–WFI–Chapter 9 Monday, July 19

Rory and Logan had a relaxing weekend. Honor, Karson, Cynthia, and Rory enjoyed a spa day Saturday. Sunday was lazing around the pool. Rory told Logan right after the twins' birthday, that since he had to work during the week, she declared weekends work free. It was working for the most part. He and Ricky both have to take calls on the weekends sometimes.

It was Monday morning and Rory was getting started on the last-minute details of Em's party. This was just going to be family. Em didn't care, as long as there were presents. Logan had taken her shopping this morning for her to buy a new swimsuit for her birthday. She wanted a pretty dress, but they explained to her that she was having a swimming party because that is what she asked for and then she would need to wear a swimsuit. Logan promised to let her pick out a pretty coverup to go over it.

Lorelai and Matthew arrived last night. Luke, April, and Ashleigh would be here on the last ferry tonight. Mitchum and Cynthia have been back for a while. They left Friday to pick Jessi up from Camp. She was a counselor at Camp for underprivileged kids. Mitchum was so proud of her. When Cynthia and Jessi became a part of his life, his life changed. He was being the kind of dad that he wished he had and he wished he had been with Logan and Honor. Cynthia was so down to earth. She was nothing like Shira.

Lorelai and Rory were sitting on the deck, going over a list of party supplies that Rory needed to pick up when out of the blue Lorelai said. "Do you think Matthew looks like Luke?"

Rory looked up from her list to look at her mom, then to Matthew who was about to do a cannonball into the pool. "Well, I guess if I didn't know better, I would say he looks like both of you. His dark hair could be from either of you. His eyes, now those could only be Lukes. He doesn't have our blue eyes."

"I just had a guest at the Inn tell me that he looked just like my husband, but nothing like me." Lorelai told her.

Rory was laughing. "I heard someone say that a judge told him that as long as you feed them they will look like you. Maybe that's true. Do you think I look like Luke?" Rory said laughing.

"NO, you look like your mother, but you have my ears and nose," Christopher said. They didn't see him walk up.

"Have a seat. We were talking about Matthew looking like Luke. I told mom that if he feeds him he will look like him. That made me wonder?" Rory said. Christopher laughed. Before anyone else had time to say anything there was a loud boom. It scared the three adults on the deck, not to mention the kids in the pool.

Before anyone could say or do anything, Jill came around the corner with her gun drawn. "Is everyone okay?" she asked. Rory looked around. Counted the kids in the pool who had stopped in their tracks. Honor was upstairs, she and Ricky came running down the stairs. Mitchum and Cynthia came out of the pool house. Everyone was standing around.

"Jill, do we know what it was?" Rory asked.

"No ma'am. The rest of the crew are checking the grounds. I need everyone to stay right here till we find out what that was." Jill said.

About that time, Rory's phone started ringing. It was Logan, she answered. "Logan?...are you okay?... Em?...Okay…...I love you too. Hurry home…..yeah I know." She hung up the phone. "That was Logan. There was a wreck in town. The car blew up. He and Em were in the shop when it happened. The window in the shop busted from the blast. It also shattered the windows in Logan's car. They will be home in a little while." Rory said.

"How are they getting home?" Mitchum asked.

"Logan said the car is drivable. He is waiting to give his statement to the officer. He and Em will be back soon." Rory said. You could tell she was worried.

"Is Em, okay, I mean I know she is scared," Cynthia said.

"Rory, come on, I'll drive you. We can pick them up." Mitchum said.

"Logan said we couldn't get uptown. They have all the streets around the square blocked off." Rory said. Mitchum just looked at her. He felt helpless.

Meanwhile, on the square in Marha's Vineyard, Logan was waiting by his car holding Em on his hip. She would not let him put her down. He saw Paul. When Paul saw him, he headed his way. "Mr. Huntzburger '' Paula said, holding out his hand for Logan to shake.

"Call me Logan," Logan said.

"Tell me what you saw and what happened," Paul asked.

"I didn't see anything. I heard the crash, turned to look out the window. That's when the window exploded. I don't think I saw anything. I just reacted." Logan said, still holding Em.

Paul was taking notes. "You said you reacted, What did you do?" He asked.

"My first instinct was to grab Em. That is what I did. Then I ran to a door frame. I wasn't sure what it was. I lived in California when I was younger. I guess my mind just processed earthquake." Logan said.

"Okay, Mr… Logan, you and that pretty little girl are free to go. Have you taken pictures of your car?" Logan nodded. "Have a good rest of the day," Paul said as he walked to the next person to take her statement.

Logan and Em arrived back at the house about 30 minutes after the explosion. When they got out of the car and Em saw Rory, she took off. She started crying. Rory finally got her to calm down. She asked her if she wanted to tell her what happened. She shook her head no. "Well, if you decide to just let me know. I will listen or you can talk to Daddy, Nana, Mema, Pops, Grampy. Did I leave anyone out?" Rory was tickling her now, getting her to laugh.

Em said. "Will, Chris, Sam, Ousha. I think that's everyone's mommy." Em said with a smile.

Later that night, Tristan stopped by. The adults and Em were on the deck, while the boys were in the dorm. Em had not been alone since she got back from shopping with Logan. She was asleep in the lounge next to Logan. "Hey, guys. Just stopped by to check on everyone. Heard about the explosion. Saw Logan and Ms. Em on TV."

That got Logan and Mitchum's attention. "What news?" Logan asked.

"The local Fox channel." He said.

"I don't remember talking to anyone on camera," Logan said.

"They were interviewing some lady and I could see you and Em getting in your car. The ticker across the bottom said something about interrupting a day of shopping for media mogul Logan Huntzbuger and her daughter Emily." Tristan said.

"I'm sorry, you will have to excuse me," Logan said getting up. Mitchem nodded, then got up and followed him. "I guess he has not seen the news," Tristan said.

Rory just shook her head. "We don't watch much tv while we are here. Just movies. We got most of our news from the papers or the internet."

Logan and Mitchum both were on their cell phones before they even got to the office. Logan was talking with Dillon. "I need you to come to Marha's Vineyard…Yeah, you saw that? I didn't…... A friend dropped by and told me about it. …...Ryan and Jill are primary…...yeah, that will be great. See you in the morning." and hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, Mitchum is on the phone with Anita in the PR office. He instructed her to get the footage removed for TV. Send any PR statements to Logan to approve.

When everyone went to bed, there was so much tension in the air. Logan checked on the boys several times before he laid down. He told the ones that were still up, not to leave the dorm. If they needed something to call him on his cell. Rory finally fell asleep, curled up to Logan. Logan laid there staring at the ceiling. He was really considering leaving Marha's Vineyard and heading home tomorrow. Em could have her party at home.

Meanwhile two doors down, Karson was pacing. Ricky was asleep, but she was worried. She was thinking of maybe canceling the engagement party and just get married. She was in a permanent stage of nerves. She just didn't think it was worth all this. She was so stressed she was late.

Mitchum and Cynthia were still awake in the pool house. Jessi was asleep in her room in the pool house. Mitchum felt helpless. He wanted to help his son and family, but he didn't know-how. The only thing he could think to do was increase security, and Logan had already done that.

Lorelai talked with Luke. Now Luke was worried about his family. Jamie called April. Wanted her and Ashleigh to come back to Atlanta. He didn't want them to go to Marha's Vineyard. He wanted them back home, away from whatever was happening.

Josh called Honor when he saw it on the news. He will be here in the morning.
