A/N: This is not The Tales of version of Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods or Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes, but rather The Tales of version of a book I got of Greek and Roman Mythology I got in Rome Italy. The settings will be after 'The Tales of the Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus' so please read that before getting in this story. Think of this story as something to pass by until The Trials of Apollo books.
Amazons
Oh boy. Let me tell you, the Amazons are not the type of women you want to be your enemy. Frank Hazel and I were held captive by them once and although it ended well, and I consider the current queen like a sister, I rather be on their good side if I hope to stay alive or not become one of their slaves.
If you haven't guessed it by now, the Amazons started off as a race of warrior women. Their kingdom was in the north on the boundaries of the civilized world. They conducted their own government, they were ruled by a queen; they could not stand the presence of men except as servants; at certain times they had intercourse with strangers to preserve their race, keeping only the baby girls. They removed one of the breasts of the infant girls so that they should be able to shoot with the bow or to handle a spear.
Several heroes had encountered the Amazons in ancient times from my half-brother Bellerophon at the command of Iobates, to Heracles trying to complete one of his tasks of taking the girdle of Hippolyta. Interesting fact: Hippolyta would have been willing to give Heracles the girdle, but Hera incited the Amazons to mutiny and Heracles was forced to kill Hippolyta. Another well known half-brother of mine Theseus was with Heracles, but Theseus abducted an Amazon called Antiope in an act of revenge for the Amazons march against Athens. Amazons were defeated by Theseus and his Athenian army.
If you remember from my chapter on Achilles, some stories say the Amazons under the command of Penthesilea took part in the Trojan war to help Priam. During which Penthesilea fought Achilles and was killed but Achilles was said to fall for her.
The Amazons were known to worship Artemis above all gods and were said to be the founders of Ephesus and builders of the great temple of Artemis. They even based much of their lifestyle after Artemis.
All I can say is if you ever find yourself in an Amazon hideout, you better have a female with you to help you negotiate your freedom with them.
Next is a love interest of Dionysus who fell to his death only to be changed.
