Next morning Page explained to Aneli that Walter and her were going to explain to Ralph what they proposed doing for work . Aneli suggested she could go for a walk on the beach , but she did ask how long their conversation might last . Paige semed to think maybe a hour , but Aneli did not have to stay away for that long , she could always come back and sit on the porch , or even come on into the living area .

Aneli was only to happy to agree with Paige , they were now like a family and she understood the meeting was importent to the three of them . Twenty minutes later Aneli left for her walk and Walter and Paige sat on the sofa and Ralph sat on one of the easy chairs . Walter began to explain what the intentions of setting up the company was.

" Both your mom and me , decided it would be a good thing to start a business . We signed a contract with Homeland , the difference between the old contract and this new one , is that we are only going to help them with internal computer problems . Also Katherine wants to set up seminars for agents to be shown what to look for in computers and other things she thinks importent . We may also be called in to organize some jobs for Homeland .

Richard we have agreed to help him when he needs us , but that is more of a friendship deal . No contract and only if we are doing nothing for Homeland . "

Ralph looked a little glum as he asked . " Just you two will be doing this ? "

It was Paige who was quick to answer . " Initially yes , Happy as been given a contract by Richard as a mechanical trouble shooter . In fact Richard had asked Walter to look at a problem for him . But it was more a mechanical problem so he called in Happy , who solved the problem in less than thirty minutes . Richard's team had been trying to solve for over a month , her contract is similar to ours with Homeland , so her and Toby will still run the garage . That is if Toby is not doing his free hours at a clinic close close to the garage . "

Ralph's face looked a little confused . " What Toby is working for nothing , What is the catch ?"

" No catch , Walter told him a few home truths , which he actually accepted and the next day he went and agreed to do extra hours . " Explained Paige .

" There is one thing you have not told me . What are you going to call the company ? "

Walter looked at Paige who smiled as she said . " Waige and Son . "

Ralph took a deep breath . " Not Scorpion ? "

Walter explained . " That was part of our past , which as been done and is now gone . The new name incorparates both our names and the son is for you if you would like to come in with us once you have finished at Harvard . What i did not mention was we intend to bid on a few coding jobs , but we will be particuar as to what we bid for . "

As Walter was finishing , Paige jumped into the conversation . " Now you are creating a video game , that may be another area we could get into . " She explained .

Ralph still looked a little glum . " I like the general idea of the company , but i always wanted to work for Scorpion , however if i can work with mom and dad i can get used to working for Waige and Son . " Ralph's face brightened up as he got up and went to both Walter and Paige and gave them a big hug .

As they finished talking , they heard a knock on the back door to the porch . Paige went over and Aneli was standing at the door .

" Alright come in now ? " She asked .

" Of course we have almost finished . " Replied Paige .

Aneli came in and went to the kitchen , Paige made her way back to her two men .

" Now everyone is happy with the situation , i had better register the company as a partnership . We will also need to open a bank account in the name of Waige and Son . Leave that to me . You two why don't you go and spend a couple of hours on the video game . " Paige told them a big smile on her face .

" Good idea mom , lets go dad . " Said an excited Ralph almost shouting .

Once they had gone , Paige first went into the kitchen to check Aneli was alright . Paige was surprised to see Aneli busy preparing to bake a cake . Aneli looked up from what she was doing .

" Alright i bake cake as a surprise , i put few items on list other day for this . Hope you not much mad ? "

Paige smiled . " Not at all , it will be a surprise for Walter and Ralph . What sort of cake are you baking ? "

" Garash cake , chocolate flavour . " Explained Aneli .

" You will be very popular with Ralph anything chocolate he loves . I will leave you alone to get on with your work . "

At that Paige left the kitchen and went to check if there was any mail . The mail box contained two envelopes , the first showed it was from the patents office . The other one was a little stranger in apperance , it was about 9" x 6" with a clear window , in it . Inside there appeared to be another envelope . Paige went into the living area , the patent envelope she put on the table , to open later . The other envelope was intriguing , she sat on the sofa and examined it closely , it was stamped as being lost in the system , as the person it was addressed to was not at the address shown .

Paige opened the envelope with care almost as if afraid that something could come out of it and bite her , as she did she noticed her current address was printed on a small label on the corner of the envelope . Once she had opened the envelope she slowley pulled the white envelope out . She turned it over so she could see the name and address as she saw the , writing , it was as if the envelope was full of electricity ,as she dropped it on the floor .

