The song is SOmewhere I'll Return to by Erutan.
Selena arrived at Angel's door and knocked. Angel opened the door and looked surprised. "What's up, Foxy bitch?" He gave a smug smile and leaned against the door frame.
"I figured now would be a good time to talk about your contract with Valentino?" She stated. More like a question but stated.
"It's been a while since anythin' went down. Just what are ya plannin'?" Angel let her into his room.
" Well, nothing at the moment. I need an idea of what you're going through before I act. I know this may be a tough conversation but I also need an idea of what you've gone through. I want to know how much damage I need to inflict to exact justice."
"Well, for starta's , I didn't read the contract all the way through so I only know what I read or was stated by Val. But I agreed for fame that he could have 70% of all my profits. I also know later that when I signed I apparently agreed to be property of V. That led to a lot of issues. Like having to be on call 24/7. If I fucked up, I got beat pretty bad. Always had to be at the boss's side when he asked. No taking no for an ansa'." Angel's life started to flash before his eyes. The times he had come back empty handed and was beaten to an inch of his unlife. Or the times he was cradled into Val's side.
"It's okay, Angel. Take your time." Selena touched him resulting in the spider demon to flinch. She pulled her hand back quickly upon noting the reaction. He looked up at her with tears in his eyes.
"I'll never forget. One time I told Val I didn't want to fuck him. He took me anyway. It was painful and horrible. Selena, I don't wanna go back. I wanna stay here. I wanna be with you guys. I don't care if I'm redeemed; I just don't wanna go back." He started shaking. It seemed as if every fiber of his being was being squashed with a simple conversation. She began to rub his back as he curled into her lap. He was crying and shaking.
She began to sing to hopefully calm his nerves.
Look into the sky
Can you see the moon across the ocean
Coming close to me
I can hear the melody
Cry into the void
Let my voice become the hand that reaches
Out to you and leads
To my long lost memory
Carry me home
I lost my way on roads ever weaving
Home
Where darkness fades and hearts are ever believing
Carry me home
I close my eyes and cling to you ever dreaming
Find me
Oh don't forget the child for whom you are grieving
Voice that calls from there
And the footsteps of its fallen angels
Now becomes the beat
Of my heart so incomplete
Every night I bathe
In the blue that washes over me
And brings me to my knees
In this longing I believe
Carry me home
I lost my way on roads ever weaving
Home
Where darkness fades and hearts are ever believing
Carry me home
I close my eyes and cling to you ever dreaming
Find me
Oh don't forget the child for whom you are grieving
In her lap, Angel had calmed significantly. "Thank ya, Foxy. Can we continue this another day? I'm so tired." She hummed in agreement and waited for Angel to leave her lap. Once he did, she got up and made her way to the door.
"I'm sorry, Angel." She left the room and closed the door behind her. A heavy sigh escaped her lips. She felt a tug on her pants leg and looked down. A shadow resembling Alastor looked up at her from the floor. Its face was inquisitive. "He's not doing well." She didn't know why she was talking to it, but it nodded in understanding. It gave her another inquisitive look. "I'm sad, but alright." That seemed to answer the shadow's questions because it promptly left her side and faded into the shadows of the corridor. She walked down to where she assumed Charlie and Zelen and Alastor continued their conversation. When she arrived in the lobby, she was surprised to find the trio gone.
Alastor used this opportune time to sneak up behind her. "Well, my dear! It seems you had a hard encounter with our beloved first resident! Need to talk about it?" She jumped out of her skin at his greeting but turned to him for the conversation. Not before slapping him in the chest for the scare.
"It seems Valentino has eternally been put on my shit list." He tilted his head for her to continue. "He raped Angel. Amongst a list of other things that Angel was too shaken up to mention. He beat him. I can't stand for it."
"Well I can't say I'm surprised. Valentino likes to lord his power over people. But I imagine the raping and the beatings were the more tame things he did." He looked at her. She seemed torn.
"All the more reason to take him off of Hell's residential list." Her face darkened.
"Darling, there's more to this than what you're telling me. I understand he is your friend and all, and I admit that those acts are most unbecoming; but that rage behind your eyes is more than just for a friend." He put his hand on her shoulder. "Talk to me." His eyes had a caring gaze behind it.
"Is your office empty? I don't really want anyone to hear about it." He nodded to her question and led her that way. His hand never left her shoulder.
Once they entered, Alastor quickly shut the door. "Coast is clear, darling. Now, tell me what's going on."
She took a deep breath. "So during war, the priesthood was deemed so important to the cause they were constantly protected. During the first actual war I participated in, one of ours betrayed battle plans to the enemy side. Half of the priests were taken hostage and were made prisoners of war. I was one of them." He listened intently. She had begun shaking. "We were held captive for three months, but those three months felt like eternity. I remember counting the days to keep sanity. We were forced to march with what we had. We weren't treated as gently as we were amongst our own people. It was such an uncommon occurrence. Priests were generally favored by all parties. We were seldom harmed. Even by the opposing side. But then we were then and forced into cells. Alastor, I was tortured, raped, and starved daily. Given only enough food and water to survive. I remember them licking me, touching me, putting knives to my skin, cutting me." She shuddered.
"All these millenia later and I can still feel and see them. If it wasn't for Beletor's combat genius, we never would have been recovered. Several of us died while waiting to be rescued. Bel saved me. You know he was my greatest friend, but what you didn't know was that he was my lover. He particularly was upset that I was taken and redirected the war effort to rescuing me. It led to an easier victory, but I've never recovered. And to be honest, if it wasn't for Bel, I would still be overcome with fear. It took months for me to come out of my shell after that. Being a priestess was hard for me. None of us who survived were the same. Some retired. But Bel, he stayed with me. He endured my nightmares and gave me all the comfort he could." She started to sniffle. Alastor, albeit a tiny bit jealous, was unsurprised to hear she had a lover. She was the most amazing woman he had met. "I admit I never dealt with my problems. I, eventually, grinned and bared through the pain. Enough to convince Bel I was okay. I returned to the temple to keep my mind off of it. And I have done it since. I haven't recovered from it. So to hear Angel, grinning and bearing his pain, it's too much for me. I can't let anyone suffer like that again. I will end it. One way or another." Despite the tears in her eyes, her eyes held a ferocity that sent a chill down his spine.
"Your nightmares. Are they from this encounter?" Selena looked at him. He seemed angry for her. And yet he seemed so soft towards her.
"That and from the killing on the battlefield. I watched so many people die. They haunt me too. But not nearly as bad" She rubbed her arm. He came to sit down next to her and slowly rubbed her back. He wanted to calm her and had seen her do it to Charlie to calm her when she got over excited. This touching thing was foreign to him. How it created comfort was beyond him. She leaned onto his shoulder. At first he tensed, but he slowly relaxed into it. He wanted to get used to this. If he wanted her to be his, he needed to prepare for her small comforts. She usually minded his preferences, but since they had gotten closer, he saw her struggling more.
