Chapter 15

Mary walked to her, taking Mercedes' hand in hers. "Then help me Mercedes. Help me get my son back. Help me get Sam's baby brother back."

"How? Sam is not going to let me risk my life for his brother."

Mary nodded. "Sam doesn't have to know. We go, trade you for Stevie then my team bursts in there, you will only be alone with her for like five minutes."

"I can't just go Mary, I need to talk to Sam, I need to make sure he's okay with all of this." Mercedes said, looking at the door.

"Okay, well here, let me show you my plan, at least this way you can have a clear idea." Mary said, leading Mercedes to her car.

Mercedes sighed following her to the car and watched as she opened the trunk. "I don't understand why it's empty."

Mary nodded. "I know."

Mercedes felt a pair of hands grip her tightly as Mary stepped away from her. She struggled against the hands as she felt herself being pushed into a van. Ropes went around her hands and feet, as a gag moved over her lips.

"My son? Where is Stevie! Quinn promised my son for Mercedes."

Hunter tossed Mary a phone. "She changed her mind. Use the phone to say goodbye."

Mary gasped running towards Hunter who shoved her back as he got into the van and it drove off.

"No! NOOOOO!" Mary screamed as the front door opened.

Mary picked up the phone Hunter dropped as Diane ran out the house, seeing Mary standing there distraught. "Mary, where is Mercedes?"

"Diane I…I just…I."

Diane's blood ran cold seeing the look on Mary's face, she knew something was wrong. "What did you do? MARY WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

Sam, Dwight and Mia ran out of the house as Mary turned the phone shakily in her hand as a video started to play and Quinn came onto the screen.

"Mary, Mary, Mary, I know we had an agreement, the Jones girl for your son, but then I realized that I liked the revenge of taking two people Sam cared about away from him. This is my revenge for every time Sam came around, you wanted me to do your dirty work and because of the agreement we had I did it. So thank you Mary, for finally giving me everything I need to get everything I want."

The phone cut off and Sam glared at his mother. "What did you do?" he said through gritted teeth. "Dammit mom, what did you do?"

Mercedes struggled trying to get the ropes untied, but not fairing very well with it. After she was shoved into the van and driven to God knows where, she was seated in a small room.

"Sam…" she cried weakly as the door opened.

"Sorry not Sam, I'm Hunter and you have been requested." He said walking over to her.

Mercedes exhaled trying to stay calm. "Please…you don't have to do this, I'm pregnant, please."

"I am here to do a job, that's it." He said tossing her over his shoulder and carrying her into an office, he threw her on the couch and she whimpered as her shoulder hit the edge.

"I'll take it from here Hunter." Quinn said moving to Mercedes and taking her blindfold off.

Hunter nodded, walking out of the room. Quinn smirked. "You know, now that I am staring at you, really getting a close up look at you, I see it."

Mercedes cut her eyes at her. "See what?"

"I see what Sam sees in you, it's a shame really." She shrugged. "You were a means to an end at first, but now I am going to get the best revenge I could ever want. I am going to kill you." Quinn laughed. "It's the only thing I can do."

"You are crazy. What is wrong with you? Killing me because you are jealous?"

"He was mine. I had everything I wanted and then you had to go and kick Justin's ass. As a woman, I was happy that bastard got handled, by a woman no less, but I was in bed with Sam when he got that call…the call that put you right into his life."

There was a knock at the door and Hunter walked in dragging Stevie.

"Ah just in time, Mercedes, you remember Stevie…"

Stevie looked at Mercedes, frowning as he was put down next to her.

"You two get comfortable, it's only going to be a few hours and then I am going to get my revenge on Sam and Mary."

Mercedes shook her head. "He won't come!" She shouted, causing Quinn to stop and look at her over her shoulder. "I broke things off with him because all of this was too much and I had a boyfriend before him… I'm pregnant with his child."

Quinn turned completely towards her. "You're lying."

"I can take a test to prove it… there's no way it would be this dark if it was his…" Mercedes said, hoping like hell this would work. "We always used condoms… so I know it's not his."

Quinn narrowed her eyes at her. "Well lucky for you, I keep tests lying around, you can take it in front of me. Get her up."

Hunter picked Mercedes up and placed her on her feet before shoving her towards the bathroom. Luckily for Mercedes she had to pee, she just had an issue with the man looking at her.

"Can… he turn around?"

Quinn sighed, "we don't have all day, just pee." She said, shoving a test into her hand.

