Chapter 54: The Final Fallout

Mandy and Maylene were running to the source of the explosion, both in their Kineceleran forms. Rex and Blossom were flying over to scene as the KND branch at Mt. Blackhead all sprang into action. Everyone wanted to know, what the hell just happened?
"Maylene, do you sense your father?" Mandy said looking around.
Maylene returned to her human form before fiddling with her watch and finding Saki's signal before sensing in that direction. The skies above would have a C.O.O.L.B.U.S. being piloted by J.P. with Jessica and Craig's parents on board. Jessica had gotten a bad omen seeing the explosion…and that was all the convincing J.P. needed to fly them out.
"Gao find them, yet?" J.P. asked.
"He's on their trail. Seems we're not the only ones after him." Jessica said as she saw in the lotus position with her eyes closed. "Found them. Bring us down for a landing!"
They came down to find Mandy and Maylene in the area. Gao cawed as he came across Saki…who was smoking and still transformed. Mandy returned to her human form as she ran up.
"Saki!" Mandy said as Saki uncurled from his ball form before involuntarily returning to his human form. "Oh shit."
Craig, Kelsey, and Shar were all gasping for air…bruised but alive. Saki had clear injuries as Mandy got out her phone to call for backup. Saki was clinging onto consciousness as he looked around unable to move.
"Mandy…" Saki said with a cough, reaching for brush her face his hand. "Don't worry…I'm still here."
[Music Ends]
"What happened?" Nicole said helping her and Kelsey up.
"Rendo Nexus…they hid explosives in the Infected Zone. Radioactivate material was found…" Shar said panting.
"We should get out of here." Saki said before pointing to the about the Fusion Monsters spawning. "The fallout's ruptured the Twisted Forest…we need to get out of here."
Everyone piled onto the ship before Mandy took over piloting as she got on the communication to call KND staff at Mt. Blackhead to prepare medical care. Once they landed, Saki was rushed to the medical ward on the stretcher, given he passed out as the others followed along.
"Electrical burns, a bit of Fusion Matter burns, and blunt force trauma. Honestly, if not for the Fusion Matter immunity he's been building up over the years, he and his comrades would have affected by radiation poisoning." One of the KND doctors' said. "We'll get him patched up. As for his teammates, nothing some bandages and a hot drink can't fix."
"I'm just glad you're all right." Duane said ruffling Craig's hair.
"Mission didn't go so far…I hate to say it, but Rendo Nexus got the jump on us." Craig said bitterly. "And the damage is-"
"Far worse than you can imagine."
In walked Blossom and Rex, who both looked rather solemn.
"The good news is that the explosion did damage of a lot of materials that RN stashed there given the wreckage. From my estimates, RN was dealt a major blow in funds and materials…seeing this, it's really likely someone triggered the SDM protocol remotely as an insult to RN and to us." Blossom remarked.
"So, we won?" Kelsey asked trying to be hopefully.
[Cues: Outlast Official Soundtrack – Reveal]
"No, there are RN bases out there…the environment got wrecked again…and Fusion Monsters are returning all over the Wilds." Rex said sourly. "Undoing a lot of the work of the Fusion Wars."
"I'm going to get a ship and hunt those sons of…"
"No, you won't, young lady." Mandy said in a firm tone.
Maylene wanted to protest, but Blossom cleared her throat to get their attention.
"It would be unwise for you to leave because The Wilds wasn't the only place to suffer a detonation. One was near Joshinari's turf, and another in Japan." Blossom said. "Fusion Monsters are resurging."
Rex got a blip on his phone and looked it at before putting it back in his pocket.
"I got an update from the President. Seems WNN is all over this like flies…the media firestorm alone is going to keep RN away." Rex said with a bit of relief. "I'd say we could ready a search team, but it's pretty late."
"It's near midnight…and it's a school night." Nicole said as Craig sighed.
"You all go home…you've completed your mission…and at the least, RN lost a major leg tonight." Rex remarked.

The strike team could only seat with varying emotions about the information they had been told from Dr. Chaldene. It was Ryker who had been eerily stoic about the whole thing. After the doctor completed her tasks, she had instructed them to return to the first universe in the Parts Unknown chain where a secret base of the doctor's.
"You hid it in the same apartment building Rei has to live in?" Kaze asked.
"Used to. I did interfere with this universe to cause her to be moved to better conditions." Dr. Chaldene said using her tendrils to plug into the console. "Now, I get my body back."
