Episode 12: Family Matters Part 1

Hey there guys, gals and non-binary pals! Tardispilot297 here bringing you another new episode of Mega-Man: Robotic Hero!

Well this is it everyone! There are only 2 episodes left of this entire first season. And I hope you're all as excited as I am. And as always it's time to announce this month's winner in the "Who's that Mega-Man Villain?" Contest. And this month's winner is… Theoldblood98!

And now without further ado, LET'S DO THIS!

Ever have one of those moments in your life where it feels like the whole world just shattered into pieces while time feels like it's completely stopped? It's a feeling that's somewhat hard to describe. And by the time everything feels normal again your brain still needs time to catch up to what's happening in that exact moment.

I used to think there was nothing left in life to throw me a curve ball like that but when I got home I was soon proven wrong. One minute I walked in through the front door expecting the usual welcome from Dad, Auto, and Rush. The next minute I find everyone including Dr's Cain and Lalinde hanging around the living room looking like they just had a very upsetting conversation. After that everything became a blur as I just stood in place with a blank look like a computer trying to reboot itself.

I was so out of it that I could barely register a voice that was talking to me with hands slightly shaking my shoulders. Finally I was able to come out of it enough to recognize Dad's voice saying my name. My vision returned to see both Dad and Dr. Lalinde standing in front of me looking worried. I blinked a few times before looking between them. "Dad? Dr. Lalinde? What's going on?" I asked them. Dad took a deep breath and let out a sigh. "Son, there's something we all need to talk about." Dad told me. As we all sat back down Dad started to tell me how there were some things regarding my creation that I still didn't know about.

Like for example it wasn't random that I was named Xavier. As it turned out Dad actually did have feelings for Dr. Lalinde and that she was his ex wife. It all started around 20 years ago when Dad and Dr. Lalinde started dating after working on a project together. After 2 years Dad finally got the nerve to pop the question and they were both married soon after. Nine months later the two of them ended up with a surprising new addition, a baby boy they named Xavier. As the boy grew up he showed to be just as kind hearted and brilliant as his parents. He even got to drop by and see them at Light Industries. In many ways it was like a second home to him.

One day as they were spending time together at home Dad got a call from Dr. Cain who informed him that Dr. Wily was doing something behind Dad's back. Dad looked angry and told Dr. Cain that he'd take care of it himself. As he hung up he told Dr. Lalinde that he had something to take care of and that he'd have to leave. The boy asked if he could come along with Dad showing some slight reluctance at first. However after some convincing from both his son and his wife he eventually gave in and agreed to take the boy along with him. They got in the car and drove off as Dr. Lalinde and Auto waved goodbye to them.

Dad drove them all the way out to a testing facility out in the countryside where a number of cars were parked. Among them appeared to be a few military vehicles which Dad felt uneasy seeing and asked the boy to stay in the car which the boy tried to argue against. After leaving him in the car Dad walked into the building and met up with Dr. Wily who was in the middle of talking to a group of people who were there to watch his presentation of what he had dubbed "Project: Zero". Upon seeing Dad Wily tried to play off his sudden appearance as a pleasant surprise. Dad on the other hand was less cordial as he asked Wily to step out into the hallway and talk to him privately.

Wily agreed and asked the group of people to wait a few minutes as the demonstration would soon begin. Once out of the room Dad wasted no time letting Wily have it as he specifically told him time and time again about creating robots for military purposes. Wily argued that he was doing exactly what Dad always wanted, to help build a peaceful world between humans and robots. Even if that meant causing a bit of destruction in the process. Dad wanted to argue with him but Wily stated that while ideals were peaceful, history on the other hand was violent beyond measure. And that if he was to make his dream of a peaceful future a reality he would have to be willing to get his hands a little dirty. After contemplating his words a part of Dad reluctantly had to agree with Wily to some extent. While he hated the idea of building weapons the fact remained that sometimes if you want peace, you have to prepare for war.

Wily seeing that Dad was slowly starting to come around invited him to witness the demonstration himself. Dad accepted and the two of them went back into the room where Wily announced that the demonstration was about to begin. Everyone turned to look out the window which opened up to show a large testing room on the other side of the glass. In the center of the room stood a robot in dark green armor with a blaster for an arm and a shield attached to the other. A few lab techs were putting the final touches on it when Dad noticed what they were using for the powersource. Seeing the Omega Core being installed into the robot's chest Dad looked at Wily with a look of shock and mild outrage. Wily on the other hand reassured him that everything would be fine. As the techs finished they cleared the room as Wily ordered over the intercom to commence the demonstration.

