Once the Covention was over and she bid her friends goodbye, Luz headed back to the owl house and shared what happened today along with her opinion of some things. Especially the coven system and the Emperor's Coven.
"So, they suck, don't they?" Eda asked with a smirk.
"Yep. They're not different than you, except their not outlaw. Honestly, it's no big deal and that presentation was all flash, no substance." Luz said as King sat on her lap, getting back scratches from her. "Though, some random demon tried to kidnap me and a girl for ransom."
"Really? Well, welcome to the Boiling Isles." Eda said, shrugging."Kidnapping isn't uncommon, and since you're one of a kind, you'd probably make someone pretty rich being sold on the Black Market."
"You've got one here? I shouldn't be surprised but don't worry, I dealt with him." Luz said as she pulled out her machete again, showing some demon blood still on it. "Cut his arm off and knocked his ass out, he won't be bothering anyone for a while."
"Ahahahahahaha, nice! That's my girl!" Eda said, proud of Luz for being so tough. ""Also, the girl you saved, who was she?"
"Hmm, a girl around my age named "Blight." I never got her first name." Luz said with a shrug, putting her machete back on her back.
"Blight?" Eda said in surprise.
"Yeah, Blight. You know something about that?" Luz asked.
"Just that they're are one of the richest families on the Isles. If you've saved one of them, they just might owe you a favor in the future." Eda said with a smile.
Luz rolled her eyes from this and shook her head, she couldn't blame Eda for thinking this way and she wasn't foreign to the concept either. She cashed in a favor or two while paying some herself on "that night."
"I didn't do it for favors, I did it because someone innocent was in trouble." Luz said.
"It's still a favor for the future. What's that saying, "do something good and good comes back to you?" Yeah, that's it." Eda said with a shrug. "Even if you don't want a favor, she'll still owe you in the future."
"Whatever you say. I think I'm gonna go clean my machete and head to my room." Luz said to her.
Luz put King on the couch and walked up the stairs, pulling her machete and sheath from the middle of her spine before rolling her shoulders.
'Damn, that still hurts.' Luz thought as she stopped by the bathroom to wash the blood off her blade with hot water, soap, and a rag.
"There we go, all nice and clean, El Chopo." Luz said.
Once she was done, Luz dried it off with a towel before returning to her room to rest. Learning about all the different covens and magics was interesting but it was also a bit exhausting, especially with how FAKE and flashy the Emperor's Coven seemed to be.
But Then, there was the girl she saved. Green hair, golden eyes, and pale skin; her eyes was sort of curious yet she had this competitive fire within them that made Luz intrigued.
"I hope she's okay." Luz said before laying in her sleeping bag and taking a nap.
Elsewhere, Amity was wondering about the human.
She had gotten home safely after reporting the kidnapping attempt and made up a cover story that she was the one to handle it instead of Luz. This made her mother VERY proud as she could boast about how strong Amity was while the rest of her family consoled her for any mental fear that came from it, though it wasn't fear that plagued her mind. It was Luz.
She couldn't get the Human out of her head. Not just about what she did but why she did it in the first place? Why would she be willing to save her and want nothing in return? Nobody she knew had ever don't that for Amity before.
"Mittens? You okay?" Her older brother, Edric asked her.
"Huh? What? Sorry, just…..spaced out a bit." Amity said to him.
"Guess you're still shaken up from that creep. I don't blame you, a guy like that is an insult to all illusionists everywhere." Emira, her older sister, said with her arms crossed.
"Y-y-yeah." Amity said with a nod.
"I think you should go up to your room and rest for a bit. If you don't want to come to dinner, I can have it sent up for you." Her father, Alador, said to her.
He might not show he cares as a father all the time but Alador truly does care when it matters with his kids.
"T-t-thanks, dad." Amity said with a stutter.
Amity bid them goodbye and headed up to her room for the rest of the evening. She sat on her bed and opened her diary, writing in a new entry for today and the Covention.
'Today was……unexpected to say the least. Not just because of how the Covention went, but because of who or what I ran into. It was a human, an actual round eared human. And she... saved me from some creep.' Amity wrote, pausing for a moment to recall the event again before continuing. 'All my life, everyone but one person only ever wanted something in exchange for being my friend or saving me from something. Luz was only the second person to help JUST to help me. I don't know why but a small part of me wants to see her again so I can find out. Yet I ask myself why do I want that?'
Amity stopped writing as she used her magic to recreate the machete Luz used, a perfect copy minus the dark purple and pink coloring.
"She said she was self taught but what sort of things would force her to learn?" Amity asked, with a bit of worry in her voice. "What she said sounded more than a threat, it almost sounded like a promise."
'I've dealt with people like that before, I know how dangerous they are, and no one deserves to be kidnapped.' Amity remembered Luz say that to her. 'I don't need a reward if that's what you're saying or anything. I just did it because it was right.'
"She's……a really good person." Amity said as she looked at her reflection in the abomination machete, frowning sadly. "Better that I am."