[Cues: M83 - Solitude (Tiktok Version)]
The sphere glowed before dimming and gently landing on a nearby table. A pod opened up revealing a young pale woman with a thin and angular face, a slim figure, and dark brown hair. She wore a black and white plugsuit as her eyes opened to reveal hazel spheres. She stepped out about to say something only to get backhanded onto by Ryker, who's face was no longer stoic. It was twisted into anger as he grabbed by the collar.
"So, when were you going to explain why you sent out a SDM signal?" Ryker remarked.
"How did you-Oh right, your bothersome A.I." Dr. Chaldene said. "Yes, I might have launched that….and it caused a nuclear disaster on Zen Kuro."
Ryker was ready to hit her again.
"Rendo Nexus didn't just pay me to research and make weapons…no, they also paid me to find a way to stop you. I suppose I did succeed after all while managing to stab Rendo Nexus in the back. You would not have found the way to RN HQ using the Part Unknown chain…it was designed to be a trap…but I improvised when you showed up early. You kill me, and you won't have the information you need to save your planet or your family there." Dr. Chaldene said with a bit of smugness.
"Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?" Ryker said slamming her against a wall.
"I'm talking to the man who will heed to my orders if you want to return home to a planet he can save and a family still breathing." Dr. Chaldene sneered. "My SDM order already torched the other verses you would have visited had you went past the Metroid one. So, unless you want to risk killing me with no information for you to have, go ahead."
He released her as she dusted herself.
"Now, about my demands. I want a pardon from both Zen Kuro…and the Order of Reality along with my bounty frozen. Don't bullshit me…I know you can get me both. Once I have that, you'll have your information. Time is ticking…and you can only be my bitch for so long." Dr. Chaldene said as Ryker glared at her.
"You planned this." Jasper said with a dark look.
"I did. I am a neutral…you think I want Rendo Nexus in charge…no, I just used them…like I'm using you." Dr. Chaldene plainly.
"Must be a lonely existence…constantly burning bridges. That self-serving behavior can only last you so long." Wilhamena snarked as Dr. Chaldene was lighting up a cigarette to smoke as she got on a coat.
Ryker got off the phone and turned to the doctor.
"You got your pardon and your bounty frozen." Ryker said snatching the cigarette out of her mouth and flicking it back at her head.

The doctor rolled her eyes before keying a command on her console as two hidden panels opened up. One that had was a door…the other revealed a hard drive. Ryker checked the data on using his BlackTab to make sure in was valid.
"It's everything you'll need." Dr. Chaldene said going through the doorway only for Ryker to grab her shoulder.
"I hope making me your bitch for a few moments was worth it." Ryker said darkly before she walked off into the dark hall. "We're going…"
Ryker, Jasper, Wilhamena, and Kaze all left in silence on the ship, but the three noticed Ryker's smirking face.
"Why are you so happy?" Wilhamena asked.
"I'm a hero. That is true, but she forgot that I'm an anti-hero." Ryker said chuckling. "And that hard drive was still connected to her system…so I had LISA plant a virus. And I made sure to give Chaldene a pat on the back and a good send-off."
He took to the controls as his warper energy glowed around him and the ship. He told his crewmates to hang on before activating the hyperspace booster jettisoning them ahead and out of this universe emitting a shockwave. Back on the planet, Dr. Chaldene was making her leave now that Ryker was gone only to have put her system stalling.
"What the hell-"
Her screen lit with a showing of Ryker's face.
"By the time, you see this. I already left and you will no longer exist."
She felt it…the burning as her coat bursts into flames which spread onto her. She ripped the coat off to see the remnants of an exploding tag…one custom made for warper energy and about to blow.
"Well I guess that's checkmate. Well played asshole."

[Rendo Nexus HQ, Unknown Universe]
Kotetsu was looking upon the fallout with his face twisted into one of anger. Gendo was not much better in that regard either. The clones, mooks, and all those under them were too afraid to be near them given how angry they were.
"Number 74, report." Kotetsu said with a scowl.
"It seems our SDM protocol was trigger blowing up several of our secondary headquarters in the Neo Kuro Universe, most of the Parts Unknown chain, and several other bases across the stars. It gets worse…it seems Dr. Chaldene has snitched to the Order of Reality in exchange for a pardon and her bounty being frozen. She's exposed most of my operations…including the X Parasite experimentation."
Kotetsu's and Gendo's ki flowed around them as the Asuka clone stepped back.
"We've been stripped of status as a PMC and we're declared as a terrorist organization."
"And what of the stolen money?" Gendo asked.
"Nearly 60% our funds was stolen by Dr. Chaldene….who also blew the whistle on our cheating several governments of taxes."
