Chapter 9: The Knight and the Mage
Mewtwo teleports to the top of a skyscraper to look over the humans with disgust. "So weak," Mewtwo raises his hand to aim at the crowd of people to conjure an orb of Psychic energy to lob it into a building unleashing a terrorizing blast to turn it into a big crater.
The attack was underway as Vermillion City is under attack by the corrupt Pokemon. People were running away in fear with the Police and their Pokemon trying to stop the rouge Pokemon. "Pathetic," Mewtwo teleports onto the streets to let out a surge of power to blow away his enemies.
"Kill that monster," the police open fire with their rifles and shotguns but their bullets bounce off Mewtwo's Psychic shield leaving him unharmed. He lifts an armored truck and tosses it into a crowd of SWAT Officers to crush them into bloody piles.
An officer aims his grenade launcher to lob explosive rounds toward Mewtwo and holds them up in the air with his mind. "Foolish," he flings them back for the explosives to wipe out the police officers.
Several Growllithes and Arcanines unload tons of fireballs with Mewtwo batting them away with ease as a few Arcanines use Extreme Speed trying to tackle him.
Mewtwo teleports out of the way to blast them with a psychic blast to force them down onto the pavement. He begins to rend apart the flaming dogs to scatter their broken bodies across the city block.
"Pathetic," Mewtwo lifts the helpless Growllithe into the air to forcefully rip the Pokemon in half with his mind. Blood rains down around the Shadow Pokemon as he continues his assault.
A terrible battle between Shadow Mewtwo and the Police Forces for this rips the entire city apart with news on social media spreading very fast. Videos from the scene were spreading with N watching this from his smartphone.
"Cipher, a cruel bunch of friends," N said as he goes to Vermillion City to help fight against the rouge Pokemon.
Elsewhere Mike and the others are relaxing in the mansion to see videos on their phones of Mewtwo fighting the Police and killing them off in brutal ways. "Oh, that thing showed up again," Leaf said.
"You mention you fought it in the past," Michael said.
"Yeah, it was crazy strong. Barely escaping with my life. Now it's back out of nowhere," Leaf said.
"This is Cipher all over it but now they are controlling a Mewtwo," Lyra said as Michael grabs his Vapereon and Weavile.
"I am going in. Kendra. come with me and Lily as well. I think it's best for you two to stay in Saffron City just in case Cipher wants to do a sneak attack here," Michael said.
"Seems smart. Good luck you two," Leaf said as Kendra knows that Mewtwo is a very powerful psychic type and she is going to need to use the Burst Heart soon enough. She brings it and the glove with her as well as two Pokemon Dragapult and Gengar.
"Lily. Teleport us to Vermillion City," Kendra said as Lily nods her head.
"Get close," Lily said as she warps them to the embattled city to see dead bodies of police and Pokemon spread across the streets filled with death and destruction.
"This is awful," Kendra said as she looks over a dead Pokemon with blood flowing onto the streets. She feels intense pressure to see the powerful Pokemon standing there to observe them.
"Get back," Lily puts up a barrier for Mewtwo to unleash a surge of energy to push Lily backward. She matches her psychic strike which doesn't faze the Legendary Pokemon. Lily, Dragapult, and Gengar go on the assault with Mewtwo unleashing surges of psychic energy to push them back but the two Ghost Types keep pushing as Dragapult and Gengar toss out Shadow Balls.
Mewtwo tosses back orbs of psychic energy for the attacks cancel each other out. Lily tries to fight back with her Fairy powers instead to unleash a barrage of rainbow lights and energy stars. Mewtwo uses Protect to block her attacks but Lily lifts pieces of debris to smash into Mewtwo to still hit the mark.
"Break off, let Michael and the others keep him distracted while we strike from the shadows," Lily said as they break off leaving Michael, Mandy, and Weavile to deal with Mewtwo for a bit.
"We are not afraid of you," Michael uses Burst to enter into his Hybrid Form to call upon Mandy and Weavile to leap at Mewtwo.
"You should be," Mewtwo said as they clash which unleashes a powerful shockwave that rocked the area.
Buildings collapse around them as Mandy uses Rain Dance to summon a downpour around them. Vapereon uses Acid Armor to melt into a nearby puddle. Michael empowers his arm blades to leash out energy crescents with Mewtwo blocking them but Mandy uses Hydro Pump to slam into Mewtwo catching him off guard.
