I started this story a couple months after I completed the first one, I think a couple years ago, but I got writers block on page two and I've had trouble writing ever since. I feel bad about letting it languish. So I will be uploading what I have of my aborted stories. The idea here was "I like the Suicide Squad comics, the Wreckers seem to be built on a similar premise (use expendable second stringers to go on deadly missions that have a high casualty rate). The idea was to build a prototype Wreckers team with some regulars, some more obscure takes. Maybe I will revisit this some day or someone else can do it. Here is what I initially came up with. Expect one more shortly, I have two aborted chapters.
"Is this confirmed?" asked Prowl grimly.
"Yessir. As far as we know, the sixth division has been wiped and Naderev has fallen to Killmaster." affirmed Silverstreak. "As for Killmaster himself, we have no idea what he's up to. We only know that he seems to have gone rouge, and is planning SOMETHING big."
"I see... any chance that the DJD will take care of this problem for us?" Prowl asked through the hand currently covering his face, glancing at the screen through his fingers.
"According to our agent, they are currently busy hunting down Heretech and his followers. That will likely keep them occupied until after Killmaster has accomplished whatever his goal is."
"Great. So I now have a priority one suicide mission that I need dealt with." groaned Prowl as he ended the transmission. "Then in that case, I'm going to need to risk it all and send my best bot." pressing on the intercom button, he called down "Stakeout, please get me Impactor on the double."
"So essentially, I need you to throw together a crew from whoever we can spare, at best ten, maybe twelve bots, and travel to a planet recently conquered by a rogue phase-sixer with an unknown goal that more than likely wiped out the sixth division on his own, and stop him from accomplishing whatever his goal is. I chose you to lead this assignment because I believe you are the bot with the best chance of actually accomplishing this impossible mission. Any questions?" asked Prowl.
"Am I allowed to make specific requests for this crew, or you just handing me whoever you got on hand?" asked Impactor
"You can ask, but I can't make you any guarantees. I'll submit them myself, but the bot will have to actually process the info and send it out is... known to make mistakes."
"Can't you send it through someone else or do it directly?" asked Impactor curiously.
"Due to the sensitive nature, the info needs to be sent directly, and I'm to busy and so are most of my men. Sorry, but it has to go through Rosanna. Hopefully she is learning not to make as many careless errors... anyways, you can send nine requests her way and pray you get who you want."
"I thought you said that the team was allowed as many as 12 bots?"
"I found two outliers that I thought would be useful. They've already been cleared to join you. I also have a couple of recommendations who I wasn't quite able to clear in time, so you get my of a choice for your team. Lucky you."
"Who are the two I have to deal with?" asked Impactor.
Prowl activated a hologram, revealing a blue bot who looked like the original Sideswipe. "Deep Cover is a clone of Sideswipe who developed an ability to manipulate the laws of mass displacement. Not only can he shrink himself, but he can do the same to other bots and even common objects."
"That could be incredibly handy. I don't object, who is the other guy?"
A white firetruck appeared onscreen "Artfire. He's a pyrokinetic he has great control when he wants to... emphasis on wants to. He finds fire exceedingly beautiful, and has a tendency to get captivated by his work, so he often needs someone to quickly snap him him out of it. Thankfully he is competent enough that the liability doesn't override his utility."
Impactor sighed "Not ideal, but I'll take him. Who are the recommendations?"
"A contemporary of Kup's by the name of Bulkhead, turns into a chopper. He's got a tendency to cackle wildly while in combat and likely has a few screws loose, but he didn't get so old by being incompetent. The other is Ambulon, a defectee who's reason for switching side was 'I don't want to be a part of a prototype combiner'." said Prowl with obvious disgust in his voice.
"What's he actually good for? Cause it sounds to me you are hoping for him to serve as cannon fodder. I won't take him just because you want him dead." declared Impactor with crossed arms.
"He's a medic, you need a medic." said Prowl flippantly.
"Send me their specs. I'll consider your choices." said Impactor "As for who I actually want. I'd like Roadbuster, I've worked with him a few times and I can use a heavy like him. Heck, I could use a lot of Brawn, so send me Brawn. I'd also like Cliffjumper, Grimlock, and a triple changer, and a guy who knows the architecture of the planet. May need him in order to get to Killmaster."
That's as far as I got before I became unsure of how to continue. I did have plans though. He'd get 12 bots. From what I remember, the team would be Artfire, Deep Cover, Bulkhead, and I kept waffling on Ambulon or someone else. He'd get the wrong Cliffjumper and Grimlock, instead getting their Energon and Car Robots/RID counterparts. As a joke/reference to what happened in TF Legends, instead of Roadbuster, he'd get Roadburner and Wheel Blaze instead. The later would be the first casualty, and he would grey out, forcing Roadburner to use his white corpse in a further reference to that incident.
I can't remember the rest of the team for certain, I think Scoop and or Quickmix was on it, but Twin-Twist and Topspin would also make some sense, Whirl would make sense being in the story somewhere, and I can't remember which triple changer I chose. I think it was Broadside and Springer would be met at a prison camp. I do remember that old Bulkhead, Grimlock, and Energon Cliffjumper were all supposed to die via various heroic sacrifices. I'm sorry that I was unable to develop this story further.
