Chapter 5
Dayo ran into where his wife and their guests were eating, pretending to be out of breath. Everybody all looked at him.
"You okay, Dayo?" Aika wanted to know. Her husband shook his head.
"No." He said to her. "It's that weird grey skinned kid. He's drowning!" Everyone jolted from their chairs.
"Rogu!" Roger screamed. "He can't swim!"
"This way, quick!" Aika said to them all and they all ran after her, Toshi grabbing Klaus.
As soon as they ran to the pool in the backyard, Klaus jumped into the pool. He swam over to Rogu's body and pushed him closer to his friends.
"Oh, Rogu!" Roger grabbed him.
"Give him to me." Aika said. "I know CPR." Roger handed him over and Aika did CPR on Rogu.
"Come on, Rogu!" Roger prayed to himself "Breathe, son! Breathe! Oh, gosh!" Klaus and Toshi prayed silently to themselves.
"Well?!" Roger asked after a while. "Is my son still alive?" Aika looked at him and sadly shook her head.
"I'm so sorry." She apologized.
"No." A devastated Roger said to himself. He dropped to his knees and screamed to the sky. "ROGUUUUU!" He burst into tears. Toshi and Klaus shed a few tears themselves.
"I tried my best," Aika said to the grieving father. "Truly I did." Roger looked at her, teary-eyed. He sniffed.
"I know you did." He spoke through his tears. "And I thank you for that, from the bottom of my heart." He looked down at his son. "He was a good son. He really was. Oh, Rogu, my baby!" He cried all over again.
"You really think that, Daddy?" A familiar voice asked. Everyone gasped as they saw that it was Rogu! He sat up. "Am I really a good son?" Roger cried new tears, but these tears were the joyful kind. He hugged him.
"Yes, son." He said. "The greatest, very much, son! I love you and am so relieved that you are alive."
"I love you too, Daddy." He pointed to Dayo. "He tried to murder me by the way." Everyone was shocked and looked at Dayo.
"Did you?" Roger asked Dayo. "Did you try to kill my son? Why?! He's just a kid. What did he ever do to you? Well, I guess he might have just exposed you, but still! He's a good, innocent kid."
"Did you try to murder him, Dayo?" Aika asked. Dayo looked at his wife.
"Oh stop pretending, Aika. You know I did. I had to. He knew too much." Klaus, Roger and Toshi gasped. Roger got angry.
"You monster!" Roger shouted at him. "You're worse than Kondo because you purposely tried to kill a child. Only an evil and sick, twisted person would kill a child. You're evil! You are nothing but true evil!" Dayo looked at his wife.
"Why did you try to perform CPR on him?" He asked her. "We would have easily gotten away with it and they wouldn't of suspected a thing."
"I did it because it was the right thing to do." Aika spoke to Dayo. "Honestly, Dayo, trying to drown a little kid? Really?! I'm disappointed in you. What were you thinking?"
"I didn't want to kill him. Honestly, I didn't, but he left me with no choice. I was doing it for us." Aika folded her arms across her chest. She was mad at Dayo.
"No, you were being selfish and doing it for yourself and you know it. This wasn't the plan. I want a divorce." Dayo gasped.
"You don't really mean that."
"I do. What you and I had is forever gone. You mean nothing to me now."
"But…but…come on, I can change."
"Nope, no way. There's nothing you can do to repair the damage."
"But…but…"
"Sorry." Roger said to him. "She doesn't love you anymore. You really messed up, bucko." Dayo got mad.
"Fine! I don't need you. I don't need anyone! And you better not tell them!" Roger was confused.
"Tell us what?" He looked at Aika. "What is he talking about?"
"I know the whereabouts of the torch carrier of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. You see, Dayo and I aren't the only ones who planned this kidnapping. There were others from other were all disappointed that Japan was continuing, despite the ongoing pandemic. The torch carrier is…" But before she could continue, Dayo pulled out his gun and shot her in the foot. Everyone gasped as she fell to the floor. Roger ran to her side.
"He's where?" The alien wanted to know. "Where are you guys hiding him?!" Aika tried to keep her breathing.
"Don't you dare tell!" Dayo threatened. "Or I swear I'll shoot again." He reloaded the gun.
"We need to call the Nigerian counterpart to 9-1-1!" Klaus piped up.
"But what is that?" Rogu asked.
"Like I'll ever tell!" Dayo said. Roger looked down at a still struggling Aika.
"What is it, Aika?" He wanted to know. "What's the police number here?"
"112." Toshi answered. They all looked at him as he looked on his phone. "No, hold on, it's 712 or is it 999? Huh? This doesn't make sense."
