Chapter thirty: Give back the girl, villains! (Part one)
While things were getting ready for the raid team to simultaneously bring down two villainous factions and rescue the kidnapped Eri, the students of UA who were in on in were dedicating themselves to training. As per the rule of the pro heroes running the operation (Sir Nighteye especially so), the UA students in on things were barred from disclosing what all they knew. When Izuku's main friends in Class 1-B, those being Juzo, Yosetsu, and Nirengeki, asked Izuku what manner of hero work he was getting up to with Nejire-senpai, Izuku politely informed them that he couldn't tell them most of what was happening as per what Ryukyu said, but he had no trouble telling them about his first patrol with Nejire-senpai so far.
"Ah, secret hero work," Juzo said in an understaning tone, "Fair enough. My metaphorical lips are sealed."
"At least you're willing to dish on a simple patrol you did with Nejire-senpai," Yosetsu said, "So ho-"
Yosetsu was cut off when all the girls in 1-B swarmed around him and the other boys there. "We want to know about your time with Nejire-senpai too, Midoriya," Itsuka said in a serious tone.
Seeing that the girls in his class were solely interested in his time with Nejire due to her apparently being something of an idol among UA's female student population, Izuku was willing to share that with the girls as well. "...The main thing was how Nejire-senpai gave me a temporary hero alias when I explained to her that we haven't had a chance to come up with our own hero aliases yet," Izuku explained, "She also tried giving one to Uraraka, but Uraraka had one of her own picked out already."
"What did she give you as your temporary hero alias?" Yui asked, seemingly just as intent to get any details about Nejire's activities as Itsuka and the other 1-B girls are.
"She, umm," Izuku said, "Dubbed me as Green Bean."
The girls of 1-B all looked at Izuku in silence for a few moments before Itsuka, placing a hand on Izuku's shoulder, said with the most serious expression ever while speaking in her most serious tone ever, "...Keep that as your hero alias."
"...Huh?" Izuku said, clearly confused.
"Nejire-senpai has given you an incredible honor by giving you a hero alias when you were lacking one!" Itsuka declared, "It would be spitting in the face of her generosity if you dropped it for-"
"Girls, leave the boys over there alone," Sekijiro called over, walking up to the group and waving the girls off. When the girls went back to their own training, Sekijiro said, "Were they hounding you about certain things I'm told you're not at liberty to disclose?"
Izuku gently shook his head in the negative. "Actually, they were asking me about what all time I had spent with Nejire-senpai. I had no idea she was so popular among the girls here at UA."
Folding his arms over his chest, Nirengeki said, "It's clear the girls in class are jealous of our bud Midoriya here because he's working alongside Nejire-senpai."
The Blood Hero let out a mildly amused chuckle. "I see. Fair enough." Sekijiro then turned around and took off, letting the boys go back to training. Izuku was, admittedly, nervous about the upcoming mission to go against the Shie Hassaikai, the League of Villains if they show up, and rescuing Eri. But all of the shenanigans that his classmates showed just now actually helped to calm Izuku down. The green haired boy was feeling better, more confident, about the mission's odds at bringing the villains down and rescuing Eri from the clutches of the Shie Hassaikai.
All that was left to do now was wait.
Two days later at night over at UA, the UA students who were part of the Nighteye agency's mission to defeat the villains while rescuing Eri all met up with one another, all of them clearly grogy to be up at such an hour. Mirio looked to Izuku, Uraraka, Kirishima, Todoroki, and Bakugo. "...You guys ready for your first real step into the world of pro heroism?"
Pounding a fist into his hand, Izuku said, "I was born ready."
"Heh," Bakugo chuckled, showing some genuine amusement that wasn't of any manner of ill feelings towards the green haired boy, "Where have you been keeping this spine of yours you're finally showing now, Deku?"
"We all ought to get to the Nighteye agency," Nejire remarked, "As soon as we're dressed and ready for action."
Todoroki nodded in understanding. "I got a text from my father. He and some of his sidekicks are already there."
