–WFI–Chapter 6 July 12th-Party Central

Party central. That is what the Huntzburger house on the Vineyard looked like. There were 20 boys and girls in the pool. Cynthia and Lorelai were getting the cake and Ice cream ready. Rory was talking with a few mothers that had driven over, staying for the party. They were discussing the new uniform code for the school this coming up year.

Logan, Mitchum, and Luke were grilling hotdogs and hamburgers guarding the grill against the occasional beach ball that ended up that way. Christopher and Leslie haven't shown up yet, but Gigi and Beverly were enjoying the pool.

Logan turned around just in time to see Em on Will's shoulders. She was giggling and having a ball. Will and Chris were great big brothers. They picked on her, wouldn't let her play with them, then turn around and love and hug her. Don't let Rory or Logan get on to her. Will and Chris both would come to her defense.

Logan got everyone's attention to get out of the pool, it was time to eat. Christopher and Leslie showed up just in time to watch the boys open their gifts. Rory always thought it was funny how they received the same gift. She always tries to get them different gifts or get them one big gift. This year she and Logan gave them a golf cart. Joshua and Sam got one for Christmas last year. The boys have been begging for one. Logan and Josh have been talking about making a trail from each other's house. They just weren't sure how the neighbors would feel. Josh and Honor lived 2 blocks over.

Logan took the boys from the Hamptons back to the Helipad. Will and Chris rode with Mitchum to take the boys back to Nantucket. It wasn't too long after they got back that the boys headed to the dorm. Gigi took Beverly and Em over to Christopher's house for a sleepover. Karson and Ricky disappeared. Honor and Josh left to go back to Hartford. They left the boys with Rory and Logan. They would be back for Em's party on the 23rd. Everyone else retired to their rooms.

Logan and Rory were sitting on the couch talking. She was telling him about Karson and the engagement party. "Do we need to pay for them to come?" Logan asked.

"Not sure, I'm still working on something. I will let you know. If that is what we have to do to make sure they come. If that is what Karson wants, that is what we will do. Just give me a little more time to figure something out." Rory said.

They stayed cuddled up on the couch talking until Karson and Ricky came home. They had been out with some friends. They followed them up to bed. Logan was in bed with his laptop while Rory was going through her nightly routine. She had just come out of the bathroom when they heard a loud crash. Logan jumped up and grabbed his shorts. Rory grabbed a robe and followed Logan downstairs. Ricky and Luke were ahead of Logan on the way down the stairs. Lorelai was just coming out of their bedroom. Rory told her to go check on the boys. Rory and Karson followed Logan down the stairs. "Ace, you'll stay right there," Logan said. Karson and Rory were standing on the bottom step of the staircase. While Lorelai and Honor joined them. "The boys are all sound asleep." She told them.

Logan went to the front door while Ricky and Luke headed for the back. Ricky opened the door. Everything looked secure. All the tables and chairs on the deck were fine. Luke and Ricky stepped outside and looked around. Ricky called back. "Everything is good back here."

Logan opened the front door. Something had been smashed on the door. There was mud and dirt on the door. There was some type of liquid all over the front walk. There was a smell to it. Logan had to cover his nose. "Rory, call dad, make sure they are okay. Then call Leslie to make sure they are okay." While Rory was calling Mitchum and Christopher, Logan picked up the house phone and called 9-1-1.

Logan closed the door, but left the light on the outside, waiting for law enforcement. By the time they heard the officers pull up. Logan opened the front door and instructed them to come around to the back. Ricky went around to the front of the house to show them the way to come in the back. Logan was waiting for them on the deck. He explained what was going on and

showed them the front door. The officers took pictures and samples of liquid. The officers told them that it was probably just kids. Logan listened, taking mental notes. He intended to talk with someone in charge in the morning. He needed to let them know about the problems they had five years ago. He really didn't want to go full-on security again. But he would if he had to.

No one got much sleep that night. Logan was up every time he heard a noise. He asked Rory if she thought they needed to go back to Hartford where security is better. Rory told him no, he just needed to contact the security team and have them come back until they could discover who the threat was from or to. Logan agreed.