It took a couple of minutes for the shock to wear off . Once she recovered she bent down and picked the envelope up . She checked the writing again , yes she was correct the first time , the writing was Walter's . She looked at the post mark , which by now had faded , but she could just about make out the year 2018 .

Eventually she got up from the sofa , she needed to be alone , she made her way to their bedroom , were she went into the bathroom , locked the door , and sat down on the toilet seat .

She turned the envelope over and over in her hands , eventually she stopped and slowly began to open the envelope with care , it felt almost a sacred item to her and did not want to damage any part of it .

Once she had opened the envelope she slowly pulled the folded paper out , unfolded the paper and gently smoothed it out . Then started to read it .

My dear Paige

I have calculated that as you have never replied to any of my texts i have sent to you , on a regular basis , or bothered to answer any of my many voice mails i have left you , you have no further intention to want any contact with me . This will be my last communication i will ever have with you .

I have tried to apologize in every way i could think of , but my , to me , harmless visit to a lecture with a co-worker , who happened to be female , was just to much for your trust issues .

I would never cheat on you , even now we are no longer together . You have spoilt me for any other woman. No other woman could even approach what you do to me . When i look at you , when i touch you i cannot even begin to explain what that does to me .

But because of one silly mistake , which to me was nothing and then having conflicting advice from Toby i made another mistake by not telling you . I have lost the will to carry on , no i do not mean i will kill myself . But i have to put as much distance between us as i can , so by the time you get this letter i will be back in the land of my birth .

Please make sure you look after Ralph , he will need your guidence to ensure that he does not turn out like me . I remember the first year we worked together and Ralph got into a dangerous situation . You told me then , that you did not want him to be me . So make sure he gets plenty of love and interacts with normals .

I wish you well for the future and hope you can find true happiness .

But now for the last time .

WALTER O'BRIAN

As she finished reading the letter she let it drop and it floated down slowly to the floor . Tears were streaming down her face , as she put her head in her hands .

Thoughts were going through her mind , if only she had received the letter when she should have , she would have been on the nrxt plane to Ireland , so she could have apologized to him and begged his forgiveness two years ago . They could maybe have been married with maybe a new O'Brian running around ,

She did not know how long she had been there when she heard a gentle knock on the door .

" Paige are you alright ? " Asked a concerned Walter .

She slowly got up from the toilet seat and made her way to the door . Unlocking the door , she quickly opened the door and virtually threw herself into Walter's arms .

" I am so sorry Walter . " She managed to say though her sobbing .

" What are you sorry for Paige ? " Walter asked while rubbing her back ,to try and calm her down .

" I received your letter today . "

Walter with a complete look of surprise on his face . " The last letter i wrote to you was over two years ago , just before i went back to Ireland . "

" I know it is the letter that was delivered today . "

" So you did not have any idea what i felt when i left . "

" I just assumed you were just mad at me and would never want anything to do with me , an idea Toby picked upon and at every oppertunity he would come up with some sort of variation of . He will never have you back not after how you humiliated him . Then when i won the lottery and wanted to share my news with you . What did you do ? Slammed the phone down on me , which seemed to confirm what Toby kept telling me . " Paige explained while tears were still running down her cheeks .

Walter lifted her chin up and gently kissed her on the lips . " I am sorry about that , but in my defence i assumed you had received the letter i had sent and not bothered to reply in over eight weeks . I imagined you were going to gloat , so my reaction was to slam the phone down . "

Paige wiped the tears from her cheeks and hugged Walter tighter as she began to speak . " It would seem that two years ago the fates were against us and were determined to split us up . First the engagment you planned , i spoilt that , then this letter if that had arrived , i would have been on the next plane to Ireland to try and get you back in my arms . "

Walter stayed silent for a few seconds before speaking . " You may be right , but also the two year break we have had seems to have made our love stronger . If you had accepted my proposal , we would still be working at Scorpion with Toby still dripping poison into our ears , with his twisted logic . You would not have won the lottery and living in this house .