"Taking a little girl hostage like those bird-masked persons had done with Eri," Uraraka said, "I can't imagine anything more unforgivable."
"It's un-manly as all get out, yeah," Kirishima replied, nodding once in agreement.
Tamaki gulped out of nervousness. "...This is gonna be really risky, guys." Letting out a breath, Tamaki went on, "But things will be even riskier if we stand by and do nothing while the villains go about as they please." Once all of the UA students got ready, they headed straight for the Nighteye agency, to take part in what is by far the biggest heroism-related event any of them had taken part in to date.
...
Later on over at the Nighteye agency, Sir Nighteye was meeting with everyone before the mission started. "Everyone," Sir Nighteye began, "Within moments, we'll be paying the Shie Hassaikai's hideout a visit." Pulling out an unopened twelve inch tall Mirko doll that was clearly targeted towards girls, Sir Nighteye said while gesturing to said toy, "And this toy here confirms that Eri is still in the hideout that the Shie Hassaikai have."
Gesturing to the toy, Fat Gum asked, "And how does a doll of that reckless idiot Mirko prove that little Eri is still where you believe she is?" Folding his arms over his chest, Fat Gum went on, "Maybe the buyer's a fan and bought the doll because it's Mirko merch."
"The man I saw buying one of these at the store is a thug-level member of the Shie Hassaikai's side," Sir Nighteye began to explain, "And seeing him buy one of these Mirko dolls aroused my suspicions. So I put my hand on his shoulder from behind, acting as if I wanted his attention to ask him something, but in reality I needed to touch him so that I could activate my quirk, Foresight, on him."
"Foresight?" Izuku spoke up, curious.
Nodding in understanding, Sir Nighteye says, "It allows me to see a target's future by making contact with them while looking them in the eye." Putting his hand back on the Mirko doll, Sir Nighteye went on, "By doing that, I was able to see the future of the thug buying one of these dolls, and confirmed that he's one of the thugs that had been assigned to handle Eri, as in my vision I saw the thug hand the Mirko doll he bought over to Eri."
Gran Torino nodded in confirmation. "Yeah, we got everything else ready. We're even going to be working in tandem with some police, and they'll be coming in with a warrent to help smooth over any rough feathers." Pounding a fist into his hand, Gran Torino went on, "Let's give those villains a taste of why you don't go pulling stunts like kidnapping little kids here in pro hero turf." Everyone else at the meeting (well, most everyone; the quiet types like Sir Nighteye and Aizawa kept quiet) gave cheers of excitement, riling themselves up for the action to come.
Later again, everyone had gathered outside of the Shie Hassaikai hideout, a rather large and elaborate looking home. "There's a series of underground workings that we need to deal with here," Sir Nighteye said, "The complex that the Shie Hassaikai here commands is more than what lays directly in front of us."
Endeavor pulled a sheet of paper out. "Everyone got their maps of the underground part detailing the shortest route to where the little girl's room is?"
As everyone got their detailed maps out, Izuku looked around and saw that Gran Torino had taken off. "Hey," the green haired boy began, "Where did Gran Torino take off to? Shouldn't he be here?"
"Some side business involving a part of the League of Villains came up elsewhere and he went to go deal with it," Sir Nighteye explained. Izuku nodded in understading, but he still looked nervous. Seeing this, Sir Nighteye offered him a comforting gesture via placing a hand on Izuku's shoulder. "...You may not have been who I would have picked for it," Sir Nighteye began, "But after hearing of what all you've been able to do, I can, at least begrudgingly, see why you were picked over who I had lined up for the task."
"...Huh?" Izuku said, looking confused.
Sir Nighteye saw that Izuku didn't understand what he meant, and he couldn't exactly be more clear, given that there were many people around. "...You are far better than you may think you are, than what you give yourself credit for," remarked the salaryman pro hero, "You are a person who had proven me wrong already. Now, why don't you further prove my initial thoughts on you wrong by fighting alongside the best of us as we go and rescue Eri?"
