–WFI–Chapter 8 Wednesday, July 14

Wednesday brought the full security team. Investigator Paul advised Logan this morning that he believes it was just a group of teen boys bored. Logan wasn't so sure, but he had no proof of anything else. The team arrived late last night. They were in the house doing a bug sweep this morning. Nothing was found.

Logan worked in his office most of the day. Ricky set up shop in his and Karson's room. Rory, Karson, and Honor worked on the remaining invitation for the engagement party. Rory still had to finalize the list for Em's party.

Gigi's boyfriend was visiting for the day. Rory apologized for the hoops he had to jump through to be able to visit. He was currently in the pool with the boys. Em and Beverly were playing barbies in the living room.

"Rory, I think I have the list completed. I just need Ricky to look over it." Karson said.

"Okay, let's look at it. I have secured the Blue Room at the Yacht Club. It will hold 150 easily. I have reserved a block of rooms at the Winnetu. We need to figure out how many we will need. Our house will be full, but we can check with Leslie. She knows how many rooms they will have available. Then we will know how many we will need." Rory said. Talking notes to remind herself.

"I checked with the MV Yacht Club, they will handle the catering and will provide the wait staff. I told them that I would have our head of security get in touch. Everyone will have to undergo background checks." Honor said.

"I hope that is not a problem," Karson said.

"As much as we are paying to rent that room for the weekend, they will be very agreeable," Logan said walking in the dining room where they had everything spread out.

Karson put her head down. Rory noticed. "But we are glad to pay for it Karson, Right Logan?" Rory asked.

"Huh? Oh yeah, hey Karson you do not worry about what this costs. Hey, look at me. Do you understand me?" Logan said. Karson looked at him and smiled.

Logan looked at Rory and mouthed 'I'm sorry.' Rory nodded.

Ricky walked up behind Karson and started massaging her shoulders. "How's it going?" He asked.

Karson looked up at him and smiled. "We need you to look over this list. Make sure we have everyone." Karson said.

"Send it to Anita in PR. Tell her to list anyone else associated with HPG, then we can look over it and eliminate any that we don't want there or think should be invited." Logan said. Everyone was looking at him. He shrugged his shoulders. "Are we still planning a small wedding? That's why we are having the engagement party so close to the wedding." Logan said, looking around the room.

Honor smiled. "I didn't think you paid that close attention."

"I don't want this wedding to turn into a business affair. In order for that to happen, the engagement party will have to be big and I will have to talk business. I'm sorry. It comes with the territory." Logan said.

"I understand," Karson said. "I don't have a problem with that."

"Okay, I am going to address the two elephants in the room," Ricky said as he sat down next to Karson. "Aunt Ronnie is still upset. If she is going to be upset the whole time, I would prefer she not come." Ricky said with his arms crossed his chest.

"Ricky, baby, she is just disappointed when you turned down the job as Vice President of Greene International. She wanted you to get your pilot's license and follow in your dad's footsteps." Rory said.

"I know, but I did not want to move to Jacksonville. I did not want the responsibility that comes with being the Vice President. Aunt Ronnie is doing a great job. I know, because I am still getting a dividend. If she wants me to sell her my shares, I will gladly sell them." He said.

Logan looked at Rory. She nodded "Ricky, your Aunt Ronnie came to us your last year of school. She was having trouble keeping the company from bankruptcy. Logan and I bought several shares at outrageous prices to help keep the company afloat. It seems she made a few bad deals." Rory said. Ricky just looked at her with a confused look on his face.

"The dividend statements that you get each quarter, do you look at them or just file them?" Logan asked.

"They go straight to my accountant. Just like my credit card statement. I make good money so I don't bother any of my trust. I haven't since I graduated. I didn't really bother it much while I was in school." Ricky said.

"Okay, before you get married, the four of us and Carol will get together. Make sure you understand what you have." Ricky nodded.

Rory smiled at Karson. "Carol is our accountant. He is also Ricky's" Rory said.

"I will not ask Karson to sign a prenup." Ricky said. Karson put her hand on Ricky's. She didn't want him to get upset again.

"I don't have an accountant. All I have is what I make. Rory paid for school, gave me a place to live and a salary for helping with the twins. She even gave me a vehicle to drive." She looked at Rory. "You do know how much I appreciate it?"

Rory nodded her head. "Who said anything about a prenup?" Rory asked, looking at Logan. Logan threw his hands up and shook his head. "As far as I am concerned, Ricky and Karson both will enter this marriage as equals. As soon as you get married, the trust I have for you will be released." She told Karosn. Karson and Ricky both looked at her confused.

"When we were setting the trusts for the twins and Em, right after we got married, we set up a trust for Karson." Logan told her. Ricky looked at Karson. She shook her head. She didn't know.

"No, Ricky, she didn't know." Rory said. "It was for her own good."

"Speaking of 'for her own good'" Ricky said. "The second elephant in the room is Katie."

"Don't worry about Katie. I will take care of her." Rory said. Karson opened her mouth, but closed it when she saw the look on Rory and Ricky's face.

"I came down here to see if you wanted to go with me?" Ricky asked Karson.

"Sure, I'll go anywhere with you. Where are we going?" she asked.

"It's a surprise. Come on, get your shoes on," he said.

"Wait, don't I need to change?" she asked.

Ricky smirked. "No, never change, I love you just the way you are." Rory and Honor had a look of admiration on their faces. Logan has a look of pride. He had taught him well.

When they left Honor looked at Rory and said, "I'm going to ask you something. If you think that it is none of my business, just tell me. You told me that Karson's mom Katie and you went to school together in Stars Hollow. She got pregnant young and moved away." Rory nodded.

"She moved to the west coast to live with her aunt. She met an older man, I say older, he was 30 years old and she was 19. Karson was just a small child. When they married, they moved around alot. He had a son a little older than Karson and then they had a son. We were still friends, or Facebook friends, anyway, right after I moved back to Hartford, I put a comment on Facebook after interviewing nannies for the boys, something to the effect of someone I could trust. Katie messaged me and said she had a daughter graduating from High School, looking for a job. We talked on Facebook back and forth for a while. Then she told me that her daughter would be in the area, and she wanted me to talk to her. I did. I liked her." Rory said.

"Come to find out they were moving to New York and didn't have room for her in the new apartment. I helped her apply to Hartford University, gave her a place to live and a way to go and I have never regretted it.

"Her mother and brother came to visit one weekend. Showed up, no warning. When they saw how she was living, Katie started crying and thanking me. But by the time they left, I had no use for her. She treated Karson like a servant. I was afraid she was going to ask me to take Karson's brother too." Rory said, shaking her head. "Karson had been nothing but respectful. What she didn't know about taking care of two twins, she looked up and learned it." Logan was smiling. He was so proud of Rory and her big heart.