The robot's chest closed up sealing the Omega Core inside as it raised its head showing a single red eye glowing at the center of its face. Around it several parts of the floor opened up as small drones flew up with their weapons trained at the robot. The robot raised its shield up to block a number of attacks from the drones and used its blaster to fire back, destroying a few of them with every shot. As the drones continued firing the robot maneuvered itself to expertly dodge their attacks and fire back with precise accuracy. The group of people were impressed by the performance with a few even congratulating Wily on his exceptional work. As Wily basked in the admiration of his peers Dad began to notice subtle changes in the robot's behavior as it continued fighting. Over time its actions started to get more and more aggressive with each drone it destroyed. Until finally it had eliminated all threats and started to look around the room for more targets.

It then turned its gaze over to the observation room and stood facing the window labeling everyone on the other side of the glass as new targets. Dad realized too late what was happening and tried to warn everyone to get out but the robot already opened fire and shot through the safety glass, causing a small explosion in the room. As the smoke cleared a few people had sustained serious injuries while one or two people were lying motionless on the floor. Dad looked over to see Wily on the floor placing his hand on the side of his head which showed him bleeding a little. Dad then tried to stand up and started to hear another explosion nearby. He looked through the broken window to see the now empty testing room where all that was left of the door was a smoking heap of twisted metal.

Dad stepped out of the observation room to hear the sounds of blaster fire coming from another part of the facility. An emergency alarm began to sound as security tried to fight back against the robot with very little success. Eventually the robot made it outside and started firing its weapon at random targets causing explosions all around. As Dad made his way to the entrance he came across hallways covered in extensive damage with many people either hurt or worse. By the time he made it outside almost everything was covered in flames as the robot just continued firing its blaster like a crazy gunman. Until finally security forces were able to do enough damage to the robot to the point where it collapsed onto the ground in a twisted heap.

Before long firefighters and paramedics were on the scene to put out the fires still raging and patch up everyone who was hurt including Wily. Dad wandered around looking for anyone who needed help until he came across a sight he never thought he'd see. There next to what was left of his car was the boy lying face down motionless on the ground. Dad ran up to him to see if he was alright. When he turned him over and picked him up the boy showed no signs of breathing and had a large dark spot on his shirt in the area of his chest. Dad sat there unable to think as tears welled up in his eyes and started streaming down his face. As the paramedics took the boy away to the hospital Dad looked over at what remained of the robot. He walked up to see a faint glow coming from its chest.

Dad grabbed a nearby piece of metal and used it to pry the chest open and revealed the Omega Core still intact inside the robot. He looked around to make sure no one was looking and reached down to pluck the core out of the robot and quickly hide it in his coat pocket. By the time they made it to the hospital Dad informed Dr's Cain and Lalinde about what had happened earning looks of shock and sorrow from both of them. Dr. Lalinde was so filled with heartbreak over the loss of her son that she blamed Dad for what happened and decided to leave him. Dr. Cain tried to reason with her but Dad just told him to forget about it and let her go. He also said that she was right to blame him as he felt that what had happened was his fault.

He went on to say that he could've stopped the demonstration before it began but chose not to. And because of his inaction he ended up paying the ultimate price. Dr. Cain tried to comfort him but Dad continued to blame himself for his son's death and dedicated all his knowledge and skills into trying to make it right. Before Dr. Cain could ask him what he meant, Dad handed him the Omega Core and asked him to hold onto it for safekeeping as he was about to announce that the core had been destroyed along with the rogue robot. Dr. Cain looked at him with confusion and asked what Dad was going to do. Instead Dad simply asked Dr. Cain to trust him as he was going to need his help with something important.

Dr. Cain looked straight into Dad's eyes as if he somehow knew what Dad was about to do and simply smiled and nodded in understanding. Sometime later Dad made his way to where the remains of the robot were stored and secretly took them under the guise that he was transporting it to be melted down for scrap.

