Year one ending. now posted. Please let me know if the second book should be separate or added onto this one.

The leaving feast the following night was a roller coaster of emotions for Rose. She was feeling a little nervous heading back to Kinsley's after their first fight. As the points came in Rose couldn't help but feel happy knowing that her house had won the house cup. Well until Dumbledore started handing out points to the "Gryffindor Heroes" thankfully Ron didn't get as many points as Hermione and Harry this meant that even with the added point Gryffindor only gained second place.

The cries of victory from the Slytherin table filled the halls and the banners that hung from the roof shone in green and silver.

The common room that night was full of Slytherins partying and celebrating the victory. For the first time all year the house seemed less divided. Malfoy still had his circle of friends with him but the rest of the house seemed to be chatting happily, though Rose doubted it would last.

After packing up the next morning and making sure all her belongings were accounted for, Rose went to breakfast. She was looking forward to torturing Ron on the long train ride home. At breakfast Rose confirmed with Harry he was okay with them sharing the train to which he said yes.

Getting onto the train was a nightmare with so many students boarding the train it took time to find where Harry and his friends were sitting. As soon as Rose entered the compartment Ron looked mad and started to complain to Harry. This was ignored by Rose, Daphne and Blaize who took one side of the compartment.

"You're not welcome here snakes" Ron retorted loudly seeing that Harry was showing no intention of kicking out the Slytherins.

"Well we are here for the entire ride Ronald" Rose responded struggling to contain her laughter.

Choosing to ignore Ron for the moment Rose turned to her friends.
"You have no problem sharing the compartment right?"

When both replied they were happy with the seating arrangement, Rose smiled and turned to Harry and Hermione.
"What about you two"

Harry said he was happy with it right away but Hermione was looking between the 5 others in the compartment warily before stating she didn't really mind.

As the train left the station Malfoy and his two goons showed up ready to antagonise Ron and Harry, upon seeing Rose and the other Slytherins his attention changed to them.

"The smell of blood traitors is strong in here today" Malfoy claimed glaring daggers at everyone in the compartment.

"Your blood purity shit ain't welcome here Malfoy" Blaize responded, he had been quite fed up with Malfoy.

"Just leave, you don't want to be embarrassed again, Malfoy" Rose added.

Malfoy looked like he was ready to argue and not wanting to deal with him Rose drew her wand, followed by Daphne, Blaize and Harry. Ron reluctantly added his wand after Harry but Rose doubted Malfoy feared that particular wand.

Huffing loudly Malfoy and his group left. Only once the door closed were wands stored. Once the weapons were stored Harry spoke up.

"Where is Timbur?"

"He is out delivering a letter" Rose raised her eyebrow a little trying to silently remind Harry who the letters were being sent to. This did not go unnoticed by Hermione who looked between Harry and Rose. The look on her face showed she was working out the key to a puzzle. Daphne, who did not miss a thing, looked up toward Hedwig where she was sleeping in a cage.

"Who is this beautiful owl? I'm sure i have seen it delivering mail to Rose here" this made Hermione look between Harry and Rose again but this time she looked surprised to know that they had been corresponding with letters.

"That's Hedwig Hagrid gave her to me for my birthday" Harry responded looking up at his owl.

"That's a beautiful name for a beautiful owl" Daphne commented.

Throughout the train ride Ron was unusually quiet; he seemed particularly put out that Harry and even Hermione were being friendly with the Slytherins. His look turned particularly sour when Harry, Rose and Blaize bought a nice amount of food from the trolley that passed.

Daphne had said no to snacks because her family had made her aware they were throwing her a feast to show they were happy she is home, this too made Ron scowl. Hermione refused sweets stating her parents would not approve.

Despite Ron's particular attitude problem the rest of the occupants were enjoying their time together. They played a few games of exploding snap and various other games. Rose felt a little conflicted enjoying herself knowing where it was Harry was returning but she didn't want Harry to feel down yet.

As the train approached London the train was becoming quite hectic again, everyone grabbing their cases and pets looking out of the windows to find their families. On the station Ron started to introduce Harry formally to his parents and to Ron's annoyance Harry pulled Rose into the conversation.

