Saturday was a normal day for the class and Sunday rolled around lazily. Alice had knocked on Uraraka's door early in the morning. She had gotten a text from her mom a few minutes before asking to come visit for a bit. She had sweets for the class and just wanted to see her daughter and congratulate her after getting a probational license. "Uraraka! Hey!" She greeted the sleepy girl cheerfully. "My mom has some sweets for the class that Im gonna go pick up today. Wanna go? I just have to go check out with the main office." Alice was actually dressed in something other then her uniform today. She was in a black pair of black skinny jeans with chains that ran from her belt to the side's of her knees. Buckles lined up and down the ripped fabric of her legs, showing off the muscle beneath. She had on a large zip up hoodie, a plain black tank top underneath. Uraraka felt her face redden slightly. She hadnt seen Alice look like this before. In fact, she'd only seen the girl in her workout stuff, her P.E. Clothes, and her uniform.
"S-sure. Let me get changed. Ill meet you downstairs?" Uraraka said with a nervous laugh. Alice rose a brow, but agreed and wandered off towards the elevator- leaving the other female flustered as she got ready. She did NOT expect Alice to dress like that. Was the girl Goth? Punk? She didnt know, but it flustered her to no end.
Alice headed downstairs, not a care in the world. She didnt even notice the students staring at her like she had grown another head. "Hey! Fumikage. I gotta grab an energy drink. Excuse me." She slipped around the boy to grab a drink from the fridge. He stood there, face red, watching her carefully. The gods were tormenting him now.
"N-No problem, Alice." He managed to cough out and leaned on the counter. He was trying to calm his red face before the girl saw him.
"Im going to go down to the main office and see if I cant go visit my mom." She let out a sigh and cracked open the can. "I havent seen her since I moved back. She has sweets for everyone. Do you have a preference?" She looked up at the male and her smile vanished. "Do you have a fever? Your face is all red." Alice approached him and leaned up, placing the back of her hand on his forehead. He wasnt warm, but his face was pretty flushed.
Kirishima and Kaminari were covering their mouths and trying not to laugh. They had seen this coming and tired to warn the bird-boy, but he had reacted too late. The whole punk look suited her quite well. She looked good. "Nahhh. I think its kinda warm in here." Kirishima came to his defense and wrapped an arm around the boy's shoulders. "You go enjoy yourself today. We will make sure he gets plenty of bed rest."
Alice hesitated, but nodded. "Alright, just make sure to drink water- okay?" She smiled faintly up at Fumikage- who only nodded. "Uraraka and I are gonna go. Im excited to see my mom again. Oh! Do you guys have a preference for sweets?"
"Got anything spicy?" Bakugo appeared in the doorway with his toothbrush in his mouth. He looked down at the girl and rose a brow, moving to the sink to rinse. "What's with the Goth chick getup?" He stood straighter and looked her up and down again.
"Spicy? I think we have some cayenne... Ill check with my mom." Alice went to speak again, but closed her mouth and looked down at herself. "Goth?" She looked confused before laughing. "Oh! This is normally what I look like. Im usually too lazy to dress up unless I go somewhere. I guess you can call it goth." Alice mused faintly and turned around, showing off the back of her jeans. "I just havent had the time to do anything since I got here. Maybe you should call it punk?"
Bakugo rose his brows and snorted. It suit her well. The way the pants hugged her hips finally gave them something to look at. The school uniforms didnt look right on anyone. He nodded approvingly. "Whatever you wanna call it. Looks good." He shrugged. Truthfully, he had come out of the locker rooms because Mineta had come in screaming about her. He'd been curious. He hadnt seen the girl in normal clothes.
Alice smiled brightly, "Thanks!" She snagged her drink again and headed off towards Uraraka, who had just come out of the bathrooms herself. "Ready? Its not too far, take the train into town and we should be good." She linked arms with her friend, who still wasnt fully awake.
Tokoyami had leaned forward and took a deep breath, he didnt realize he was holding his breath the entire time. "Sweet gods... She likes to push my buttons without even realizing it." He rubbed his head, soothing his ruffled feathers.
"I told you to ask her out, dude." Kirishima snorted and leaned around the door frame to look at Alice and Uraraka as they left.
"And you know I can not. I made an oath to focus on my studies." Tokoyami sighed softly. He'd be leaving to go to Hawks agency tonight.
Bakugo rose a brow and looked between them, a faint frown on his lips. "You like her or somethin'?" He motioned over his shoulder. "She's kinda a nerd. I can see why she's your type."
Tokoyami bristled uncomfortably, "She is not a nerd. She is incredibly sweet and smart." The male retaliated, adjusting his shirt to stand straighter.