When in truth he took it back to his home to secretly work on it down in his basement workshop with Auto assisting. Dad worked at it for weeks without stopping to either eat or sleep as he continued to modify the robot down to the very last detail. This included redesigning the entire inner workings of the robot to allow it to hold all manner of artificial organs and adaptive circuits to allow the robot to actually grow and change overtime. He even applied a form of synthetic skin over the body and installed artificial hair into the robot's skalp. When it came to the facial features Dad carefully modeled it after the boy's face down to the smallest minute detail.

One night he called Dr. Cain, asking him to come over to his house to help with the final adjustments. Dr. Cain agreed and drove over bringing with him a small metal case. Auto welcomed him inside and helped him down the stairs into the basement. There he saw Dad standing over the robot lying on a metal table with a pair of goggles and a tool in his hand. Auto informed Dr. Cain about how Dad hadn't eaten or slept in days with which Dr. Cain told him that he already knew. When asked whether or not Dad had gone crazy Dr. Cain merely replied that if you lost your child like that and didn't go crazy, you weren't a living being. He then went over to Dad who straightened up to turn around and face him taking the goggles off. His hair color had lightened to the point that it looked pure white with his short beard now grown out to cover the top of his chest.

Dad then stepped aside to show Dr. Cain what he had been working on. Dr. Cain was surprised to see what appeared to be the boy lying on the table. Dad pointed out how it looked just like him even going so far as to call it a perfect replica. He then went on to explain that he would teach it everything he knew about the world and that he wouldn't lose him again. Dr. Cain asked him if he had told Dr. Lalinde about this. Dad admitted that she probably never wanted to talk to him again for awhile and that he also didn't have the heart to tell her. He also asked that Dr. Cain not tell her either. Which Dr. Cain reluctantly agreed to. Dad then asked him if he had brought what he asked to which Dr. Cain told him that he could never refuse a grieving father. He lifted up the case and opened it to show the Omega Core inside.

Dad took it out and walked over to the robot before Dr. Cain grabbed his wrist and stopped him from stepping any closer. He warned that the core was unpredictable and that he couldn't guarantee that this would work. Dad appreciated his words and proceeded to continue walking over to the robot and install the core into its chest. The core started to glow brightly, nearly blinding the both of them as it powered up and overloaded all the nearby machinery. When the light finally faded they looked to see the robot still lying motionless on the table. Dad was just about to give up hope when Dr. Cain pointed out to him that the robot's hand started to fidget. Dad walked over to the robot to see it slowly open its eyes blinking a few times to adjust to the light. It looked around before spotting him and to his surprise smiled and said hello to him. Dad stood in shock at what he was seeing as the robot sat up and looked itself over before spotting Dr. Cain and Auto to which he also said hello. Auto responded by fainting and falling onto the floor while Dr. Cain just awkwardly said hello back.

When the robot asked them who they were, Dad introduced Dr. Cain and told him that he was the one who created him. The robot looked at him and asked who he was. To which Dad said that his name was Xavier Light and that he was his son. After the story was done I could only sit there and ponder on everything Dad just told me. "And now Xavier, you finally know the full truth." Dad told me, placing a hand on my shoulder which I quickly pushed away and stood up to face him. "S-so what? I'm not just a robot, but also a copy of someone else?" I asked him, sounding slightly distraught. "Not exactly. Yes you were modeled after Thomas and Noelle's son but inside you are a completely different person with your own thoughts and feelings." Dr. Cain explained.

I tried to calm myself down but my emotions were getting the better of me and I could hardly think straight as I turned to look over at Dr. Cain. "Then how come I was never told about this or told the truth about Mo…about Dr. Lalinde?" I asked him. "Because we weren't sure how you would've reacted to the whole truth. Your core reacts directly to your emotional state of mind as proven by your own powers. The potential shock would've possibly caused a negative reaction to your physical body." Dr. Cain tried to explain to me. "Ok but what about Dr. Lalinde? Shouldn't she at least have had the right to know about this?" I asked. "As I said before I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth in case something worse happened." Dad told me. Dr. Lalinde then turned to face him again with an upset look on her face. "Nonetheless I agree with him. I deserved to know that my son was alive. And you had absolutely no right to keep that from me." She told him.

