...
Two days before the full moon Harrison felt antsy. His skin felt as if there were ants crawling and trying to burrow into it. Already he had almost thrown Weasley across the Great Hall when he tried to touch him. That to his annoyance got points taken away.
This morning he was sitting with Neville when breakfast appeared before them. Harrison grabbed the eggs that were closest to him. As he was putting them on his plate he caught a wiff of something that set his teeth on edge.
Neville noticing his stiffness asked, "Harrison what's wrong?"
"There is something wrong with the eggs," he growled.
Neville frowned and took them from him. He tried to cast a few diagnostic charms on them. The problem wasn't his magic but the wand that he was using. They had talked about it together a couple of times.
Apparently Neville's Grandmother saw him as a replica of his father. It wasn't the same way as Snape saw Harrison. Snape hated Harrison for unknown reasons and at this point Harrison's own feelings were apathetic towards the Professor. Neville's Grandmother wanted Neville to be just like Frank. She refused to let him get his own wand despite knowing that it didn't work right for him. This pissed Harrison off. Hand me downs because of financial reasons was one thing. This was being incompetent for the sake of being incompetent. If he ever met her she was going to get a piece of his mind.
Harrison felt what had to be his wolf shift and snap within him. His magic was reacting accordingly. It was angry and murderous about something in the eggs. If his magic wasn't acting as if someone insulted his mother or friends then he might be able to cast the diagnostic charms himself. Unfortunately there would be no wrangling in his magic right now.
Harrison stood and placed the bowl back on the table so that he could leave the Great Hall. Staying would only make things more dangerous for those around him. If the school found out about his heritage the Ministry would soon follow. Then they would be hunted down like animals. Again.
So far Dumbledore hadn't gone to the Ministry with his findings. From what he understood it was because they thought the old man had gone off his rocker. Internally Harrison had to agree with the Prophet. The more he learned about the man's indiscretions and manipulations the more he dislikes Dumbledore. He would forever be grateful towards his Great Uncle for taking him out from under the old man.
Neville stood with him and whispered,"Harrison your eyes."
Damn it. They must be showing his wolf. Things were not going his way this morning. He had to get to the forest. It wasn't safe for him within the castle.
To Neville he said, "Take Hedwig and send a message of it's happening. Tell Hedwig to take it to Tyler. She will know what you mean."
"Harry," Neville tried but he was already shuffling away from the castle.
With any luck the message would reach Tyler in time.
...
Tyler felt as if he would jump out of his skin with the need to go for a run. It wasn't safe to do that here. Too many humans that weren't aware of his existence.
In the last week in preparation for the full moon Tyler, Sherman, Donner, and Willard had taken up rooms in the Three Broomsticks. Strange and uneasy looks were shot their way but the four men ignored them. Each could feel the tugging of the impending change. Tyler and Donner for their ties to the pup. Sherman and Willard for their positions.
Donner growled his eyes flashing the tarnished gold of the wolf, "Tyler sit down. You are setting my teeth on edge."
"Fuck you, Donner," snarled back Tyler his own wolf jumping forward.
In the pack bond their wolves were snapping at each other. If either were to change it would turn into a bloodbath. Sherman immediately put himself between the two. Cool eyes met his first a calming aura pouring off of him. Then they met Donner's. Together they took a breath and released it before stepping back.
Tensions were high and this was not the time for infighting. A strong collective front was needed otherwise more harm than good would come of their work. Then he felt it. Harrison's presence within his mind angry, confused. Panicked.
All the emotions rolled about in his head setting his teeth on edge. Tyler fried to reach out towards his mate only to be met with more emotions. Now including pain.
Fuck. He was shifting.
By the look on the other's faces they knew what he was going to say. All three were out the door without a word. They followed the emotions like a beacon towards the pup.