Bakugo shrugged, "She's still a nerd." He thought it was kind of amusing that Tokoyami was flustered by her. Yeah, she was attractive and had a good head on her shoulders, but never in his right mind would a girl fluster him. The male paused a moment, his brow's furrowing. Did she fluster him? No. Frustrated- but never fluster. He enjoyed her company quite a lot compared to most of the other females in their class and she wasnt even in their class. She was sassy when she got comfortable and even taunted him into fighting her.
Alice and Uraraka got on the train and headed out towards the the town. Nezu had approved them to be out a lot longer than she had intended, so she was going to take the opportunity to turn their day out into a fun date. Alice was sure there were a few places that both of them could go and enjoy. "You like Mochi, dont you?" Alice was holding the bar on the subway as they drew into the station.
"Yes! I love sweets, especially Mochi" Uraraka braced herself as the wheels screeched to a stop.
"Good! Because Mama's Mochi is some of the best downtown. I used to go there all the time when I'd come on vacation to visit my mom."
"Ive never heard of such a place." Uraraka's eyes widened and gasped slightly. "Where downtown is it?"
"Past the bridge, its just in the red light district, but trust me- its nothing of the sort." Alice stepped off and they headed up the stairs into the bright daylight. Alice took a deep breath, she missed the city. "This way. We can take a short cut."
The girls headed down an alley and cut through a few roads before they got to the river. Alice glanced back and forth, offering her hand to Uraraka. "Come on, trust me." Her grin was mischievous. "Once we are across, dont talk to anyone, okay? Stay close to me." Alice's shadow extended across, creating a bridge for them to walk across. Chess's little face followed along behind them, meowing contently once they were back on their feet.
The alley they cut through opened up into a small business street, a few people gave them looks, but it didnt last long. Alice's demeanor completely changed, she squared her shoulders and reached to hold the girl's hand, their fingers tangling together. Uraraka looked at Alice, her cheeks faintly pink, she'd never seen the girl look so... different? There was an almost intimidating air about her- which was much different that the goofy girl she knew.
Alice tugged her along until they turned down another alley, coming out into a small street. It wasnt as congested as the rest, but a few people were sitting on doorsteps, watching the girls with a hesitant gaze. In front of them was a small shop wedged in-between two houses, the storefront was plain and you could easily miss the sign if you didnt look for it. The name "Mama's Mochi" scrawled in both Japanese and English. "What you girls doing on this side of town?" A guy leaned forward from the house beside them. He had a faint smirk on his lips and cracked a smile when Uraraka looked at him. "Come on, dont give me the cold shoulder, sweetheart. Im sure your boyfriend wont mind if you have a bit of fun."
A faint growl came from over Alice's shoulder and a clawed hand shot out, grabbing the male's face and clamping down hard. "No, but her girlfriend might." Alice's voice dripped with venom and she released him a few moments after. "Dont talk to her. Got it?" She locked eyes with the male, who had stood angrily and ready to fight. Uraraka felt her face redden, but looked down at the ground. Her heart was pounding.
There was a moment of silence between them before he scoffed, "Alright, fuck- psycho." He turned his attention back to his porch, grumbling under his breath.
Alice pushed the fabric back and stepped down into the small shop. It was fairly plain, a small cooler off to the side and a glass display case to the right. "Mama!" She called out, her entire body relaxing.
"Welcome welcome!" An older lady stepped out from behind another door farther into the shop. She was a bit taller than Alice herself, her white hair pulled back into a low braid. She had a blue stripe running from her lip to just under her chin. "Oh! Alice sweetheart. I havent seen you in years, how are you?" They embraced for a moment, the older lady cupping Alice's face gently. "You have grown up into such a wonderful young lady. Goodness. Your mother should be proud. Did you get into that hero school over in Canada?"
Alice smiled, "I actually am attending U.A now. I moved back home to live with my mom."
"Oh sweetheart! That's fantastic. Im glad you and little Chess are doing so well." She scratched under the cat's chin as he appeared. "Are you are your friend up for some Mochi?"
"Always!" Alice moved to introduce Uraraka and the girls settled into a small bench as the older woman went to get the ice cream. "Are those guys outside bothering you?" Alice thanked the woman as she took the plate form her.
The older woman's smile vanished and she shoot her head. "No dear, those men outside were contracted to keep an eye on my shop so no one tried to break in. Did they give you a hard time?" Her deep brown gaze was worried and she glanced to the door.