"So, what number do we call?" Rogu wanted to know. "If we call all of the possible numbers Toshi just said, it might be too late."
"Just call 9-1-1, Toshi." Klaus told him. "It'll direct it to the number we need." Toshi nodded. He was about to dial when Dayo interrupted him.
"Don't need to." Dayo said to them. "I called both the medics and the police to inform them. They're on their way." Roger looked at him.
"I don't think I believe you." He said. "For all we know, you could be lying and called in to order a pepperoni pizza." Dayo was confused.
"Why would I order a pepperoni pizza?" He asked. "I hate pepperoni pizza. In fact, I hate all pizzas. No, I promise. I called the police."
"Yeah, right!" Roger said doubtfully. "A likely story! Why would you, who purposely shot your wife in the foot, call for help?" He gasped as he realized something. "Unless….ooahhhhhh! You still love her, don't you?"
"No, I don't!" Dayo argued. "I just care for her and don't want her to die is all."
"Because you still have feelings for her."
"No I don't. Now, shut up and help me make sure she keeps breathing."
"How?"
"I don't know! Just, help me!" Roger and the others did just that.
Minutes later, they head sirens blaring from outside. Roger, Toshi, Rogu, and Klaus were all surprised.
"Shoot!" Toshi said. "He was telling the truth. He really did call the ambulance and police."
"See?" Dayo said proudly. "Despite my misdeed, I did something good."
"Don't be proud of him just yet." Roger piped up. "The ambiance could be for somebody else." Klaus saw that the truck and police car had both stopped outside and medics get out.
"Nein." Klaus put in. "I'm pretty sure that they are coming for her. I see the ambiance and medics from the window. Also, a police officer."
"What?!" A confused Roger wanted to know. He looked out of the window with everyone else. "Well, son of a gun! He was telling the truth." They all went for the door as the doorbell rang.
"If 'son of a gun ' is another saying," Rogu began. "It's a really weird one. Why would it be that?"
"English is such a strange language." Toshi agreed with Rogu.
Roger opened the door. Two men in medic uniforms stood before him.
"Where's the hurt victim?" One of them wanted to know,
"This way." Roger told him. "Follow me." The two men followed him as well as other medics with a stretcher.
"So," The policeman with a clipboard in his hands said to Dayo as his co-workers were lifting Aika on a stretcher. "You said over the phone that your wife Aika was shot in the foot." Dayo nodded. "Do you know who?"
"A crazy person in a black hoodie just came in here and shot her for no reason." Dayo lied. Roger and the gang were shocked.
"Do you know what he looks like besides the black hoodie?" Dayo shook his head.
"Sorry. No I don't. He had a ski mask on when he committed the horrible crime."
"I see. Does your wife have any enemies, one who might want to go far as try to murder her?" Again, Dayo shook his head.
"Sorry. No, I don't. I don't think she had any, honestly. She was the nicest and kindest person I know. That's why…" He began to fake cry. "I want justice for whoever did this. I want to see this sick person behind bars and I want my wife back safe and sound. I don't think I can handle it if she…if she dies of her wounds."
"I know you're worried about her." The officer said, putting his pen and clipboard away. "But the medics told me that they'll do all that they can to save her. In the meantime, try to be strong." Dayo nodded,
"I'll try, officer. Thank you." Roger had enough of this.
"Oh for crying out loud!" He said. Everybody looked at him. "It was him!" He pointed accusingly at Dayo. "Dayo! Dayo shot his wife in the foot!" Dayo pretended to be shocked.
"What?!" He asked. "Me? Why would I do such an absurd thing? I love my wife! I would never!"
"Oh, quit it, Dayo! You know exactly what you did." Dayo looked at the officer.
"Officer, can you believe this? He's accusing me of murdering my own wife. It's almost like he did it and he's just saving his skin." The officer nodded in agreement.
"I see."
"You're not actually believing him, are you, Officer?" Roger asked him.
"Actually. I don't know who to believe."
"Then believe me! I know that I'm 100% telling you the truth. I'm innocent here. My friends can vouch for me!"
"Yeah!" His friends all agreed.
"Are you really going to believe these kids and their talking fish?" Dayo questioned the officer. The officer was about to answer when he felt a tug on his sleeve. The officer looked down at the eyes of Rogu.
"Officer?" The little alien asked with a pleading look on his face. "You're not going to arrest my daddy, are you?" The officer smiled and knelt down to his level.
"Don't worry." He assured him. "I know a growing boy like you need to have his father. We wouldn't dare do that unless we knew for certain that he's the one behind this." He stood back up. "However, we do need him to come down to the station to answer some questions." Roger groaned.
