CHAPTER 4: Hidden in plain sight
In a classroom in konoha a young 12 year old boy with black spike yet shaggy hair and a face covering that covered only his eyes slept in peace unaware of the current lecture that he was ignoring. *Snore* "Osiris-San" someone said in a calm voice, *snore* "Osiris-San" the same person said with a bit of irritation, *snore* "OSIRIS!" the person yelled at a black-haired boy now know as Osiris, the same boy was startled and fell out of his chair before getting up and looking at the man who awakened him "sorry Iruka sensei" said the boy sheepishly "this is the third time in the exact same hour that you've fallen asleep during my lecture" The man now know as Iruka said in a very irritated voice, coming up with a quick lie Osiris spoke "well you see Iruka sensei I didn't get much sleep last night, you know me always trying to improve" Iruka sighed before dismissing the statement and telling Osiris to get better rest so he can pay attention in class. After that the black haired boy had sat back down and pretended to listen to his sensei's lecture, all the while thinking about his complicated past and what had transpired in the 6 years he met his big brother figure and sensei.
FIVE YEARS AGO*
Naruto panted on the floor covered in sweat, while his sensei and big brother Cayde was smiling at his little brother slash student's misfortune "Hey you did really good kiddo you can now use the Spectral Blades for a good 15 minutes, that's big improvements" Naruto then gave a thumbs up whilst he was still laying on the ground, throughout the entire year Cayde and Naruto had put a lot effort into Naruto's training, now that Naruto had a lot of free time, the only times they didn't train would be when Cayde took bounty jobs which he was really good at but this didn't surprise Naruto, although Cayde was surprised by Naruto not only in his ability to learn quickly and adapt quickly but with his connection to the light, apparently Naruto had the full power to wield the light, meaning that he could use Void, Arc, and Solar light related abilities to the fullest, which surprised both Sundance and Cayde equally since no one up until now had been able to use all light side abilities. Both Sundance and Cayde had expected for Naruto to be a void specialist seeing as that the first time they met Naruto had summoned the spectral blades, which didn't surprise either of them because contrary to popular belief, void was the most common light ability among the hunter's, with the Arc being second, and Solar being the rarest, though Naruto would still have to work to unlock the rest of his abilities. This was all explained to Naruto by Cayde and Sundance, this only gave more fire to the flame in Naruto's eyes being more determined to unlock and master all of his abilities. Naruto was still on the ground being to tired to even get up, then his older brother figure hovered over him "you need a lift back home kid" asked Cayde amusingly, Naruto then glared at his sensei before relenting with a sigh and nodded his head, Cayde chuckled as he lifted Naruto onto his back before taking off with shun shin. Naruto wasn't the only one learning new things about his abilities, Cayde had kept himself busy with learning new things about chakra, he had managed to unlock his chakra network which came as a surprise for him because he was still a robot, he then found out how to do chakra exercises which was supposed to help him control his chakra, afterwards he then learned how to use jutsu's, starting off with the great fireball Jutsu which he had seen from some people with weird red eyes use during a spar. Every time Cayde would learn something new about chakra he would show and teach Naruto about it, but whilst being able to wield the light and use chakra is powerful , knowledge was just as powerful and important, so to help this both Cayde and Naruto would go to the library and learn the history of the world, how politics work etc, Cayde would use a henge every time they went to the library and Naruto's appearance had changed to a black haired boy with his whisker marks being covered by face paint so they would not arise suspicions, although some did suspect Naruto because of his eyes so to combat this Cayde got a face covering that only covered his eyes and taught him how to see without the use of his eyes with the help of light. Sooner than expected Cayde and Naruto made it back to the apartment they both called home, Cayde then set Naruto on the couch before telling Naruto that he was going to his own room to get dressed before heading out for another bounty mission, giving another thumbs up weakly Naruto fell asleep too tired to think about anything, Cayde had come out of his room and noticed that Naruto had fallen asleep, smiling he covered Naruto with a blanket, afterwards putting on his hood which was part of his poncho and leaving through the sunroof with a jump. It was late at night and Naruto was still asleep on the couch, he was woken up to the sound of his stomach growling, he reluctantly got off the couch and made his way to the kitchen which was part of the dining room, once there he got himself ingredients to make a sandwich with cooked bacon, grilled cheese, cooked slice of ham, and to finish it a fried over medium egg. He then brought his late dinner with him to the roof using the sunroof as the way of entry, he sat on the roof of the apartment building for a while whilst eating his sandwich, his black hair blowing in the wind and his face now cleared of the whiskers he once had, though his ocean blue eyes where still there, it had been two days later after he self removed himself from his clan that Cayde changed his look, even if had been almost a year since then he was still getting used to his new look, he was cut from his thoughts after he heard a blood curdling scream in the distance. Naruto then got a harden gaze in the direction of the scream and wasn't sure what to make of it, his