"Well that should help with that." Selena brushed off her hands and sighed. "I'm not used to maintaining this much magic at once. I don't know how you do it, Al." He chuckled.
"Well I start by only having twenty shadows out. Not a hundred." He chuckled. He was more amazed at how much energy she had just put out and was going to be maintaining it. At most he could do half of what she just did and then he'd only be able to maintain it for a couple of hours.
"Was it a hundred?" She asked.
"Yes, dear. I counted! It was truly marvelous!" Alastor walked closer to her. "If it helps any, I've summoned my shadows to help. Tell me when you get tired. And I can summon some more to replace the fires that die out!"
"All I know is that I'll feel better when we can host the full 150 people in this hotel's capacity." She gave a bright smile. "Maybe we should start doubling up to host more than that! No. That wouldn't be fair to those that already have single bedrooms. Besides, we don't want the guests to kill each other."
After the span of four hours, the hotel's upper floors were fully remodeled and cleaned. It seemed her flames went above and beyond the call of duty. She was exhausted. That much was evident to Alastor. For the first time ever, he saw bags under her eyes. He did eventually lend more shadows to help. Rarely when he summoned many shadows, did they stray from his feet, but today he had all of them helping her. He too was beyond exhausted. Though he wouldn't admit it. They still had to cook dinner for the night. However, they still had a few hours until then.
As Selena crashed on the couch in the lobby, the tv came on on its own. "Breaking news: is redemption possible or a hoax?! See for yourselves." It played the video from earlier that day. Even their phones were playing the news broadcasts. 'It seems the person who beat Asmodeus in a duel is redeeming souls in Hell. But is it a hoax?" Selena and the hotel staff watched the broadcast as it tried and failed to explain the whole situation this morning as a hoax. Even people who weren't there for the events that morning would realize the story was grasping at straws.
"Well that hit the news faster than I thought it would." Charlie exclaimed.
"Yeah, but how do you think the hoax angle is gonna play?" Husker added.
"Well that doesn't matter. People will believe what they want. But we have news coverage!" Charlie was all jittery. "That's sure to change things!" Everyone just chuckled.
"Well regardless we'll have to get used to turning people away. Especially with the redemption rebellion going to be more adamant at redemption." Alastor reasoned.
"Yeah. That part is gonna hurt the worst." Selena and Charlie both had expressions of sadness. He could tell neither of them wanted to turn people away. Unfortunately for him, his entertainment was now gone, but he felt he was in this too deep to leave. Between Selena having her heart set on doing this and the time he put in here, he knew he wasn't going anywhere. Not if he wanted to win her heart.