I would still be making the same mistakes because the pressure on me from Scorpion . So as i have said so many times , forget what happened in the past , but remember not to do what we did before . "

Paige had stopped crying by now . " O'Brian at times your logic still astonishes me . I understand what you are saying but i still regret having missed two years of being with you . "

Walter smiled and simply said . " I concur . "

" Let me go and freshen up and i will come out , please don't tell Ralph , i think we should keep this episode between us . " Paige said as she pulled Walter's head down to plant a kiss on his lips .

Walter returned to the living area were he found Ralph and Aneli in deep conversation in two different languages .

" That sounds really weird to someone walking in on it . " Walter remarked .

" Hi dad , mom was not around so we thought it was a good time to practise . " Replied Ralph .

" No , thats fine , your mom will be out in a minute . "

" You like some coffee ? Have just made fresh . " Asked Aneli .

" Lets wait for Paige to come out i am sure she will want a cup . " Walter explained .

Five minutes later Paige appeared , she had washed her face and reapplied the light make-up favoured by Walter .

" You like cup of coffee ? " Aneli asked .

" Oh that would be great , thank you Aneli . " Paige sweetly replied .

" I make snacks , me bring them in to . "

" That would be very nice . "

Aneli went to the kitchen and returned a few minutes later , with three cups of coffee and a glass of milk for Ralph . She put the cups and glass on the table and returned to the kitchen . She brought out a plate of sandwiches and four side plates together with some paper napkins .

Paige suddenly remembered the other envelope , that had arrived today , she walked out to the side table she had placed it on .

" Walter we have received a packet from the patents office . I would imagine it is the forms . " Paige explained .

" You had better open it and check , then we can sort out the hoist and pass everything on to Happy . " Replied Walter .

Paige walked back and sat next to Walter on the sofa . She quickly opened the envelope and removed the contents .

" Yes these are the forms , i can do the paperwork for the hoist and then pass everything over to Happy . "

Once they all had their fill of food Walter told Paige he was going to spend a little time working on the donor program with Ralph's help . As he started to make his way to his office , his phone rang , he saw Richards name on the I.D.

" Hello Richard . "

" Hi Walter , can you spare a couple of hours now ? Happy is here on what appeared to be a mechanical problem , but she seems to think part of the problem is on the coding that was designed to run the machine . "

" Yes i could be there in a hour . "

" Ok i will see you in a short while and thank you . "

" No problem , see you soon . "

As Walter switched his phone off , Paige looked at him before saying . " You will be there in a hour , what happened to our new motto . "

" I know , but i thought i could take Ralph with me and i thought you and Aneli could have a girlie afternoon . " Replied a rather nervous Walter .

Paige put her hands on her hips and glared at Walter , before a broad smile broke out on her face . " I like that idea , in fact i like that idea a lot . "

The relief on Walter's face was amusing Paige who could not help but laugh .

Aneli looked at Paige . " No understand girlie afternoon . "

Paige realized that what she had said could have been confusing so she turned to Walter . "Maybe you could explain to Aneli , what i mean in Bulgarian . "

Walter's face dropped . " That is beyond my skill in Bulgarian , how about you Ralph . "

" I think i would really need it explaining to me as i do not really understand it my self . "

" You two are useless . " Paige said with a smile on her face .

" All it means Aneli is we will spend an afternoon together . First a face pack , then tidy up our hair , apply make-up and finally our nails . Explained Paige .

" Me no make-up and you not wear make-up . " Aneli commented .

" Paige as got plenty of make-up, don't worry about that . " Walter told her .

" You do not seem wear make-up . " Said Aneli .

" I wear make-up all the time , but it is subtle , the way Walter likes it . In fact it can take longer to apply it like this than to put a lot more make-up on . " Explained Paige .

" Ok sound good . " Answered Aneli .

" You ok going with me ? " Asked a smiling Walter .

" You bet . " Replied an excited Ralph .

" Is it alright to use your car Paige ? "

" Of course just be careful , do not forget you are the two most importent things in my life . " Answered Paige as she walked over to Walter and gave him a kiss on the lips , she gave Ralph a hug . Walter picked up the car keys from the side table and he and Ralph left for Richard's .

The two ladies cleared up what was left from lunch , put the dirty plates in the dishwasher . Once all that was done Paige told Aneli that the first thing they needed to do was to put on some old t-shirts .

" Me not got t-shirt . " Aneli told Paige .

" Don't worry about that i have plenty . " Answered Paige .

