Chapter 5: The Best Portrait

Once the rest of the family showed up, they worked to clear the loose stone around the small hole which blocked the two sisters, until it was just wide enough to allow the two to finally be free of their entrapment. Once free, Bia very quickly hugged her dad, while Carla hugged onto their mom.

"I'm so glad you two are safe and okay." Blu said as he returned the hug Bia was giving him.

"Yes, we were all so worried." Jewel added.

"Could have been worse dad." Bia chuckled, Carla doing the same. "But I'm thankful you managed to find us."

"Well, we are a family sweetie." Blu reminded his daughter. "Speaking of which… I guess we have to postpone this year's portrait day…"

"I'm sure our friends in Rio will understand Blu, they can…" Jewel putting a wing on Blu as she spoke, only to be cut off by Carla.

"Oh come on mom, it's just a little delay, and our uncles are waiting for us." Carla said. "Right sis?" Carla turning to Bia.

"Yeah mom, dad, we don't get to see our Rio uncles every day you know." Bia added as Blu and Jewel looked at each other, of course not surprised by Carla's response, but Bia's…

"Your mom and I got the impression you weren't so excited about portrait day Bia…" Blu speaking to his daughter.

"Well, Carla helped me to see that it's not such a big deal and I'm willing to go through with it." Bia smiled.

"I guess we better get a move on than." Jewel smiled.

So while Linda and Tulio boarded a helicopter waiting for them back at the outpost, Bia and Carla, along with their family in the Amazon, began the long trip to the city of Rio de Janeiro. And it was a fun and eventful trip, with sightseeing and funny moments along the way, wonderful new memories being made before the final destination of the trip. Once there, the sisters with their family met up with their Uncles Rafael, Nico, Pedro, and Luiz before joining with Linda, Tulio, and Fernando at the portrait shop.

Of course being a little late, Linda and Tulio had to pay a little extra, but it was going to be worth it. As everyone got into the cramped space for the portrait to be painted, the painter got set up while everyone was debating on what poses they should do…

"So… Should I try to have a confident pose or what…" Bia not sure as Carla just chuckled at her sister's nervousness on what to do.

"I think I have the perfect pose for this year…" Carla smiled as she simply wrapped a wing around her sister and brought her in for a hug, Bia accepting it as she hugged back, the two still having their faces towards the painter.

The portrait took up the rest of the day and into the first hours of night, but it came out perfect, as soon as the painter said the words that it was finished, everyone relaxed, finally able to move after being still for so long. Everyone was eager to see how the portrait came out as the painter revealed it, everyone, especially Bia and Carla happy with how the painter did it, another portrait to add to the growing collection.

With the key event of the trip done, it was time for the party at Nico and Pedro's samba club as the family, minus the human members who went to their home in the city, celebrated another year together as there was a lot dancing and music playing. Bia, finally enjoying herself, got into it and danced with her sister since the two made up and were now closer than ever. As the music played and the sisters enjoyed their time, they began to wonder what the next portrait day, in a year, would look like.

"Can't wait for next year sis, hopefully we don't end up stuck in another cave." Carla joked.

"Don't worry, I lov e this day now and besides maybe next year we'll have more present in the portrait." Bia replied, thinking he next will be present to join in on the family tradition. "But for now, lets enjoy the rest of the night…" Bia coming back to the present as the two sisters enjoyed the fun night, alongside the rest of their family.

A few years later…

"But mom, dad…" Tyler complained. "What is the point of just staying still for so long for just a painting…"

"Yeah, wouldn't it be easier to just take a picture using a camera." Arthur agreeing with his two minute younger brother.

"Now boys, this is our family tradition, every year we do this…" Tiago told his sons. "You know your mother was looking froward to it when she first went.

"But dad…" Arthur and Tyler began to complain again as Tiago sighed, not knowing what to say, but luckily help came in the form of his two sisters as Bia and Carla flew towards the hollow their brother and his family lived in, landing down onto the hollow entrance.

"Hey brother, ready for another portrait day?" Carla asked.

"Yup, it's our nephews' first one too." Bia added as Arthur and Tyler rolled their eyes.

"Seriously aunties… You too…" Tyler groaned.

"I thought you would take our side…" Arthur discouraged that his two auntie shared their parents' love of portrait day.

"I take it you two aren't that excited?" Carla guessed as her nephews nodded their heads while she and Bia chuckled softly.

"Why don't your Auntie Carla and I tell you about a time I wasn't looking froward to the day…" Bia remembering the day she and Carla ended up stuck in a cave, but came out of it with a better relationship as sisters.

The End.

And that's a wrap on this story!
