The red-haired woman took Lin Ye and Nian to a different dessert shop. It didn't mean that they left the food that they ordered though. He paid for them and brought them with them to the new store that was in an alley of all places.
Although Lin Ye wasn't sure why the waitress gave him her number, he still took it with a confused smile and thank you, Causing the waitress to go red as a tomato, though Lin Ye didn't know why, he didn't bother to think about it now, however it did earn him a glare from Nian.
Did he do something wrong?
He didn't have time to think about it further as they were led to a dessert store set up in an alleyway. Although this was quite an odd place to open a store, the people in the store didn't seem to mind it. They just ordered their dessert and carried on with their day.
Lateran's really did love their dessert stores.
The mysterious person entered the store without a word. Lin ye sighed and ushered Nian, who was slowly savouring her sundae, into the store.
Lin Ye spotted the woman sitting at a table far in the corner of the room. Seeing this, Lin Ye and Nian approached her.
Together, they sat on the opposite side of the table and placed their food on it.
The atmosphere around them suddenly turned tense as Lin Ye stared at the red-haired Liberi. Just as Lin ye was about to begin the conversation, a loud bang interrupted him. Both the woman and he looked to the side to see Nian who slammed her palm onto the table. Lin Ye also noticed that the sundae that they had ordered was now gone.
Nian gazed into his eyes with a smile.
"Gege!" She cried enthusiastically, "Do you have more of that chocolate with you?! I want more! More!" She shook his sleeve a bit with enthusiasm.
Lin Ye fell silent for a moment before a quiet laugh slipped through his lips.
"Yeah, I have some more," He replied. Lin Ye raised his hand, "Order here!"
A waiter came to the table and, like before, Lin Ye gave a chocolate bar and asked them to make a sundae out of it. Although confused, the Sankta nodded and went to give the chocolate to the confectioner.
while this was all happening. The new girl stared at everything Lin Ye was doing and thought everything about this man was… strange.
It wasn't like he was outlandish or out of place. He looked and acted like a normal person.
That was what made him so strange. Although he went and did what anyone would do when talking to people, something about him made anyone that he talked to feel calm. At ease.
Safe.
Even the waiter seemed to be enjoying his company with him although he was just taking his order.
After sending the waiter away, Lin Ye looked back at the flame-haired girl. He smiled and quietly laughed at what just happened.
"Sorry about that," He smiled, "Nian has a monstrous appetite."
"Hey!" Nian sounded offended as she glared and pouted at him, "I'm just hungry, that's all!"
Lin ye laughed loudly, earning him a light punch on his shoulder from Nian. This didn't stop him from laughing further though. Even Nian also laughed alongside him.
"You seemed to be enjoying yourself." The girl stated as she stared at them, "Is this a vacation to you?"
Lin Ye and Nian stared at the girl as if they just noticed her presence. Being caught, Lin Ye coughed into his fist to get more serious now.
"Sorry about that," He chuckled, "Forgot you were there for a second."
Nian nodded.
This only frustrated and ticked her off even more.
"Do you even care for Mostima?" She sneered with a glare.
This got a reaction from him.
The small smile that he always had on his face instantly disappeared and was replaced with a blank expression. This intrigued her. With her attention on Lin Ye, she didn't realise that Nian, just a second ago, was about to jump at her with a murderous glare. However, she stopped when a hand grabbed her thigh, under the table. Even without looking, she knew whose hand it was, so she just sighed and relaxed her shoulders on the chair.
"I see," Lin Ye leaned back on his seat, "So you're the one who called me about Mostima."
Before they could continue with their discussion, three cups of tea were placed on their table. The waiter just arrived and was giving what he ordered to them. Then he placed Nian's sundae in front of her, and she immediately took the sundae with a happy expression.
Lin Ye smiled at the waiter and quickly thanked him. After telling them to enjoy themselves, the waiter left the table to attend to the other customers.
The girl stared at the tea, before staring back towards Lin Ye. He already had the cup in his hand.
"I didn't order this," She stated.
Lin Ye raised a brow as he stopped his cup, which was just inches away from his mouth.
"I know you didn't," Lin Ye stated, "I did."
With that, he took a sip from his cup. The girl looked at the cup and after debating on what to do with it, she took the cup and brought it to her mouth.
Nian was just eating her worryingly red sundae without a care in the world.
After having her sip of the tea, the Liberian girl gently placed the cup back onto the table.
"Let's just state this," The girl glared at him, "You didn't follow my order."
Lin ye hummed and placed his cup down.
"What do you mean by orders?" Lin ye asked, curious at what she was talking about.
"Exusiai got in contact with me," The girl narrowed her eyes as she glared at him, "You told her about this. I told you to not tell her, but perhaps you were deaf and didn't listen."
The realisation hit him.
"That was an order?" He smiled, "I thought those were just suggestions, Birdie."