Mercedes frowned, taking the test and opening it. She quickly sat and placed the test under her so she could get it over with. After she finished she capped the test off and placed it down.

"There." She said, and Quinn shot her a look.

"You better hope this test is positive and dark. Or you and that unborn Evans baby will get it."

Mercedes closed her eyes, she knew it was Sam's, but she knew it would be dark so she just prayed Quinn believed her to buy her a little bit more time.

Quinn paced the room before walking over and looking at the test. "Fuck!" She spat angrily.

"See, I told you, Sam doesn't want anything to do with me. Why do you think I was outside when this goon grabbed me?"

"So Mary this…"

"For nothing… I told him I was pregnant and that it wasn't his, he blew up at me and that's why I was out there." She answered, adding a sniffle.

"Hunter! Come with me. Now!" Quinn said, walking out the room angrily. Mercedes watched Hunter follow her and shut the door, before turning to Stevie to make sure he was okay.

"Stevie?" She moved closer to him. "Stevie, are you okay?"

"How did you get here really?" He whispered.

Mercedes hesitated for a moment. "I was outside talking to your mom and that guy just grabbed me. Are you okay?" she asked, looking at his bloody leg.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me. You need to get out of here… I don't think she's just going to let you go even if you're pretending not to be pregnant by my brother." He replied.

"I know she won't. I just needed to buy some time…and I am not going anywhere without you Stevie. I won't leave you here." She said determined.

He shook his head. "This is light work, I'm playing hurt. I know they're planning for something else and I just need to get as much insight while I can. Sam isn't the only one that's trained. Do you remember anything when they brought you in? How many steps did it take?" He asked.

Mercedes sat next to him lifting his leg so she could get a better look no matter what he said. "I know the drive was pretty long…there was a hood over my eyes but I smelled water…heard seagulls…he carried me in but it was winding I know that."

He grunted. "Did the floor have a sound? Did you smell anything once inside?"

"The floors didn't squeak at all, it sounded more like concrete. I smelled saw dust which is weird. I also heard a man say something about a nearby train…" She said feeling a bit confused.

He nodded. "We're too far away to make a run for and probably too close to the water to get a decent signal out… did it feel like he was struggling to walk? Like sand or rocks?"

"When we got out of the van he was struggling so it was sand for sure…wait…signal…" She reached into her bra and pulled out her phone. "Man checked everywhere but the one place I always forget I keep my phone!"

"Dial 643-555-9876, once it rings twice, hang up and then call it back again." He instructed.

Mercedes nodded dialing the number but frowned when there wasn't a signal. "Keep pressure on your leg and keep it elevated." She said walking towards the window. It was blacked out where she couldn't make out anything but she had two bars. Hitting a dial she called let it ring twice then hung up. Dialing the number again she looked at Stevie. "What exactly am I supposed to say here?"

"Nothing, just wait for the line to connect. You'll be asked a question, say Happy and then hang up again. You'll receive a message right after that, it's imperative that you open the link, then leave the phone there." Stevie explained.

Mercedes nodded as someone picked up. "How are you feeling today?" Came a voice over the line. Mercedes looked at Stevie. "Happy." She said as she hung up. After a minute a text came through. She opened the link then turned the sound off as she laid the phone flat on the window sill.

Walking back over to Stevie she took a deep breath. "I know it's through and through but you are bleeding a lot."

He smirked. "It's not all mine and it's starting to stop here, tear off a piece of my shirt." He said, letting out a heavy breath. "Tie it off as tight as you can.

Mercedes nodded, tearing off a piece of the shirt and tying it around his leg tightly. "Your brother has one crazy ass ex huh?" She asked, laughing softly.

"Ha, exs… none of them were remotely sane. Q just takes the cake in the Sam Evans catalog of ex's." He replied, groaning as she tied off his leg. "Thank you."

She nodded. "I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing when it comes to me." She sighed. "This has definitely been one wild ride that I did not expect."

He smirked, looking her over. "He's not this way with anyone else if that helps. I mean he got you pregnant and I sure as hell hope you don't think it was an accident either."

Mercedes laughed. "Yeah we never used protection it was just a matter of time, the crazy thing is I really didn't care. Everyone else, I demanded it but with Sam I just wanted him." She ran her hand through her hair. "We can't just sit here."

Stevie nodded. "Well, I more so meant that he told me when he was ready to have kids we would know when the woman he loves says she's pregnant." He said, "I agree and you should get ready soon to run."

