Disclaimer: I do not own Danny Phantom

Chapter ten

"You guys will never guess what. Mom and Dad are free!" Jazz announced that evening during dinner as her phone buzzed.

"That's great," Tucker agreed.

"Why would they just release them?" Valerie asked. She was told they were arrested, and in her mind, people who were arrested were not supposed to be released without reason.

"From what I saw online, there are no recent charges against the Fentons. So they could not hold them as arrested forever," Vlad answered.

"What happened to you having a life outside of my family?" Danny asked.

"That doesn't stop me from looking them up when I have a few free minutes. Of course, I'm more surprised they did not drum up some bogus charges," Vlad answered.

"But still, this is good news. Maybe it means they've given up on Danny as well," Jazz commented, hopeful. Danny, however, did not seem to share that hope.

"Something seems weird about all this. I don't know why, maybe it's just because it's happening so fast," Sam commented.

"Don't be a downer, Sam," Tucker ordered Sam. He then turned back to Jazz and asked, "Do they know you guys are here? Are you gonna meet here or back home?"

"I don't know yet. I'm not even sure where they are," Jazz answered as she looked at her phone.

"Maybe it would be best if they stayed home and we went to them later," Danny gave his opinion.

"Don't you want to see Mom and Dad?" Jazz asked, confused. No one had told her that their parents played an active role in Danny's detainment. For all she knew, they had not seen each other since they were at their house.

"I mean…I'm sure they have stuff to do so they're probably busy. And it's a long drive back. So maybe it would be best if we stayed here a couple more days," Danny tried to quickly think of a reason.

"You really think so? I'm sure they would like to know how you are. But I guess that long of a drive might be hard on your injuries. If they came here it could work out," Jazz speculated.

"What injuries?" Sam asked.

"Jasmine, what did I tell you yesterday about my house not being a hotel?" Vlad asked in a way to stay on track.

"I haven't even done anything yet," Jazz complained.

"And let's keep it that way. As it is, I'm assuming you three are going back to your own houses soon," Vlad replied then looked over to Danny's friends.

"Dude, with a house this big I bet we could stay and you would never know we were here," Tucker commented.

"Or where I hide your bodies after finding you," Vlad retorted.

"Okay, how about we stop talking about this. No new guests here. And no killing my friends. Tomorrow's Sunday, so unless they skip school they'll have to go back tomorrow anyways," Danny decided. With this said, Danny tried to keep everyone from bringing up his parents, and was able to get through the evening.

The night passed quickly, and it soon reached the time for their friends to head back home. Danny and Jazz decided to see them off, and they were about to leave when they heard an alarm followed by a doorbell.

"Is someone at the front door?" Valerie asked.

"No idea," Jazz answered as she started up the stairs.

As she went to the stairs, Danny looked at a monitor by the workstation with a camera to the front door. There, he saw that a couple had rung the doorbell.

"Oh no,"

"What's wrong Danny, you look like you just saw something terrifying," Sam asked as she noticed Danny suddenly pale.

"Ya…it's my parents."