curiosity and wanting to help nature was winning over his logical side. Making his decision, he finished his sandwich, went inside and got dressed, he than appeared on the roof again wearing the same clothes he used to infiltrate the hokage office, the differences being that the porcelain mask he wore now had the half where his mouth was an onni's mouth and the top half had one horn on the left side, with the eyes of the mask looking like a kirigakure hunter nins would look like and to finish off the new look his hunter knife was in a sash that was part of a homemade utility belt he made with Cayde's help and was strapped from his left shoulder to his right hip. Checking himself over, Naruto than bounced off with chakra, jumping from roof to roof Naruto made it to where he thought the scream came from, he stopped on the roof of house that was in the Uchiha district, he looked around and immediately could tell something was wrong, it was quite to quite, it wasn't that late normally at this hour you would hear noise's of people eating dinner with their families, the drunks who would make their way home from the bar, and the police force, but now it was just quite. Naruto then heard a loud crash followed by screaming not to far from him in what seemed to be the head clan house of the Uchiha and immediately made his way there. He found an entry through a broken window and made his way through the house before making it to the living room of the house and was shocked at the scene in front of him "Itachi-chan...why, why do this, to your clan!, to your friends!, to your family! " shouted a raven haired woman on the floor all the while crying before Itachi spoke "it's very clear why mother, for power" said Itachi in a cold voice, before swinging at the woman on the floor, Naruto wasn't sure as to why Itachi was doing what she was doing but he had to do something .*CLANK, was all that was heard throughout the house, Itachi had widen her eyes the person in front of her was wearing all black with a unique face mask and knife which the figure was using to block the tanto aimed at her own mother, the raven haired woman on the floor also had her eyes wide at her savior "What do you think your doing Itachi-San" said Naruto in confused yet angered voice but the voice changer in the mask made him have a metallic tone to it "what I am doing is none of your concerns stranger, now leave unless you want to end up like the rest of this pitiful clan" said Itachi with finality and used more killing intent on the figure in front of her. Naruto stood his ground against Itachi's killing intent by using some of his own which matched Itachi's, what seemed for hour's only ended up being a few seconds before someone spoke "you keep trying to use your genjutsu on me Itachi-San" Itachi was surprised at her attempts being thwarted by the stranger and Itachi's surprise was all that Naruto needed to catch her off guard, deflecting the tonto to the side then Naruto did a spin kick that connected to Itachi's face sending her through the wooden wall, looking at the raven haired woman on the floor he spoke "Are you okay Mrs uhh" , "Mikoto" said the woman in a quiet voice " Are you okay Mikoto-San, do you have any injuries, did Itachi do anything to you", "n-no, I-I'm fine thank you", "okay please stay here where it is safe" Naruto said as he gave Mikoto a reassuring squeeze on her shoulders which seemed to work as she calmed if only by a little. Mikoto didn't know why, but the reassurance of the figure in front of her made her feel warm, she then nodded to the person's words, Naruto made a shadow clone and left it with Mikoto just to be cautious, he then made his way outside where Itachi was recovering from blow to her face, once Itachi stood up she grabbed her tonto which had gone with her through the wall, she then noticed that the mysterious figure had made his way outside with her "I under estimated you stranger, you caught me off guard pretty well, but that won't happen again", "we will see about that Itachi-San". The two then got into stances with Itachi taking a defensive stance with her tonto and Naruto holding his hunter knife in a reverse grip looking ready to brawl. For a few tense moments no one moved before a droplet of water fell from a drainage pipe hit the floor and the two moved at blurring speed and clashing, Itachi then pushed Naruto back with her foot and followed it up with a vertical swing that Naruto dodge and threw a right hook which had his hunter knife, Itachi front rolled away from Naruto's swing and the two where then back at each other's throats, Itachi then tried to do a spinning horizontal swing with her tonto but Naruto then fell back and rolled backwards and used his crouching position to jump into the air and bring down his hunter knife on Itachi but Itachi blocked using her forearm and clashing with Naruto's forearm, throughout the entire fight, Naruto had a wind of emotions, he wasn't sure as to why Itachi would do what she did and he didn't want to hurt her because she was the very first person to ever treat him like a friend but she wasn't really giving him another option. Itachi also had a wind of emotions, she was shocked, irritated, but most of all she was fascinated by the stranger in front of her but even with her fascination she had to finish this fight as soon as possible or else the consequences of her actions would catch up to her, devising a quick plan of attack she rushed towards Naruto faking a horizontal jump swing and slid in between Naruto and then jumped back up before doing a clean round house to Naruto's face sending him towards a house window and crashed in it. Itachi cleaned her face of sweat and was gonna jump off before seeing her brother in the middle of the street with confusion apparent on his face, Itachi didn't have time for this so she put her brother Sasuke under a genjutsu where he would see the death of the entire clan, but before it was put into affect