The rest of the afternoon was a pampering session for both of them .

Richard Elia's Office

" Glad you could come Walter , i expected to see Paige , but it is a pleasure to see you Ralph ."

" It is nice to meet you again Mr. Elia " Answered Ralph

" Paige as stayed at home , with a visitor we have staying with us , she as come all the way from Bulgaria to try and help a young friend of ours . Although Ralph is a new member of our company ,well he will be when he graduates from Harvard next year . " Explained Walter .

" Harvard that is brilliant , and you are what 15years old . " Said Richard .

" Yes sir . " Replied Ralph .

" Let me take you to see Happy and she can explain the problem . Maybe you could tell me about your Bulgarian visitor and how she is going to help your young friend . " Richard told Walter .

By the time they reached Happy , Walter had explained all about Aneli and Ada . He also explained to Richard about the company the three of them had formed . As soon as Happy saw Walter she ran over to him and gave him a hug .

" Good to see you Walt . "

Once she released Walter , she turned to Ralph and ruffled his hair . " How are you squirt ? "

" Fine . " Replied Ralph with a smile on his face .

" No Paige today , i thought you two were joined at the hip these days . " Happy asked Walter .

" She is having a girlie afternoon with Aneli , she as been a little sad the past couple of days , so i suggested to Paige a girlie afternoon would be a good idea . " Walter said with a smile on his face .

" Why is Aneli sad , you are behaving yourself , i hope . " Said Happy with mock annoyance in her voice .

" She is due to give her bone marrow early next week and i think she is really enjoying herself being with us . I have however asked her to stay until after the computer show we are going to take some computer programs to sell . "

" Good , i would like to see her before she leaves , but now i think we should try and solve this problem for Richard . " Said Happy .

" I totally agree , lets go look at the problem . " Suggested Walter .

Happy took them to the machine and explained the problem and what she had done on the mechanical side , but the problem still exists .

Walter with Ralph looking over his shoulder bought up the computer program on the computer screen .After about five minutes Ralph suddenly shouted .

" Stop dad . "

Walter Immediatly stopped scrolling . " What did you see Ralph ? "

" Slowly scroll back , there that bit of coding it looks like some of the figues are in the wrong order . " Ralph explained .

Walter checked a few lines before and after the error Ralph had thought he had seen .

" I think you are correct Ralph , lets see what happens if we change it . "

Walter changed some of the coding then got Happy to run the machine . Within minutes Happy had started the machine working . A smile broke out on her face .

" That seems to have cured the problem , there is no vibration and no longer any strange noises . "

Richard had stood in the background until they had finished their work .

" How did Ralph pick that bit of coding out so quickly ? " He asked .

Walter proudly looked at Ralph . " His mind is that fast at deciphering the information and he also as young eyes . " Explained Walter .

" Unbelievable ." Was all Richard could say .

They all returned to Richard's office were he had his secretary prepare cheques for both them . Walter told him to make his cheque out to Waige and son , a remark Happy picked up on , so Walter had to explain the company that they had started was a combination of his and Paige's name and son was Ralph .

They said goodbye to Richard , on the way out Walter spoke to Happy .

" Would you and Toby like to come over tomorrow night for something to eat and meet Aneli . "

" I would love that and i will make sure Fungus is on his best behaviour . Happy replied .

" I will text you the address , say 7.00pm tomorrow .

Happy hugged Walter again and ruffled Ralph's hair before saying goodbye .

" I will ring your mom and tell her we should be home around 6.00pm ." Walter told Ralph .

Back at the Malibu house .

Paige and Aneli had a good afternoon , Paige had done all of Aneli's Make-up , Hair and painted her nails .Aneli had told Paige a lot about her life , she lived in a small village of about 400 people . Most of her early education was done at home ,with her mother doing the teaching . She had no siblings , her father had worked on a local farm , so most of the day it was just her and her mother at home . When she was twelve , both her parents had been killed in a road accident and she was sent to live with her grandparents in another village about twenty miles from her own .

This village had a small school , which she attended until she was 16 . She had proved to be a good student and passed all her exams . At 17 she moved to Sofia to go to college , she got accommodation in a students house . She as another two years of her course to go before she graduated .

