Chapter 3: Dome City in Donut Plains

The tour bus is seen driving through the Donut Plains. Everything seems to be in various donut shapes. The trees holding their leaves are churros-shaped, and the flowers resemble Zeppoles. The children took notice of this they were amazed by this.

"Is it me or everything around us is shaped like donuts?" Baby Luma asks.

Yoshi heard his words and said, "You are right, Baby Luma. We are now entering the Donut Plains, where everything nature-wise is donut shaped. Plus, donuts can be grown from the ground like the fruits and vegetables you eat every day."

"Wow," the children commented.

"But how can that be possible?" Prika asks.

"Good question, Prika," Yoshi continued. "The early settlers of Yoshi Island were the masters of culinary magic. Still unknown to this day how they gained such wonders, they manage to place an ultimate magic spell for our home region to grow any food imaginable."

"Oh," the children respond.

"Is there still anyone who still practices culinary magic?" Tallulah asks.

"Yes. There is a university that studies it. But that will wait for now," Birdo continued. "We are about to enter Dome City, the capital of the region and one of the first ever built."

At Dome City, the Toad Brigade is working on an archeological dig. Captain Toad and Toadette are using Power Axes to go through the offense. They soon ram over and get on top of each other. They blushed and laughed.

"There you all are," said Mario, coming over with his group.

"Ah, the Mario Brothers, their princesses, and their ghostly pets," Captain Toad continued. "Why are you here in Yoshi Island?"

"Yoshi and Birdo called us over due to the residents going missing. Due to the Toad Twins and the other two being busy, maybe you and Toadette can give us a hand," said Luigi.

"Hmm…Adventure temping, but my team is getting close to finding the biggest dino skeleton that will show who is the very ancestor of the Yoshi Clan," said Toadette.

"Hmm, I see. But did you hear or see anything suspicious when you arrived?"

"Anything unusual…," Hint Toad continued. "We did spot a particular footprint at the other end of the digging site. It looked like a Yoshi footprint yet bigger."

"Thanks, Hint Toad."

As the group walked over to it, Sleep Toad mumbled, "Danger is before us…Mario and Luigi…scary beasts…"

"What?" Banktoad said while reading a book.

"Quit your lollygagging, you two and get back to work," said Mail Toad.

Back with the Mario Brothers' group, they came across a vast footprint.

"Mama mia. What kind of person would wear this shoe size?" Mario commented.

"If we're talking about a huge boot print, I will put Bowser on the top," said Daisy.

Luigi then measures while Pepperoni sniffs.

"It can't be Yoshi size. But it feels like I've seen this size before," said Luigi.

"Where? At the Shoe Symposium?" Peach joked.

"Haha, very funny. But this footprint could lead to the culprit behind the missing locals. It would mean something big has taken them. Got the smell yet, Pepperoni?"

After barking in response, he leads off for everyone to follow. Back with the field trip, they are driving through Dome City.

Then Yoshi Sr. said, "Here you see, children, is our Dinosaur Regional capital, Dome City. It consists of Yoshis, the Cave People, and many more creatures. Moderation is still in process, which explains that you can't have internet in this area."

"No internet?!" said Byran.

"No cellphone coverage?!" said Paula.

"No computers?!" said Mark.

"No drones?!" said Cora.

"No air condition?!" said Saul.

"No tv?!" said Sally.

"No technology?!" said Barney.

"We'll never live to this day," said Stephanie in horror.

"And if you look to the right, you will see the entrance to the Vanilla Dome, home to our vanilla crystals, which we use for various materials like money, air fresheners, spices, and flavors," said Yoshi Sr, showing the Vanilla Dome entrance.

"Why can't we go in? Garth asks.

"Because it's for miners only. But you can pass down this Vanilla Crystal."

Once it was passed down to the Super Detective Siblings, Kennedy took hold of it and said, "Wow. So pretty. You can even smell the vanilla from it."

"And if you kids will look to your left, you can see the mountains, but none of them are compared to Cookie Mountain," Yoshi continued. "Cookie Mountain has the Butter and Cheese Bridges; the Twin Bridges connected to the Vanilla Heights, which allow people to gain better access due to Cookie Mountain's surface begin hard to climb upward."

"How come?" Brandon asks.

"Good question. The entire mountain grows any kind of cookies imaginable. With one wrong step, you might step on a cookie. Highly trained and careful diggers can enter the mountain."

"Now, children, prepare yourselves. We are about to enter the Forest of Illusion, or the Enchanted Forest is what you kids like to call it," said Birdo.

"Ooooh," the children said in excitement.

The Toad Twins, on the other hand, seem to notice that not many Yoshis are around.

"Only the Yoshis aren't around much," Yellow Toad whispered.

"Why does this a bit familiar to me?" Blue Toad whispered.

But somewhere at the Star Road, Rosalina, the Toad Twins' girlfriends, and their co-workers, Yvette and Bernadette, are researching the place.

"We hit the jackpot. This Star Road seems to be loaded with space relics to study and collect," said Yvette.

"According to history, the falling stars were the ones that brought the Yoshi Island inhabitants to life again. Fascinating. Do you think the Star Realm has something to do with it?" Bernadette said.

"From what I learn from my family, Star Realm will be able to hear a population's greatest wish if they are all after the same wish," Rosalina continued. "Maybe when the volcano was erupting, all of the inhabits thought of their dying wish to be revived again."

Then Brutus Dinktoad T said, "Hey, everyone. Take a look at this!"

When they all came over, they found a giant body shape hole.

"Woah! If the space debris has fallen on a fossil this big, it may have come back to life," said Yvette.

"But what kind of a giant creature would make this fossil shape?" said Bernadette.

"I don't think this fossil was on the ground this whole time. Something tells me it fell here as soon as the star debris hit it," said Rosalina, noticing a familiar cliff.
