubbed her eyes, waking up upon hearing Ellen's name. She was exhausted. She had fallen asleep only just an hour beforehand and it was a hell of a note to fall asleep in the Impala.
"Now Dean, they say you can't protect your loved ones forever."
Dean let out a sigh. He knew that to be true, but Sam was only 23 years old.
"Well, I say screw that. What else is family for? He's in Lafayette, Indiana."
"Thanks." Dean hung up his cell phone and looked at Aeron.
"Were we going?" Aeron asked, looking at him tiredly.
"Lafayette, Indiana."
Aeron rubbed her face. "No rest for the wicked. Let's get your brother and bring him back."
"I hope that he is doing something stupid."

The ride was pretty quiet between Dean and Aeron when they pulled into the parking lot of the Blue Rose Motel.
Dean and Aeron got out of the car.
Dean let out a sigh of relief when he saw his brother. "Oh, thank god you're okay." Dean smiled when he saw that Sam was with a woman. "Oh, you're better than okay. Sam, you sly dog."
Aeron rolled her eyes. "Come on." She said grabbing onto his arm pulling him away from the motel. She jumped when she heard the glass shatter.
"Sammy."
"No Dean. We have to find the damn shooter."
The two of them went to go and find out who was firing on Sam.
SNSNSN
Gordon loaded his gun again and aimed.
"Gordon!" Dean and Aeron yelled.
Dean kicked Gordon hard to stop him from firing.
Gordon knocked Dean off of him and slammed the butt of his gun into Aeron's face.
Aeron tumbled onto the roof out cold thanks to the gun to the face.
Dean tackled Gordon onto the roof. He hit him in the face over and over again. He grabbed him by the collar. "You do that to my brother, I'll kill you!"
"Dean, wait." Gordon managed to grab the rifle slamming it into his face twice knocking him out. He got up off of the ground looking at the two knocked out hunters. He wiped his lip. He panted. He was going to have to do something with those two meddling hunters from stopping him from killing Sam Winchester.
SNSNSN
Gordon tied up Aeron and Dean to two different chairs. He gagged Aeron who was still out cold. Gordon picked up Dean's phone when it began to ring. He put it against Dean's ear.
"Hello?" Dean said tiredly.
"Dean!"
"Sam, I've been looking for you."
"Yeah. Look, I'm in Indiana, uh Lafayette."
"I know."
"You do?"
"Yeah, I talked to Ellen. Just got here myself with Aeron. It's a really funky town. You ditched us, Sammy."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. Look, right now there's someone after me."
"What? Who?"
"I don't know, that's what we need to find out. Where are you and Ry?"
"We're staying at, uh, 5637 Monroe St. Why don't you meet me here?"
"Yeah sure."
Gordon smirked looking at Dean with a smirk. "Now, was that so hard?"
"Bite me."
"Oh I wouldn't say that." Gordon looked at Aeron and saw that she was starting to wake again. He brought his hand back and slapped her hard causing her to black out. Her screams were muffled against the gag.
"You son of a bitch let her go. She didn't do anything to you."
"Oh she did though. Shot me with rock salt." Gordon said with narrowed eyes. He turned his back to Dean and opened up his bag. He began to pull out weapons.
"So Gordy, I know me, Sam, and Ryan aren't exactly your favorite people, but don't you think this is a little extreme?"
"What, you think this is revenge?"
"Well, we did leave you tied up in your own mess for three days." Dean laughed lightly. "Which was awesome. Sorry, I shouldn't laugh."
"Yeah. I was definitely planning on whipping your ass for that."
"Mm-hm."
"But that's not what this is. This isn't personal. I'm not a killer, Dean. I'm a hunter. And your brother's fair game." He said, slamming a knife into its sheath.
Dean looked at Gordon in shock. There was no way that he was going to allow Gordon to kill Sam or hurt Aeron anymore than she already was.
