S= I'm Stella what's your name JE= you guys, can you ask me why you're just fire fighters S= what's your name JE= jenny S= jenny how old are you?
J= 15. Where are you taking me?
S= to get checked out by the paramedics to make sure you are not hurt JE= I'm totally fine S= well people don't call 911 because they're totally fine K= the neighbor called said they were inside screaming bloody murder NB= yeah, my uncle, he was a fire fighter always said you need help fast report it as a fire S= jenny this is Sylvie and violet JE= oh God, I don't need to go to the hospital SB= that's fine. We can check you out here if that's what you want. Feel any pain in your head or your neck S= does this happen a lot you and your mom getting physical like that JE= you mean does she beat me know she's crazy, but not like that S= well like what then JE= look, she's not like that she's just been on my ass 24 seven and I just I can't deal with her ( see craver) she's not gonna let me back in is she SC= she's still pretty fired up JE= whatever I don't want to stay with her anyways so K= well we can't let you stay out here by yourself JE= I'm 15 I don't need a babysitter S= yeah I know but it's illegal things so we have to leave you with an adult you have a relative that lives nearby or any friends parents who will let you stay at their house while this all blows over JE= I don't have any relatives in Chicago and my friends are more like in school friends so S= OK the other option is we call child services JE= what if I called my dad?
S= OK you two in touch JE= he's from Decatur I mean that's where he lives. I know he'd come get me if I need him to. I can text him right now.
K= we still can't leave you staying out here alone S= what if you come back to the fire house with us and wait there
Jenny agree so we all head back to the firehouse than me and kelly fill Boden on what has happened
S= her dad lives in deCatuc but she said he'd be up here in a few hours so I figured that was a better option than calling Dcfs CB= absolutely they're already stretch pastor limit as it is she's safe here keep me posted S= will do K= sounds like her mother were really going at each other S= big time your mothers and daughters that's next level stuff
I just go and do my paperwork for the next hour or so then truck 81 gets a call to leave
S= hey if the Dad shows up while we are out, you sus him out K= you bet
Back at the fire house with Kelly
K= heard from your dad yet JE= yep traffic he should be here soon. Did all these people die in five hours.
K= some of them yeah JE= damn, I heard that's like the worst way to go K= these people meant a lot to us. Every one of them was family.
JE= sorry I don't know why I said that. I'm so stupid that sucks no matter how you go.
Back with Stella We clean up the incident and then head back to the firehouse
S= hey, she's still here K= yeah, dad's in traffic. Hey have you noticed the backpack thing S= no what what do you mean?
K= she never takes it off. She's been wearing it all day everywhere she goes.
It makes sense what color is saying But who know now we just went on her dad about a couple hours later
S= hey K= still no dad S= she's been saying an hour for four hours now the guy is not coming K= jenny was talking about the memorial wall before in a way that makes me think maybe she lost somebody close S= OK I'll go talk to her try and figure something out
I go and see where Gini when I find her in my office asleep, so as I cover her up and turn off my light, I see that her book bag is open so I go to check in to see what's inside of it when all of a sudden she wakes up and noticed that I'm looking inside of it
JE= what are you doing? Why are you looking through my stuff S= the zipper was open Jenny. What are you doing all that money JE= none of your business S= okay you're right, but Jenny if your dad isn't coming then it's my business so talk to me all right listen to me I got your back JE= yeah right I'm out of here ( leaves her office ) S= Hey Jenny hey Jenny just wait hey look it's too late for you to be out there by yourself.
JE= he's not coming back. OK my dad died four months ago S= OK so just stay here we'll figure this out together JE= you don't even seem surprised so what my mom told you and then you let me make a total ass out of myself whatever I don't need anyone's help ( runs away )
I try and run after Jenny but I couldn't catch her so I let her go I go back into the firehouse and tell Kelly what just happen and since it's late at night I wait until the morning to tell chief what happened, the next morning and chiefs office
S= so I called the police. I reported it as soon as she left but who knows where she went I mean maybe I mean with any luck. Maybe she decided to go home but I will track down the mom and see CZ= we are ready for you on the apron chief K= what are you supposed to be?
CZ= the package said video game murderer CB= let me know when you get a hold of the mom S= copy I should have gone after her K= if she wanted to go, she was going to go. You couldn't force her to stay. We'll find her.
Kelly makes me feel a little better, but I still feel bad about her running away after shift. I keep trying to look for her but ended up going to my mom's house to see if she came back home.
JM= what are you doing here?
