Link: Excuse me... Lady Tiki? Are you... well?
Tiki: Mmmm... *yawn* It appears I've dozed off... Heavens above! After spending so much of my life in a slumber, I aught to have more energy than this.
Link: Oh... Sorry for waking you... It's just getting late out. Everyone would worry if they saw you sleeping out here.
Tiki: *sigh* Yes, yes, of course... The others do so love to smother me in their concern. Of that, you can be certain.
Link: Well, y-yeah, but... it makes sense, doesn't it? You're 'The Voice' after all... From what I've heard, you're an important figure in this world.
Tiki: And as a well-known individual, they should recognize that I am not the same little girl spoken of in the legends from centuries past. I am a Manakete. A descendant of the Divine Dragons. I've the power to protect myself. That much should be apparent.
Link: Ah... I... I'm sure they don't mean it that way, it's just-
Tiki: Forgive me, dear. You should not be the one to bear the brunt of my frustrations. I may no longer be a little girl, but I oft show my anger as a child might, it seems.
Link: ...It's okay.
Tiki: Your name is Link, is it? Now that I've awakened, I wouldn't mind having someone to talk to... Sit with me, would you?
Link: ...All right... What should we talk about?
Tiki: Tell me of yourself.
Link: Me?... I'm... just a wandering swordsman, I guess...
Tiki: Oh, please. The both of us know very well that there is much more to you.
Link: ...What do you know of me?
Tiki: That you are a hero of a foreign realm. I've o'erheard only a little, but when the members of this army speak of you, it is clear that they hold you in the highest regard.
Link: I am called a hero, but... we're all fighting a war... If you ask me, we're surrounded by 'heroes'.
Tiki: I care not for this game of semantics, I'll have you know.
Link: A-All right, all right... Do you want me to talk about my world, then? About my journey?
Tiki: That would be lovely. Please do.
Link: Right... So, uh... Gosh, where should I begin?... It's not all that different from what's going on here, really... A powerful evil had emerged... All life was threatened... I was dragged into it all as a child, so... it was difficult for me to understand the responsibility I was given.
Tiki: Tell me more of your circumstances. Do you have family? Where did you grow up?
Link: This might sound a little weird, but... I grew up in a forest.
Tiki: Mmm, that is rather unusual, yes.
Link: As for my 'family', well... It gets even weirder...
-Scene Fade Out/Fade In-
Link: In the end, I wasn't able to save The Great Deku Tree... but I killed the parasite that was plaguing him... and I found the first of the spiritual stones that I needed to collect.
Tiki: ...
Link: ...Uh... Lady Tiki?
Tiki: ...
Link: Goddess, I didn't even notice... I can't believe I prattled on long enough for her to fall asleep... How embarrassing...
Tiki: ...*snore*...
Link: I should get her back to a tent, but... I also don't wanna wake her... Hope she doesn't mind if I stand watch... Will she think I'm creepy?

Link: So...what do you wanna talk about today?
Tiki: I was rather enraptured with your story of the Kokiri, Link. It is a genuine shame... My body decided that it could not wait any longer for a nap.
Link: Honestly, I don't think you missed much... You'd probably hear a story more compelling in a book or something.
Tiki: Are you not hearing me correctly, dear? You had me listening with rapt attention, and I've found myself excited to hear even more about you.
Link: ...That's surprising... Compared to the other people here, I don't think I'm all that interesting.
Tiki: Tch... I've not the faintest idea as to why you downplay your own qualities and accomplishments as you do. Are you really so doubtful of yourself? Or perhaps you are ill at ease in my presence, and you wish to keep me at arm's length? Could it simply be that you are the bashful type?
Link: ...It's true that I'm not the most... forthcoming guy, but... I mean, look at you.
Tiki: Hmm?
Link: You're... like... a thousand years old, aren't you?
Tiki: By my count, I've lived well over three-thousand years, at the very least.
Link: Whoa... That's way more than I thought... A-Anyway, my point is you've been around for so long. With everything you've experienced, all the people you've met... I don't see how I could be all that fascinating to... someone like you.
Tiki: You need only look at yourself, Link.
Link: ...W-What do you mean?
Tiki: You have the ears of my people... of the Manakete. Yet, you are not one. That alone is enough to pique my curiosity, and there is much, much more to you than your race even still.
Link: ...
Tiki: You are right about one thing. I have formed many bonds over the course of my life. And because I have, I can tell you without hesitation that every single person is interesting in their own unique way. How were they brought up? What do they believe in? What drives them? What of their morals? Their values? Their insecurities?... We are simply too complex, too distinct for any one person to be 'uninteresting'. The notion is preposterous.
