Chapter 10: Good God, Ya'll
Colorado Pass. Not my favorite town right now as I stood with my shotgun in hand next to Jo and Rufus. I'd been hunting with Jo for about a year now and then her mom joined in to watch over us as we hunted. My visions of victims getting eating up by monsters have passed on. I no longer get them. I guess since they killed the demon with the yellow eyes (that's what Ellen told me the Winchester's did before I left them at Bobby's) they say that our psychic powers were over. I still felt like I was a bit of a psychic. I still could feel spirits and words beyond but that was because of my mom. She was the psychic in the family. And that's why we were here today. I could sense demons in this town. Or something fishy and I really didn't like it.
Finally. We came up on a couple of people. One tall man and one stout woman.
"Don't move you evil skank !" Jo said as she pressed her rifle against the woman's back. I gripped mine tight against me and pointed it at the tall guy.
"Move and I blow your head off," I said dangerously in warning.
"Kaylee?" Sam asked in shock.
"Sam-" But the demon grabbed my gun and took it from me and knocked me to the ground. The other demon let go of Ellen to help. Sam helped me up off the ground, but I pushed him against the wall.
"You black-eyed son of a bitch, get the hell out of him," I said, trying to keep him steady against the wall.
"Don't you hurt her, you-" Ellen said to Jo.
"Give me my mom back, you black-eyed bitch!" Jo cried.
Ellen shoved Jo off of her and Sam let go of me. "Ellen! Run!" Sam cried as Rufus also attempted to hit Sam in the head. Ellen ran, while Rufus got Sam on the ground with his gun pointed in Sam's face.
"Got you now, you bastard," Rufus said.

We took possessed Sam back inside the house. I was wondering how he got possessed because of the Supernatural books I read that they got tattooed devil traps on them. There had to be some sort of spell or something like that at least that's what Rufus told me.
Jo and I carried gallons of water. Sam was waking up to his tied hands behind his back in a chair.
"Uh-uh. No way you're getting out of those. Did you up myself. You're stuck right where I want you, you evil son of a bitch." Rufus said. He backhanded Sam. Jo splashed him with water in the face then looked confused. Rufus grabbed Sam's neck, forcing his head back.
"No, wait, wait, wait. Kaylee, you're a psychic a born natural medium what does your heart tell you?" Sam asked.
"That you're a black-eyed demon," I said, seeing his black eyes emerge from his green ones. Jo put her water jug down and went to hold Sam's head back.
"Just, just wait," he pleaded.
"I just can't figure out how you're doing it," I said while Rufus poured salt on Sam's face and into his mouth.
"Exorcisamus te, exorcisamus te, omnis satanica—"
"Stop!"
"—omnis immundum—" Rufus continued on.
"Please! Please! Come on!"
"—omnis immundus—" Rufus tried again. He stopped. Nothing was working. Jo let go of Sam and picked up her water jug. She looked at Kaylee ready to pour it all over Sam.
"Look! Something's not right! Do you see that? Kaylee, please, I'm begging you," Sam pleaded. I was about to splash him with water but I stopped, pausing in mid throw.
"Don't let him get into your head Kaylee," Jo said and splashed Sam with the water he spit out.
"Come on! Stop! Listen to me!" Sam cried. Jo went to grab something else. Sam noticed that someone was just outside the door. He's sitting directly under a devil's trap. He turned his ring on his finger.
"Listen!" Sam kept trying to reason with us.
Jo, Rufus and I came close in a corner.
"Why isn't it working?" Jo asked.
"I don't know," Rufus said.
"And how could the demon know I was a psychic?" I asked.
"Well, demons dig deep. They can really mess with your head," Jo said. I nodded. Rufus looked over my shoulder and stared at Sam who bore the black eyes.
"Look, listen to me, something's not right!" Sam yelled.
"But he's not as strong as he thinks he is," Rufus said.
"You can see that. Please. Please. Just listen to me," Sam begged.
"Okay let's regroup, rethink this, Kaylee you watch him, okay?" Jo said.
I nodded and took my own chair and sat down in front of Sam, setting my jug of water down beside me while they moved to another room.
"Kaylee," Sam said.
"Don't worry, we'll get him out of you soon enough," I said.
Someone chuckled behind me. "How cute," it said. I turned around to stare at the other demon. Chills ran down my spine.
"What's it to you?"
"It's not. I mean I know who you are or who you used to be."
"That's over," I said. "As soon as he died. It's over. I'm not the Queen of the Underworld anymore," I said.
The demon chuckled. "So you think princess," he said.
"So, who the hell are you?" Sam asked.
The man took off his glasses, no more black eyes. I frowned. What was going on?
"What are you?" Sam asked.
