–WFI–Chapter 3 Saturday, July 3

Saturday morning, Rory was up before the sun. She needed to get everything ready for the guests that will be arriving today and tomorrow. The cleaning service that opened the house for them, cleaned and changed all the linens in each room.

In the winter of 2024, they remodeled. They converted the pool house into a 2 bedroom guest house, moved the study/library to the home office, converting that room into a bedroom/playroom for the girls. They also turned the attic into one huge dorm room for the boys. Both long walls held 2 bunk beds each and a trunnell for a total of 10 beds. On one end of the dorm is a 3 stall bathroom with 2 showers. On the other end of the dorm are several game consoles. The game consoles were Christmas presents to all 4 boys from Pops and Mema several Christmas' ago. Evelyn is spending this week with her niece. She will arrive next week.

Mitchum and Cynthia stayed in the pool house. Rory needed to make a list of supplies she needed to replenish. Rory was busy in the kitchen when Ricky wandered downstairs. "Hey, what are you doing up so early?" Rory questioned.

"Jet lag? I couldn't sleep." Ricky said.

"You are not nervous are you?" Rory asked.

"No, not really….. I have to admit, staying in your pool house for the last 5 years does make me hesitant to step foot into the real world." He told her.

Rory said. "You will be fine. You are making good money. You have your dividends from Green International Rentals. I know that's a pretty good amount. Karson has a good job. You both have money in savings and you haven't touched your trust or life insurance from Billy since you graduated. You will be fine. But if you really want to continue to live in the pool house, I'm okay with that." Rory said.

Ricky laughed. "Not sure my future wife would be willing to stay," Ricky said.

"I know I'm going to miss you," Rory said.

"Well we won't be in your neighborhood, but we will still be close." Ricky smiled.

Rory and Ricky drank coffee and talked until Logan came looking. The sun was just coming up. "I thought I heard you talking down here. Couldn't imagine it being one of the kids, too early." Logan said as he kissed Rory. He walked to the coffee pot and poured himself a cup. Rory always admired Logan. Very seldom did you see him outside of their bedroom with a robe on. His habit was to be dressed when he left the bedroom. Rory, on the other hand, was still in her pajamas and robe.

Logan sat down. He and Ricky started talking so Rory excused herself to go get a shower and get dressed. When Rory reemerged to the kitchen, Karson had joined them. She was still half asleep, leaning on Ricky. "Morning Karson," Rory said. Karson mumbled something that no one understood.

"Why are you up? You could have slept in today" Rory asked.

"Phone woke me. Momma called. Wedding." Karson said. Rory just looked at Ricky for interpretation.

"Her mom has been calling. She wants to help with wedding planning. She wants to tell Karson what she needs to do." Ricky said.

"Like asking Sharon to be a bridesmaid," Karson said as she sat up and drank a sip of Ricky's coffee.

"Sharon, as in your sister-in-law who is jealous of you?": Rory asked. Karson nodded.

Right before lunch, Lorelai, Luke, and Matthew arrived. They took the ferry. Before they could get situated and unpacked, Mitchum, Cynthia, Jessi, Honor, Josh, Sam, and Joshua arrived. Logan went to pick them up at the airport. When he got back, the pool was full.

The boys put the nets up and were playing some form of basketball. Gigi and Karson had Em and Beverly building sandcastles. Christopher, Rory, and Lorelai were sitting on the deck talking, while Leslie and Luke were making sandwiches in the kitchen. Christopher helped unload the car. The boys were all wet and Rory didn't want them tracking through the house. It wasn't long before Sam and Joshua were in the pool with the rest of the boys.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Some were playing in the pool, some were on the beach, others were reading, some were talking. But everyone was enjoying their time together. The guys grilled while the ladies fixed salads and side dishes in the kitchen. Everyone had a glass of wine, a beer, or scotch. When the food was ready everyone fixed a plate and found a seat. It was getting dark. The tekee lights were lit around the deck.

After eating, Jessi and Gigi took Em and Beverly into the playroom so that they could settle down before bedtime. The boys were on the beach with light sticks playing tag. The adults were sitting around in groups, some were talking, some were playing cards. Karson and Ricky went for a walk on the beach.

Leslie's phone started ringing. When she answered it, she stood up to walk away from the group. When she came back, she whispered in Christopher's ear, then kissed him on the cheek. "I've got to go. Gregory missed the last ferry, so he hired a boat to bring him over. I've got to go pick him up at the pier." She said,

"Next time tell him to just call, I could have got him on the yacht," Logan said.

Leslie smiles."I'll tell him." She said and she walked back across the pathway to Christopher's house.

When they heard her car pull out of the driveway. Rory looked at Christopher. "I'm not sure how much she wants to be told. She is having a problem with him. His dad has cut him off. His grades are not good. John told him that he needs to get a job this summer and offered him a position in the mailroom at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. He even offered him his pool house to live in." Christopher said with a sigh "He's not very fond of me." Christopher stood up, "I'm going to get Beverly and head home." Rory stood up and kissed him on the cheek,

"We will see you tomorrow?" She asked, He nodded.