SNSNSN
Gordon leaned against a pillar holding a rifle. He had hit Aeron again with the butt of the gun knocking her out again. He wasn't going to have her awake for the little chit chat with Dean. "See,I was doing an exorcism down in Louisiana. Teenage girl, seemed routine, some low-level demon, But between all the jabbering and the head-spinning, the damn thing muttered something. About a coming war. And I don't think it meant to, it just kind of slipped out. But it was too late. Piqued my interest. And you can really make a demon talk, you got the right tools."
"And what happened to the girl it was possessing?"
"She didn't make it." Gordon said with a smile.
Dean shook his head. "Well, you son of a bitch."
Gordon stared at him, got up and slapped him. "That's my momma you're talking about. ANyway. This demon tells me there are soldiers to fight in this coming war. Humans, fighting on hell's side. You believe that? I mean, they're psychics, so they're not exactly pure humans, but still. What kind of worthless scumbag have you got to be to turn against your own race?"
Dean glared at him.
"But you know the biggest kick in the ass? The demons said I knew one of them. Our very own Sammy Winchester."
Dean chuckled. "Oh, this… this is a whole new level of moronic, even for you."
"Yeah? Come on, Dean. I know. About Sam's visions. I know everything."
"Really? Because a demon told you?" Dean laughed. "Yeah, and it wasn't lying."
"Hey Dean. I'm not some reckless yahoo, okay? I did my homework. Made damn sure it was true. Look, you've got your Roadhouse connections, I got mine. It's how I found Sammy in the first place." He walked over to the corner and sat down. "About a month ago I found another one of these freaks here in town. He could deep-fry a person by touching them."
"Yeah, did he kill anyone?"
"Well besides Mr. Tinkles the cat? No. But he was working up to it. They're all gonna be killers, Dean. We've got to take them all out. And that means Sammy too." He cocked the rifle.
"You think Sam's stupid enough to walk through that front door?"
"No, I don't. Especially since I'm sure you found a way to warn him. Ha. You really think I'm that stupid?"
Dean raised his eyebrows.
"No. Sammy's going to scope the place first, see me covering the front door. So he's going to take the back. And when he does he'll hit a tripwire. Then…" He pulled a grenade from his bag. "Boom."
"Sam's not gonna fall for a friggin' tripwire."
"Maybe you're right. That's why I'll have a second one. Hey, look. I'm sorry. I wish I didn't have to do this, I really do. But for what it's worth, it'll be quick."
SPNSPN
Gordon came back into the room after setting the tripwires up. He walked over to Dean and straddled a chair.
"Come on man. I know Sam, okay, better than anyone. He's got more of a conscience than I do, I mean, the guy feels guilty surfing the internet for porn." Dean said, rolling his eyes.
"Maybe you're right. But one day he's going to be a monster."
"How? Huh? How's a guy like Sam become a monster?"
"Beats me. But he will."
"No, you don't know that!"
"I'm surprised at you, Dean. Getting all emotional. I'd heard you were more of a professional than this. Look, let's say you were cruising around in that car of yours and, uh, you had little Hitler riding shotgun, right? Back when he was just some goofy, crappy artist. But you knew what he was going to turn into someday. You'd take him out, no questions, am I right?"
"That's not Sam."
"Yes it is. You just can't see it yet. Dean, it's his destiny. Look, I'm sympathetic. He's your brother, you love the guy. This has got to hurt like hell for you." He reached into his bag and pulled out a scarf. "But here's the thing." He put the scarf around Dean's mouth gagging him. "It would wreck him. But your dad? If it really came right down to it, he would have the stones to do the right thing here. But you're telling me you're not the man he is?"
Dean glared at Gordon furiously.
"And the whore you're with. I'll kill her next. She should have been dead years ago. That's why I almost had her killed the first time that I met her. I heard stories of how her brother gave his own soul to hellhounds to let his cancerous sister live."
That caused Dean to glare even more at him.
SNSNSN
Dean heard the clicking of Sam trying to get into the house that he was in with Aeron. He looked around wildly. He didn't want Sam to even come in here. Did he even have back up?
"Ya hear him?"
