Yay for chapter 6! Apologizes for its shortness and the delay. Thank you for reading, reviews much appreciated. Poor Greg, can he escape his team from wanting to baby him? 😂

Parker was released after only a couple hours later. Under strict orders to not exert himself. Especially with the discovery of his pregnancy. Now that his secret was out, he wasn't sure where that left him as far as his job was concerned. They would probably still allow him to go out on calls, but not at the forefront of the action like he usually was.

"Gave us quite a scare, there. Why didn't you say anything before?"

It was at this time Parker now regarded Ed's queries as crossing the line. Before, it was simply seen as innocent concern, however, this was amped beyond comfortable territory.

"You're not my mother, Ed. I don't hafta report every minute, personal moment in my life"

Subsequently slamming his eyes shut. Fleeting thoughts that perhaps he too, had crossed that equivocal line.

"Ed, I'm s-"

"No, no. You're right. I mean, this line of work poses dangers to pregnant agents. But who am I to tell ya how to run your life?"

And with that, Ed departed for the squad room. Parker let out a deep, agitated sigh. Perhaps the hormones were now driving his reactions to certain things, be that as it may. He had to afford himself some sort of backbone when it came to too many personal questions. But, then there was that other half, conflicted. Of course he loved his child and could never fathom senselessly putting her at the forefront of danger.

Parker pressed his lips together momentarily as a dull pain began radiating throughout his abdomen before ebbing off. The tender bruising exacerbated by the climbing weight of his pregnancy. Still, he wouldn't trade it for all the riches in the world. The fact both came away from such a traumatic incident, relatively unscathed, already made him feel like a millionaire.

As the weeks turned into months, Greg was now nearing the end of his second trimester. And as intuition had dictated from the start, he was, in fact, expecting a baby girl. The scans and everything were perfect. This was especially shocking to the physician overseeing him. With advanced paternal age, his pregnancy was cautioned as being something of a high risk.

Parker felt a lively tiny foot lash out on his left side. Wincing slightly before an unconscious chuckle escapes him. Apparently she hadn't gotten the memo her daddy was considered ancient by medical standards. Work relations with his team, namely Ed, had relatively returned as they were. Only this time, with a heightened sense for Parker's surroundings, it was as if they were readying themselves to cocoon him in bubble wrap.

Spike catches his superior in the hall. Eyeing the paper cup in his hand. A corner of his mouth breaking into a partial grin.

"Keep drinkin' that 'an she'll come out all twitchy"

The young tactical technician jested. Parker snorted inadvertently, followed by a light shake of his head.

"Don't get your fettuccine in a bunch, Spike. It's hot chocolate"