That wasn't something the girl found amusing to hear in the slightest. Seeing this, Lin Ye hummed.
"I didn't do it of my own free will, just so you know," Lin Ye explained himself, "If Exusiai called you, you must know how stubborn that girl can be if it is anything remotely related to Mostima."
She didn't like how she instantly agreed with this man. She was about to ask him more, but he beat her to the punch.
"Before we start, can I ask you for your name, Birdie?" Lin Ye asked, "It's kind of annoying to think of you as 'girl' or something like Birdie."
"…"
The girl was surprised by this.
"Out of all the things we can discuss, wanting to know my name was your top priority?" She asked, confused.
Lin Ye hummed at this.
"Name?" He repeated his question.
This man was unbelievable.
"… Diana," She replied, "You can call me Diana."
The answer made Lin Ye laugh a bit. With his pointer finger, he pointed at something behind the Liberi's shoulder.
"You just took the name of someone from that poster, right?"
True to his words, there was a poster that had the words "Diana" on it.
This made "Diana's" brow twitch slightly.
"You wanted something to refer to me as, not my name, and also not Birdie," She stated, with a little bit annoyance on the last part, "Do you want to know what happened to Mostima or not? Is my name more important than her?"
Seeing that "Diana" was not going to give him her name, Lin Ye needed to make do with it.
"Sure, Bird-I mean Diana," He hummed, "So what happened to Mostima?"
The now-named Diana leaned closer to him.
"Do you have her gun on you?" She asked, "I just need to make sure you really are him."
He raised a brow at her but nonetheless rummaged through his inner jacket's pocket to get the gun.
Pulling out the black-coloured gun, Lin ye brought it up to his face and examined it.
Contender. A break-action single-shot pistol or rifle. It could be chambered in cartridges from .22 Long Rifle to .45-70 Government. This was the G2 with how modern it looked.
This was the gun that Mostima exchanged his Python with.
Lin ye still didn't know why she did that. Logically, her gun was way better than his in a long shot, but Mostima was willing to give it to him for free. That didn't really feel right to him to get something for free, so he exchanged guns with her instead.
After taking a final good look at the gun and making sure it didn't have a bullet in it, Lin Ye handed it to Diana.
"Here." He said.
Diana stared at the gun for a while and then back at him. He still had that small smile on his face as he stared back at her. Tearing her eyes away from his, she took the gun away from him. Lin Ye leaned back on the seat and let her inspect the gun. In the meantime, he glanced to the side and saw that Nian was enjoying her time eating the sundae that he ordered for her. This brought a small smile to his lips.
Diana gently rubbed her fingers on the gun as if she was feeling it. A dim light flashed for a second and revealed a name.
[Angel]
This was her gun.
She sighed after seeing this.
"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed that Mostima would give her gun to someone like you." Diana returned the gun to Lin Ye.
Lin Ye pocketed the gun away and raised a brow at her with a smile.
"Someone like me?" He folded his arms and asked, "Am I a bad person in your eyes, Miss Diana?"
Diana stared at him blankly.
"You're much worse than a bad person," She replied, "You're just an ordinary person. Mostima is not like that. She entrusted you with her gun. Even if she doesn't use it, their patron gun means the world to a Sankta."
Lin Ye's eyes slightly widened when she said this, Especially the last part. But something with what the Liberi said irked him.
".. Ordinary, huh?" Lin Ye repeated that word under his breath.
Him? Ordinary?
Was fighting terrorists at every place you visit ordinary?
Was leaving the place that you could call home while the people who took you in were dying ordinary?
Was having blood that could cure an incurable disease ordinary?
Was fighting a Cthulhu-looking monster ordinary?
Was taking over a fucking dead body and acting like he was that person ordinary?
Lin Ye was the farthest thing he thought was ordinary.
Diana noticed the man in front of her was eerily quiet. Even the girl that was eating this whole time stopped and glanced at her brother.
Did she say something that she shouldn't have said?
She was about to ask about this, but the man cut her off before a word could leave her mouth.
"Thanks," Lin ye smiled, "I'll take that as a compliment then."
Diana's eyes narrowed at this man. Something was off about him. It was just that she didn't know what it was, which irritated her a little.
"… I see." She replied.
Lin Ye hummed and gestured a hand at her.
"So are you going to tell me what is going on with Mostima or not?" Lin Ye then smirked at her, "Or am I more important than Mostima?"
"…"
She did not like how cheeky he was. Using her words against herself like a fool. Although it didn't amuse her, she didn't want to entertain him by getting angry.
"… She asked me to get you," She answered.
What she said confused Lin Ye.
"Get me?" He asked, "Why?"
She let out a frustrated sigh upon hearing his question.
"That I do not know," She groaned, "She said that you will save her and fix everything."
Diana clicked her tongue.
"Who the hell does she think she is?" Diana asked herself, "A damsel in distress waiting for her lover to save her?"
….This only made Lin Ye question what she said more.