"And what of the doctor?" Kotetsu asked.
"She's dead." A Shinji clone remarked. "Well deader than that…she was erased from existence."
"That's good, we can get our mon-What's with that look, boy?" Gendo said as the Shinji clone just sighed.
"Her accounts were raided before even the Order could acquisition it. From our estimates, they only managed to get 5% percent of-ACK!"
Gendo lift his own arm using telekinesis to choke the clone.
"Who stole it?" Gendo snarled.
"We don't know…" The clone said as he struggled to breathe. "The universe that she was erased in was also destroyed we can't access the warp gate records."
Gendo made sure he was flung into a wall.
"Fuck it. I guess Neo Kuro is a bust, send out orders to any remaining agents on or near to fall back except the Elvillatrix." Kotetsu said as Gendo raised an eyebrow. "Oh, he was an unstable wild card. May as well cut him loose…to do what he wants. A final parting shot."
Kotetsu came down the steps to the floor where his soldiers looked worried before he cleared his throat.
"Soldiers, do not let setback worry you. On the bright side of things, this means that Ryker Blackthorn is out of the running to being a problem to us. This is one less ally our enemies can rely on. Especially, Desmond. The little bastard is probably not going to like that he's all on his own. Especially with what I have planned." Kotetsu said confidently. "I always prepare for the worse…but I will admit I was surprised that Dr. Charlene had the means to steal from a good chunk of our offshore accounts. Thankfully, I have the Blackwater accounts that should restore us to about 70% of our budget. Pay cuts will be made, and we'll have to accelerate our plans. About time we deal with those meddlesome guardians. And seeing that Joshinari is also going to be out of running for potential enemies…we go after Bishops and Cephron."
He got cheers.
"What about the Loveless clan?" Number 74 asked.
"They're neutral enough to not get involved. Besides with One Piece in it's final saga, they're pretty busy right now." Kotetsu remarked.
"And about your old mistress?" Number 74 inquired. "And there's Spicer…"
"We have a team after her. And I've been looking Spicer. Seems he's rumored some long lost off-shoot from Cephron and the Naokos. If this rumor is true, then Cephron can't be allowed to get to Spicer. As for the Naoko, those sneaky roaches are a hard one to seek out. Thankfully, I managed to get an associate of theirs to cough up some information in exchange that I don't reveal some unfortunate information. I want a strike team arranged to infiltrate and gather intel."
He made a motion for Gendo and Number 74 to follow him into the deeper levels of the headquarters.
"Gendo, I've looked over your suggestions for who to send after Bishops. If we are going to put them down, I need heavier hitters. Thankfully, I got something a bit special." Kotetsu said before opening a locked door to reveal a room.
Duplicates of Metallix the robotic nightmare hog, E-121 Phis, Gemerls, Terminators, and Gammas were lined up suspended in tubes.
"I've been working on modifying them, and I got a group special made for Bishop and his friends to face." Kotetsu said showing them both two box. "This is Metallica Adam…and Metallica Lilith."
"You mixed the first two angels with duplicates of Metallix." Gendo said, impressed. "I assume you put the angels in lesser robots."
"The Gizoid is not to be underestimated. They are just as deadly." Kotetsu said before keying a command to launch the seventeen bots. "Their orders are to see the elimination of not just Bishops and his team…but also what those teammates hold most dear. I give them the determination of Michael Myers and the Terminator. They're not stopping no matter what."
"And of the Cephrons."
"I sent two dozen Terminators being led by a Metallix with others to ensure their elimination. They are only to retreat if they make to Spicer's turf. If they are there, they're unlikely to leave. I didn't need to send bots for the guardians…oh no…there's a certain Izuku who wants to spread his apotheosis to the multiverse. I don't think the dumb bastard will get far but he'll be a nice distraction while we plan out our actual attack-"
The computer activated on it's ejecting a dozen pods of bots out, interrupting them. Kotetsu looked towards the computer screen.
"Seems I neglected to think the Elvillatrix still had access to the servers. Let's fix that." He said plainly.
"What about the bots? Shall we stop them?" Number 74 asked.
"Nah. They can be replaced…call it his severance package."
(A/N: Probably the second to last time I'll be doing build up for DSX64215's fic from this fic in particular. Anime Confessions will probably have a lot of catching up to do. However, yes, this fic is going to end soon…and the final fight is on the horizon. As for Our Anti-Hero Academia, yes I do instead for Izuku from the fic Apotheosis to make an appearance there. That will get ugly, as ugly as the mess RN left behind.)