Weavile uses Sucker Punch to deliver a powerful blow to hit the Psychic Pokemon in the back to knock his way. Mewtwo uses a psychic blast to hit Weavile to do no damage as Weavile uses Ice Punch to score a hit freezing Mewtwo's arm.
"This rain will come in handy to freeze him and get free shots," Michael thought to keep up the pressure leashing out psychic blasts and energy crescents. Mandy is popping out of the water to launch several Hydro Pumps while Weavile is using Icy Wind trying to freeze Mewtwo in place.
"Mandy, use Surf," Mike ordered as Vapereon unleashes a wave of water that Mewtwo can't block. He gets swept up but he teleports out of there but is soaked. Weavile uses icy Wind to freeze Mewtwo in place becoming an ice cube.
"Close Combat," Mike swiftly goes up and rapidly strikes Mewtwo with machine gun fists pushing him back with each strike. "X Slash," a new move he learned through training unleashing a powerful slash to deliver a solid hit.
"Damn it," Mewtwo said as he unleashes a surge of energy to blow away Michael and Mandy. Weavile presses on but Mewtwo flings a piece of debris to slam into the little imp to knock her across the street.
Lily leaps from the tower to pepper the Legendary with bolts of fairy power. Mewtwo uses his Protect to block it but Dragupult uses Phantom Force to bypass the barrier and hit Mewtwo with a ghastly strike. Gengar uses Toxic to poison Mewtwo and both Gengar and Dragapult use Hex to double the damage against the poisoned Mewtwo.
"They are putting up more of a fight than I thought," Mewtwo is slowly getting weaker but wants to purge the poison. Lily teleports in front of Mewtwo as he was distracted.
"Moonblast," Lily fires a beam of moonlight to send the Pokemon flying into a building to crash into a bedroom. Lily and Michael hop through the hole to use psychic attacks with Mewtwo matching their power with his own.
The psychic forces clashing triggers a big shockwave to make the building collapse on top of them but they teleport out of there before being crushed.
Weavile comes in with an Ice Punch as Mewtwo uses a piece of debris to block it and lobs it at the Pokemon to take it out. "Annoying Bug," Mewtwo manages to take Weavile out of the fight.
Mike withdraws Weavile to resume fighting with him clashing with Mewtwo. He is using psychic screens to block his incoming strikes. "Stun Impact," Mike uses a new move to slam his fist into the ground to unleash a dome of energy to stun Mewtwo for a moment.
Lily gathers pieces of debris to strike down Mewtwo all at once causing some damage. Mike follows up with another X-Slash to deliver a powerful blow as the poison is slowly weakening him.
Dragupult unleashes Drago Meteor to send down a ton of burning rocks with Mewtwo getting peppered by the Dragon's powerful move.
Gengar comes in with a Venoshock hitting Mewtwo pretty hard while still poisoned. "Pest," Mewtwo lobs a powerful Psystrike to score a major on Gengar blasting it into a building and taking him out.
"Gengar," Kendra pulls out her poke ball to recall back into her ball. Dragupult is still holding his own against the Legendary Pokemon while helping Mandy, Lily, and Michael in the battle.
Mewtwo teleports away to gain some space to heal his poison and recover some of his health. Lily and Dragupult track him down by them combining Moonblast and Shadow Ball. Mandy is in the background hiding in a puddle still using her Acid Armor.
"Pointless," Mewtwo unleashes a surge of energy to blow them away as Vaporeon sweeps up the floor with Surf to sweep Mewtwo out the window. Mike grabs him from behind to use a Seismic Toss to pile drive him 500 feet in the air and into the streets below.
Mike gets onto his feet for his attack made a big crater where Mewtwo is. Lily, Mandy, and Dragupult are beside him. Kendra puts on the glove and Burst Heart in hand for Mewtwo has a lot of fight in him left.
Mewtwo surges with the power to blow away the debris to summon buildings to rip them from their foundation to send them flying at the group. "Oh crap, get behind me," Mike begins to power up as his body is covered in a red aura. "Overdrive," Mewtwo can feel the power bursting out of Mike. His power and speed double as he runs at the flying buildings. He uses his elbow blades to slice up a building to bounce off the structures to cut up each one with ease.
