A/N: This is not The Tales of version of Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods or Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes, but rather The Tales of version of a book I got of Greek and Roman Mythology I got in Rome Italy. The settings will be after 'The Tales of the Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus' so please read that before getting in this story. Think of this story as something to pass by until The Trials of Apollo books.
Alpheus
Well I'm still alive so Athena isn't too angry with me, or at least no more than usual. Good thing because not allo of us could be lucky or immortal like Alpheus. Although even if I was I'm sure I would still face punishment.
Alpheus is a river god of a river that runs between Elis and Arcadia in the Peloponnese. He is the son of Oceanus and Tethys. His children are said to be Orsilochus, the king of Phere in Messenia and, in some accounts, Phegeus of Arcadia. And Alpheus was in love with Artemis.
Yeah, you heard me right.
One day when Artemis and her Nymphs were celebrating a festival at Letrinoi Alpheus tried to approach her. Artemis must have been in a good mood toward men or something because she smeared her face with mud instead of threatening him. Alpheus actually fell for that disguise and failed to recognize her. Now there is another version that says that Alpheus pursued Artemis as far as Ortygia, which lies off the coast of Sicilly.
Now Artemis wasn't the only one who Alpheus fell for. He also loved Arethusa the Nymph, and he turned himself into a hunter inorder to follow her. She fled to Ortygia, and Alpheus went after her. Arethusa was then changed into a spring and for love of her Alpheus mingled his waters with hers.
It was also said Alpheus was also the river which Heracles used to flush out the stables of Augias, but I know a Naiad in Texas that can say otherwise.
But that's the unlucky love life of Alpheus. Compared to others I say he got lucky.
Next is a giant who apparently thought he could take on Dionysus. Oh boy.
A/N: Good news. 75 names been added to this story (Prologue not included). And yet I'm still not done with the As. Still I'm getting there.