"Never heard anyone say better words, Sir Nighteye!" Mirio cheered, right before some of gathered police called out that it's 8:30 AM, hence time to begin carrying out the operation.
Everyone got moved into position as an officer went to press a button on an outdoor intercom speaker. "Hey, we have a warrant to search the place," the officer said, "Let us in t-"
*SMASH*
That officer, along with a few others, were unlucky when they were sent flying because the front gate was smashed away from the inside. Izuku, using Full Cowling, was able to save some officers while the others were saved by some of the other present heroes; Bakugo even managed to save one. When everyone turned to look, they all saw a tall, hulking muscular bird-masked fellow stomping right out through the now door-less gate. He cracked his neck, gave off a tired sigh as he stood before all of the early morning visitors.
Mirio glared warily at the hulking brute who had just entered the scene. "...That's one of the members of the Eight Bullets who serve the Shie Hassaikai," Mirio said, "His name is Rikiya Katsukame."
"Aww geez," Katsukame said aloud in a tone that sounded more with annoyance than complaint, "Can't we do this later on when it's not so early?" Seeing that some of the gathered police, as well as a few of the lesser pro heroes, began rushing him, Katsukame remarked, "Oh well, I guess it can't be helped." Pulling a fist back, the large man began to swing at the police officers and lesser pro heroes, only to see his punch gett grabbed by a large dragonic hand. "Holy shit, Felgrand's here?!" cried out Katsukame in actual clear alarm, only to look up and see that it was Ryukyu in her dragon form.
The Dragon Hero looked down at Katsukame with a look of annoyance and unamusement. "Do I look like that villain to you?!" Ryukyu screamed.
"Maybe you're his little sister?" Katsukame replied, "I don't know!"
Lifting up Katsukame to swing him down into the ground, Ryukyu called out, "That monster has no family that I am aware of!" After slamming Katsukame hard into the ground, Ryukyu called out, "The Ryukyu agency shall handle this one! Everyone else go and stop the villains and rescue the girl!" Most of the others, including Fat Gum and Eraserhead, all ran into the Shie Hassaikai hideout, while Ryukyu got Izuku, Uraraka, and Nejire to help her surround Katsukame. Some sidekicks from Endeavor's agency were ordered to join the rush storming the Shie Hassaikai hideout, but Endeavor himself stayed back, keeping Todoroki and Bakugo with him.
"Boys, help me check the police thrown back when the gate was busted open from the inside," Endeavor said, "I can't rest easy unless the police are all okay enough for us to proceed!" Turning his head to where Ryukyu and her interns had Katsukame occupied, Endeavor barked, "Ryukyu! Are you sure you and your interns can keep that one there occupied and away from the injured police officers?"
"I fail to see how this one on his own can overwhelm who all is still out here!" boasted the Dragon Hero as she smacked Katsukame from above with an overhead slap, striking him back down.
Meanwhile, inside the front courtyard of the Shie Hassaikai hideout, the thugs who were outside were surprised to see police and pro heroes rush on in. "We have a warrant to search the premises on the grounds of suspected illegal drug manufacturing, and suspected kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment!" One thug tried to fight back with a leaf manipulation quirk, but one of the sidekicks from Endeavor's agency burnt all incoming leaves with a fire quirk of some kind, rendering that leafy attack completely moot.
That thug was surprised by what the sidekick did, just long enough for him to get taken down by one of the heroes. "Let's take these guys down and head in straight for the objective!" Fat Gum cried out, riling up the other heroes and police as they took down the remaining thugs who stood between them and raiding the Shie Hassaikai's hideout.
...
Meanwhile, in one of the underground rooms of the Shie Hassaikai hideout, Chronostasis and Mimic jerked their heads up when they heard the commotion from above and outside. "...The heroes and police are here," Chronostasis said grimly, "I figured that we'd be besieged by either do-gooders or the League of Villains eventually, but for it to happen this soon...!"