Sasuke saw his sister disappear and a purplish outline of smoke, before he was unconscious from the genjutsu. Itachi got back up from the wall she was sent to with groan and got rid of the blurr in her vision as she turned around to face the stranger once again before being shocked at what she was looking at, she wasn't the only one who was shocked as Mikoto who made her way outside with the company of the shadow clone that Naruto left, in front of them stood the stranger emitting some sort purple smoke "alright, let's get serious" said the figure before disappearing in a blink of an eye and appeared in front of Itachi and kicked her once again but this time into the middle of the street "That hurt much worse then last few times, what the hell is this guy made off" though Itachi with pain getting back up she noticed that her tanto was no where near her, so she took out two kunai and held them in a reverse grip, to her and Mikoto's surprise the stranger then formed dual blades of purple energy and also held them in reverse grip. Itachi hesitated but then got her resolve back and both Itachi and the stranger where about to rush each other but before they could a yellow flash appeared in between them as the fourth hokage Minato Namikaze stood with haration kunais in both hands held in a reverse grip "That's enough out of both of you, surrender now and no one else needs to die" said Minato with edge in his voice whilst looking at both fighters. Although Minato knew about Itachi's mission, he just wasn't sure about the stranger, but before anything else could be said or done Itachi disappeared into a flock of crows, Minato then turned his attention to the stranger and by this time the ANBU had made it to Minato's location and surrounded the Stranger, although they where weary of the dual purple blades "we don't need to fight if you surrender and come willingly no punishment will be given to you" it was quite for a while before the stranger spoke "Is this how you treat someone who tries to stop a killer" spoke the stranger with disappointment, Minato narrowed his eyes and spoke calmly "like I said we don't want to fight, we just want cooperation and answers" the area went quite for a few seconds before the stranger spoke "Fuck you and your wants" said the stranger as he turned invisible in front of Minato and the ANBU "What in kami's name was that jutsu he didn't even use any hand signs and I can't sense his chakra, it's like he was just a ghost and what where those blades" Thought Minato before speaking aloud "Get the rest of the currently active ANBU and start a search party" Finality was evident in Minato's voice "HAI" said all the ANBU collectively. Minato then noticed both Sasuke and Mikoto before picking up the boy and walked over to Mikoto "are you okay Mikoto, are you hurt" said Minato as he laid Sasuke down with his mother "I'm fine Minato, if it weren't for that stranger I think Itachi would have completed what she was set out to do" Mikoto said sadly as she held her son "Yeah that guy is something else" said Minato with curiosity. Naruto made it back to house being invisible helped his odds with not being found, once he was back he got into more comfortable clothes as he then went to his room and laid down to sleep, Kiriko and Nagini then jumped onto his bed and laid with him as well as they all went to sleep.
END FLASHBACK*
As his thoughts of the past came to an end Osiris or better known as Naruto noticed that class nearly came to an end and Iruka's lecture came to an end as well. "Alright class that is the end of my lecture and remember that the graduation exams are less then a week away, so study well and sleep plenty" Iruka said with encouragement, as that was when the bell of academy rang signifying the end of the school day. Osiris had already disappeared using a shunshin making a spike red hair boy and a duck butt raven haired boy feel angered with jealousy. Osiris walked the streets of konoha it was early evening and it made it all the better when he took out a device that was hooked up with a cord to a device in the shape of a rectangle, pressing the play button, Osiris began to listening to music (Think of the song "Killing Strangers" by Marilyn Mansion) Osiris had took a huge liking into music, his sensei/big brother was a big influence on how Osiris got into music as well, his sensei had taught him how to use most instruments but Osiris's favorite was the electric guitar, so over their training when they had free time and weren't doing anything they would play any of instruments they had and make their own songs some of which where recreations from his sensei's world. Osiris eventually made it back to the apartment that he and his sensei shared then proceeded to open the door and walked through it before he braced himself, Cayde and Osiris weren't the only ones who had went through change's Kiriko now to size of a wolf jumped on Osiris and yipped with happiness "Hehe it's good to see you Kiriko did you miss me" Kiriko yipped in the affirmative, before getting off Osiris and letting him stand up, Osiris then felt a slithering sensation crawling up his body before noticing Nagini who grow to size of a python warped from his hip to his shoulder "Aw I missed you to Nagini" Osiris said with a smile, in response Nagini rub it's head on Osiris's cheek before slithering back down to the floor and moving towards the living room with Osiris and Kiriko behind it. Osiris then sat on the couch with Kiriko's head on his lap and Nagini resting it's body on his shoulders, as they laid there Osiris twirled with his knife in his right hand as he talked in his head "I always feared the future and what it brought, but now I like that I don't know what tomorrow brings, it just means that there are many adventure's" Osiris or Naruto's thoughts came to an end as he smiled, loving how good his life is, but for the Namikaze and Uzumaki family life hasn't been the same as of five years ago.