Sam slowly entered the back room creeping slowly trying his best not to alert Gordon that he was there.
"Here he comes."
Dean finished helplessly in his seat as the first grenade exploded. He screamed at Gordon through his gag. Tears came to his eyes.
"Hold on. Not yet. Just wait and see."
The second went off causing Aeron to come out of her daze.
Dean struggled violently, choking a sob back through the gag.
Aeron groaned through her gag.
Gordon crossed the room and stopped next to the two of them tied in the chairs. "Sorry Dean." He apologized to the older Winchester brother. He went to go to the back to check to see if Sam was truly dead. He had his rifle ready to go if he needed to shoot Sam to make sure that he was really dead. He saw the smoking boots on the ground. He smiled. He turned from the back door and saw Sam with a gun to his head and cocking it.
"Drop the gun." Sam said slowly in a warning tone.
"Shouldn't take your shoes off around here. You might get tetanus." Gordon told him smugly.
"Put it down now!" He shouted.
Gordon slowly lowered the rifle. "You wouldn't shoot me, would you, Sammy? Because your brother, he thinks you're some kind of saint."
"Yeah? Well, I wouldn't be so sure."
"See, that's what I said." He said turning quickly, knocking the gun out of his hand and attacked him until he was down. Gordon approached him slowly as Sam coughed. He pulled out his knife. "You're no better than the filthy things you hunt. As well as that red headed whore you team up with." He said, raising the knife.
Sam lashed out. There was no way that he was going to allow Aeron to be called a whore. He flipped Gordon over and was on top of him punching him twice. He grabbed the rifle and pointed it at his head.
"Do it. Do it! Show your brother and that whore the killer you really are, Sammy."
Sam hesitated and used the butt of the rifle slamming it into his head knocking him out. "It's Sam." He said fuming. He shuffled into the other room and saw that Aeron and Dean were tied up. He quickly walked over to Aeron untying her.
Aeron removed her gag. "Get your brother." She said slightly woozy.
Sam went over to his brother and clapped his brother's shoulder lightly. He quickly untied the ropes.
Dean pulled out his own gag. He stood up and pulled his brother up. He cupped his hand around Sam's neck. He looked at his brother over cataloging the injuries that his brother had.
Sam nodded his head. Sam clapped his hand on Dean's shoulder.
Dean turned on his heels. "That son of a…."
"Dean no."
"I let him live once. I'm not making the same mistake twice."
"Trust me. Gordon's taken care of. Come on." He fisted his brother's jacket and pushed him towards the door.
Aeron staggered towards them.
The three of them walked out of the cabin. Sam and Aeron staggered down the stairs of the cabin.
Gordon soon followed them out with a set of guns in his hands. He began to fire his guns.
Sam, Dean, and Aeron ducked and ran for cover. The brother's heard Aeron shriek. They turned sharply towards her.
Sam quickly pulled her to him and lifted her up a bit and followed his brother quickly.
"Come on! You call this ``taken care of?" Dean shouted at Sam.
The three of them dived into a ditch.
Sam's hand clapped over Aeron's mouth to keep her from screaming out.
She turned a little bit and moved his hand. She buried her face into his flannel.
"What the hell are we doing?" Dean questioned quietly as they watched him approach.
"Just trust me on this, alright?"
Gordon approached and three police cars showed up surrounding Gordon.
"Drop your weapons! Get down on your knees!"
"Do it, now!"
The cops cuffed Gordon and patted him down after he had done what they had told him to. They loaded him into the squad car.
Sam looked at Dean and Aeron. "Anonymous tip." Sam said with a small smile.
"You're a fine upstanding citizen Sam." Dean said, chuckling lightly.
"Boys…" Aeorn said softly looking at the two of them. "Perhaps we can get my leg taken care of please."
The boys looked at the petite redhead that they were with. Yeah they were going to have to fix her up.
SNSNSN
Sam fixed Aeron's leg up while his brother was on the phone with Ellen.