S= after you left yesterday we took Jenny back to the fire house with us to wait for her dad I know she came clean about it last night right before she took off. Unfortunately, I don't know where she went, but I called the police are reported it and I would have called you if I had your number, but JM= she's in DCFS custody. The social worker called me this morning.
S= oh, I'm glad to hear she's OK JM= was that it S= look I don't mean to pry, but when ever we get a call from a domestic situation, there's usually some kind of neglect or abuse, and yet I'm just not getting any of that here JM= yeah, Jenny's dad was. He was a good man when he was clean but he couldn't stay that way and I couldn't handle it anymore so we split up. He died of an overdose not long after.
S= I am so sorry JM= yeah and of course Jenny blamed me you know that's why she's lashing out. She's completely out of control but things never got violent up until yesterday and I tried to look in her book bag and she just lost it.
S= I made the same mistake. I guess you know about the money then JM= what money S= she got I don't know 2000 $3000 in her book bag JM= look I don't know about any money and I'm done talking about it OK if Jenny wants to go find a new family let her,
JM= I'm not doing this with you lady. I'm sure you got good intentions but you don't know what you're talking about OK so just stay out of our business.
Jenny's mom walks into her house. I try my best so then I go home and talk to Kelly on what happens the next morning I called DCFS myself
S= really that's no I hear you great things to you. She's at Leavitt Street girls home. K= it could be worse S= yeah but the craziest part about it is she checked herself in there the woman I was talking to at DCFS. She said she has never seen that happen in 20 years that's weird right K= we don't know the whole story and people always hide the ugliest parts. I know I didn't tell anyone how bad it really was in my house did you S= no K= you talked about mothers and daughters, but fathers and sons that ain't no picnic either my senior year Benny and I went added about him cheating on my mom and oh, I snapped attacked him. I'll never forget, looking at him down on the ground and both of us suddenly realize that I was a stronger one now.
S= what did he do?
K= called his cock buddies on me, had me thrown in jail overnight after that I got the hell out of there and I moved in with apples's family never went back ( Stella kiss him) what S= how come you turned out, so damn good Kelly Severide K= because of you S= ah well yeah that was a rhetorical question
We both finish getting ready for work, but before going to work I stop at the girls home that Jenny check yourself into
S= what's her status now?
DL= well, DCFS will assign a caseworker, but who knows when a 15-year-old with no signs of abuse in the home, isn't a high priority in kids, her age, or just difficult to place, no matter what the circumstances are so S= thank you ( walks over to her) mind if I sit ( she does) jenny I got to tell this is the last place most things would go in your shoes teenagers running away happen a lot you know you could have Liam away when you were at the fire house or after you left but you didn't you came here JE= so I'm a weirdo mystery solved anyways, it's not like I can go home she doesn't want me and I don't want to be there S= it didn't sound like that when I talked to Her it sounds like your mother wants to make things better. She just doesn't know how.
JE= did she tell you what she did to my dad S= you can't control someone else's actions Jenny that's not on her JE= fine he was a druggie, but he didn't deserve to die. She's acting like she's not even sad about it she's just mad I guess that's why I took it.
S= why are you took what the money JE= the ring he gave it to her. It was my grandmothers, and it was worth a lot of money so I took it and sold it to a pawnshop and it's probably gone now, and she'll never forgive me S= jenny you know your mom could have called the cops gotten you in deep trouble, but when I showed up to talk to her, she was trying to protect you take care of you no matter how angry she might've been tell me about the ring
Jenny tells me all about this ring and I take the money so I can get the ring back after shift I had to the pawnshop
S= hi PS= hi looking for something special S= actually I am ( shows him ) do you still have it?
PS= ( finds it) gorgeous piece, isn't it?
S= ( lays money down ) yeah, I need it back PS= play six 7500 you got 7500 there S= no you got the paperwork for that ring PS= that ring was brought S= you bought it from a minor which is illegal in the state of Illinois but I'm pretty sure you already knew that PL= look, the kid was desperate I was trying to do her a favor you know S= you're a real hero can I get that ring back for what you paid for or do I need to call one of my buddies down at the 21st district? I'm sure they'd be happy to come down here and take a look at your inventory.
He gives me it back real fast after I got in the place now that shift is over with me and kelly decided to take Jenny home to her mother to see if that can help mend their relationship
S= you okay JE= I'm just I mean, are you sure my mom even really wants me there S= yeah, I am K= hey, you got this
Jenny gets out of the car as me and Kelly watch on. We see that the mother forgives her and let her in after they enter the house me and Kelly drive off and go to our place and just talk about our past that we've had with our parents.:
