Ch.31: Cutting

As we got into October, an old phrase would come to mind one Saturday. No rest for the wicked. Here, it meant that I wanted to relax and listen to music.

Naturally, Pinkie had no such plans.

I was laying on my side, looking out the window. My TV was tuned to the music app Pandora, and I hummed as the acoustic tunes of Godsmack played. As it did, Pinkie would sneak in, a small sliver of shaving cream in her hands. She squatted, sneaking over to me, and applied to the cream to my neck.

I would scream, wiggling around in an attempt to rid of the cream. She fell to the floor in laughter. I turned to her, unamused.

"Really Pinkie?" I asked.

She nodded, standing up. "Come on! The barber has an open slot!"

Ah yes, the barber. Homecoming was coming up the following Friday, and Pinkie had been on me all week about wanting to go get my hair done. I had told her that if we were to do it- I wanted it one way. A mohawk.

Pinkie had agreed to Maud's strict rejection.

Truly, I had wanted to go that next week on Monday. Other than tutoring a student named Silver Spoon, I had nothing to do. Pinkie was impatient.

I groaned and got up. "Okay, you win."

Cheering, Pinkie ran out of the room.

I could only shake my head.

I had passed by this particular barbershop a few times. It was on the same street as the movie store. The building was painted a golden brown, and the inside was pretty nice with six barber chairs, and a decent waiting area.

As we walked in, the barber, a man in his sixties, greeted us with a smile as he rung up a customer. "One moment, you two" he said. I took a moment to look around and could only grin. Aria was in the waiting area.

She was reading a teen magazine, her legs crossed. She appeared bored.

The barber smiled. "So, who is getting a haircut today? Need a touch up, Pinkie?"

She shook her head no rapidly. "Nah, my friend here. He wants a mohawk."

The barber smiled. "Long or short?"

"Short sir" I smiled, pushing up my glasses. He said for us to sit in the waiting area. His assistant would be back from his break soon, and then they would tackle me and Aria.

I walked over to the waiting area, the noise apparently spooking Aria, who looked up. She grinned.

"Guess you had the same idea. Adagio gave me $20 and told me to go, or she would put a fake spider on me. Spider's creep me out" she said, shivering a little.

"Pinkie put shaving cream on my back" I said, causing Aria to shake her head.

Pinkie would excuse herself then, having seen a coffee shop nearby the barbershop. I rolled my eyes as she left. Before I could respond, however, Aria and I were called into the chairs.

The barber we had talked to was named Thick Cut, his assistant named Blackjack, who had red and black hair and enjoyed the casino.

The two began their work. Aria sighed happily.

"Don't tell her I said anything, but Adagio has the hots for a guy."

"Finn, right?" I asked.

Aria nodded, turning her head to get the right side of her face done. "Yeah. She's going to ask him to homecoming tomorrow. Are you sure you want to go? I know you said you really do not like loud spaces."

That is your mother for you, my children. Sweet and thoughtful.

I nodded. "Yes, I do. Besides, I know you are gonna look great in a dress."

Aria blushed hard. The conversation ceased as the haircutting continued. After a few minutes, a question appeared.

"So, Aria, since you and your sisters are sirens, I was wondering- can your siren forms vore?"

Aria raised an eyebrow. "Why? Do you want to be fish food?"

I shrugged. "I mean, I was just curious."

Aria frowned. "We can yes, but people don't like our siren forms at all. If we were to do it, it'd have to be with no one around."

"Or you could do it with some troublemakers around" Blackjack grinned. "Give Trixie a taste of her own medicine."

I looked at the older punk girl. She would explain that Trixie had once eaten the Magnificent Seven and kept them in her belly as things took place between her and a guy.

I will admit I allowed a laugh. Soon enough, we both finished. I was impressed with my new haircut, and Aria was with her new shorter hair.

The next day, the predator became the prey.
