Disclaimer: I do not own The Mr. Men Show or any of its characters. But I do own a few characters in this story and the idea that Mr. Grumpy has a brother and a niece.
Little Miss Music was humming along to the song that was playing in her ears as she cleaned around her house. Suddenly the song was interrupted by a bing-dong. She jumped in surprise; then she relaxed. It was just her doorbell.
Because she usually had her headphones on and can't hear a knock at her door, she managed to hook her doorbell to her headphones so whenever someone rang it, it would sound in her ears.
Pausing her music, she went to answer the door. She was surprised but not disappointed to find her Senpai standing in front of her. She blushed and waved shyly at him.
"Hey, Mr. Grumpy," she greeted him. She looked at the two Mr. Men behind him. "Hello, Mr. Small, Mr. Nosy." Then she noticed a young Little Miss and smiled at her. "Is this your niece, Mr. Grumpy?" she asked. When he looked surprised, she told him," Miss. Calamity said your niece was visiting you for a while."
Mr. Grumpy blinked, wondering how the accident-prone Little Miss knew about his niece. Then he shrugged, realizing that if Mr. Small and Mr. Nosy knew, and now Little Miss Calamity, then probably the whole of Dillydale knew his niece was here.
"Miss. Music, this is Miss. Aloof," he told her. "She also likes music, so I figured I'd bring her to meet you."
Little Miss Music smiled. "You like music?" she asked.
Shyly, half hiding behind her uncle, Little Miss Aloof nodded. She didn't know how to feel. She was excited to meet someone who loves music as much as her, but she was very nervous about meeting someone new.
As if her uncle noticed this, he told her," You don't have to worry. Miss. Music is friendly. Can we come in, Miss. Music?" he added, turning to her.
"Of course." She stepped aside and Little Miss Aloof followed Mr. Grumpy into the stereo-shaped house. Mr. Small and Mr. Nosy were right behind them. They all sat down and Little Miss Music turned to Little Miss Aloof. "What kind of music do you like?"
The young Little Miss looked thoughtful. "I don't have a favorite," she answered. "I like most music. Except rap. Not a fan of rap, but other than that, I'll give any song a listen."
"Not all rap is bad," Little Miss Music told her. "I know someone who loves to rap and he's really good at it. Mr. Grumpy, you should take her to meet Mr. Messy sometimes; he would love to meet Miss. Aloof."
Mr. Grumpy gave a curt nod, and Little Miss Aloof couldn't help but notice he didn't seem thrilled about that. Seeming to notice this, Little Miss Music changed the subject. "So how long are you staying in Dillydale?" she asked Little Miss Aloof.
"A week," the young Little Miss answered.
"What do you think of Dillydale so far?"
Little Miss Aloof hesitated, wondering if she should be honest. Finally, she admitted," I wasn't sure about it at first." She glanced at her uncle and then the best friends, her gaze lingering longest on Mr. Small. "But everyone has been really nice and welcoming."
Mr. Grumpy frowned, having that bad feeling again. Suddenly wanting to get his niece away from the small Mr. Man, he stood up and grabbed her hand. "Come on, Miss. Aloof, let's get some lunch. Miss. Music," he added, turning to her," do you want to come with us?"
"Thank you, Mr. Grumpy, but I promised to go meet Miss. Calamity at the park."
"Can we come to lunch with you, Mr. Grumpy?" Mr. Nosy asked, getting up as well.
Mr. Grumpy hesitated, noticing Little Miss Aloof's eyes shining with excitement as she looked at Mr. Small. He was about to object, but the small man beat him to it. "We can't, Nose. We have something else to do."
"We do?" Mr. Nosy looked confused, and it occurred to Mr. Grumpy that they didn't really have anything to do, but Mr. Small was making something up as if he knew that Mr. Grumpy didn't want his niece to get too close to the friends.
"Yes, we do." Mr. Small hopped out of the chair and guided Mr. Nosy to the door. Little Miss Aloof looked disappointed to see them go, and Mr. Grumpy almost called them back, but even though the small man was only trying to help, Mr. Grumpy really didn't like them so he didn't want his niece to get too attached to them. Especially since she'll only be here for a few more days.
Mr. Grumpy said goodbye to Little Miss Music, and Little Miss Aloof sadly followed her uncle out of the house and to the car. She didn't speak as they drove down the road. She was very upset. Why didn't Mr. Small want to come with them? Was it because of her? Did he not want to be around her anymore?
Does he not like me like I thought he did? she suddenly thought, feeling herself start to cry. Was she too pushy? Did she come on too strong? Tears ran down her face. He was so welcoming to her, which was a nice change from the way people usually treated her. She just wanted to hang out with him. She didn't mean to scare him…
"Hey. Hey, are you okay?"
Little Miss Aloof jumped at her uncle's voice and turned to him, wiping her face. "Y-Yeah," she sobbed.
He looked at her and immediately pulled the car over. He didn't know what to do. The young Little Miss was crying and he didn't know what to do! He looked around, hoping to see someone who would know what to do. But suddenly the streets were empty, and he was left with his crying niece.
Then he thought of someone and he put the car in drive, making a U-Turn and stepping on the gas, wanting to get there as fast as he could. Little Miss Aloof gasped and looked around.
"W-Where are we going?" she stammered.
Mr. Grumpy didn't answer, and a moment later, he pulled up to the large observatory.
Looking out the window, Little Miss Aloof let out an excited squeak. Then she sighed and looked away. "Why did you bring me here?" she asked, turning to her uncle.
Mr. Grumpy fidgeted in his seat. What was he supposed to say? He's a terrible babysitter and he drove here because the small Mr. Man seems to be the only one who can make his niece happy?
Before he could say anything, the door to the observatory opened and the two Mr. Men walked out. They looked confused, and Mr. Grumpy sighed, trying not to let his frustration show. He had panicked and this was the first place he could think of to go because Little Miss Aloof was upset and he didn't know what to do other than come here. He was regretting his decision.
"Come on," Mr. Grumpy said, and he unbuckled and got out of the car.
Little Miss Aloof hesitated, before following him. She stopped some distance from everyone and avoided eye contact. She didn't know why her uncle brought her here, and she was feeling very uncomfortable.
"Greetings, Mr. Grumpy," the small Mr. Man said, and Mr. Grumpy murmured a hello.
"Whatcha doing here, Mr. Grumpy?" asked Mr. Nosy.
Mr. Grumpy didn't say anything at first, and Little Miss Aloof looked up at him, wondering what he was thinking.
Finally, he said to Mr. Small," Can I talk to you? Alone?"
Mr. Small looked surprised. "Oh. Um.. yeah, of course. Why don't we all go in?"
Little Miss Aloof thought about staying outside, but her uncle gestured for her to follow him, and she reluctantly joined the others inside. She watched as Mr. Small and Mr. Grumpy went to another room. Mr. Nosy was watching them too.
"I wonder why Mr. Grumpy wants to talk to Mr. Small," the light green Mr. Man said.
Little Miss Aloof sighed. Probably about me, she thought, sadness washing over her. She really thought her uncle was putting in the effort to get to know her. He even took her to meet someone who also enjoys music. But now he was probably going to complain about her to Mr. Small, and if Mr. Small didn't like her anymore, he'll agree with Mr. Grumpy's complaints. She whimpered softly and wished her dad never brought her here.
