Episode 28: The Precious Package

Sometime ago, somewhere across the sea, at the town Captain Storm and his crew are staying. The ship is almost done being built so it can set sail again. At the house he's been staying in, Captain Storm is writing a letter using an inkwell and a quill feather. Captain Storm is writing a letter that has 'Dear Red Rose,' on it. He continues to write the letter and concludes it to. 'Your father, Captain Storm Wilds.'

After that, Captain Storm folds the letter, places it in an envelope, and places it inside of a large box that has some small boxes and other shapes, wrapped up presents inside. He then closes up the box and tapes it.

Captain Storm picks up the box and says, "There we go. I sure hope this reaches you, Red Rose. On the Inkwell Isles."

Captain Storm then walks outside and brings it to the post office. Soon, the package is checked out and is going to be delivered.

Storm smiles and says, "Hope this package reaches you, and hope you are doing fine wherever you are."

Time has passed Sugarland, Baroness Von Bon Bon and Red Rose are in their candy castle. They both are checking over the people who have been trapped in Sugarland, but able to be free. Some of them decide to return home or to go traveling. Others have made Sugarland their home and still live there, and decide to explore the isle. Some also decide to simply visit and live outside of Sugarland, but still visit every once in a while.

"It seems that everyone is doing well in Sugarland," Red Rose says.

"I agree. And everyone is happy that they're able to leave and go out into the world. So am I. However, it's been long since I've been out of Sugarland so I don't really know about getting acquainted with the people of Inkwell Isle again," Bon Bon says.

"I understand. It's been a long time since I've stayed in one place for as long as I have," Red Rose says.

"Guess while sailing with your father you don't stay on land for too long," Bon Bon replies.

"Not much, but hey, I love exploring on the high seas and having adventures to new places," Red Rose says.

Then hugs Bon Bon, "But it's also good being able to spend some time with you."

"Me too my little rosy cakes," Bon Bon happily says, and hugs Red Rose back.

Suddenly, they hear Cuphead's voice, "Hey Red Rose."

The two let go of their embrace and turn to see Cuphead and Mugman walking over to them. Mugman is pulling a wagon that has a pot with a lid on it, a jar, and a basket.

"Hello Baroness," Mugman says.

"Hi Cuphead. Hi Mugman. It's great to see you guys," Red Rose says.

"You too," Cuphead says.

"It's too see you boys again. What brings you to Sugarland?" Bon Bon asks.

"We're here for a friendly visit and want to know if we can hang out with Red Rose," Cuphead says.

Then Mugman says as he presents the wagon, "And we also got you a few things."

"Elder Kettle made his famous baby stew, and we helped make some blueberry muffins. We also got some strawberry jam for you," Mugman says.

"Aww, how thoughtful of you. I can't wait to try it," Bon Bon says.

Then Cuphead turns to Red Rose, "So Rose, think we can hang out with. We like to see what you guys do with the place."

"Sure. I know it's been over a week since we last you guys were here," Red Rose says.

"Indeed. A lot have either made themselves more settled in Sugarland or decide to live outside and come to visit. And we're doing our best to have more interaction with the outside world," Bon Bon explains.

"Sounds like everything is doing good," Mugman says.

"It sure is," Cuphead replies.

Then asks, "So mind if we hang out."

"Sure. We don't mind," Red Rose happily says.

"Yeah. The more the merrier," Bon Bon says.

"Thank you," Mugman says.

"Red Rose! Baroness!" A girl's voice calls out.

The group look to see a young girl around Cuphead, Mugman, and Red Rose's age hurry over. She has a white color tea cup like a head with a handle. She also has a pink and rim decorated with flowers, and has a small silver tea spoon in her head. She is wearing a black shirt with a white collar, and a light purple skirt. She is also wearing light pink shoes.

"Oh, hi Teacup. How are things going?" Red Rose replies.

"I'm doing fine. I also like to let you know that everyone is doing good. We're also doing our best to grow other kinds of fruits and veggies here," Teacup says.

"That's good to hear," Red Rose says.

Confused, Cuphead asks, "Uh Red Rose, who is that?"

"Oh, this is Teacup. She's a new friend I made here," Red Rose says.

Then says to Teacup, "Teacup, these are my friends Cuphead and Mugman."

"Hi Teacup," Cuphead says.

"It's nice to meet you," Mugman says.

"It's nice to meet you too," Teacup says.

Then Cuphead says, "Wait, I remember seeing you. You were one of the people on the isles that ended up being cursed."

"Yes," Teacup answers with a nod.

