Chapter 7 Confession

Bennet's POV

I groaned as I slowly opened my eyes.

When I did…I found myself staring at a ceiling. A ceiling I instantly recognised.

I was in the cathedral's infirmary. I could tell because I had landed myself here before.

I sat up in my bed before looking around, and when I did…I spotted a familiar face sleeping on the edge of the bed, along with her pet raven.

"Mein Fräulein", he started. "The boy has awoken!"

With that…Fischl slowly opened her eyes.

Then she looked up, and gasped in shock when she saw me.

"Bennet", she started before she got up and came closer to me. "You're awake! Are you okay?!"

"Yeah", I replied. "I'm ok…"

Before I could finish…Fischl tackled me into a hug!

"You idiot", she yelled. "You scared me half to death, you know that?!"

"I'm sorry", I apologised.

"Why did you go to Dragonspine alone", Fischl asked as she broke away from me.

"I tried asking people if they wanted to go with me", I revealed. "But nobody did."

"What about me", Fischl asked. "I said that I'd gladly go adventuring with you!"

After Fischl said this…I looked away from her guiltily.

"Its just…", I started. "Dragonspine is dangerous as it is. And with my bad luck on top of that? I…was worried that you'd end up getting hurt."

After I said this, Fischl looked at me in shock.

"So…", she started. "You didn't ask me to come with you…out of fear that I'd get hurt?"

"Y…yeah", I replied.

Then…Fischl suddenly got angry again.

"That's exactly why you should've asked me to come with you", she exclaimed.

"Wh…what", I asked.

"I want to go with you when you go on dangerous missions, Bennet", Fischl exclaimed. "So that I can protect you in case anything happens!"

"You…you want to protect me", I asked.

"Yes", Fischl replied.

Then…she hugged me again.

"If anything were to happen to you, I'd never forgive myself."

"Re…really", I asked.

"Really", Fischl replied before looking at me. "So in the future, please don't go on a dangerous adventure without me, okay?"

After Fischl asked this…I realised that there was something I had to ask.

"Fischl, what are your feelings for me?"

"Wh…what", Fischl asked in shock, her face now turning bright red.

"You haven't flat out rejected me yet", I said. "However, that still doesn't tell me if you like me back or not."

After I said this…Fischl turned her head away from me shyly.

Then…she whispered the answer I had been wanting to hear for so long.

"I do."

"Huh", I asked.

Then, Fischl turned to face me with a look of confidence on her face.

"I…I like you Bennet!"

This took me by surprise.

"You…you do", I asked.

"I do", Fischl replied.

Then…she cleared her throat before continuing to speak.

"Bennet, from now on…you and I are an official couple!"

This also took me by surprise.

But then…a huge smile spread across my face.

"Got it!"