"You caught me. Popped in to watch. I can hustle like that," he said. The hairs of my neck stood up. Now I knew something was wrong. I looked back to Sam. No more black eyes. I looked into my psychic senses trying to suss out what was the real problem here.
"So, the Roger everyone around here knows, the real Roger?" Sam asked.
"Buried in a ditch."
Sam rolled his eyes and nodded. Then the man got up and closed the door he sat in a chair in front of us.
"So who are you?" I asked.
"Here's a hint. I was in Germany. Then in Germany. Then in the Middle East. I was in Darfur when my beeper went off. I'm waiting to hook up with my siblings. I've got three. We're going to have so much fun together."
"I know who you are," Sam said. "There aren't any demons in town, are there?"
"Nope. Just frightened people ripping each other's throats out. I really haven't had to do too much. Take out a bridge here, lay in a little hallucination there, sit back, pop some corn, watch the show. Frankly, you're really vicious little animals, Sam."
Sam shook his head. "No. You're doing this."
"Please. Last week, this was Mayberry. Now these people are stabbing each other's children."
"'Cause you made them see demons!" Sam cried.
"War, you're War, from the Four Horsemen," I said.
"You know your bible, kiddo," he said with a chuckle. I rolled my eyes. "Honestly, people don't need a reason to kill each other. I mean, you seen the Irish? They're all Irish."
Sam rolled his eyes.
"You think I'm a monster. I'm jello shots at a party. I just remove inhibitions," War reminded us.
"I'm gonna kill you myself," Sam promised.
War laughed. "Oh, that's adorable, considering you're my poster boy."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sam asked. I frowned.
"You can't stop thinking about it, ever since you saw it dripping off the blade of that knife."
"You're wrong." Sam said.
"Save your protests for your brother. I can see inside your head. And man, it is one-track city in there. Blood, blood, blood. Lust for power. Same as always. You want to be strong again. But not just strong. Stronger than everybody. Good intentions—quick slide to hell, buddy boy. You feel bad now? Wait till you're thigh deep in warm corpses. Because, my friend, I'm just getting started," War stood up and put his glasses back on.
I looked at Sam incredulously. He frowned at me and I wanted to know what War meant by all this blood stuff.
"Showtime for the meatsuits. Watch this," War twisted his ring on his finger. Blood flowed down from his forehead. He backhanded me and I fell down to the floor, hearing Sam scream out my name as I lost conscious, hearing War scream. Rufus kicked the door open with Jo right behind him.
"He did it! She fainted!"
"NO!" Sam yelled.
"He said they're coming! He said they're coming to get us!"
"No, stop! Jo, Rufus, he's lying! No!"
"You shut your mouth!" Rufus said.
"Please! Jo! He's lying!"
Rufus backhanded Sam.

I slowly started to come awake. Sam was beside me, he was the only one in the room. "Sam?" I asked, hoping it was only him and just him.
"Hey, hey yeah it's me, just me right now are you okay?" He asked helping me up off the ground.
"What did I miss?" I asked.
"Just the jist of it. We got War's ring. There were no demons in town," Sam said. I blinked and saw him into focus.
"I should've known,"
"But you couldn't have, you were hallucinating demons," Sam said. "And I guess you took my advice literally," he chuckled lightly.
"Yeah, sure did," I said. "I just met Rufus though to be honest. I've been hunting with Jo and Ellen for a year now. And I heard…read what happened between you and your brother," I said.
"Read?" Sam asked. "Oh, right those stupid Supernatural books…." He grimaced.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that," I said. "I wish I was there for you."
"You were already there for us when I thought I was loosing Dean after that crash," Sam said. "Thank you."
I smiled sheepishly. "I just should've been more open to the idea that a demon wasn't really inside of you because you have that tattoo on your chest," I said. "And I still have," I showed him my dangling charm bracelet of the devil's trap that he made me.
"There you are, ready to go?" Jo asked, walking inside.
"Yeah, I'll be there in a minute," I said.
Jo looked at Sam and smiled then she walked out.
"So much to catch up on…" I said.
"So little time," Sam said. "Uh…I've uh, well Dean and I are going our separate ways. I just wanted to say goodbye before I left. A note would've been nice when you left at Bobby's," he said.
"Sorry, I didn't want to cause anything," I said. "Next time."
"Next time," Sam nodded.
"Hey is it really true that I no longer have that title queen of the underworld?" I asked.
"As far as I know," Sam said. "You're off the hook. I think War was just pulling your chains. You didn't have any more of your psychic visions of people getting eatin' by monsters?"
"Nope, not one," I breathed a sigh of relief and hugged Sam tight. Sam hugged me back and I was beginning to like his hugs, his warm delightful hugs that seem to make the world a little bit better every time I hugged him.
"Where will you go?" I asked.
"I don't know, anywhere but here I guess," Sam said.
"Yeah anywhere but here," I agreed.