"Oh…" She said taking in what he said. Shaking her head she frowned. "I am not going to leave you. I already told you that."

He slowly stood, "Like I said, he isn't the only one that's been trained. Move back seven steps and turn your back to the window."

Mercedes did what he said. "So your mom trained you all? Are you all in the CIA or FBI or government?"

He laughed. "Neither, I just grew up an Evans. Cover your ears."

Mercedes nodded as she used her hands to cover her ears, right before there was a loud boom and ringing sound, she felt the ground rumble underneath her.

"RUN!" Stevie shouted, grabbing her arm and guiding her through the corridor and listening to the shouting to help guide them away from their captives.

There was a lot of smoke swirling around and Mercedes kept her head down, allowing Stevie to tug her along until they burst through a door and saw they were cliff side. He looked at her, closing his eyes, muttering something before pushing her over.

Mercedes' eyes grew wide as she felt her feet slip from under her and screamed when she realized he'd pushed her over the cliff. It felt like she was falling forever before she hit something with a thud but there was no water.

"Open your eyes, baby."

Mercedes could feel her heart pounding out of her chest as she shakingly opened her eyes and saw Sam hovering over her. "Sam? Am I? Is it really you?"

"Don't you ever agree to do something like that again, do you hear me?" He said, pulling her up and holding her tightly. "Stevie was fine, he was never in danger!"

"He was shot! And let's not forget I didn't agree, not really. I was tricked!" She defended.

Sam pulled away, just enough to look at her. "My mother is cunning but she didn't trick you.

She moved away from him. "Then what do you call her telling me she had a plan, leading me to her car only to have a man gag me, and throw me in a van?"

"Sounds like everything you've been through taught you nothing. You wouldn't even let me take you but my mother?"

"Wow…" She moved away from him. "I was just…you know what. Whatever. Take me home to my parents please."

He shook his head. "No, you're not going back there. We gotta get you check out first."

"I'm fine." She said looking around. "I just want to get away from here."

He frowned. "I wasn't trying to upset you, I… I was worried, okay? You're pregnant and Quinn is crazy… she isn't- I was worried and I'm sorry if I came off like I didn't care."

Mercedes sighed, rubbing her hands up and down her arms. "I just want to go home, and you should go take care of your brother."

He nodded, taking his jacket off and draping it over her arms. "Okay, they'll make sure you're taken care of… I'll reach out when this is all over." He said hopping out of the raft and swimming to shore.

Mercedes didn't say anything, just nodded, wrapping his jacket tighter around her as he swam away, fear and confusion still playing in her mind.

Sam stood out the water and walked over to Stevie. "Hey little brother how are you feeling?"

"I'll survive. Hows your wifey? Shes a stubborn one, that woman."

Sam looked back into the water as one of his colleagues helped her off the raft and lead her to the car. "Stubborn among a lot of other things. Lets go end this so I can get back to my stubborn baby moma. I might even let you do the honors and cuff Quinn."

Stevie laughed, shaking his head as he followed Sam into the building. Looking around he frowned seeing a few of Quinn's men lined up but no sign of her. Walking over to Hunter Sam grabbed him by the collar.

"Where is she?"

"Ha, She's long gone. You won't find her. How's Mercedes? Now there's a real woman, between me and you I enjoyed frisking her." Hunter sneered.

Sam slammed him against the brick wall hard. "I'll end you!" He growled as Stevie gripped his shoulder.

"Sam, this is what he wants. Don't."

Sam let out a heavy breath, dropping the man to the ground but not before punching him in the mouth. "Don't fucking disrespect my girl again."

Hunter laughed as he dropped. "There won't be anything left of your girl soon."

Stevie stepped closer, "That's where you're wrong. You and your friends really need to make sure the person you thought was unconscious actually is. I know where they're headed and if we hurry we can intercept them and end this for all."

Hunter grit his teeth. "You won't make it in time, you shouldn't have left her alone pretty boy, Quinn always wins, as many times as she had you, you should know that."

Sam smirked. "Who said she was alone? What makes you think I'm alone?" He asked, nodding down at Hunter's chest where a bright red dot slowly inched up to his forehead. "Your time is limited, you might want to give me something worth saving you for."

Hunter looked around frantically, "Screw you!" He spat. Sam shrugged letting out a whistle which was followed by a gun being fired and Hunter's screams.

"The next bullet won't miss." Sam said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Last chance."

"Fine! She's-"

Don't worry, Sam's gonna make things right but first we gotta get that bitch!