Dad stood up to face her at eye level. "I understand that Noelle but in truth he is not your son." Dad told her, infuriating her. "Not my son!? Thomas, look at him! How can you tell me that is not my son?" She yelled, gesturing her hand towards me. "Because it's not!" Dad finally shouted, causing all of us to flinch at the sudden change in his voice. He then let out a loud sigh and looked right at her. "You're right. I should've at least told you what I was trying to do." He told her as he looked over back to me. "Even if in the end it was all for nothing." He finished looking away from me. The sorrow in his voice felt like a sharp blade slowly being pushed into my chest.

Dr. Cain rolled his chair forward a little towards him. "Thomas, what are you saying?" He asked him. "You of all people should understand what I'm saying. After all, you were there to see it." He told him. "I allowed my arrogance and sorrow to dictate my actions and trick me into believing that I could accomplish the impossible. That I could actually bring him back… but in the end I completely failed." He finished. "Come now Thomas you mustn't think like that. After all, surely you couldn't have expected him to be a carbon copy." Dr. Cain tried to reason with him. Dad then suddenly raised his voice again as if he was finally breaking down. "You don't understand! He was meant to replace Xavier! But now everytime I look at him, it just reminds me that Xavier is gone! And there's nothing I can do to bring him back." He said sitting back down with his head in his hands with tears falling onto the floor.

Everyone stood silent for a moment until Dr. Lalinde walked over and sat down next to him. "Thomas, I was wrong to blame you back then. There's no way you could've known what was going to happen." She told him in a reassuring and remorseful tone. "And I know you would give absolutely anything to change it. And to be honest it's one of the reasons I fell in love with you to begin with." She added placing her arm around his shoulder. "But we can't change the past, the only thing we can do is try to move on and start life anew. And thanks to you we have a chance to do just that. The three of us. You, me, and most importantly… our son." She said looking over at my direction only to find that I was no longer there. She called out my name as Dr. Cain, Dad, and Auto all looked to see where I wasn't.

Meanwhile I was busy running at full speed and jumping through the air with my emotions swirling inside me like a raging cyclone. I leaped from rooftop to rooftop until I finally arrived at the junkyard where I first tested out my abilities with Douglas and Axel. I paced back and forth trying to regain control of my emotions and fight back the tears trying to break out of my eye sockets. Until I turned around to see my reflection in a car window. Last time I felt upset while looking at my reflection it was because I wasn't human. But now it was because I apparently wasn't even my own person.

Just a copy of someone else. And not even that, a "failed" copy which only enraged me more to the point I finally broke down and started smashing the car to pieces while shouting at the top of my lungs. Suddenly my vision started to fill with the words 'ACCESSING ARCHIVE DATA' being spelled out as my memory files started to appear and scroll around until it stopped on the memory containing my fight with Gutsman. The file underwent a deep data scan until the words 'EXTRACTING COMBAT DATA' and 'DUPLICATION IN PROGRESS' spelled out over my eyes. Suddenly my punches became stronger and stronger with each hit. Until eventually I could tear the metal with my bare hands like it was made out of tissue paper. I would've questioned what was happening but at the time I was too angry to even care.

Even after the car was destroyed I still had so much anger to vent that I went around and started destroying everything in sight. When smashing was no longer enough I changed my arm into my cannon and started firing shots at almost everything in sight. Suddenly my memory files came up again this time stopping on the memory containing my fight with Fireman. And once again the words 'EXTRACTING COMBAT DATA' and 'DUPLICATION IN PROGRESS' were spelled out and within seconds my shots changed from plasma to fireballs. Small explosions erupted everywhere I fired until I stopped looking at one last reflection in a dirty mirror.

I stood there scowling before changing my arm back and holding my hand out as if holding something. Suddenly the memory of my fight with Bomb Man was accessed and within the next few seconds a small bomb appeared into my hand for me to throw at the mirror triggering an explosion and completely destroying it along with what was left of the junkyard.

When there was nothing left I finally dropped to my knees and shouted out to the night sky above. I must've shouted for a good two or three minutes before falling onto my hands and finally breaking out into tears. I had never felt so low as I did at that moment. Nor did I feel as alone as I did. In one fell swoop my entire world had been turned upside down and then smashed into a million pieces. And the worst part is there was nobody I could turn to talk about this. Not my friends, not my so-called "Family". I was completely and utterly alone. Alone with so much sadness and anger with nowhere left to take it out on. I slowly started to lift my head up to look at the city sparkling in front of me. Through the remaining tears my eyes locked onto Light Industries tower and were glued there.