"Ugh, really?!" He wanted to know, "Seriously, again? I was literally just there after that deadly car crash that killed Adumbi."
"Sorry. You have to. I have to know who to arrest. I don't want to arrest the wrong person." Roger sighed.
"Fine, I'll go. I won't like it. I'm telling you right now, it''ll be pointless because I didn't do it."
"We'll see about that."
"And I assume you want me there too?" Dayo asked him. The officer looked at him.
"You assume correctly. Let's get going!" The officer stated, giving Roger a push, which Roger didn't like. He looked back at him.
"Whoa!" He said. "I'm going! There's no need to push." They were about to head to the door when they heard a faint yell in Japanese. They also heard a loud pounding. They all stopped in their tracks.
"That's a cry for help." Toshi spoke. "We're not alone. Someone's somewhere nearby." They all looked for the source.
"It's nothing!" Dayo said to everyone. "It's probably a dumb kid prank. Those darn kids, am I right?" The yell and pounding came again and again.
"I don't speak Japanese." Roger began. "But I think he's right. Someone is here with us. He is a Japanese expert after all."
"I think we'd know a cry for help from anywhere judging by the tone of voice he's using." Klaus reasoned. "Not just Japanese. All in all, it's still suspicious und we should investigate." Everyone but Dayo agreed and walked on.
"No we don't." Dayo said. "It's not suspicious at all. I'm telling you, it's a dumb kid prank." The officer started to get annoyed with Dayo.
"If it's not suspicious," He said to him. "And you have nothing to hide, then why are you acting this way? Your acting tells me that you are being suspicious and you are hiding something."
"No I'm not!" They all saw the door to the basement. Someone seemed to be banging on it from the other side. The yell was louder now.
"I knew you were hiding something! Now, open the door and let's see."
"No!"
"Open it!"
"I'll open it!" Roger said and ran to the door. Dayo turned to him, mad.
"Don't you dare!" He said. "This is my house!" Roger tried to open the door, but it didn't budge. Dayo laughed. "Ha! It's locked! There's nothing you can do." Roger opened the door.
"I opened it!" Dayo was shocked.
"How?!" Roger looked at him.
"A lone pin was on the floor. I saw it while we were walking this way. I picked it up because I thought it'd be useful, and lo and behold, it was!"
"And I thought we had put everything away."
"Nope; looks like you missed something!"
"Well, you still can't go down there." Roger ran down the stairs. "Hey!"
"Too late!" Everybody ran down too when they heard him gasp. "Everybody, stop! Doesn't anyone listen?!" He ran down as well. There was the missing Olympic torch carrier!
"I'll talk to him." Toshi told the officer. The officer nodded and let him do just that while he took Dayo outside.
Toshi and the others went outside too with the others. The torch carrier was with them. The officer looked at them. Dayo was locked in the backseat of the police car, looking unhappy.
"Well?" The cop asked Toshi. "What did he say?"
"He said he and a group of others kidnapped him and planned to keep him locked down in Dayo's basement until after the Olympics. They said they kidnapped him because they were all mad and disagreed with the Japanese government about the Games going on amidst a global pandemic. They hoped by doing this, they'd hope the Paralympics will be afraid and cancel on their own terms. That's why they didn't bother kidnapping anybody from there."
"That was the hospital." The police chief came to tell Roger.
"And?" Roger wanted to know. "What did they say?"
"Before Aika went into a coma, she told the head nurse something important."
"Which is?"
"She said that Aika said that Dayo's friends who all participated in this scheme are all going to land and be at the International Airport tonight on their private jet." Roger smiled.
"Perfect! We can meet them there and have them all arrested for their heinous crime." The police chief smiled too.
"Exactly what I was thinking!"
"Well, you know what they say, 'great minds think alike'".
"Exactly what I was saying!"
"Well, you know what they say 'great minds… you know what? Let's just go to the airport."
"Exactly what I was thinking!"
"Well, you know what they say, gre…"
"Can we just go to the airport, already?!" Klaus demanded to know. "They might leave and we might miss them because of your two stupid bickering!" He pointed a fin at the police chief who grinned. "And police chief, don't tell me that was exactly what you were thinking, and Braff…" He pointed at Roger. "Don't say that 'great minds think alike'. Time is of the essence here, people. Let's just cut the bull crap and mach schnell to the airport!" They all agreed and all drove off to the airport in the police chief's car. The police chief called the officer who had taken Dayo to drive and have them meet them there.
They all made it to the airport, but they all had to wait…and wait…and wait…and wait five hours straight. During the five hours, Dayo tried to escape, but the police chief and the others didn't let him. They all explored the stores and had lunch there also during that time.
