A/N: Sorry for the delay today in getting the chapter up! To answer some of your reviews, the ghost's identity will be revealed, but to clarify, it is not Hwang Jini's ghost, and Ga Eul is not the ghost's reincarnation.

Enjoy! :)

Yi Jung safely guided Ga Eul towards the basement. To be honest this wasn't the best idea, Yi Jung thought to himself. The place was pitch black with only a light in the center pulsing. As he felt Ga Eul's grasp tighten on his arm, Yi Jung led her towards the light.

"Let's stay here for a while."

"Do you really think this is a prank, Sunbae?"

Yi Jung looked down at a now trembling Ga Eul and was hoping it was all a prank. Taking a deep breath, Yi Jung tried again to stay calm as he patted Ga Eul's hand.

"Yes, I think it is just a prank. Don't worry, I am right here." Yi Jung's soothing voice helped Ga Eul calm down a little. She looked up to him while he searched around as if keeping guard to protect her.

'Why must it always be like this? Just when I try to forget him and leave, I end up running back to him. He must really be annoyed with me.' With that thought, Ga Eul let go of Yi Jung's arm and moved a step away. Yi Jung instantly missed the warmth and sent a curious look her way.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. If it is just a prank, there is no reason to be afraid. Sorry to be bothering you again, this is all my fault. I will make sure not to annoy you again after all this is over."

"Ga Eul, I never said you annoyed me. I wanted to help you, isn't that what friends do–"

"Will we always be friends? Or are we even friends, Sunbae?" Ga Eul bit back her tongue. She didn't know why she had said what she did; maybe the fact that they had never had closure was really starting to get to her. She did her best to stay away and have the least interactions possible. Yi Jung had made it clear he was still in love with teacher Eun Jae and yet again here she was only a few steps away from holding his arm.

'What is wrong with you Ga Eul?' As Ga Eul mentally cursed herself, she missed Yi Jung looking her way with his eyebrows furrowed.

"Ga Eul, what do you exactly think we are?"

"Nothing. Forget what I said." Ga Eul avoided looking at Yi Jung as she replied, but before she could step away Yi Jung grabbed her wrist, turning her around. As he held her shoulders, Ga Eul slowly lifted her eyes and gazed into Yi Jung's brown orbs until something caught her eyes.

"Ga Eul. I-"

"Sunbae, there is someone here!" Ga Eul screamed as she witnessed a shadow sweep behind Yi Jung.

"Where?" Yi Jung looked into the direction Ga Eul pointed and saw a white figure standing a few feet away from them. A gray outline gave the figure shape, but the face was unclear.

"Hey, who is there?" Without responding, the figure ran away. Yi Jung immediately ran after it, leaving Ga Eul behind alone in the center where only the dark surrounded her.

"Yi Jung Sunbae! Yi Jung Sunbae!" Ga Eul's voice echoed in the room. With adrenaline rushing throughout her body, Ga Eul looked around in an attempt to see a glimpse of Yi Jung.

Whoooosh

A gust of wind hit Ga Eul's back causing her to lose balance while knocking down some objects with her; she fell face down on the floor with her hand landing on a canvas.

"I promise I will be back. Just wait for me here, my love." The girl gazed into her lover's eyes, still doubtful of his words. She wanted to believe him, but reality presented otherwise.

"I am not sure if we should be together anymore. You are the heir to the throne, and I am just a farmer's daughter."

"I do not care about all that. All I know is I love you a lot. When I am back from the battle in three days, I will come to see you first. If you are here, I will know you love me too."

"You are my everything."

"I love you."

"I love you too, my love."

The couple shared a hug on top of the hill where the sunset added a glow to their love. The cherry blossom trees hovered over them as the wind brushed their shoulders. The girl moved back with a smile on her lips, pulling out a canvas from her bag. The canvas captured the hill they both met on with both looking into each other's eyes holding hands.

"I painted this for you, a token of my love for you." The man's smile grew, and he gave the girl another hug.

"Master, where would you like me to put this painting?" A guard asked as the man walked into the palace.

"Please place it in my sleeping room, and be careful. That painting is precious to me." With a head nod, the guard made his way to the prince's room. Turning around, the prince was met with the eyes of the king.

"My king." The prince bowed to his father, but there was no sign of joy on his face.

"You are coming back from seeing the girl, aren't you?" The prince stood up and furrowed his eyes.

"She has a name, father. Yes, I did meet her."

"You know she is just trying to get to your throne. People like her use love as a step up to a better life."

"Father, I will not stand here and listen to you talk about the girl I love like this. I need to prepare to go to battle." The prince walked past his father only to stop in his tracks as he heard his father respond.

"She doesn't love you and never will. I just fear you will be left heartbroken once the truth is out." Ignoring the words from his father, the prince clenched his jaw and walked away.

The girl walked up the hill carrying a big smile as her lover was to return tomorrow. Recalling the memories they had made and how much he meant to her, she missed a figure following up behind her. As she was lost in thought, suddenly she felt an immense sharp pain in her back. As the pointy object was pulled out of her back, she slowly turned around to face the figure only to be stabbed again in her stomach. Falling to the ground, the figure watched as her weak body rolled down the hill.

"Bury her where she fell. I want her soul to always feel the pain of being so close to a goal and yet far away." A group of men ran down the hill to dispose of the body that was now laid on the ground lifeless.

The next day, the prince headed towards the hill with a big smile printed on his face. He had been ordered to come to the palace upon his return, but he had a promise to fulfill. Walking up the hill, the prince waited to see the beat of his heart in front of him. Sunrise turned into sunset, and with it the prince's smile lowered. Darkness surrounded him, and he found it pointless to wait. He headed back to the palace with his head held low. Making no attempt to speak to anyone, he made his way to his sleeping room. Instantly, a painting caught his eye.

"I told you she didn't love you. All she did was fake. She came to me wanting the crown upon your arrival. When I refused, she left the village with someone else."

The prince turned around, facing the king with a sad look.

"I warned you. She never loved you." With those words echoing throughout the room, the king walked away. The prince grabbed the painting and tightened his fists around the edges as anger overtook his body.

"You lied to me. You promised you will come today. You said you loved me." The prince snapped the painting in half and tossed the two pieces away.

"Soulmates really don't exist."

"NO!" Ga Eul yelled as she rose to her feet.

"Ga Eul! Ga Eul! What's wrong? Are you okay?"
