Chapter 24. breaking free and end of year two.
Jakob's eyes went from confused to understanding. This was about Emma trying to maintain her hold over him.
Jakob flicked out his own wand, but before he could raise it, Emma spoke,
"Quiritatio!" Jakob raised his hands to his ear, trying in vain to block out the earsplitting scream that he was hearing.
When Emma let go of the curse, she walked forward to her little pest, who was on his knees, still having his hands covering his ears.
He could feel the blood going through his fingers as the eardrums had been damaged.
She hunched down and laid a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, my little pest, I never want you to be hurt, but I can't." She stopped mid-sentence as Jakob, with his right hand, grabbed her wand hand and, with his other, took a choking grip around her throat. He stood up and slammed her against the wall, tightening his grip around her wrist until he felt something snap, and she dropped her wand. Jakob felt a Déjà vu of this situation. Her face quickly warped to Amy's, and he blinked, and he had to blink to get his mind under control.
He could see the surprise, fear and pain in his sister's eyes, and he raised her higher so that her legs weren't touching the floor anymore.
"You think you can stand against me?" Asked Jakob almost in a whisper as his sister was trying to scratch his arms to get free, panic starting to show in her eyes as she understood that this might be the end for her.
"I've done things. Things that make a dementor's kiss seem like mercy."
Emma was trying to kick him, but she could only see stars, and the power in her kicks almost did not even reach her brother.
"Don't make me show you the things I'm capable of." hissed Jakob as Emma's vision started to blur and her body slowly started to go limb.
"Release her now!"
Jakob turned and saw Thomas with his wand pointed at him.
Jakob let go of his sister, who fell down on the floor, gasping for breath.
"Father, it was not his fault, I," Emma said in a choked voice as she raised her broken hand against her father, trying to calm him down while her other hand massaged her throat.
"You dare lay hands on your sister, boy," growled Thomas and raised his wand seeing, looking at the boy who was supposed to be his heir and son.
Jakob turned towards his father, prepared for the punishment but showing a glint in his eyes and a smirk. He stood tall, not showing any fear towards his head of house, which made Thoma's rage take over.
"Father, no, it was me I."
"Crusio!" roared Thomas, and Jakob fell to his knees, shaking in pain.
This was worse than last time. He had never felt that kind of pain before, and he felt his muscles starting to shake. He wanted to scream, but his jaw was locked, biting down on his lip, making blood fill up in his mouth. He did not feel that pain, not even registering that the warm liquid was slowly running out from his mouth and dripping down on the floor.
"Father, stop!" Emma cried as she hugged her brother, trying to shield him from the curse. She looked horrified seeing him shake like this and started to scream again at her father.
"Thomas ended the spell, and Jakob stopped shaking. He was still on his knees with his hands on the floor, taking calming breaths.
Lord Quade could not see his son's face as it was turned towards the floor, but he could see that blood dripping down. Probably because he had bitten his tongue or lip, thought Thomas.
When Lord Quade saw the situation before him and understood what he had just done to his heir, he felt something inside him break. What had he done to his son? Jakob had not even raised his wand against him or made a sound. Something about the boy scared lord Quade, and he turned around to leave, but then he heard Jakob whisper almost with a hissing melody.
"Remember this day. Because you will pay for this, father."
Thomas turned around and looked at his only boy, his heir and saw those hateful eyes staring back at him.
Thomas did not answer, and Emma looked like her world had just changed for the worse.
"What have I done?" She whispered as her father turned and walked away from the two siblings.
Emma turned towards her brother and stroked his hair.
"I didn't know that he would do that. I'm sorry." said Emma trying desperately to mend the wounds she had made."
"Get out," whispered Jakob, not looking at his sister.
"pest, please let me just-"
"Get out!" roared Jakob and swept his hand. An Invisible force pushed his sister, and she was banished from his room. The door slammed closed, and after a few seconds, when Jakob still took breaths, feeling his magic healing the body from the curse, he heard that Emma had gotten up.
"Please, Jakob, I'm sorry I did not mean to cause this. Please let me in so we can fix this. I love you!" Emma pleaded with him and banged on the door, but Jakob ignored her and stood up. He walked over to his desk and continued to read where he had left off about the dementors.
The banging and pleading stopped after a few minutes as the hoarse voice of Emma gave up and slowly walked away. He could hear her crying, and Jakob stood up and went over to his large floor-to-ceiling window. He stared out of it at the fields where his small cluster of Hippogriffs was running free, and he noticed that a new child had been born. It was Running alongside its parents, who showed how to get off the ground by flapping their wings beside the little beast. The little Hypogriff mimicked what its parents were doing and slowly lifted off the ground, a bit clumsy, but one of the parents flew under it to make sure to catch it if it fell.
Jakob smiled, and a tear slowly ran down his cheek as he witnessed the display. He sighed, returned to his desk, and picked up his book.
"I really hate to be back here," he whispered.
The morning after, Jakob went up early, knowing that his father would get up in about an hour. He opened the door seeing Susie and Feemey standing there making breakfast.
They both turned around when they saw Jakob, and Feemey rushed over to him, taking a low bow so that her ears flapped.
"What would master Jakob wish to eat for breakfast?"
Jakob smiled and patted her balled head, making the elf look like Christmas was early.
"Just a bowl of fruit and a glass of water, thanks Feemey." The elf rushed away and started with her task while Susie went over to him with a sad smile.
"I guess you know what happened yesterday?" asked Jakob as he received a big motherly hug. He returned it, and she cupped his cheek in her hands.
"I have discussed with him about what happened, and you know your father. He is a stubborn lord. But I could see regret in his eyes."
Jakob smiled and took a step back.
"My father is a swine." Shrugged, Jakob jumped up and sat on the counter while Feemey arrived with the fruit bowl.
"Do you know why I hate to board the train to school, Susie?"
The woman frowned a bit about this new piece of information and shook her head.
"It's because I see all those other students with their families. Parents who hugged them. Tells them to be safe."
Susie stood in front of her boy and tried to hold back tears as she knew he would stop if he saw her crying.
"I don't wish that my father did those things. It would be weird, but... I can't help to wonder if I might have ended up like someone else if he had been. Someone good, perhaps." Jakob said while piercing a piece of mango on his fork and eating eat with a shrug and smile towards the mother he wished he had.
Susie walked over to him and grabbed his hand.
"You are the greatest boy I have ever met, Jakob Quade. The way you take care of Ella i-"
"I'm not," said Jakob and Susie could see the smile falter in a blink of an eye.
"But I'm okay with that. To be able to do what I need to, I can't be good. But sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Emma And father had been more like you and Ella."
He jumped down, hugged her, told his slave that he would be leaving, and walked out from the kitchen with both Susie and Feemey watching him go.
"Feemey has never seen master like this. Is master Jake sick?"
Susie looked over to the door and took a deep breath knowing that being emotional had to wait.
"No, Feemey, your master has just made a decision."
"What decision has master Jakob made?" Asked the house elf looking curiously at her friend.
"I don't know," said Susie, still watching the door.
Jakob walked towards the floo room to get back to Hogsmeade.
His mansion was empty, and the echo was the only thing keeping him company as he walked through the different halls. When he arrived inside the floo room, he walked over to the black fireplace and took a pinch of floo in his hand. He stepped inside and said with a firm voice.
"Hogsmeade." The door opened as he threw down the floo, and he looked up to see his sister rushing in with her blonde hair swaying as she tried to stop him.
"Jakop, please wait! I..."
The last look Jakob saw before the green fire engulfed him was the pleading eyes of his sister.
When the Slytherin boy returned to Hogwarts, he was in a foul mood.
He entered the great hall where students had begone to eat breakfast and sat beside his friends.
"What was it like?" Asked Pansy, who sat beside him.
"Draco does not want to tell us anything." She answered his unspoken question as he turned to his friend, who sat in front of him, looking down at his porridge in disgust.
Jakob told them about the dementors and the kiss. Students all around listened to what the Slytherin boy had to say. Jakob told them the short version, and his friends and other Slytherins looked almost a bit sick hearing how the dementor had taken off its hood and devoured his soul.
"That's about it. then I went home." Shrugged Jakob and dug into his toast.
Draco looked over at his friend in stunned disgust as he saw how Jakob had just shrugged it off like it was a bug on his shoulder. When they were done and headed for herbology, Draco stopped him, telling the others to go on.
"How can you talk about that?" asked the blonde, looking at his best friend, who looked back confused.
"About what?"
"the things we saw yesterday. Don't you feel sick over how that thing ate his soul? Asked Draco looking almost suspiciously at the black-haired boy.
Jakob shrugged.
"Not really. He deserved it."
Draco stopped and looked baffled at him.
"Deserved it? A dark creature sucked out his soul. What does someone need to do to deserve that?"
Jake turned towards his friend and did not recognise who this person was.
"Am I talking to the same Draco who wished not so long ago that a basilisk would kill every mudblood in this school? Draco, Lockhart was a monster and needed to be dealt with."
"The basilisk does not prevent you from reaching the afterlife. Father told me that when a dementor devours your soul, there is nothing left."
Jakob sighed and walked over to him.
"Draco, it was horrible to see I-"
"I don't think you really mean that. I saw you. You were leaning in, for Merlin's sake! You looked like you thought it was interesting and wanted to see it again."
Jakob frowned.
"Well, it was. It's not every day you get to see that, and I, for one, don't feel sorry about him. Why do you?"
Draco shook his head.
"It's not about that, Jake. It's about you. You have changed, and sometimes I don't even recognise you anymore."
So that is what he really means, thought Jakob and switched approaches.
"Alright then, why don't we change that?"
Draco frowned in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
Jakob had already been preparing to ask Draco this. Knowing that Draco's home was the only place, his father could not refuse him to visit this summer.
"The problem is that we haven't hung out as much as we used to. So I propose this. You, me. All summer. We can meet others and do things, but we promise that we will be together this whole summer break. Like when we were little before Hogwarts and all the responsibilities."
Draco's eyes widen, and a grin spreads out on his face. Forgetting all about the fight they just had.
"That would be sick!" Draco said as they started walking.
"Can you write to your father and see if we can stay at your estate? I could write to mine but do we really want Emma and Ella disturbing us all the time?"
Draco nodded in agreement. Then he thought for a moment.
"But I promised Theo would come over for a couple of weeks."
"So? I did not say we could invite others. And I kind of expect Pansy to want to visit too. Maybe Daphne, too, but we will see." Draco nodded enthusiastically.
"I will write to father and ask him. He won't say no. I know it!"
The two best friends started to discuss the different things they were going to do and the places they would visit.
That evening Jakob sat on his couch with Draco and tried to puzzle out the different things they wanted to do over this summer. They had a lot of different things and only so much time.
"Mate, I'm telling you. We should go to America first," said Jakob waving his wand and moving the word America on the parchment over the name Theo.
"But then Theo only gets one week instead of two, as I promised." Frowned Draco.
"Why would he only get one week?" asked Jakob with a smirk, and Draco looked like he understood.
"I get it! We take him with us and-"
"What are you two doing? Why are you…." Pansy, who had walked inside the entrance to the common room, had seen the two boys sitting on the couch and talking like they had tried to create a new potion.
When she spoke, however, she noticed the parchment and read the different words on it, and her eyes widened.
"Are you going to America ?" She said in a loud voice, and Jakob looked at Draco with a raised eyebrow, and the blonde sighed a little and nodded.
"No, Pansy," said Jakob, smirking.
The girl in question frowned, sat beside Jake, and looked one more time.
"Why is it on your list then?" she asked, looking at the boy whose smirk grew larger.
"You asked the wrong question. You ask if YOU are going. You should have asked if we were going."
Pansy looked wide-eyed at first Jakob and then Draco.
When neither of the boys gave any sign that they were pranking her, she schooled her face and got up from the couch.
"I must write to father and ask him."
"It will be you, me, Theo and Draco," said Jakob as the girl walked back to her dorm.
Draco looked back at Jakob, not understanding why he wanted her to come with them so much.
"You know that she will be yours to take care of," asked Draco in a low voice.
Jakob nodded while still looking at the parchment.
"I will take care of her. But what do you think we should do after the Quidditch game.
The next day Jakob sat in the library together with Pansy and went through the last fixes to their potions homework.
" So you mean I can crush it instead of cutting it?"
Jakob was about to answer pansy, but another voice cut in.
" You can, but I'm sure that Mr Quade was about to tell you that this method is not recommended. Why is that so?"
Jakob looked up from his own paper and saw Snape standing beside them with his arms crossed.
" Because it's a cheat and can make the potion expire faster, professor." answered an embarrassed Jakob.
Snape nodded.
" I would not recommend you teach your fellow classmates how to fail. Come with me." Snape turned and began to walk. Jakob gave a look of betrayal as he stood up.
" I did not see him," whispered Pansy apologetically and received a pinch in her arm.
"Ouch!"
"Don't punish her for your incompetence," said Snape, not turning around.
Jakob pointed at his things, and she nodded while glaring at the boy while she rubbed her arm.
As the professor and student walked the corridor, people were greeting him from all houses, and Jakob gave a nod in reply, not wanting to give someone to get the idea that he wanted to talk to them.
" Do you remember our conversation?" asked Snape seeing how many students were openly friendly towards the Slytherin boy.
" of course, professor,"
" Good. Because insects always get drawn to the light."
Did he just refer to his students as insects? Wondered Jakob but nodded in response. He did not want to question Snape right now.
When they stood Infront of the gargoyle, Snape spoke the password, and Jakob waited for him to get up.
" What are you waiting for, Mr Quade?"
Jakob looked a bit surprised at his head of house.
" You won't be present, Professor?"
Snape stepped aside. He raised his arm and gestured for Jakob to move along.
" I have more important things to do than to hold your hand. And you are not getting punished."
Snape walked away, and Jakob got the feeling like Snape was in a bad mood, more than usual, at least.
The Slytherin boy went up the stairs and stepped over to the door that belonged to the headmaster. The black-haired boy was about to knock but heard Dumbledore's voice before he got the chance to raise his hand.
" Come in, Mr Quade."
The door opened. Jakob walked in, seeing that Albus was seated in his usual seat with Two people standing beside him that Jakob did not recognise.
The man was short, had brown hair and wore glasses, and the wife looked similar. They both looked at Jakob in awe and had teary eyes.
The Slytherin boy nodded towards them, a bit uncomfortable by the whole situation and turned to Dumbledore.
" You wished to see me, headmaster?"
Albus was smiling, having a glint in his eyes and gave Jakob a nod and gestured to the pair beside him.
" Jakob, this is Mr and Mrs Diggory. They wished to meet you. I usually don't allow this kind of meeting, but as you saved their son, Cedric, I believe that you would like to hear what they have to say.
Mr Diggory took off his hat and fumbled with it as he stepped forward.
He reached out his hand, and Jakob shook it with his charming smile but inwards wanted to sigh and leave.
" My name is Amos Diggory, and I wanted to thank you in person for saving my boy. I am in debt to you, heir Quade and if there is anything you wish from the Diggory family, I would be happy to assist you."
Jakob nodded and smiled towards Mrs Diggory, who was now standing beside her husband, reaching out her hand, which Jakob also shocked. He then turned back to Mr Diggory and said, knowing that the headmaster was most likely trying to figure him out.
"You don't owe me anything, Mr Diggory. I'm sure that your son would have done the same to me."
Dumbledor, who had observed the exchange to see how Jakob would react, was pleased to see that the boy declined their offer and did not take advantage of the situation.
" We must give him something, dear. He saved our son," said Mrs Diggory and then looked over at Jakob.
" Isn't there anything you would be interested in as a reward?"
Jakob gave her an apologetic smile and shook his head.
There was silence for a few seconds as the two adults were thinking, and Jakob, who hated this situation, cleared his throat.
" So Mr Diggory, If I'm not mistaken, you work at the ministry?" asked Jakob trying to find a conversation.
Amos nodded proudly.
" The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. It's s long one, I know," chuckled the man when he saw Jakob looking interested.
" What kind of magical Creatures do you work with?" asked the second-year Slytherin.
Amos shrugged.
" Almost every magical creature there is. Is there some special creature you wonder about, or do you just find the subject interesting?"
Jakob knew Dumbledore would judge him if he asked to meet a dementor, and the Diggory were a light family, so he approached with carefulness.
" I love to study everything that is magic. But now that you mention it, I was a bit… uncomfortably surprised when I saw my first dementor at the Ministry. Did it come from your department?"
Dumbledore sat silent, looking at the two, while Diggory shook his head.
" No. Those foul spirits are from the prison of Azkaban. If we see them roaming around someplace, they shouldn't. It's our job to make them return there. I'm sorry you had to witness that, Heir Quade." said Amos giving Jakob an apologetic smile.
" It was quite horrible to see. Even if I wanted Mr Lockhart to be punished for what he did, I would never want him to suffer that. I think it's wrong that the Ministry has that sentence. It's not their right to punish one's afterlife."
Dumbledor nodded and smiled towards Jakob.
" If more people like you thought like that, Mr Quade, you would make it easier for an old man like me to sleep at night." chuckled the headmaster.
Jakob gave him his charming smile and gave a slight nod towards Dumbledore.
How can the supposed greatest wizard of our generation be this easily manipulated? Or does he see through my bullshit? Wondered the boy for a second and then turned towards Mr Diggory.
" If there is any information or such about them, I would be very interested in acquiring them. I read some books about the subject yesterday, But it does not seem like there is much information about them. Only what their purpose is and how to defend yourself against them." The Slytherin boy noticed a second of silence and sighed inwardly.
"I heard someone say once that fear can easily be quelled by knowledge, and I have found myself agreeing with that." Said the boy, trying to twist the situation to not raise any suspicion.
" Very wise words, young man. I will see what I can find and owl it to you if you would like," said Amos and received a slight bow from the boy.
" Thank you, Mr Diggory. Now I must take my leave, I'm afraid. I have an after-school activity to get to."
Declared Jakob giving a charming smile towards the group.
" Oh? I had one in my younger years at Hogwarts said Mrs Diggory with a smile. What club are you a member of?"
" Mr Quade here has started an after-school homework class with a Gryffindor student, and they aim to help second and first years with their homework. I must say that they have done a remarkable job," answered Dumbledore.
The Quade heir gave an appreciative nod towards the headmaster. What is he doing? Why is he being so polite and good to me? He is up to something, that old man. Thought Jakob frowning inwardly.
" You truly are a people's hero. Are you sure you are not a Hufflepuff?" chuckled Mr Diggory.
" Well, As a Slytherin, I have the ambition to help," said Jakob and then took farewell to the group and walked out.
" That boy is not what I expected from a Slytherin. If he stands by his beliefs, I think we can have a world of peace," said Amos with a smile towards the now-closed door. His wife took his hand, giving him a smile.
" Yes. That boy has shown himself time and time again. I believe he can be the hero that we need." said Dumbledore, also looking at the door but with that glint in his eyes.
Jakob sat alone in his classroom. He had just ended the homework class and was now sitting on his stool and sighed in relief.
It really was a pain without Hermione here. He thought but then smirked.
Now he had some time with himself and could try out a ritual he had wanted to do for a time now.
He walked up and grabbed a big jar where seven fairies were placed inside.
He had asked Saliza to capture them, and she had done so the same evening, trying to get on his good side again after the Amy mess.
Saliza was never on his bad side, but the boy enjoyed seeing his usual proud and arrogant snake trying to win his affection.
He walked out to his classroom and tapped the floor with his wand showing the different carvings.
Jakob placed the jar of fairies in the middle of the symbol carving. The seven fairies tried to bang on the glass jar, seeing what he was about to do, and one even fell down on her knees and started to cry. Jakob rolled his eyes.
He went back and took out some of the other ingredients he needed to have and came out and placed them at the different ends of the symbol he was going to use.
" Alright, snake eye here, devils snare there, a heart from a mermaid here." He said, looking at the different points and nodding.
Jakob took off his clothes, stood naked, and felt a little cold.
He took out the book from his bag and opened it, flipping to the page where the ritual was portrayed.
" Mhm, alright," he said, taking out his dagger and looking over to the book.
" Hope my healing won't heal them before the ritual is finished." whispered the boy and started to slowly drag it on his chest.
It burned, but Jakob continued carving the seven symbols that the ritual required. When he was done, he was breathing heavily, looking down at his body, which had blood and cutting marks all over it.
" Shit, this hurts," he said and grabbed his wand. He walked over to the jar, shocked it for a few seconds, and then opened it, seeing the small humanoid people with insect wings walking around like they were drunk.
" Stupefy." Voices Jakob and the red yet hit the group of tiny females. He tipped the jar into his hand, making one unconscious fairy fall into his hands.
Jakob placed it Infront of him and closed his eyes for a moment.
"Da mihi beuti et leporem. Sine me laqueum ocellos. Da mihi otium. Suos facere. Cor pulsum" While he chanted the text, he, one after another, sliced their throats and gently laid them down on a line.
The fairies did not wake up like the owl when he stabbed it in his last blood ritual, but Jakob could feel the magic entering the room.
He noticed that the symbols he had carved started to glow one after another as he sliced the fairies. A force of magic entered the room and almost felt like a warm suffocating whirlwind. The Slytherin boy had to take deep breaths while he chanted to get enough oxygen.
When the last symbol on his skin glowed, he closed his eyes, feeling a short rewarded feeling and the ingredients and fairies turned to dust, and then it all just ended.
Jakob opened his eyes.
" That was interesting," he whispered as he looked down at the seven ash piles.
He noticed that his wounds had healed, but he did not feel any different.
" Well, it said that it would take some time." Shrugged the naked Slytherins. He took on his clothes and cleaned up his classroom before going out.
He walked down the stairs and was about to exit the grand stare case when a voice was heard behind him.
"You there, stop!"
Jakob turned around and saw that a Ravenclaw prefect was walking towards him with her wand in her hand.
"What are you... Ah, Quade, I should have known you would be out and breaking the rules."
Jakob looked amused over at the girl he now recognised.
"Miss Clearwater, it a pleasure to stumble into you this evening."
The prefect girl halted for a second surprised at the way he talked to her. She then seemed to come back and stood in front of him.
"What are you doing after curfew?" She asked with a firm voice.
"I was just done cleaning up the activity club after a first-year had dropped some potion on her desk." Answered Jakob with his charming smile.
"So you have no note telling me you are allowed out here?"
"I'm sorry," said Jakob faking confusion.
"Have I done anything to you that makes me deserve this aggressive attitude?"
Clearwater sneered at him.
"You know perfectly well what you have done. If you don't, I suggest you ask Percy."
"Ah. Yes, your boyfriend. We don't see eye to eye."
The Ravenclaw girl snorted.
"You Insulted him last year, and I, for one, can see through your bullshit attitude."
Jakob sighed and then looked at the older girl, taking a step forward.
"I'm sorry about that. I was out of line. But I hope that we can start over and perhaps become friends?" Said Jakob, taking one step closer to the blonde girl, who got a slight blush on her cheeks while she looked into his eyes. For a split second, Jakob saw that she looked at him differently but then she took a step back, clearing her throat.
"5 points from Slytherin for being out after curfew. Now get lost before I give you detention.
Jakob took a slight bow and turned back towards the dungeons.
Perfect, the ritual is working. The book stated that the blood charm would start slowly and take between one and two years to be fully complete, but it's going the right way. Good, I love blood rituals. Thought Jakob as he whistled a tune, disappearing out of view from the confused Penelope. She was berating herself for even thinking such a thought about her boyfriend's enemy.
The weeks slowly passed, and nothing new happened.
Amy was swamped with everything and gave Jakob almost no time for snogging or showing him things. She had sent him a discrete letter telling him she was sorry but that she would make it up to him when they got some time alone.
The golden trio had returned back and were all a bit quiet towards the end of the year. Jakob did not blame them, and when he talked with Hermione a few times, she spoke about Ginny and how the funeral had been. Jakob did not really know how to answer her, so he had just been listening.
Draco had asked his father about the coming summer vacation, and, as planned, Jakob had been invited to spend the entire summer with them.
Pansy had been very happy hearing that she would get some time with him and spoke every night to him about how she looked forward to going to America with both him and Draco.
The last quidditch match was between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, who fought about second place. Gryffindor won that match with Harry catching the snitch, but the Slytherins did not care. They had already won the cup thanks to Clara nott and Draco who had been playing excellently.
Jakob had tried to talk with Theo's sister, but she had given him different excuses and avoided him.
One day when he was sitting in the library, Ella walked over to him and started hitting him on the chest, crying. Apparently, Susie had owled the blonde girl and told her about Jakob's vacation, and she had not been happy about it. Jakov had to calm her down and then tried his best to bribe her with gifts from the different places he was visiting, but the girl had not accepted them. Jakob knew that this would be a problem and sat her down beside him.
"Next year, I will try my best to get more time with you, Ella, but you must understand that we are growing up, and you must find your own way.
"But my future is with you, idiot." Sniffed the girl as Jakob took her hands in his.
"You will always be with me. I will fix something next year so we can be together more, alright?"
"Promise?"
"Promise."
On the last day before Jakobs second year ended, Jakob had placed himself beside his favourite tree and was basking in the sunlight. He had taken off his school robe and sat on it, bringing up his sleeves and looked down at his snake, who was hidden in the taller grass beside him.
"I don't understand. How can you want to stay here over the whole of summer?"
Asked Jakob sounding a bit disappointed at his companion, who he wanted with him on his new adventures.
"I grow here, Jakob. I will come with you, but I do not wish to be hidden most of the summer when I can thrive here instead."
The boy nodded and patted his snake.
"I will miss you so much, Saliza. What if something happens to you?"
Saliza pushed towards his palm and hissed back.
"Nothing will, my little darkness. I will wait for you and when you get back, open the window, and you will see me again."
Jakob knew that Saliza had her own growing up to do and hated that he could not be a part of it. But for her to grow, he needed her to do her own thing, and he nodded.
"That's the first thing I will do, Saliza. Take care, alright and don't forget about me, okay?"
"Never." hissed his snake and then slithered towards the forest.
Jakob leaned back, watching the snake go, and when he could not see her anymore, he looked over the lake that was glistening in the summer sun. He closed his eyes, trying to enjoy the last day as a second year.
"Hello." Jakob jumped and flicked out his wand seeing a redhead potter standing in front of him.
"What!?" Jakob almost yelled as he grabbed his chest.
Ivy smirked and sat beside him. He moved away, and she followed.
"Stop it. If someone sees us sitting like this, they will think I have gone mad," said Jakob moving again, and Ivy followed.
"I know, that's what makes it so fun, and I just wanted to say something."
"Say it fast before I throw you in the water," said Jakob looking at the lake with a dreamy expression.
"Pff in your dreams. I just wanted to say goodbye to you and ask what you were doing this summer."
"I'm spending it with my fellow Snakes," said Jakob trying to end the conversation.
The Gryffindor nodded.
"Well, if you get tired of them, you can always write if you want."
Jakob looked at the girl like she was crazy, but Ivy had already got up and walked away, not seeing his expression.
The goodbye feast was something Jakob had no love for. Last year it had ended with the Hufflepuffs taking the crown after what Jakob had started, and this year it sure looked like Slytherin house was winning, but you could never know when you had a Headmaster like Dumbledore.
He stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat.
"Another year ended, and I might say that this has been a sad one."
People in the crowd started to mumble and agree that this year had been a total shitshow.
" Now that it has ended, I look forward to seeing you all next year, but until then, I wish to give out some last-minute house points.
Jakob was almost laughing at the headmaster right now. The Slytherin boy chose to instead roll his eyes towards Draco, who shook his head in mock disappointment.
"I would like to give 50 points to the Gryffindor group of Mr and miss potter, Miss Granger and Mr Weasley." For taking care of the Chamber of secret and slaying the beast inside it."
Gryffindor's table was cheering while the other houses were clapping, except for Slytherin, of course.
Jakob continued to eat, signalling for his friends to do the same as the Gryffindor hourglass was filled more than even Slytherins having 20 points over them.
"Very good, Gryffindor, but I have house points for one other student in this room."
All the students were silenced by the statement, and the Gryffindor who thought they had won sat down, curious if they were getting more points for something.
"There has been one student in this room that has done some remarkable things this year."
Yeh, your little golden boy has surely done more fake things. Thought Jakob as he took another bite of a fried chicken.
"He has saved a lot of students, and he had also helped them when they needed him."
Stop being such a mystery old goat and give them the point's so we can start on dessert, thought Jakob raising his goblet to his mouth.
" It is with great joy that I award Jakob Quade and the Slytherin house 50 points."
Jakob choked on the butterbeer, spraying it out while the whole great hall went silent and stared at him.
Suddenly someone in the Slytherin house roared in happiness, and the members of the Slytherin house snapped out of their shock and joined in cheering and throwing their hats up in the air.
Jakob, who was still coughing, got pats on his back both as thanks and as a help, and he looked around, seeing that all the other houses were clapping too. Some even cheered.
"Slytherin wins with 30 points." said the headmaster, and it was done. Slytherin had won both the Quiddich cup and the house cup.
Jakob looked over to the Gryffindor table and saw the golden group looking stunned over him. He locked eyes with Hermione, who gave him a small smile while clapping for him, and then he, as usual, accidentally looked at Ivy, who gave him a wink.
What is wrong with that girl?
The party in the dungeon that night was fun. Jakob had been the guest of honour and gotten 3 shot's from the seventh year, who wanted to thank him for letting them win the house cup one more time before they ended their school year.
Jakob had hoped to see Amy there as she wasn't at the feast, and he walked over to Vanity, who was sitting at a table and reading her end years exam.
"Hi, Vanity. How was your score?
The girl looked up, and when she saw Jakob, she sighed.
It's fine. 4 O's, how about you?
"Fine 5 O's. one E in Astronomy. Have you seen our Queen?"
Vanity looked a bit surprised.
"Did she not inform you that she left earlier today?"
Jakob smiled.
"Oh right, I forgot. Well, have a pleasant summer, and I look forward to next year with you."
Vanity gave him a smile and nodded, and Jakob returned to his little group of friends and sat down.
Why did she leave without even telling me? He wondered, a bit miffed over the fact that he would not be able to properly say goodbye to her.
The group talked, and Marcus walked over with a tray of shots, offering one to Jakob's friends.
"But we can't drink that." Said Pansy as she looked disgusted over at the tray of shots that Draco was reaching for.
"Get off it, Pansy. One shot isn't going to kill us." said the blonde and gave one to Theo as well."
Pansy looked to her other friends, who also accepted a shot and breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that Jakob shook his hand, pinching his nose bridge.
"See, Jakob did not accept one. At least he listens to-"
"Pansy, before you end that sentence, you should know that Jakob has taken three shots already." Said Tracey and laughed a bit before chugging her own shot down, making a face, raising her shot glass and yelling in victory.
"You what?!" Pansy almost yelled towards her roommate, who laughed and shrugged his shoulders.
"Can't say you hate it before even trying it right, pansy lamsy." Grinned Jakob with red cheeks and leaned on his hand, and they all laughed except one angry girl.
"You are tipsy but fine then, Mr Flint!" The black fringed girl said while getting up from her place on the couch, taking a shot from the tray and returning back.
"Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!" Chanted Jakob and beat his fist into the armchair, and soon they all started too, even Daphne and Tracey.
Pansy looked around and then down at the shot glass, a bit insecure but closed her eyes.
With one swing, she chugged it down and swallowed and coughed afterwards, feeling like fire in her throat and stomach. With a weak, disgusting voice, she leaned forward a bit and said.
"It's bloody disgusting."
The group cheered as she had won a match, and she tried to look serious, but her laughter won over as she joined in with her friends.
When the party was dying, Jakob and Pansy said goodnight to their friends and returned to their dorm. When Jake opened the door, gesturing for her to enter before him with a bow, she giggled and walked inside. Jakob closed the door and turned.
"I will miss you so much. I freaking hate summer," Pansy whispered while she hugged him harder than she usually did.
Jakob almost felt suffocated by her arms, and he tried to get her off him.
"Pansy, we will see each other soon. It's only one week then we will go to America for two weeks.
The girl nodded and released him, and they got fixed for the last night, packing up their stuff so that they would not need to do it in panic in the morning after breakfast. When they both were done, they got into bed.
Pansy laid her head on his shoulder like always and pressed her body towards him like a leech. She took his hand in hers, started playing with his fingers, and sighed.
"It's getting harder to part from you." She whispered, and Jakob held her closer to him.
"Yeh. I know. I feel the same." he answered.
She moved closer to him, taking her leg over his stomach.
"And I sometimes feel that I need to get closer to you."
"You are basically on me right now, Pansy.'" chuckled Jakob, but the girl did not respond.
" It frustrates me that I can't get closer to you." The Slytherin girl said in a sad voice.
Jakob kissed the top of her head and hugged her.
"I don't know how but we will figure something out, I promise." said the boy, who soon fell asleep.
Pansy noticed his breaths becoming deeper and longer and knew that this meant he was deep asleep.
She turned her head upwards and did what she had been doing for a while now. She pressed her unsecured lips on his cheek, trying to not make a sound as she parted the kiss. This was the only time she could feel like she was a bit closer, and it almost scratched that itch she was having.
She looked at his sleeping form, thought about the long wait she would have, and kissed his cheek again. This time longer.
The scratch was a little better, but she felt almost irritated that it would not go away.
Her eyes slowly went down to his lips. Her heart began to beat faster as she stared at them. she could feel that a feeling was bubbling inside her. Urging her to lean in closer and taste them.
"Just this one time," she whispered, slowly leaning in and gently pressing her lips towards his.
The second their lips met, She felt like a small explosion went off inside her body and a small whimper escaped as she felt the closeness she had been yearning for. She closed her eyes and felt euphoria spreading through her body, making it jerk. She pressed a bit harder against him before she let him go and put her head down on his shoulder again. She tried to breathe through her nose and calm her beating heart.
She smiled as she closed her eyes, feeling like she could sleep forever right now.
The next morning Jakob woke up seeing his roommate coming out from the bathroom with a frown but switched when she saw that he was awake.
"Good morning, said Pansy with a happy melody and got inside the covers and hugged him.
"Pansy, I'm not awake yet. Please let me get fixed," said the tired Slytherin boy, but the girl did not care about what he wanted. She was happy.
They both went down to breakfast and ate while Dumbledore gave his farewell speech. And then, they were off to the train that would take them home. On the train, Jakob fell asleep for the first time.
When the train arrived, they all got out, and Jakob noticed that only Susie was there to collect Ella. He gave them a nod, wanting to hug them goodbye but held himself from doing it.
The two boys hugged their classmates goodbye, and When Pansy hugged Jakob, She whispered.
" I will see you soon." Jakob released her and then went with Draco towards Mr and Mrs Malfoy, who greeted the boys.
Narcissa got down and hugged her son and whispered something to him that made Draco's eyes widen.
Jakob did not notice it as he was currently shaking Lord Malfoys hand.
" Thank you, Lord Malfoy, for letting me stay with you this summer," said Jakob taking a bow.
" You don't need to thank me, Heir Quade. Your family is always welcome at my house." Answered Lucious with a slight smile.
"So are you and your family to mine." Said Jakob.
Lucious leaned down a bit and lowered his voice.
" I have spoken with your father, and he wanted me to give you something that is waiting in your room." Jakob nodded, and then he turned towards Narcissa, who gave the same hug from Narcissa and heard the same thing she had whispered to Draco.
"Aunt Bella has escaped the prison and is hiding at the Manor. Don't be afraid when you meet her."
End of Year two.
Authors Note: This next year is going to be a good one! I have so much in stock that I have wanted to write for years, starting next year.
The next chapter might take an extra day. I'm currently writing about the trip to America. I will focus on some more horror lore that exists there, but I won't say anything more.
Hope you all like this chapter, and see you soon! Cheers!