Finally, before Dayo could escape again, someone recognized Dayo and ran up to him. Roger, Toshi, Klaus and Rogu recognized that it was Ye-jun.
"Hey, Dayo!" He greeted. "Ready to watch the catastrophe that is the non-Olympics?"
"Hey!" Roger piped up. "I know you!" Dayo's other friends came up beside Ye-jun. They recognized one of the men as Sato and Rogu, Klaus and Toshi recognized that the other one was Chen.
"Hey, I know you!" Roger said about Sato. Rogu pointed at Chen.
"And we know you, too!" Rogu spoke.
"This is a surprise." Sato said. "What are you guys doing here?" He and Chen saw the police and both cursed in their native languages.
"Why not warn us of the police?" Chen asked Dayo madly. "It would have helped us out a lot." Dayo eyed Chen.
"I couldn't!" He told him. "I was literally dragged here by the police! I wanted to text you guys, but my phone was taken away before I got the chance too."
"You three are going to be locked away for a long time." The police chief said to all of the criminals. "We already got your friend Kondo locked up. You all are going to watch the Olympics together in prison…as well as the Paralympics."
"NOOOOOOO!" The culprits all cried together.
"Finally, after what seems like a year plus." Roger said. "We solved this mystery. I say this calls for a celebration."
"But how are we going to celebrate?" Klaus wanted to know.
"I don't know, Fins. I just don't know."
As they all went back into the police cars, the police chief's phone rang. He took it out to answer it while Roger, Klaus, Rogu and Toshi all sat down in the car and buckled their seatbelts. The police chief put his head in the car and offered the phone to them.
"The Japanese government wants to talk to the heroes that saved the Olympics." He explained to them. "Do any one of you speak Japanese?"
"I can." Toshi chimed in. The chief gave Toshi the phone and Toshi talked into it in Japanese.
"Hmmmmm." Roger wondered out loud. "I wonder what they are saying."
"Probably how happy he is that we solved the case and saved the Olympics." Klaus replied. "You heard the police chief."
"Yeah, but we just solved it today. So how…?"
"News travels fast."
"Yeah, but that fast?!"
"You'd be surprised." Toshi hung up the phone and gave it back to the police chief. He looked back at his friends.
"The Olympic committee invited us to the Opening Ceremony of the Games." He informed them. All of his friends' jaws dropped.
"No kidding?" Roger asked. Toshi nodded. They all grinned.
"Wow!" Roger stated. "What an honor. I'll be the first alien at the Olympics I bet." He looked at Rogu. "And Rogu, you're be the first alien sperm at the Olympics."
"Hooray!" Rogu cheered. Toshi was confused. Roger grinned lamely.
"Kidding, kidding! We aren't aliens. They don't exist." Rogu was puzzled,
"But Daddy…" Roger put his arms around his mouth. "Three don't exist." Toshi was still mildly confused, but didn't ask any further.
"Wow!" Klaus marveled. "What an honor! After 35 years, I'll be back for the 2020 Olympics Games. I never thought I would see the day.
"It is quite an honor." Toshi agreed. "Steve, Barry and Snot will be so jealous of me when they see me on TV."
"Poor Steve. Always missing out on these mysteries. But we'll be there and we'll rub it in his face!"
"Klaus!" Roger scolded him. "Don't be so immature! I will be rubbing it in the poor boy's face!" Toshi said this to the police chief as he came back into the vehicle.
The next day, Rogu, Klaus, Toshi and Roger were back at the Tokyo International Airport. When they got to the gate, they all saw a man with a 'Fins and the Legman' sign.
"That's us!" Klaus said with glee.
"I know it is." Roger told him. "I know who we are. I haven't forgotten." They approached the man. "Hello, we are Fins and the Legman. Nice to meet you." The man smiled and bowed to them.
"It's a pleasure to have you back in our country, heroes of the Olympics." The man said. "Now if you follow me, I can drive you to your hotel. Then we go to the Olympic Village for the Opening Ceremony tonight."
"All right!" Roger cheered. "I can't wait!" So they followed the man outside.
The next day, they all went around Tokyo again, and then they headed for the Olympic Village. Roger, Klaus, Toshi and Rogu were greeted with great applause from the Village when they got there. The Prime Minister and the torch carrier were also there.
"I am the Prime Minister of all of Nippon." The PM said, bowing to them. "Yoshihide Suga. It is with great honor that we award you with these medals of your heroism for saving the Olympics. We, and the whole world thanks you." While he was talking, more men came out with medals and placed them around the heros' necks. For Klaus, the men put the Olympic logo sticker on his bowl.
"Can we take a picture?" Roger asked the PM.
