Chapter 20
Deku looked at me as if I was crazy.
"You met them? Like, you met them, met them?"
I nodded. "I did. Yoichi was there and I spoke to him. There was a woman there as well, Some men and some others I couldn't see. They were like smokey figures."
"Hmm, so you couldn't see them. When I've spoken to them I couldn't see them either."
"So what was that? Was I inside you or something?"
"You were inside of One For All. I was trying to wake up but I couldn't. You had this death grip on my hand and you wouldn't move. You were gone for about five minutes."
I looked at my hand. "I think it worked. It feels like it did. It's there, but far away. Like it's keeping its distance or something."
"Are you sure? I tried to give One For All away once when I had no choice. The previous successors didn't allow it. If they don't all agree you wouldn't have the quirk. So… do you feel any different?"
I shrugged. "Sort of, but if feels different from any other quirk I've felt before. I'm a little afraid to try."
He swallowed. "Well… we won't know unless we try. I have a few things we could try."
"Actually I would like to just try something on my own first," I told him.
He looked surprised. "Are you sure?"
I nodded and stood on my feet. Okay, Yami you need to think. How do we make sure you don't break any bones? Couldn't I just heal myself? No. I'd still end up breaking something. Wait… what if I used Eri's quirk at the same time as One For All? Just speed it up a little bit so it can work before I even feel the pain of anything breaking or being torn apart.
I closed my eyes and concentrated. I could feel Eri's quirk working. I dug a little deeper until I found it. It was so strong and unpredictable. Like a wild horse that needs to be tamed.
"Here goes nothing."
I balled up my fist and closed my eyes. I could feel my hand tingling. I slammed it down into the ground. The next thing I knew I was falling. I stopped myself right before I hit the bottom. I lowered myself. It was soo deep.
Did I do this?
There wasn't any debris, just a big hole. Like everything in it had been vaporized or something. I looked at my hand and it was completely fine. I looked up and Deku was looking down at me. He looked so small from all the way down here. Just how deep was this hole?
"Yami are you okay!?"
I flew up to him, landing beside him. I looked myself over. "I think I'm fine… and I don't feel like I'm about to black out. So, that is a win within itself." I joked.
"That's great, but I think you overdid it a little bit," Deku said.
I looked in the direction that he was pointing. My jaw dropped at the size of the gaping hole in the courtyard.
I groaned. "Aizawa-sensei is going to kill me."
As if on cue, I looked up and he was standing there at the gate. Along with All Might and … a white little animal man in a suit. He seemed to be much more shocked at what he was looking at.
"Oh, Crap."
I and Deku were in the principal's office. Apparently, that's who that little white man-animal was. Our principal and I had just wrecked the courtyard of his school. He sat behind his desk, rubbing his temples. While Aizawa-sensel pinched the bridge of his nose. It seemed like they had had enough, but I didn't really do that much, did I? All Might came and stood behind us, setting his hands on our shoulders.
"I'm afraid this is all my fault. There is something I have been keeping from you." All Might said.
"All Might no!" Deku and I said simultaneously.
"He shook his head. "It is alright. Maybe it is time that this was not a secret anymore."
He pulled up a chair between the both of us and told them his story. I explained to them what had happened in the courtyard. By the end of it all, all they could do was just stare at the three of us.
"That is a lot to take in." the principal said. "However, I feel as though we need to share this will the council."
All Might nodded. "I understand."
I locked eyes with Aizawa-sensei for a second, but then he looked away. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. One thing is for sure I was going to get an earful later.
"And," the principal pointed at me. "Will need to be present."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Yes, sir.
That ear full hadn't come like I thought it would. I was back in my room and Aizawa-sensei stood there with his arms crossed. He had this, I am disappointed in you, look on his face, and honestly, I think I would have preferred the lecture.
"Are you going to say something?
He only stared harder.
"Please, say something or do something. Yell, scold me. I don't know… anything."
He sighed, pulling out the chair from the desk and sitting in front of me.
"Yami. I am not upset with you. I am worried for you. With each passing day, you are getting stronger and stronger. There are heroes who think that is a good thing. They see it as a win for us Heroes. However, there are others who do not agree with your being here. That you are out of control and should be locked away like some criminal. So you cannot do things like destroy the courtyard or sneak out at night, to go to villain hideouts. It makes you seem out of control and dangerous. All of that coupled with the fact that you are All For One daughter. They do not know you like we do, as I do. I know that you are a good that just wants to do good. I just need you to show them that."
I pulled my knees to my chest." "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause any trouble."
He sighed. "I know, but I just need you to behave. Especially now after what has happened. After this, they will be watching you closer than ever now."
I nodded. "I'll behave from now on… I promise."