Suddenly it hit me, there was one place I could take my current emotions out on. Or more importantly someone. I stood up and glared at the tower as my transformation triggered, causing my armor to appear over my body. I may have been a poor copy, but I was still good enough to take down the man who helped ruin not only my life but the lives of both Dr. Lalinde and Dr. Light.

Meanwhile Dr. Wily was in the middle of searching for something furiously like his life depended on it. "There's just got to be more!" He shouted. "We've searched all over sir. There just aren't any more Robot Masters left." Eddie reported. "He's right, Doctor. We've combed the entire lab." Met added. Wily turned to them with a mix of shock and anger. "That can't be. There just has to be at least one robot master left." He said only for Eddie and Met to shake their heads nervously. Wily then walked away groaning and gripping his head in frustration. "But I need just one more robot master to help flush that little blue brat out. Otherwise all of my hard work will be for nothing!" He shouted.

Met looked at Wily with confusion. "What about the replica core you made? Isn't that enough?" He asked. "It's still just a small piece of the puzzle. In order to make my final plan a reality I still require the actual Omega Core." He explained. Suddenly the building's alarm went off with a loud noise. Wily, Met, and Eddie looked around in confusion. "Oh what now?" Wily asked. Met ran over to the console to access the building security cameras. Once the connection was made he gasped in fear. "Uh, doctor?" He called over. "What is it?" Wily asked him, walking over.

He glanced at the screen and saw what Met was freaking out over. On the screen was the main lobby at the entrance to the building. It looked a little more messy than usual with a large cloud of smoke and a large hole where the doors used to be. And walking through was me fully armored and looking none too happy. Eddie and Met were both shaking and each making a rattling noise. Wily on the other hand was the opposite of scared. In fact he was practically beaming with excitement. "Well now, ask and you shall receive." He commented as the camera view switched to me going into the elevator and going up.

As soon as the doors opened I walked out and looked around before walking down the hall. The few people that were there tried their best to avoid me for fear of their own lives. Looking back on it I don't blame them for being scared. After all, how would you react to seeing a heavily armed robot with a glare full of hate walking through the halls?

Unfortunately for one guy I stopped and turned to him which nearly caused him to wet himself. It probably didn't help when I grabbed him by his shirt collar and pulled him up to my face. "Where's Dr. Wily!?" I asked him only to get a whimper in response. "DR. WILY, WHERE IS HE!?" I shouted, throwing out the last of my patience as he quickly pointed the way to Wily's lab. I let go of him and walked towards the entrance to one of the labs. Inside Wily sat waiting in his swivel chair twiddling his thumbs with his back to the door with a contented smile on his face. Suddenly the door started to creak as the metal became twisted and dented inwards before falling to the floor with a loud slam.

He turned around slowly to see me standing in the doorway glaring daggers at him. "Oh it's open, please come in." He said beckoning with his hand for me to step into the lab. I took a few steps before stopping a few feet away from him. Just seeing the smug look on his face was enough to make me want to take him up to the roof and toss him down below. "You look tense my dear boy. Why not relax, make yourself at home. Eddie, offer our special guest some refreshment won't you?" He asked as Eddie stepped out of his hiding place and walked up to me with the top of his head opening up to show a small tray carrying a few glasses filled with water. One look from me was enough to make the little red robot quiver with fear. He looked back at Wily speaking with a small stutter in his voice. "I-I don't think he's thirsty D-Dr. Wily." He managed to say before retracting the tray and running off back to his hiding place.

I looked back at Wily who's amused expression remained unchanged. "A simple no thank you would have sufficed don't you think?" He asked me. "I'm not here to play games Wily. I'm here to bring you in." I told him. Wily let out a small chuckle in response. "And exactly what is it you're bringing me in for? As I'm sure you're well aware none of those rogue robots that have been attacking you have any actual connections to me or this company." He stated in a matter of fact tone of voice. "How about causing the deaths of several people including a boy named Xavier Light?" I asked him.