"Why, of course." He answered. They all gathered around as Roger took a picture of them on his phone. The PM's friend and more citizens did too.
"Enjoy the Village." The PM told them when pictures were done and people were going amongst their own business once again. "The event will start shortly. I'll take you to your seats in a little while." And with that, he went off. Klaus, Rogu, Roger and Toshi all looked around, They all couldn't believe that they were back here at the Olympic Village, and mere minutes away from attending and watching the Olympic Ceremony.
Stan tuned into the Olympics. While he was watching the Opening Ceremony, he thought he saw a disguised Roger, Rogu, Toshi and Klaus watching from the stands and couldn't believe it. Is that…he then shook it off. Nah, it can't be them! Them being at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics? Ridiculous! You lost it,, Stan Smith! You totally lost it. He watched some more.
Later on in the program, when the flag parade represented America, he saw them this time. They were really there. They weren't in his head. Roger, Rogu, Klaus and Toshi were really there in the stands.
"Steve!" He shouted. "Francine, Jeff, Hayley! You all have to see this!" The family members all came into the room.
"What is it, Dad?" Hayley wanted to know. Steve saw that it was the flag parade and groaned.
"Dad, why'd you call us for this?" He asked. "It's the flag parade. It's the most boring thing they do in the Opening Ceremony. I bet it's even boring in real life in Japan just like here on TV."
"Steve's right, Stan." Francine agreed. "Tell us when the performances continue. They're the most interesting things to watch. Those, and the culture. If we want to know about the countries of the world, we can always use the Internet." They all were about to go again when Stan spoke up.
"Wait!" He cried. "Look; in the stands!" His family all looked and their jaws dropped as they saw Roger, Klaus, Rogu and Toshi in the stands.
"Mr. S," Jeff began. "Isn't that…?"
"It is…" Hayley said. "It is Roger, Klaus, Toshi and Rogu in the stands."
"I was wondering where they were." Francine said. "Now we know."
"And they didn't even think to invite us." Stan said.
"It's all stupid Covid's fault." Steve said. "If it wasn't for that, I would have gone in Klaus' place, but no! Mom wanted me to stay here and respect the rules. They aren't even supposed to be there!"
"Lucky jerks!" Stan said.
"Lucky jerks is right."
"I'm going to have a word with them when they get home. They will be home, right?" Francine looked at her husband.
"Stan, I think if it weren't for them, the Olympics wouldn't be happening right now. I think they saved the Olympics by getting back that Olympic torch carrier."
"I think Mom's right, Dad." Hayley said to her father. "I think it'll be wise not to be too harsh on them."
"Okay!" Stan said with a sigh. "I will not be too harsh with them…if they get home that is."
"They will get home." Hayley said. "I'm sure of it."
Rogu, Roger, Klaus and Toshi all got back two days later. The family all congratulated them on solving the mystery and saving the torch carrier and all of the Olympics. Toshi returned home to his family. Stan was mad that Roger, Klaus and Rogu stole the private plane, but then remembered that they were heros so didn't stay mad for long.
"But don't take the CIA plane without permission ever again, Roger." Stan said to the alien. "Promise me! Promise me that you won't take it without permission."
"I promise." Roger said. "Scout's honor, even though I'm not a scout." And with that, he was off. So was Rogu.
"He's not going to keep that promise, you know." Klaus spoke up. Stan sighed.
"I know. Let's just watch the rest of the Olympics to keep our minds off of it." And so, that is what they did.
Over two and a half weeks later, after the Closing Ceremony, there was a news piece that Aika woke up from her coma and was recovering. She was due to be discharged from the Nigerian hospital soon.
"Well, what do you know?' Roger stated. "Good for her I guess."
"Ja." Klaus agreed with a smile. "It sure is." He then realized something. "Wait a minute, what about her story about us?" Roger shrugged.
"Want to go back to Nigeria?" Klaus sighed.
"No. I guess it really doesn't really matter…it's what she wants."
"Darn right, fish." As if Aika read their minds from the TV, she was sorry she didn't interview them for the full story, and might not write the story anymore for no one would believe her and say she lost it.
"But we know it was real." Roger said.
"Ja." Klaus agreed. "We do, und that's all that matters."
"So I guess I'll make it into a fiction story!" Aika concluded on TV, surprising both Klaus and Roger.
"I'll read it!" Steve spoke. "Let's see the made up things she puts you guys through. You might have different names then and have completely different personalities and looks. It'll be like you guys will all be unrecognizable. OOOOh, this makes me so pumped. I can't wait!"
"Well, we'll still know our story was real." Rogu stated. "Because it was." Roger smiled at him.
"It sure was, son."