Mandy uses an Ice Beam to strike Mewtwo to freeze him and the Lily and Michael use Psychic to fling back all the sliced-up buildings to crash into Mewtwo to score a direct hit.
Dragupult uses Shadow Claw as Mewtwo blows the debris to pieces. He puts up a barrier but the ghost Pokemon slices right through it and rakes across Mewtwo's chest. He fuses a Dragon Rush to cloak himself in arcane energy to tackle Mewtwo to send him flying.
"Swift," Lily showers down energy stars with Mandy still using the rain as cover. Mike gets close to slamming into Mewtwo. He is surprised at how fast Michael quickly became. "Close Combat," he is rapidly punching the Pokemon to shove his last fist into his chest to knock him backward.
"Where did that power from?" he questioned as Mewtwo is getting pushed back for his physical skills are a major flaw. Mewtwo noticed Mike's power spike went down pretty quickly as he hits him with a Psystrike to send him across the ruined street.
"What was that Michael?" Lily asked within his mind.
"It's called Overdrive, a technique I made. It multiplies my speed and power in quick bursts but I can't hold it for too long or it will tear my body apart," Michael said as Dragapult and Vapereon go in to strike but Mewtwo catches them in the act to trap them in psychic holds to fling them hard against a building to knock them down.
"Shoot," Mike returns Mandy to her poke ball with Kendra getting Dragupult back into her ball. Mewtwo noticed the human with psychic power within her.
Mewtwo teleports in front of Kendra as Lily and Michael were frightened by this.
"Oh crap," Mike said as they rushed over with Kendra using her power but Mewtwo easily blocks it to lift her in the air. Kendra can feel her throat being pressed by an invisible hand.
"Let her go!" Lily said with anger for her power is surging to see a peek into the future to see Mewtwo snaping her mistress's neck killing her. "Let…her…go!" Lily's power explodes with Mewtwo and Mike being caught off guard.
"This power swelling in her," Mewtwo said as Lily reaches out to unleash Psychic to launch Mewtwo away punching through his barrier. Lily catches her mistress to place her down.
"Keep Mistress safe, I am going to give Mewtwo a piece of my mind," Lily is glowing with pink energy to toss a barrage of Psychic and Moonblast. Mewtwo manages to block some but some got through to hit him pretty hard.
"Psystrike, Stored Power," the two Psychics lob their attacks to clash trying to overpower the other. Lily's power boost gives Stored Power the edge to tear through Mewtwo's attack. Through the power of Lily's sisterly love, Lily can keep up with one of the most powerful Psychic Pokemon in the world.
"I will not let you harm her," Lily directly punches through Mewtwo's psychic barrier to strike his mind to put a lot of pressure on him. Mewtwo muscles his way and knocks her way with a psychic blast but Lily doesn't care to push past her limits. "Double Team," she is rushing at the Legendary Pokemon with swiftness and grace to make illusions of herself. Mewtwo is blasting away the copies with Lily gets close to seeing Mewtwo using his Psystrike.
Lily catches the Psychic move in an energy field. "Reflect," Lily sends it back to slam into Mewtwo to knock him a hundred feet away.
N manages to make it to see the city is in ruins from the titanic battle between Mewtwo and his allies. "I made it," he melts into the shadows to make his next move.
"Why do you still fight?" Mewtwo gives Lily a question. "You know you are weaker," he said as they keep pressuring each other but Lily shakes it off to blast him with rainbow rays.
"I don't care," Lily said as she uses Stored Power to send Mewtwo flying into a building. "I need to protect my mistress. She is my partner, not my sister. I do this because we are family and family protect one another," Lily said as this flared up Mewtwo.
"Nonsense," Mewtwo slams her with Lily resisting to launch a psychic strike to push Mewtwo back.
"It's not, it's the only allowing me to keep up with you despite me being weaker than you," Lily said as her injuries are catching up to her to begin to slow down. She is blocking incoming psychic shoves and energy beams to get hit in the chest to back her fumble but still standing.
"You are running out of time, Psystrike," Mewtwo slams Lily with a powerful psychic shove to launch across the street to fall next to Kendra and Mike.
"Lily," Kendra said holding her hand.
"I am sorry, I tried," Lily said as she spits blood onto the ground.