Paige had been most interested in her story and once the pampering was over , Paige decided after all of their hard work , it would be a shame to waste it so she phoned La Scala and booked a table for four people at 8.00pm , she then booked an Uber for 7.30pm.

As she finished booking the Uber , her phone rang , Walter phoned to say they should be home around 6.00pm.

" Right all is ready for tonight , now to choose something to wear . " Said Paige .

" What me wear ? " Asked Aneli .

" How about one of the things we bought last Saturday ? "

" You help choose please . " Asked Aneli .

" Ok lets see which suits you best . "

They both went to Aneli's room . Thirty minutes later they were back in the living area , Aneli was wearing a blue fitted dress , that finished just on the knee , with a small V at the neck . She had borrowed a pair of Paige's black shoes , fortunately they both wore the same size .

" You sit down and wait here , i am going to get changed , do you want anything before i go . "

" No me very happy . " Replied Aneli .

It was nearly fourty minutes before Paige returned . Wearing the black dress she wore on the first date with Walter after he returned to the States .

" Beautiful . " Was all Aneli could manage when Paige entered the room .

" Thank you . " Paige replied .

Ten minutes later Paige heard the front door open .

" Quick stand up next to me . " She told Aneli .

Both ladies were standing in front of the sofa when Walter entered the room . He stopped dead in his tracks , Ralph who was following , bumped into him .

" Wow ! " Was all Walter managed to say .

Paige and Aneli looked at one another with big smiles on their faces . Paige turned to her two men .

" Right go get showered and dressed in your best suits tonight , Ralph you will be providing the escort for Aneli and you Mr. O'Brian will be my escort . "

Walter's face broke out in a goofy grin and he made an extravagant bow to Paige .

" It will be my pleasure , my lady . "

Ralph tried to copy Walter , with not quite the same success saying . " It would be my great honour to escort such a beautiful young lady tonight . "

Both Paige and Aneli broke out into loud laughter .

" Go on the Uber is booked for 7.30pm. and i do not want to be late . " Paige managed to say through her laughter .

Walter and Ralph , left the two girls still laughing .

Fourty minutes later Walter and Ralph re appeared . Walter was wearing the same suit , shirt and tie he had worn on their first date when he came back to the States . Ralph was dressed in a suit a little lighter than Walter's but his shirt and tie were a close match to Walter's outfit .

Paige and Aneli , studied them for a few seconds , before Paige turned to Aneli .

" Do you think they are good enough to be our escorts for the night ? " Her smile getting bigger as she spoke .

Aneli , still looking at both of them waited for a few seconds before answering .

" Me think good , would be proud to walk in restaurant with one of them on my arm ." Her smile as well got bigger as she spoke .

Walter looked at Ralph . " Well what do you think , would you be proud to walk into the restauraurant with one of these young ladies on your arm . "

Ralph with a gleam in his eye . " I have certainly seen a lot worse , so yes i would be proud to walk in the restaurant with one of them on my arm . "

All four began laughing .

At 7.30pm. the Uber arrived , Ralph walked Aneli down the path to the car . Walter and Paige held back a little , Walter turned to Paige and whispered in her ear .

" I hope the ending goes better than the night of our first date , after we reconnected . "

Paige gave a little giggle before whispering back to Walter . " I have already made plans for a better ending . "

As they entered the restaurant , the same thing seemed to happen as their first date all eyes seemed to be on them , Walter and Paige were the main attraction , the men were envious of Walter , the women jealous of Paige's beauty . But Ralph with Aneli on his arm made a cute couple .

Arriving back home around 10.30pm. . Both Ralph and Aneli went to their rooms , both of them having had a fun filled evening .

Walter and Paige sat on the sofa .

" I forgot to tell you , i have invited Happy and Toby over for a meal tomorrow night . Happy wants to meet Aneli . We can have take out if you like ,,to save you cooking . Richard also gave me a cheque for $500 made out to Waige and Son . So you can use that to open the bank account . " Walter explained .

" Thats enough talking . " Paige said as she kissed him . " Time for bed . " She told Walter as she pulled away from him taking his hand and pulled him up off the sofa .

The last time they had returned from La Scala they went to seperate bedrooms , tonight one bedroom only . After a period of quiet , slow love making they both fell asleep with smiles of contentment on their faces .

It converts the written word , print or didital into audio .it is available in the States . If you Google ORCAM for their website , no idea of cost .