At first Wily seemed confused until he finally realized what I was talking about. "So he actually told you. I always knew Thomas wouldn't be able to ignore that bleeding heart of his. Course I fail to see what such a horrible tragedy had to do with me?" He said trying to play the innocent. "It was your project. That makes it your fault." I stated. "Hmm. When you put it like that I suppose I have a lot to answer for. You better take me in." Wily said, holding his hands out to me. "I'll do it without breaking you. Which is more than you deserve." I said walking up to him. Suddenly Wily shouted "NOW!" prompting Met to push a button activating a series of four pylons which popped out of the floor around me. Within a blink of an eye they started generating a square energy field around me.

I stood there for a brief moment before my anger flared up again and the memory of my fight with Elec-Man was accessed. A few seconds later sparks of electricity were starting to build up in my hands much to Wily's surprise. With my feet firmly planted I clenched my fists and unleashed a blast wave of electricity effectively destroying the energy field. Wily used his arms to shield himself from the sparks that flew everywhere. He lowered them slightly to see me still standing and glaring at him. "Was that supposed to trap me?" I asked him. He sat there shocked for a moment before grinning and chuckling again. "My dear boy, who said anything about trapping you?" He asked.

As if on cue one of the walls of the lab opened up to reveal a cubicle containing another robot. As it lit up the robot inside was revealed to have red and gray armor with a helmet that covered up their entire face. In one arm was a buster cannon that was almost identical to mine. Wrapped around their neck was a dark yellow scarf that trailed down to their waist. The thrumming sound of the robot powering up filled the lab as it raised its head looking at me through a visor where the only thing that shined through was a single glowing red eye.

I stood my ground expecting this to turn out like every other fight against one of Wily's robot masters. However, something about this robot was different. The way it was looking at me, how it stood, how silent it was. It was like looking at something out of a nightmare you had when you were little and managed to suppress it only to have it rear its head again years later. "What's wrong? You look as if you'd seen a ghost." Wily stated. Once I heard that I started to get this sinking feeling that I knew exactly what this robot was. Without anyone noticing Dr. Wily had secretly rebuilt the robot he had unleashed 6 years ago. It wasn't until its chest opened up that my body really went rigid. Located directly inside its chest was a small glowing orb colored in an almost crimson red. "Look familiar?" Wily asked me.

The color may have been different but there was no denying that what I was looking at was an exact copy of the Omega Core. "It should. After all, you helped to make it." Wily told me. He then went on to explain that it all started back with my fight with Elec-Man. During our first encounter he had managed to absorb a small portion of the energy from the shot I fired at him with my buster cannon. Unbeknownst to me at the time that energy signature had been recorded and sent back to Wily's lab for him to analyze. The only problem was that the only way for him to utilize it was to go over the original file the company had on the Omega Core. Of course he couldn't do that without drawing attention to himself.

Which was why he had Bomb Man steal from the city's mainframe so he could access the file that way. Once he had the necessary data he wasted no time in creating a prototype core. "Of course creating a perfect replica was certainly no easy task. I can't even begin to tell you how many failed attempts I had over a single week alone. Fortunately every failure brought interesting and rather surprising results." He then went on to add how despite Sayu's unexpected betrayal his most recent test was a resounding success. "And all thanks once again to you." He finished.

I looked over at him in confusion. "Still confused? Well it's rather simple really. When you destroyed Splash Woman or Sayu as she liked to call herself, the energy of the blast caused the prototype core inside her to catalyze and become the final result of what you see before you. Project Zero Mk2!" Wily told me, gesturing back to the robot. "The culmination of my life's work, reborn anew!" He shouted before going into a fit of laughter. Without any hesitation I turned back to try and punch Wily in the face. However the only thing my fist hit was the palm of the robot that stood between us. Before I knew it the robot quickly hit me with a headbutt and then kicked me in the stomach launching me across the lab. I sat up to see the robot standing there with its chest now closed.

Wily stood up behind it and smiled. "Impressive isn't it? To repeat my earlier statement, that machine you destroyed wasn't supposed to trap you. In reality it was meant to scan you. Or more accurately, your internal data which was then copied and uploaded into my own robot." Wily explained with a smug look on his face. "And now with your combat data fully integrated my creation has become the most powerful robot in the world!" He declared. "You may be an impressive fighting robot in your own right Mega-Man. But you will always pale in comparison to the original!" He told me as he turned to the robot. "Now then my… Proto-Man, BREAK HIM!" He ordered.