Mimic checked himself, found two handguns; one loaded with regular bullets, and the other (a far different color and model) loaded with the two remaining Quirk Destroying bullets. "...I can kill a particularly troublesome hero if it comes down to it," Mimic said, "But we haven't even come close to finding anything that would tell us how to make more Quirk Destroying bullets. With our unwanted guests above breathing down our necks, we don't have the luxury of time to gather what we need to keep ourselves at the advantage against them."
"That's why we have the thugs," Chronostasis said, "Not to mention the seven out of the eight members of the Eight Bullets who didn't betray us." Chronostasis scowled under his mask. "Damn that Rappa, his actions had made things for us here infinitely more difficult than they would have otherwise been." Chronostasis then sent word via communication devices to the remaining seven of the eight Eight Bullets to go greet the uninvited guests, so that Chronostasis himself and Mimic have tome to find any notes the late Chisaki left behind on how to make more Quirk Destroying bullets.
They'll grab and take those notes, as well as Eri, before running away.
The groups respectively led by Sir Nighteye and Fat Gum stormed into the Shie Hassaikai hideout. "The ones leading the Shie Hassaikai haven't shown up yet," Aizawa commented as he ran alongside Rock Lock, "They must be evacuating everything they deem has value."
"I still can't shake the feeling that something wrong will go down here," Rock Lock remarked, a grim hint of worry in his tone and expression, as the heroes reached some shrine with a vase on it. Sir nighteye lifted the vase then pressed a wooden panel, forcing a hidden door to open and provide another path. "How did you know to do that?" Rock Lock asked, amazed.
"I saw it when I used Foresight on that thug who bought the Mirko doll," Sir Nighteye explained, "We ought-"
Sir Nighteye was cut off when loads of Yakuza thugs swarmed in to attack him and the other heroes. The thugs tried fighting back with their various quirks, but Aizawa disabled all who dared using Erasure. That made rounding them up and apprehending them easy work for some of the other heroes, such as Sir Nighteye's sidekicks Bubble Girl and Centipeder. With those yakuza thugs bound, the heroes proceeded to make their way down to the basement. However, the heroes are barely able to make any decent progress through the hall before an explosion occurred beneath them, sending them down to a lower floor.
When the heroes began picking themselves up, it was Aizawa who first spotted the remains of a homemade bomb; judging by the tattered strips of duct tape stuck to it, it was taped to the ceiling on the lower floor hallway, then detonated via remote control before the heroes were able to progress very far. "Well well well," a voice called out, making the heroes all turn to look up, "We managed to corral some of our uninvited guests."
Upon seeing who was speaking, they saw it was three members of the Eight Bullets, those being Setsuno, Hojo, and Tabe. It was Setsuno who was holding a small rectangular remote with a single red button on it. Pointing at the heroes with the hand that held the remote, Setsuno mock-scolded them, "You really shouldn't enter a person's home uninvited, you know."
"We were invited," Aizawa scowled at the villain, "We invited ourselves."
"I still can't believe you all were able to get through as far and as quickly as you had," Hojo remarked in bitter annoyance, "Kai could have thrown up some walls to impede you if he hadn't been killed a while ago, and Mimic would have warped things around to throw you if he wasn't busy working with Chronostasis to get what all they need before you heroes can stop them."
Some of the heroes, including Aizawa and Rock Lock, moved forward to help fight the villains before everyone. However, they were taken by surprise when Tamaki stepped forward. "I'll handle these clowns," Tamaki declared, "At an absolute minimum, it'll free the rest of you up to go after the bastards trying to make off with what all they need to continue their evil."
Fat Gum looked on at his intern, his look a mix of surprise, worry, and pride. "...I bet you'll bring them down in next to flat, Suneater," Fat Gum said, "Give 'em a good beating, ya here?" With the decision made, Tamaki was left to handle Setsuno, Hojo, and Tabe on his own while the rest of the heroes proceeded onward to go and save Eri from Chronostasis and Mimic.