Link: ...
Tiki: Do you yet understand? I do not ask for your story out of common courtesy. I ask for it because I am interested.
Link: ...Okay, I understand... I'm sorry for doubting you.
Tiki: Now then, what will you share with me, dear? As I am not feeling drowsy today, you have my undivided attention this time.
Link: ...Maybe it'd be easier if you just... ask me questions?
Tiki: As fine an idea as any... Hmm... I have heard you called 'The Hero of Time' on occasion. I am curious of this title's origin.
Link: That's... actually a name that was given to me in Hyrule. It's not the easiest thing for me to talk about, but... I'll just try and put things simply... During my journey, this legendary sword that I carry... I was deemed 'not worthy' enough to wield it... My spirit was sealed away for seven years, and when I woke up, I was suddenly... older... Suddenly, the world was very different.
Tiki: ...How terrifying that I've suffered in much the same way...
Link: That's right... You've mentioned sleeping for years at a time, haven't you?
Tiki: I've slumbered through millennia.
Link: Oh... I... I'm sorry you went through that...
Tiki: Do not be. Though my relationship with the passage of time has been one of great pain and longing, I thank you for sharing your own struggles with me, Link. This may be selfish of me, but it is a comfort to know that there is another in this world who can sympathize with the hardships of my past.

Tiki: Link, have you heard of the 'Hero-King', Marth?
Link: He's... a legendary warrior from a long time ago, I think?
Tiki: Heh. Yes, 'a long time ago', indeed. Thousands of years ago, in fact.
Link: Hmm... Wonder what he was like...
Tiki: The reason I speak his name is that I see some of his best qualities in you.
Link: ...How would you know?
Tiki: I know because I lived alongside him. I was a very close friend of his, even.
Link: ...Why do I always forget how old you are?
Tiki: Hmhm! I must be doing a fine job of maintaining my womanly charms if you're still making that mistake. It is difficult for you to believe that a three-thousand year old granny could possess this kind of beauty. Could this be the issue?
Link: ...You're... probably not wrong...
Tiki: Apologies, I did not hear that properly.
Link: Uh, D-Don't worry about it... So... you think I'm similar to the Hero-King, huh?
Tiki: In some ways, yes. If I were to describe the man in one word... He was inspiring.
Link: Not sure I'd describe myself as inspiring, though.
Tiki: Marth... He used his words to unite others and to instill his beliefs onto those same allies. That unity gave us all confidence, and that confidence inspired us to take challenges upon us that seemed insurmountable at the time.
Link: But... that's definitely not me, right?
Tiki: Certainly, you are more reserved than Marth. You do not typically inspire with your words as he once did. However, just by being present, you are also able to inspire that same confidence in others.
Link: ...That seems a bit... exaggerated to me.
Tiki: I assure you, it is not. Your mastery of combat is already enough to rally others to your side. Adding onto this, recall the reason behind your arrival in this world, Link.
Link: ...You mean how Naga brought me here?
Tiki: Correct. To receive aid from her directly is nothing short of a miracle. Though some remain skeptical of your role as Naga's champion, most in this army believe you.
Link: I guess I can see why I would be an inspiring figure then, yeah...
Tiki: Though your personalities are rather different, he was a kind-hearted man who would never turn his back on those in need, just as you are.
Link: I'm... honored that you think so highly of me. Thank you, Lady Tiki.
Tiki: ...
Link: ...What?... Did I say something weird?
Tiki: Link... You possess a habit that I have avoided addressing up until now. I believed it would sort itself out over time, however, it has not.
Link: ...Now I'm worried.
Tiki: Please drop this formal act around me, I beg you. It is oh-so tiring... I am not 'Lady Tiki', I am only 'Tiki'. Oft-times you treat me as though I am so fragile, and other times it feels as though we are so distant. I am not an immortal being that looks down upon humanity. We are peers, you and I. Do you not see it this way?
Link: I... I don't know... You are Naga's Voice, so... I don't think we-
Tiki: *sigh* It matters not. You also resent when your allies treat you differently, have you forgotten? You do not wish to be treated as a some sacred dignitary, so please, give me that same respect.
Link: ...You know... I had a very similar conversation with the princess of Hyrule, Zelda... I had so much trouble separating who she was as a person from her title... Now I'm caught again, falling into that old habit...