The robot then started to slowly walk over to me with its feet stomping heavily across the floor. I managed to get back on my feet and wasted no time throwing punches at the robot who just straightened back up and continued to keep coming as if my punches didn't even faze it. Until finally it used its cannon arm to smack me back through the doorway and into the hallway, crashing into the wall. I quickly got back up as the robot kept coming with Wily in the background just smiling and laughing as he watched. I staggered down the hall while generating a small bomb in my hand. Once I was far enough away I turned around and threw it at the robot resulting in a small explosion.

Back in his lab Wily was shook up by the explosion and immediately went to a nearby phone. While he had the utmost confidence that his robot would finally destroy me he felt that it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan. He grabbed the phone and started dialing. After a few moments a voice answered on the other line identifying themselves as the police department. "Yes, hello? Send help quickly! Mega-Man is attacking Light Industries!" He shouted, sounding scared.

As the smoke cleared a bit I looked down the hall hoping to see the robot destroyed. Instead I saw it still standing with a large white shield in its hand. It moved it aside enough for me to see its red eye under the visor. Suddenly my head felt like something was trying to burrow its way out of my skull while my vision started to get scrambled with my surroundings changing back and forth between the hallway and what appeared to be a flaming parking lot. I gripped my head trying to figure out what was happening until I turned my attention back to the robot who started to shift between red and gray to dark green all while still retaining the same glowing eye.

All the while the robot continued to walk slowly toward me. In desperation I started firing shots at him which he just continued to block with the shield. My vision shifted back and forth with each hit between the hallway and the parking lot until the robot got close enough to move his shield and blast me with his own buster cannon. The blast hit me square in the chest sending me flying down the hallway and through a few walls until I fell onto my back. As I lay there my vision continued to glitch out with nothing but white static filling it. Eventually everything went dark and the words 'SYSTEM REBOOTING' were spelled out. A few moments later my vision finally cleared up and I managed to stand back up feeling a pain in my chest.

I looked down and saw a scorched dented spot over the area where my core was. I looked through the hole to see the robot continuing to come after me and raise its arm to fire another shot. I quickly ducked my head, dodging the shot and ran off down another hallway. The robot continued to fire shots through the walls trying to hit me while I just kept running. Until finally I made it back to the elevator and hit the call button. The robot eventually managed to catch up to me and started firing at me from down the hall. I tried my best to block and fire back until the elevator doors finally opened. I wasted no time running inside and hitting the close door button. The robot started running towards the elevator just as the doors closed.

I leaned up against the wall trying to catch my breath only to feel the whole car shake. I looked to see the door being dented inward from the outside. Thinking on my feet I quickly looked up and spotted the emergency hatch above me. I quickly jumped up and pried it open with my hands just as the doors were starting to give way. I climbed out through the hatch as the robot made its way inside the elevator. He looked up at the open hatch and started firing through the ceiling nearly hitting me a couple times. I quickly grabbed a hold of the cables holding up the elevator and aimed my cannon at where they connected and fired a shot.

The cable snapped off sending both me and the elevator car speeding in two separate directions. As the elevator fell the robot climbed out onto the roof and looked up and down. It then looked around before grabbing ahold of the wall of the shaft scraping his hand against it until he latched onto some small electrical cables and hung there in the shaft. Meanwhile at the very top of the shaft I was hanging on for dear life by the detached cable. I looked down below until I heard a small crash at the bottom. I let out a small sigh of relief until I heard another clanging sound. To my shock and horror I spotted the robot speedily jumping from wall to wall heading right for me before bashing into me with his shield.

The impact caused both of us to crash right through the roof and fly over the edge with the two of us sliding down the side of the building. As we were about to slide over the final ledge the robot quickly drew his shield to use as an improvised hook while I quickly grabbed hold of his scarf whipping in the wind. After I fell the two of us hung there with the shield shifting a little under the weight. The robot then aimed his cannon down and started firing at me. I swung back and forth to try and dodge the shots which caused the shield to shift again coming close to dislodge itself. Looking at the shield and then down below one crazy idea popped into my head. Tightening my grip on the scarf I swung towards the building planting my feet against the side and giving a good tug shifting the shield again.