Seeing that it was three on one, Tabe taunted Tamaki, "You must be crazy, thinking you'll come out on top alone. You're alone with us!"
"I'm not alone with you," Tamaki said, his face in a rare and surpsising visage of anger as he practically snarled at the villains before him, "You child kidnappers are alone here with me!"
Back outside of the Shie Hassaikai hideout, Endeavor, Todoroki, and Bakugo were helping getting the injured police officers set up on the ground, leaning their backs against the wall around the Shie Hassaikai hideout, and making sure their woulds were given the best dressing that could be done in the field. Meanwhile, Ryukyu who was backed up by Izuku, Uraraka, and Nejire were tangoing with Katsukame. "The officers appear to be alright for now, boys," Endeavor remarked, "Bakugo, you keep an eye on them, Shoto, you're with me to go back up Ryukyu and her interns."
Given the number of injured police," Bakugo began, "Wouldn't it be better if IcyHot remained with me to help look after them? I can't keep an eye on all of them at once all on my own."
The Flame Hero considered Bakugo's words, looked like he actually saw merit in what the explosive teen said. "...That's a fair point, Bakugo," Endeavor admitted, "Fair enough. You and Shoto will look after the injured police, I'll go back Ryukyu and her-"
"KATSUKAME!"
Endeavor was cut off when he and everyone else in that area heard a loud, bellowing, inhumane voice roar out, calling for the member of the Eight Bullets currently fighting Ryukyu and her interns. Looking in the direction that the booming bellowing shout came from, everyone present, even Endeavor, felt fear grip their hearts, their very souls, as Felgrand flew in, approaching as incredible speeds thanks to his super speed quirk Acceleratle.
Ryukyu went wide-eyed with alarm to see the villain who had, among other powers, her own gift. "Endeavor, my interns and I are busy with this one here!" Ryukyu called out, "Please do something, anything, to keep Felgrand busy!"
"No need to tell me twice!" Endeavor called back before he used his quirk through his boots to fly up, intercepting Felgrand and making the dragon villain take pause and fly in place midair. "Felgrand!" Endeavor barked, "I have no idea what it is you plan to do, but I won't let you!"
"I'm on orders from Dabi," Felgrand said, "The League of Villains are going to take down what all the Shie Hassaikai has, as well as convince what members working for them to join us." He jerked his head in the direction of where Ryukyu and her intenrs were fighting Katsukame. "That big villain there, Katsukame, is on the list of persons who Dabi wants to try to recruit."
The Flame Hero scowled in annoyance. "...Dabi's brood already has one person confirmed to have once been a member of the Shie Hassaikai's side. Your boss aims to collect all the chips, huh?"
Felgrand merely growled in annoyance, a low, guttural snarling growl. "...You're in my way. But I can't kill you because Dabi has dibs on doing that." Suddenly, Felgrand flew forward towards Endeavor, grabbed him, then quickly landed striaght down. "Enji Todoroki!" Felgrand declared as he held Endeavor in his grasp, "It's bedtime for you!" Endeavor struggled to free himself from the dragon villain's grasp, even cranking out the fire as much as he could, while Felgrand said, "Enji Todoroki will pass out harmlessly until six PM this evening."
To the surprise of Todoroki and Bakugo, Endeavor suddenly passed out in Felgrand's dragonic grasp, safely snoozing away as the fire decorating his form fizzled out. Felgrand then laid Endeavor down on the ground as Todoroki and Bakugo ran up to confront him. "What did you do to IcyHot's daddy?" Bakugo barked up at Felgrand; the scene of Bakugo barking up at Felgrand like that was comparable to a scene of a two month old teacup chihuahua puppy barking up at a fully grown Tibetan Mastiff.
"I put a rule on him to harmlessly take him out of the action," Felgrand explained.