Tiki: I consider us to be dear friends, Link. Perhaps I should not have spoken with such bitterness, but I wish for us to grow even closer while we still inhabit in this realm, you see. I find it difficult to do so when there is a wedge between us, no matter how small.
Link: I'd be a bad friend if I didn't take your concerns seriously... So, from now on you're just 'Tiki'. You may be a dragon, and also three-thousand years old... but all that really matters is that you're my friend.
Tiki: I rather like that.

Tiki: Our battle against the fell dragon draws closer with each passing day... The fate of our world will be decided soon.
Link: ...No pressure...
Tiki: You are anxious?
Link: ...Honestly, no, I'm not... Maybe I've just gotten used to this feeling... I'm no stranger to shouldering this kind of burden, at least.
Tiki: We have both been subject to grand struggles at the whim of powers beyond our control. It is yet another similarity that we share, it seems.
Link: Yeah... It's a depressing thought, but... right now, it's almost something of a comfort, if that makes sense... We've saved our worlds before, right? We'll make it happen again.
Tiki: I appreciate your optimism... *sigh* Alas, I do grow weary of all this conflict, I must say.
Link: Our fight's almost over, Tiki... Just gotta stick it out 'til the end.
Tiki: Hmph... Were it only so simple.
Link: What will you do after we win? Do you have any plans?... Any dreams you have left to see through?
Tiki: ...As a matter of fact, I have given the subject quite a bit of thought recently.
Link: Oh yeah?
Tiki: I have met thousands of beings throughout my extensive life. The bonds that I shared with some of those beings provided me with immeasurable joy, and they continue to do so. I would not give up those cherished memories for anything, and yet... I have found myself desiring for something even greater.
Link: ...Greater in what way?
Tiki: I seek intimacy, I believe. I have experienced infatuation of course, and perhaps even 'love', but throughout my few millennia of walking this land, I'd never a partner to call my own... I cannot help but think I've deprived myself of partaking in one of life's wonders.
Link: Oh... I wasn't expecting that.
Tiki: Nor was I. After being asleep for so long, perhaps I am feeling adventurous. You humans have a phrase for this, do you not? A 'midlife crisis'? Is this what I am in the midst of?
Link: ...Uh... I have no idea...
Tiki: To answer your question, then; Once the fighting is over, I think I may try to find love. As silly as that sounds, the thought has me rather excited to see what the future holds.
Link: I don't think you're silly, but... if you do find a partner... it wouldn't be a Manakete, would it?
Tiki: With members of my race being so rare, the likelihood would be next to zero, yes. I have no qualms with taking a human lover, however.
Link: But humans age so much faster than Manaketes...Wouldn't that be hard for you?... You'd out-live your partner by thousands of years.
Tiki: You are right, but remember that I have already been separated from most of my loved ones. Though it would be hard, I've grown accustomed to harsh goodbyes. I can bear it.
Link: ...That's... sad.
Tiki: Yes... Yes it is, but it is reality, and I have learned to accept it.
Link: If... If you're really sure about that, then maybe... maybe you'd consider me?
Tiki: Consider you?
Link: ...Consider me as a partner.
Tiki: You are not just trying to appease me, dear? This is genuine?
Link: Sorry to put you on the spot, I just... have to take my chance, Tiki. Someone as beautiful, and charming, and compassionate as you?... I doubt I'll ever find another person like you.
Tiki: Heavens... My search for love had not yet started, and already, it is finished...
Link: That's... That's a yes, then?
Tiki: Yes, I accept you with every fiber of my being, Linky. From this day hence, we are one.
Link: L-Linky?
Tiki: I expect to receive a full tour 'round Hyrule some day, Linky. You are so scant with details when talking of your past, but you cannot keep me in the dark for much longer.
A/N:
Lots of different directions I could have gone with this one. I tried to touch on different topics that I felt were important, but with some (like Link and Tiki's ears, their nature as divine beings) I didn't want to be too redundant. Manakete's ears were brought up in Nowi's chapter, for example, and I didn't want to spend too much time on the same stuff. I know more people were looking forward to this chapter than usual, so I hope it didn't disappoint.
One topic I'd considered was Tiki's relationship with Naga. They're supposedly daughter and mother, but from what I've read in-game, Tiki doesn't ever refer to Naga as her mother in Awakening? (please correct me if I'm wrong) It seems ambiguous to me, at the very least. Because of the 'Future Past' DLC, some speculate that 'Naga' is a title rather than one specific being. In the end, I chose to just ignore it.