In my head I knew full well how crazy this idea was but despite that I tapped into my full strength and gave one good pull causing the shield to finally dislodge itself. As we fell the robot turned back at me trying once again to blast me. I quickly grabbed a hold of the cannon, throwing off his aim grappling as we fell further down. Eventually we fell directly through the concrete sidewalk and down into the building's basement area crashing through various pipes. When we finally stopped the two of us just lay there on our backs with steam and sparks flying everywhere. I managed to slowly sit up despite the damage my body had taken from the fall.

I stood myself up holding my shoulder as I started walking. I hadn't even taken 3 whole steps before being grabbed from behind by the still functioning robot and getting tossed aside hitting more pipes. Before I could even register what just happened the robot grabbed one of my legs and started swinging me back and forth like a chain smashing against one large pipe after the other and leaving a good sized dent in each one. After the 5th or 6th swing I tossed back onto the floor where the robot grabbed me by the throat and tried to stab me with his damaged cannon arm that was giving off sparks. I grabbed his arm with both hands struggling to stop it from getting too close but it ended up leaving a scorch mark on the area of my helmet just above my left eye.

I looked directly at his face to see his visor had been broken to reveal the one robotic red eye glowing at me with nothing but machinery around it. As I struggled against him I spotted out of the corner of my eye that the pipe I was held down against was a large gas pipe. Using the last ounce of strength I slowly directed his arm towards the surface of the pipe. I braced myself as the arm made contact with the pipe and within 2 seconds the pipe erupted into an explosion that spread throughout the entire area. Back up top the fire of the explosion erupted out of the large hole in the sidewalk scaring nearby passers-by. Then just as suddenly as they rose, the flames dispersed and everything went quiet.

After a few minutes something started to climb up through the smoke. Upon making it back to the surface I started to cough violently landing on my hands and knees. The damage to my body was made more severe with a piece of my armor missing around my right shoulder and my helmet cracked and colored a dark black. I looked back toward the hole expecting the robot to climb up after me. When he never did it was apparent that the explosion finally destroyed him. I stood up, finally catching my breath. In doing so it felt as if a large weight had been taken off my shoulders. The robot I had just faced was the same one that I had crossed paths with before or rather Xavier had crossed paths with before and this time I stood victorious. Knowing that it felt like I had avenged the death of a brother. Like in some way or another, the Xavier Light that was in me had finally been put to rest.

I on the other hand didn't get a chance to rest as a series of blinding spotlights flashed onto me. Next thing I knew I was surrounded by what seemed to be 40 to 50 police officers all wearing full body armor and aiming their weapons at me. Over a megaphone I could hear the familiar voice of Detective Stones telling me they had me surrounded and to surrender immediately. I was about to try and make a run for it when my legs suddenly decided to give out forcing me to fall face down on the ground. After that everything started to blur as the muffled sounds of boots came running towards me. From where I lay I saw police officers surround me and cock their guns at me.

I thought they were probably going to shoot me until someone started screaming at them to stand down and back off. The last thing I saw clearly was that of Detective Krantz kneeling down and looking at me with subtle remorse. "I'm sorry." She whispered to me before I finally lost consciousness.

Next time on Mega-Man: Robotic Hero!

Episode 13: Family Matters Part 2

This is it everyone! Only one episode left of season 1. And I just wanna say thank you to everyone that stuck around since the beginning and to all those newcomers that were willing to give this story a chance.

Just like the last chapter the only clue I'm giving on the identity of the next Villain will be one single question. And if you've been paying attention this'll probably be an easy one for you guys.

And here it is. Who was the first character to be pointed out in the beginning of episode 1?

As always those who answer correctly will receive special shoutouts in the season finale.

And now replies to reviews.

Theoldblood98: Well Proto-Man would've left a bigger impact in this story. Besides, Bass won't be showing up. At least not yet. Lol.

HEROS Central: Very close, but excellent show of Mega-Man knowledge.

Radwane Fouad: Also true but he won't show up till a later story down the road.

Cypony Warrior: Thanks. I try my best.

Redsterthegamer: While that is true in the games in most other forms of media Proto-Man was always more like an anti hero/friendly rival towards Mega-Man. Course personally I only ever saw Proto-Man as a villain thanks to watching the 80's cartoon when I was a little kid. Still a very close guess.

So until then this is Tardispilot297 saying… Allonsy!