Mrs Weasley seemed surprised that Harry wanted to introduce a friend in Slytherin but one look at the two had her brain working in overdrive; she looked between the two several times before claiming their family needed to leave.

Daphne, who had been close by waiting to introduce sister to Rose since she had met her parents before, had caught the look Mrs Weasley had given the Potters and silently told Rose as much before introducing the Greengrass family to Rose.

Harry had said his goodbyes nearly as fast as the Weasleys and Rose had had to say goodbye really fast. Kingsley found Rose standing and talking to Astoria, who was Daphne's little sister. They were talking about how much Astoria wanted to attend Hogwarts.

Rose was surprised to see a female walking with Kingsley towards Rose. Mr Greengrass was the first to speak.
"Mr Shacklebolt nice to see you again and Marlene if I am not mistaken?"

This made Rose's head snap up and she was immediately interested in the conversation that was about to play out before them.

"It is me, yes but I would like for you not to tell people that I am around. You know I have been hiding a while." The lady named Marlene replied, looking around to see if anyone had heard the name called out.

At that moment a dark haired girl came running down the station and into the arms of the woman named Marlene.
"Mommy I can't find Harry. He was supposed to be here right?"

Before she could reply the girl saw Rose. She leapt forward and engulfed Rose into a hug.
"Cousin Rose It's true your here"

"Capella I told you to be discreet" Marlene scolded lightly looking at her daughter.

"Rose where is" At this point she stopped and looked at the Greengrass's who were standing quietly off to the side.

"We promise not to disclose any information provided here without permission" Mr Greengrass stated with a flick of his wand. This was a magically binding secret now and Rose knew from Kinsley that this was a big deal. It looked to satisfy Marlene too because she turned back to Rose.

"Where is your brother Rose" This statement made Mrs Greengrass gasp and look at Rose before exclaiming "DEAR MERLIN" loudly making people look over.

"Lorretta!" Mr Greengrass scolded his wife lightly.

"Sorry love but you cannot deny the information provided is shocking."

Rose, seeing this moment too speak, looked up at Marlene.
"Erm, his Uncle seemed adamant about leaving quickly and they have already left. No one knows I'm alive so I live with Mr Kingsley here."

"I was hoping to speak to him too. We will have to arrange something else then. I remember Petunia I hate to ask but does she treat Harry well?"

Rose looked at Marleen and no words needed to be said.
"I will be in touch please tell no one you met me or Capella. Oh and don't believe what was said about my husband he is innocent"

Before Rose could ask who she was referring to, Marlene had taken Capella's hand and disappeared on the spot. That in itself was a little odd but what shocked Rose the most was Dumbledore's arrival moments later.

"I missed her didn't I?" Was all he said before sighing and apparating away just as Marlene had moments before.

"Dad, what's going on here?" A curious Astoria responded, it was clear she had not quite followed the situation.

"We will talk about it when we are at the manor dear" Was his response. Looking around the now emptying station he added.
"We should head off. It would look odd to stick around too long. I invite you and miss Rose over for dinner this coming weekend, he addressed Kingsley, this was how things like thighs were done after all.

"We would be honoured to accept such a request Lord Greengrass" Kingsley responded as if this was a completely normal occurrence.

With the business settled Daphne said goodbye to Rose and went over to her mothers side, Astoria being a Daddy's girl went to his side, before the family apparated away. Now Kingsley and Rose were alone Kingsley grabbed Rose's belongings.

"I brought the car today so we will be driving home. I daresay you have a few questions now."

"Just a few yes." This made Kingsley laugh a little, he put his arm around Rose like he would have before the argument.

"Let's go home."

As Kingsley loaded up the car Rose hopped into the train station's Starbucks. A few moments later Rose got into the car with two Iced drinks.
"I missed these while I was in Hogwarts"

Kingsley, who had wondered where Rose went, started laughing at his pseudo daughter's addiction to the caffeinated drinks. He accepted the drink before looking at Rose a little confused.

