"That's beside the point anyway, we aren't discussing plans at the moment. We need to discuss something else." Izuku followed through. He was going to sound insane. But he has to talk about this.
"Before any of that, Izuku, I have to ask… Are there any drawbacks to Singularity-type quirks? I mean, there has to be something, right?" Toshinori, who knew what power without limits was, thanks to AFO, knew that there was something about the new quirk type that Izuku was hiding.
"You hit right on the topic I was wanting to bring up before Mom asked the question that opened Pandora's Box. To answer your unasked question, it was a hastily thought-out plan that I just came up with last night. I still need to refine it." There was the fear again- the planning that he called hasty would've fooled others effortlessly.
"But I digress. The drawback, as you call it, is more of a side-effect, since, well, it doesn't drag you down unless you let it. The side effect of a Singularity-type quirk occurs at the awakening. Remember when I gave the third condition for an awakening?" They did, vividly. "That's the key- The side-effect of a Singularity-type awakening is the fact that your personality is warped quite irrevocably."
Toshinori started looking into his personality at that, wondering what changed within him, as the price of his quirk. "My recklessness, and my disregard for the finer details of life and people. I didn't have that before I got OFA. That's what changed for me, hasn't it?"
"Yes, well, I can't deny that. What happened to me was much worse. I gained a, you could say, rather dark alter ego. My dark side, which influences me to take more practical solutions to issues. For example- You have a car blocking your way and the driver is rather uncooperative. Pre Awakening me would've just tried driving through a different route. Dark me would use a wind blade to cut the car and driver in half. Current me would use wind again, but to move the car away.
"That said, I'm often the voice of reason. Which is why Tsukasa here tends to act more chaotically… We both need someone to bring out the menacing side of ourselves. Of course, the decoy plan was something we still need to refine but the groundwork is easy enough to lay."
"Can you even predict how the personality of a Singularity-type will change?" Toshinori asked. He did have a valid point. It would work easier if someone could handedly predict the changes.
"No, that depends on two factors- The emotion responsible for the awakening, and the quirk awakened in question. The emotion decides the type of effect- positive emotions generally have a positive effect while negative emotions have a negative effect. The quirk that is awakened is the warping factor, but sometimes the emotion might affect both as well… That many factors is impossible to predict, but if the situation of awakening is known then Io can positively predict the way it affects the user- that is, whether it affected them positively or not. If I knew their passions, then I could probably guess the actual effect, but even I can be wrong- so you're better off not asking. OFA users look to be heroic, so no problem there. Your best bet is actually talking to someone about whatever they're feeling, to understand how they change.
"That said, I need more information, Toshinori- Who else knows of OFA? And who of them has been the biggest help?" Izuku needed to know who he would even trust at the moment with this kinda information.
"Well, there is Nezu, then there is Gran Torino-sensei, then there is UA's healer, Recovery Girl, then there is Naomasa Tsukauchi… I think, of all of them, Nezu would be the biggest help…" Toshinori didn't see the dark expression on Izuku's face.
"So, your support technician isn't part of the loop?" Now he saw it. It was scary, and Inko knew never to make him angry. Toshinori swore to never make him angry. Tsukasa just knew that he wouldn't hurt them, so he enjoyed the scene. Toshinori looked comical as he sweated nervously, having shrunk down in fear.
"Dave is my best friend, and he does have a family… I just don't wanna hurt those who I consider my family…" He trailed off at the expression growing stormier…
"OK I understand not wanting to put those you care, so please tell me that you think of this Dave- I'm guessing David Shield- and his family to be as good as your own… because that's the only way to make that remark of yours acceptable…" The storminess receded, but his tone still had a hint of anger.
Toshinori buffed up again, this time in vigor, wanting to state just how serious his statement was, when he saw Izuku sigh.
"I get it, then… doesn't change just how stupid that was as an executive decision, there are many ways to use OFA's strength in different ways, ways that an inventor of David Motherfucking Shield's level would be able to not only see, but implement effectively! But, I get it." he ranted.
"Well we're changing that… You're going to tell him the truth and I'm not sure you won't sugarcoat stuff, so I'm coming with you… Besides, I might meet his successor, and that would help me with support equipment, though the decoy's also gonna need help with controlling the output at first… You didn't think just handing the person all that stored energy would be a good thing, did you?" he added with a sharp look at Toshinori.
Now that Toshinori thought about it, he did feel stupid about that. Things after that quickly ended, since Izuku assured both of them that his plans would work without anyone but the planner knowing about it. He did state that talking about ANYTHING that they discussed with anyone outside the group is strictly forbidden, since it was a secret bigger than even classified national secrets.
Izuku and Toshinori headed out for training- he planned on strengthening his body further to give off the illusion of actually working out. He was returning his body to its true base form in 7 months, to receive OFA after all, and he needed to be in top form… Of course, he was going to 'discover' his Elemental Mastery quirk within 3 days from that conversation, to give off a second illusion of his ability. It would be registered as an actual quirk, and would let him get rid of the bullying.
A month passed and Toshinori and Izuku were on a private plane, headed straight to the technologically advanced (for that world's standards, Izuku had seen much more advanced technology) I-Island. Inko wasn't coming, she wanted to have a talk with Mitsuki about Katsuki, and Tsukasa was going to be available regardless… he basically was hanging onto Izuku as a connection anyway.
In that month, Tsukasa had confided to both hero and parent, with Izuku's permission, about the mental state he had been found in. Tsukasa found himself lucky that Izuku himself was willing to talk to him like an adult, since his forced maturation had left him broken, something he still wanted to tear Katsuki into a thousand pieces of wolf meat for. He only conceded to Izuku because the catharsis would be freeing for him.
As the plane landed, Izuku could only smile, since his plans were coming along nicely… He just never realized that his plans were going to be changed in a rather nice way…
All right, I get it, this is an update that was not really needed... That said, I really needed to get this one out, since I really have a plan for this particular fic already in mind- I can see every step of the way, now I just have to execute it...