Then explains, I've been trapped here for a few months after eating the Baroness' castle. I always have a sweet tooth, especially with cake. Now that I'm free, I was able to return home to my parents and my brothers and sisters. They were very worried that I disappeared and had no idea where I disappeared to. I live with my family in the town of Inkwell Isles, but decided to come visit to help out."

"We're glad to hear things are going well for you," Mugman says.

"Thank you," Teacup says.

"And things are going very well here in Sugarland," Bon Bon says, and giggles.

Then happily says, "And I was hoping that once we all get Sugarland settled and want to make it well known, I'm going to plan a ball."

"A ball?" Cuphead says, confused.

"It's a dance, Cuphead. She invites people to attend a ball, where there's food, drinks, music, and dancing," Mugman answers.

"A dance, huh? That sounds really neat," Cuphead says.

"Yeah. A dance will be nice," Mugman says.

"I agree. And I'm going to invite everyone here, and many see if others outside of Sugarland could come," Bon Bon says.

Then turns to the brothers, "And you both are invited as well."

"Sounds fun. Can Elder Kettle come as well?" Mugman asks with a smile.

"Sure, the more the merrier. Besides, I also want to thank him as well for taking care of my little Rosy cakes," Bon Bon says, and hugs Red Rose.

Red Rose giggles, "Oh mom."

Soon the two begin giggling.

Just then, they hear someone say, "Excuse me."

The group soon spots the mail man walking over to them as he's holding a package in his hands.

The mail man asks, "Is there a Ms. Red Rose here."

Red Rose lets go of her mom and walks over, "I'm Red Rose."

"I have a package for you from far away, probably across the sea," The mail man says, and gives her the package.

Red Rose takes it and says, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Now, I'll need you to sign here please," The mail man says, and holds a clipboard and a pen.

Red Rose takes the pen and signs her name on it.

"Thank you. You all have a nice day," The mail man says, and walks away to deliver the rest of his mail.

"Huh, I wonder who would be sending you a package?" Mugman wonders.

"Maybe you won some kind of prize," Cuphead suggests.

"But I haven't entered any contest or game show and such," Red Rose says.

"But who could have sent it?" Teacup asks.

"Let's see if there's a name on the box," Red Rose says.

Red Rose looks at the box and is able to see a shipping label on the top of the box. Red Rose reads it and her eyes wide open in shock.

In shock, Red Rose says, "No way…"

"What's wrong, Rose?" Cuphead asks.

"Whose it from?" Mugman asks.

"It's from… it's from my dad…" Red Rose says, surprised and shows a smile on his face.

"Your dad?!" The boys exclaim in surprise.

"Yeah. This is my dad's handwriting, and trust me, no one can imitate his writing," Red Rose says.

"Well, aren't you gonna open it?" Cuphead asks.

"Let's go inside and open it," Red Rose says.

Sometime later, everyone is in Red Rose's room and she places the package on the bed.

"I can't wait to see what you got in there," Cu[head says.

"Yeah. I wonder what your dad sent you," Mugman says.

"I'm not sure, but I do hope there's something that would let me know how he's doing," Red Rose says.

"I'm sure Storm would send you something, and he might have sent you some presents," Bon Bon says.

Red Rose giggles and says, "Well, we won't know until we open it." She then brings out her knife and says, "Here goes nothing."

Red Rose then gently pierces the knife on the box and slides it down to cut the tape on the top. Then do the same on the side. Once the tapes are cut, Red Rose places the knife down on the small furniture close by and opens the box. Red Rose looks inside to see a few small boxes with, and other shapes each of them are wrapped in wrapping paper with a ribbon wrapped or simply attached. There is also a small envelope inside as well. Cuphead, Mugman, and Teacup look inside to see the presents.

"Wow! You got a lot of stuff," Cuphead says.

"And there's a letter," Red Rose says and takes the letter out of the box.

"What does the letter say?" Mugman asks.

"It's best to open and see," Red Rose says.

She opens the envelope and takes out the letter inside. She unfolds it and begins to read the letter in front of everyone.

Red Rose reads, "

Dear Red Rose,

I hope you're alright since the hurricane a few weeks ago, and my crew, especially myself, have been very worried about you and wonder if you're okay. We ended up hearing you on Roll the Dice on the Radio so we figured you must be on the Inkwell Isles, and glad to hear you're okay. I hope you are doing your best living on Inkwell Isles. I like to hear how you've been doing on the isles and hear of the friends you make and the adventure you had. As for me and my crew, we've been working on building a new ship to sail out to sea and to the Inkwell Isles. We all really miss you. I hope to receive a letter from you soon.

Your father,

Captain Storm Wilds."

Red Rose shows a small smile and mutters, "Dad…"

Cuphead places his hand on Red Rose's shoulder, "You really miss him."