"You took Muggle money to Hogwarts?"

"I had it in my purse. You know I never leave home without it." Rose replied, drinking her drink and shivering slightly.

"How has work been? It felt a little odd not asking you how your day went when you came home."

"We haven't been too busy at the moment, just the usual maintaining the peace. Had to raid Borgin and Burkes again, that's always a fun time" Kingsley replied as he pulled out of kings cross into the busy streets of London.

"So you sent a letter to Marlene" It was not a question and the look on his face showed as much.

"I did, yes I found her name in records concerning my parents. I was hoping she would help me out with this situation me and Harry are in."

"I assumed that would be the case. I suppose I should tell you a bit about her. Marlene is Sirius blacks wife. The girl Capella is his daughter or I assume since she is named after a star."

At this Rose seemed very interested; she had not found out much about Marlene and was soaking up the information.

"Marlene went missing soon after Sirius Black was arrested. She swore he was innocent but no one would listen to her and so she disappeared. Albus believed she was hiding in the us. I guess she came back upon reading your letter."

"How did she know my mom and dad?" Rose asked when Kingsley stopped talking to check the GPS"

"Well her and your mom were always close and since she was close to your mom she got close to Sirius who was close to your dad. Everyone who saw Marlene and Sirius knew they would get together. Of course Sirius is now spending life in prison for the murder of his friend and 13 muggles. I am sure you found that out too right?"

"I did, yes. Was it proven that he did it?"

"Well not in a courtroom but he was found on the scene laughing like a maniac."

"So he never got a trial, why not?" Kingsley took a moment to reply; he looked like he was deciding how much to say.

"It was a dark time and everyday there were attacks. On the day he was caught we had news that Voldemort had been defeated and the ministry just wanted to clean up the situation and put it in the past."

"Did anyone ask Marlene why she believed he was innocent?"

"I don't know if anyone from the ministry did but Albus did and that was good enough for most people." Kingsley said in a manner that meant he too thought it was enough too.

For now the matter was dropped and they drove for a while in silence. After sometime Rose spoke up again.

"You're an Auror so you deal with crimes right? Will you look into Harry's living situation to make sure the muggles treat him right? He mentioned to me that they don't treat him well."

"I will look into it but I really don't know how much I can do, Albus would not be happy if he found out I went there. But I will look into it for you."

This seemed to satisfy Rose and once more silence fell in the car, but it was a comfortable silence. At some point Rose fell asleep and was woken up as the car pulled into the drive of their home.

Despite the situation not being what she wanted Rose felt happy to be home. Her room left the exact way that she had left it felt like home. Sat on the bed lay a new broom wrapped in wrapping paper, the shape of the present was a dead giveaway.

"We got sent by Nimbus. Your family owns shares in the company and they want you to test the nimbus 2001. It goes on sale later this year" Kingsley said as Rose unwrapped the beautiful black broom.

"Wait, they just sent me this for free?" Rose asked, stunned.

"I informed the goblins that you were aware of your heritage and they informed me that they had two of these one for each of you but unfortunately Albus won't let Harry have his while he is with the muggles."

"Wow that is amazing" Rose commented, placing the broom on her broom stand and putting the cleansweep in her cupboard.

"We have tickets to some Tornado games this summer right?" Rose asked as she started putting clothes away. The comment made Kingsley laugh but he pulled from his cloak a couple of ticket stamps.

"Yay you're the best King" Rose stated. It was then Rose noticed the empty owl cage.

"Say king? Did a man named Lupin get in touch?"

"You really did a lot of fact finding didn't you?" Was his response before shaking his head.
"I have not heard from him in a long time, I am sorry to say.

"Oh well I sent Timbur to him too" Rose commented Idly placing the Bird cage in the storage in the hallway.

"That would explain Timbur's absence; he will no doubt struggle to find Lupin he likes to hide away from society."

"Timbur will find him I am sure" Rose responded before heading into the kitchen area to start cooking.

"Sounds like we may have a busy summer, contact anyone else I should know about?"

"Erm nope I don't think so.. Not yet" Rose replied, laughing slightly.
