A/N: This is not The Tales of version of Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods or Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes, but rather The Tales of version of a book I got of Greek and Roman Mythology I got in Rome Italy. The settings will be after 'The Tales of the Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus' so please read that before getting in this story. Think of this story as something to pass by until The Trials of Apollo books.

Alcyone

First lesson taught in Camp Half-Blood: never, and I mean NEVER, compare yourself to the gods unless you are making yourself insignificant to them. Otherwise the gods take it as an insult. Especially the King and Queen of Olympus themselves.

Alcyone and her husband never was taught this lesson.

Alcyone was the daughter of Aeolus (no not the lord of the winds, but his grandfather) who married a guy name Ceyx. They were so happy that they compared themselves to Zeus and Hera. Annoyed at such pride, the divinities changed them into birds, a diver and halcyon respectively. Although I guess Hera was mostly behind it since Alcyone made her nest at the edge of the sea and the waves continually destroyed it, Zeus commanded that the waves be calm during the seven days when the halcyon was hatching her eggs. Dad must felt sympathetic too since seas was his domain. Sailors call these the halcyon days, when storms are unknown.

In a version Ovid version, Ceyx died in a shipwreck. Alycone found his body washed up on the shore and in her despair she was changed into a halcyon, as was her husband-most likely out of pity.

Next up is the bane of Hades/Pluto himself although the stories on this guy don't start that way. As well as a mortal of the same name that was sacrificed in order to stop Lamia only for a man in love with the person offered to take his place.