"Yeah, he almost killed the three of us because somebody over there can't keep their friggin' mouth shut." Dean said agitatedly. "Well, who else knows about Sam, huh?" Dean looked at his brother who finished bandaging up Aeron's leg and was looking at his phone. "I mean, you must have been talking to somebody." Dean looked away from the two young hunters as he saw Aeron thank Sam with a kiss on the cheek instead of a pat on the shoulder. "Gordon said he had Roadhouse connections, Ellen." He hung up his phone after Ellen finished talking to him. He got into the car.
"Sam… you should try to call her again." Aeron said, looking at him.
Sam nodded his head.
SNSNSN
Sam had tried to call Ava again. "Hey, Ava, it's Sam. Again. Um, call me when you get this, just want to make sure you got home okay. Alright. Bye." He hung up his cell phone again.
"Everything alright?" Dean asked, looking over at his little brother.
"Yeah, I hope so."
"Well, Gordon should be reaching for the soap for the next few years at least."
"Yeah. If they pin Scott Carey's murder on him. And he doesn't bust out."
Aeron shook her head.
"Dude, you ever take off like that again…"
"What? You'll kill me?"
"That is so not funny." Dean said, narrowing his eyes at his little brother. "Though Red might shoot you with rock salt."
Sam shook his head. "Alright. Alright. So where to next?"
"One word. Amsterdam."
"Dean." Both of the young hunters said at the same time.
"Come on, man, I hear the coffee shops don't even serve coffee."
"I'm not just gonna ditch the job."
"And I am not going to Amsterdam for reefer brownies."
"Screw the job. Screw it man, I'm sick of the job anyway. I mean, we don't get paid, we don't get thanked. The only we think we get bad luck."
"Well, come on dude, you're a hunter. I mean, it's what you were meant to do as much as Aeron's."
"Ah, I wasn't meant to do anything. I don't believe in that destiny crap." Dean said, shaking his head.
"You mean you don't believe in my destiny." Sam snapped back.
"Yeah, whatever."
"Look, Dean. I've tried running before. I mean, I ran all the way to California and looked at what happened. You can't run from this. And you can't protect me."
Dean looked at him. "I can try."
"Thanks for that." Sam said softly.
Dean nodded his head.
"Look, Dean, I'm gonna keep hunting. I mean, whatever is coming, I'm taking it head on. So if you really want to watch my back, then I guess you're gonna have to stick around."
"Bitch."
"Jerk."
The two of them grinned at one another.
Sam frowned and then picked up his phone.
"You calling that Ava girl again? Are you sweet on her or something?" Dean questioned his brother.
"She's engaged, Dean."
"So? What's the point in saving the world if you can't get a little nookie once in a while huh?"
"Oh come on, Dean , grow up." Aeron said, rolling her eyes. "Saving the world isn't about sex." She shook her head.
Sam hung up the phone scowling.
"What?"
"Just a feeling. How far is it to Peoria?" Sam asked, looking at Dean.
SNSNSN
Sam, Dean, and Aeron broke into Ava's house. They slowly entered, shining their flashlights looking around.
"Hello? Is anybody home?" Sam called out.
They slowly went to the bedroom and Ava's fiance was dead covered in blood.
"Oh my god." Sam said in shock.
Dean went over to the window and ran his finger over it. "Hey."
Sam and Aeron looked over at Dean.
"Sulfur. Demon's been here."
Sam saw something on the floor. He kneeled down and picked up Ava's engagement ring. "Ava." Sam whispered.
Aeron looked at the two brothers. "We need to go. Maybe call the cops for him." Aeron said looking over at the poor fiance who had possibly died when Ava had been taken. She hated seeing things like this as couples getting torn apart from one another.
Sam nodded his head. "Let's do that. Let's get to the car first."
Aeron began to limp towards the door. She rubbed her sore leg. She was going to one of these days kill Gordon for what he did. But it was too late for that. He was sitting in jail. Where he belonged.
The three of them left Ava's house. The three of them knew that they had to try and find Ava and they had a lot of work for them to do.