"I do. I really miss him, really really miss him," Red Rose says.

"But from what the letter is saying, It seems that your father and his crew are alright, and have been staying on a different isle across the sea," Mugman says.

"And they're getting their ship built so they can come to the Inkwell Isles themselves," Cuphead says.

"You're right. And I'll be sure to send dad a letter of all the adventures and fun we had," Red Rose says.

Cuphead nervously giggles, "Uh, do you think we leave out the fact that you and I owe our souls to the Devil?"

"I was thinking about that, but it wouldn't hurt to let him know how we keep outsmarting him," Red Rose says.

"Yeah. I still think it was funny how you threw that Die at King Dice, or the time got away while rolling down the hill on a watermelon," Cuphead says.

Soon, everyone begins laughing.

"You really did that?" Teacup asks, giggling.

"We sure did. We ended up getting sticky and watermelons on our heads," Red Rose says.

Red Rose looks at the letter and notices, "Oh, there's something else on the letter."

"What is it?" Cuphead says.

"The letter says, "Red Rose says, "P.S.: My crew and I have gotten you some presents from the isles we've been staying far across the sea. We hope you enjoy them and share them with friends."

"Well then, let's look inside and see what you got," Cuphead says.

Red Rose takes out the first present. It's round, and it's wrapped in blue wrapping paper, tied on the top by a green ribbon. Red Rose unties it and unwraps the present to reveal a bright red rubber ball.

"It's a ball," Red Rose says.

She then tosses it on the ground and it begins bouncing. Red Rose catches it and places it on the ground.

"This is cool. We can play ball together," Cuphead says.

"But not inside the castle," Bon Bon says.

"We promise mom," Red Rose says.

"What else you got?" Mugman asks.

Red Rose reaches in and takes out a flat rectangular box. It's wrapped in red wrapping paper and an orange ribbon.

She looks at the table and says, "This one is from Toadstool."

Red Rose opens the present to reveal a blue book with a pen attached to it.

"It's a journal," Red Rose says.

"And good thing. You were starting to run out of space in your other journal," Cuphead says.

"Yeah. Let's see what else I got," Red Rose says.

Red Rose opens some of her other packages and she receives a few things: a mandolin, some nice clothes including a beautiful dress, a backpack, a toy top, a stuffed teddy bear, some snacks like cookies and treats, and other gifts.

"Wow Red Rose, you got a lot of stuff," Mugman says.

"Yeah. And some of them are pretty fun," Cuphead says.

Red Rose looks in the box, "There's one more present left."

Red Rose then takes out a small black box that has a red ribbon tied to it.

"I wonder what this is," Red Rose wonders.

Red Rose opens the box to reveal a beautiful gold shell with a gold chain attached to it.

"Oh my," Teacup says, amazed.

"It's shiny," Cuphead says.

"It's beautiful," Mugman says.

Red Rose looks, "It seems to open up."

Red Rose then opens the necklace and a glowing orb begins floating on it. Soon, the orb shows a scenery of what appears to be the coral reef with merpeople and fishes swim around happily and it's playing beautiful music. Everyone is astonished and touched to hear the beautiful music being played. Then Red Rose closes the shell necklace after it's done playing the song.

Red Rose smiles, "Oh dad. Thank you. I… I miss you so…" Then tears begin to fall from her face, "I miss you… so much…"

Bon Bon then walks to Red Rose and gently gives her a hug.

Red Rose hugs Bon Bon and says in sadness, "I really miss him mom."

"I know sweetie. I miss him too," Bon Bon says.

Cuphead, Mugman, and Teacup watch in sadness. The two females continue to hug each other.

After the sad moment, Red Rose has a letter written to her father as soon as possible. It's a long letter, but Red Rose has a lot to say. Cuphead and Mugman help Red Rose with the letter and place some pictures in a small package, along with a few gifts to Captain Storm and some of the crew. Even Bon Bon gives them some treats for them to enjoy. Then they have the package sent from the post office and it will be delivered.

"Well, there it goes," Mugman says.

"Off to where your dad is," Cuphead says.

"Yeah. I really miss him," Red Rose says.

"We know, but cheer up. Your dad is alright and is out there. And now, he'll know that you're safe once he gets your letter," Mugman says.

"Yeah," Red Rose says.

Then Cuphead asks, "Wanna hang out at our place?"

"Sure," Red Rose says.

"Then let's go," Mugman says.

Then Teacup asks, "Mind if I come?"

"We don't mind. The more the merrier," Cuphead says.

Then the four begin to head back to the cottage as they laugh with smiles on their faces.