Todoroki, despite the situation he and Bakugo were in, looked up at the dragon villain. "...Yes. I also heard you set the time for until six PM this evening. The news report from your action at the Battle of Kamino Ward suggested that you prefer to set a flat twelve hour time limit."
"I can set the time for however long or short I wish," Felgrand replied, "I usually prefer setting a flat twelve hours. But keeping Endeavor out until six this evening is still plenty of time." Felgrand then turned to more fully face Todoroki and Bakugo. "...You two are among the brood of UA who were with Yugo Aoyama when I charged him with a task. What are your names, students of UA?"
Gesturing to himself, Todoroki said, "My name is Shoto Todoroki, and my blonde classmate with me is Katsuki Bakugo. We're in 1-A, same as our classmate Aoyama."
Felgrand let out a very mildly snarling growl, one that clearly sounded with piqued interest. "UA's Class 1-A," Felgrand said, "Yes, the two of you shall do." Turning his head to face Todoroki, Felgrand began, "Shoto Todoroki, a question for you. Has Yugo Aoyama accomplished the task I had charged him with during the events over at Takoba National Stadium?"
The son of Endeavor nodded twice in the affirmative, nervous as all get out and doing anything to keep Felgrand from wanting to try to kill him. "Yes. Aoyama had passed the message along via telling Aizawa-sensei who is bound to have told the rest of UA's staff. You and the others in the League of Villains want to see both All Might and Aizawa-sensei dead."
"...Fair enough," Felgrand replied, looking and sound... happy enough... with what he was told.
"Oi, Dragon Douche!" Bakugo barked up, getting Felgrand to turn to look at him, "You and your villain buddies are in for a rough ride if you all are aiming to kill All Might and that tough ornery bastard Ass-awa!"
Felgrand only blinked twice at Bakugo, as if trying to comprehend him, before speaking up. "The reasons involved are more complicated than what you can even begin to guess. Yes, one such as you would never understand."
"Oh, I understand plenty!" Bakugo yelled, showing far more bravery than what even he thought he was capable of at that moment, "You guys are just a bunch of vicious, bloodthirsty murderers who want to kill!"
Felgrand stared at Bakugo, blinked once, then gently gently shook his head, as if in some mild manner of disappointment. "...As I had said, you wouldn't understand." The dragon villains then quickly swung a backhanded smack at Todoroki, knocking him out and sneding him flying right into where the injured police officers had been propped up against the wall, giving him at least something soft to smack into. Felgrand then did the same with Bakugo, knocking him out with a backhanded smack that send him flying into the injured police officers, hitting Todoroki's unconscious form as well.
With both of Endeavor's interns, as well as Endeavor himself, knocked out of the fight but still alive, Felgrand turned his attention to where Ryukyu and her three interns were all busy fighting Katsukame. "...Another dragon shall join the fight against Katsukame," Felgrand said more to himself, "But to beat him until he agrees to swear his loyalty to Dabi and join the League of Villains."
END, CHAPTER THIRTY
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the beginning of the Shie Hassaikai raid shenanigans, with the heroes storming into the hideout having an easier time getting through due to lack of blocking wall or warped area throwing them off (Overhaul's dead and his namesake quirk is in Felgrand's possession now, and Mimic is helping Chronostasis with trying to find notes on making the Quirk Destroying drug) before a homemade bomb blasts the floor beneath them and lands them in confronting Setsuno, Hojo, and Tabe. The heroes move on anyway while Tamaki stays behind to confront the three Eight Bullets members there.
Meanwhile outside, Ryukyu, Izuku, Uraraka, and Nejire are confronting Katsukame while Endeavor, Bakugo, and Todoroki are helping to prop up injured police officers when Felgrand shows up, with the proclaimed intent of bringing Katsukame to kneel before and swear himself to Dabi. After knocking out Endeavor and questioning Todoroki, Felgrand knocks out Todoroki and Bakugo as well (albeit with a method other than the one used on Endeavor) before turning his attention on where a potential new member of the League of Villains was fighting heroes. Stay tuned to see how things continue to play out.