"No, but they are disgusting." Alice wrinkled her nose. She hated where the woman's shop was- she was far too sweet for an area like this. The people around these parts were disgusting to say the least. At least most of them. She had learned early on from her mother that not everyone in the Red light district was a bad person, they just were at a bad point in their life or made bad decisions. "The guy next door was flirting with Uraraka."
The older woman clicked her tongue and wiped her hands off on her dress. "Brown hair? That's Roland. Ill have a talk with his boss." She frowned. "Im so sorry dear for his actions."
Uraraka waved her hands, "Its okay! Alice did warn me not to talk to anyone. I didnt mean to cause any trouble."
"You didnt dear." The old woman popped back around the counter and grabbed the pair another Mochi for the road. "Alice is right, be careful around these parts. Not everyone is a scoundrel, but some dont know when to behave."
The two girls nodded in agreement and thanked the woman for the food. She didnt take payment, she never did for Alice's family. Alice's mother had a reputation around these parts. The Pro-Hero business always looked down on the Red light district. They left it to the police to deal with. Alice's mother was one of the first pro-heroes to specifically work within the red light district. She didnt just go after villains, but helped get people back on their feet. Her name had been painted across the streets as someone not to mess with due to her charity and kindness.
The male was still leaning on the porch when the girl's left. Alice gave him a side glance, but said nothing. She kept her jaw squared as they headed to the street. The male trailed after them for a few steps, his hands idly in his pockets. "So who the fuck are you. I havent seen you on this side of town." His voice was demanding.
Alice took a breath and turned to look him over. She held so much confidence in her gaze. "What's it to you? Cant someone go get Mochi?" She said, her voice smooth. Chess appeared on her shoulders, tendrils of black shadow wisping off his back and tail. Alice didnt release Uraraka's hand, her magenta gaze didnt look away when the man let out a chuckle.
"Considering Im in charge of watching this place and its pretty suspicious that two teenage heroes would be visiting the red light district. I knew Id seen that one before. You guys from that UA high school, arent you?" He flicked out a pocket knife, a faint grin on his lips. "We dont take kindly to heroes around these parts."
Alice didnt even flinch. She knew better than to use her quirk outside of school functions- but Chess was ready to respond if he lunged at them. "Does matter where we are from. We are just getting food and leaving."
"We dont want trouble." Uraraka's voice came out next and she glanced to Alice nervously. She knew better than to use her quirk either. She had her license, but didnt want to get in trouble for using it outside an agency. "Just let us leave, please."
"Awh, she said please." He'd glanced back at another male who'd come out of his house. The other male was twice his height and his fist shifted into a morning star as he trotted down the stairs. "Please dont do jack shit here."
Alice put herself between her and Uraraka again, readying herself for a fight. She wouldnt let Uraraka get in trouble for a fight she started. "Roland! Leave those girls alone!" Mama Mochi shot out from her store, looking extremely defensive as she got in front of the male. "That is Sun's daughter! Dont you dare hurt her."
Roland took a step back, blinking at the old woman in surprise. "Sun's daughter? The black haired brat?" He looked Alice over, who didnt back down. Her magenta gaze held fire behind it. He knew that fire. Rising Sun was a spitfire of a woman who had gotten him a job with his current boss. He closed his knife and held up his hands. "My bad, Mrs. Mochi. I had no idea." He glanced to the girls and nodded slowly. "My apologizes, kid. You cant be too careful around these parts." He gave her a faint smirk.
Alice gritted her teeth. A low hiss in her throat. Bastard. "No problem. Dont fucking do it again." She said back at him, her body still positioned between him and Uraraka.
They turned their attention back to the streets. They could hear Mama Mochi yelling at the male about flirting and harassing with patrons. "You okay?" Uraraka bumped her shoulder into her friends. Alice looked tired. "He's an asshole."
"Yeah, he is. It just takes a lot of energy to keep Chess from reacting." Alice puffed her cheeks. Chess was in her hoodie again, lounging lazily like it hadnt even happened. "I can keep him under control if I can keep myself under control." She ran her hand through her hair as they stepped out onto the main road towards the bridge. "People like that piss me off."
"I can tell, you are pretty scary when your mad." Uraraka laughed and glanced down at their hands again. Her face had reddened slightly. She wasnt just scary. Alice had a dangerous look to her when she was mad. It was attractive, but Uraraka couldnt pinpoint the emotion truthfully. Was she attracted to Alice? She really liked the girl, but it wasnt the same feeling that she felt with Deku. "Where are we off to next?"
Alice let out a breath, "Uh, my mom's Coffee shop." She motioned over the bridge, letting her mind wander back to the guy and his buddy. Staying confident in a fight like that could mean life or death in that part of the city.