SIX YEARS AGO*
Mito woke up with joy very obvious in her eyes and jumped up ,out of her bed and ran towards the dining room smelling the scent of food, she wasn't the only one who ran there in a hurry as her other siblings were also rushing towards the dining room, though Mito noticed that her older brother Naruto was not with them, this didn't surprise her as much because her brother was always a little late to the dining room, but she was later concerned when her brother never showed up to the dining room. She then asked her parents about her older brother in the best way a four year old could, but they didn't put much attention to it and told her to not worry about it, that he would come when ever he felt like it and that was the response they gave her for a couple days, but that would change sooner then expected "If that perverted moron doesn't stop asking for a second chance I'll end up becoming a missing nin for killing him" said Tsunade with annoyance and anger clear in her voice "Maybe you should beat him into submission again like you did when he peaked on you" Kushina said with a smirk, Tsunade sighed before speaking "I already did but he keeps getting back up like nothing, he's like a cockroach that doesn't know when to quit" Kushina laughed and Tsunade chuckled before things went quite and then Tsunade asked a question "have you told Naruto about not letting him go to the academy yet" Kushina looked down with a sigh before speaking "not yet, I'm not sure as to how he will react" Tsunade then got a stern look and spoke "well it would be better to tell him now then later, just get it out of the way" Kushina looked unsure after Tsunade's statement "now that I think about it I haven't seen him around as much, did you ground him or something" said Tsunade questioningly "I don't think that I have in the past couple days" said Kushina while in a thinking position, "yeah" Tsunade said inquisitively before speaking again "I'll go check on him just to be sure" getting up from the table and moving upstairs. As Tsunade made her way to Naruto's "room" she got a sense of deja vu and a sense of foreboding, she eventually made it to Naruto's "room" and stood in front of the door, she didn't know why she didn't immediately open the door but the sense of foreboding came back stronger than ever and made Tsunade hesitate for a bit before getting her resolve and opening the door. To her shock and distraught, Naruto's room was empty and she began to frantically look around with a sense of new found dread being apparent on her face "Kushina!" yelled Tsunade, Kushina rushed up stairs with confusion evident on her face before a sense of dread was seen on her face. Her "son's" room was empty, the only things being there being the table and bed that were given to him. Kushina then much like Tsunade started to frantically look around the room before looking around the house for her "son", she and Tsunade then noticed a piece of paper that was folded on the table that read "To the Hokage and his wife", Tsunade then picked up the paper before reading it "Dear current clan heads of the Uzumaki and Namikaze as you are now aware of my presence being problematic in your house hold and are no doubt wondering what has happened, please rest assured that I have taken the burden of having to deal with the failure of the bastard child of the fourth Hokage away from your hands, you and your family can now have peace in your house" After reading Tsunade notice that Kushina was beginning to cry whilst looking at the floor before hearing her speak "how could I, how could I not consider my souchi's feelings!, my baby I'm so sorry!" Kushina said with tears rolling from her face, Tsunade tried her best to comfort her friend, eventually Kushina had calm down but had fallen asleep due to the overwhelming emotions, Tsunade had then set Kushina on the bed that used to belong to her son and then picked up the letter again to take it to Minato and inform him of situation, but before she could, she read the backstory of paper which read "Addressed to Senju Tsunade" which surprised her before she began to read "Dear Tsunade-San by the time you are reading this you either just woke up or you and my family have took notice of my absence in any case please do not worry, I wrote this part of the letter for you because I wanted to say thank you, thank you for caring, even if you were a bit drunk and weren't exactly in a good shape of mind, I can't help but be grateful, I've felt alone ever since I could remember, I understood why you, Jiraiya and my family needed to pay more attention to Menmma and Fuso, but it didn't help, but now I walk towards a future that I'm uncertain of and I'm not doing it alone, if we ever meet again I'll be sure to repay the favor, take care of yourself Tsunade-San" .After Tsunade read the part of letter addressed to her she remembered the night Naruto left and she let a couple tears fall before getting her resolve back and moving towards the hokage tower, when Minato got the news, he felt devastated and guilty for neglecting his own son, and immediately sent out ANBU squads to look for him around the country, Fuso and Menmma were a different story, Fuso wasn't sure how to feel about the situation on the hand she didn't hate him but on the other she had her superiority complex which didn't make things any easier, Menmma was indifferent towards the situation and made it clear that it was a good thing that the "family failure"was gone and that he and Fuso could now get more training done, these remarks then led to Menmma getting disciplined by his parents and by Kushina specifically. For the remainder of the years Minato would send ANBU to look for his son in the hopes of find him, little did he or anyone know he was hidden in plain sight.