"You did your best, that's all that matter," Kendra said as Mewtwo is about to throw another Psystrike.
"Pathetic," Mewtwo is about to finish them off with Mike going to strike back.
"You are the pathetic one here," N comes out of the shadows to knock away the attack with ease. The three were surprised by this mysterious man's appearance and he is using a Burst Heart as well.
"Who are you?" Mike asked.
"I am N and I am a friend of Professor Swan. I am going to distract him, you have the powers to finish this very quickly," N melts into the shadows to fight off Mewtwo using his Zoroark Hybrid form.
"What did you say to me?" Mewtwo asked as he lobs a Psystrike at N to score a hit but it does not do damage.
"Dark Assault," N rapidly pops out of the shadows to slash into the Pokemon multiple times. "Eat this," N wields his dark claws to slice across Mewtwo's chest to break through his barriers with ease. "You know what I said. Despite seeking strength, you are nothing more than a bully and picking on the weak," N said.
"I don't need your words," Mewtwo flings debris at N since he can't strike him directly due to him being a Dark Type.
"It's very sad, you claim you want to be the strongest you are a tool yet again by evil humans," N said. This did sting Mewtwo's pride quite a bit for he is still under their control but can't break free from this darkness driving him.
"Don't think you know me?" Mewtwo asked as N looks at the Pokemon with an earnest expression.
"Once I was used as a tool by my father figure. He never cared about my desires only about his goals. You were forged as a weapon by Team Rocket to suit their ends. We are both quite similar, so I can sympathize with your pain of seeking another way," N said his empathy makes Mewtwo feel weird.
Mewtwo senses no malice but only the truth within his words but his pride is not letting him see it. "Doesn't matter," he said as he aims a piece of debris at N.
"It does matter, you seek power but you feel hollow. Pokemon can only reach their full potential when helped by a trainer," N said.
"Nonsense, I don't need these weak humans," Mewtwo said as N shows no sign of lying and this gave Mewtwo pause.
"I had to learn the hard way that Pokemon and Humans were meant to work together to forge a better world for everyone. Pokemon don't fight because they were forced to, they do it because they care and want to help their human friends to form bonds with them," N said as he walked toward Mewtwo.
Mewtwo is getting affected by N's empathy and he doesn't like it. Despite being a Shadow Pokemon, his heart is slowly healing from N's words alone.
"You will never be strong without the help of humans. Soon you will see that power firsthand," N said as Mewtwo is confused by this.
Back with Kendra and Lily, the Gardevoir used up a lot of her power to be getting weak. The rain still pours down onto them as the raindrops splash onto Lily's tired face. "Kendra, we need to merge. You need to use the Burst Heart," Lily said as Kendra looks at the stone to hesitate a bit.
"You will be stuck inside forever, I wouldn't be able to hang out with you like before," Kendra said as Lily place her hand on Kendra's pale cheek to show her a weak smile.
"Don't be like that, you are not alone anymore. You have friends now; I have been waiting for that moment for a long time. Michael, take good care of her for me," Lily said as Michael gives her a thumbs up.
"Will do," Mike said as Kendra kisses her on the forehead to give her one last big hug.
"Thank you Lily for everything," Kendra said as she points the gem at her Gardevoir.
"Don't worry, I will always be here with you. Guiding you when we fused," Lily said as she teleports into the gem before she disappears. Kendra looks at the gem to see Lily in stasis inside as she slaps the gem onto the glove.
"Burst," Lily triggers the transformation as Mewtwo and N look over at the bright light engulfing the street. N smiles at this as Kendra has become another Burst Warrior to add three on the good side.
"What is this?" Mewtwo tosses a Psystrike at the light but Kendra manages to deflect it away. "This power," he questioned as the light dies out to reveal Kendra's hybrid Gardevoir form which has Kendra having a red crest between her breasts, spikes around her face, and sporting a flowing white gown along with a white leotard attached to the dress underneath.
"I feel so powerful," Kendra's power raises as both her psychic power and Lily's psychic energies combined to be a deadly force that she wields at will. She picks up a piece of debris to break it down into a ton of pieces of smaller pieces to fling them at Mewtwo like bullets. He gets overwhelmed by all the debris and punches through his barrier to score a hit.
"Psycho Surge," Kendra unleashes a huge wave of psychic energy to slam into Mewtwo for he can't block it and gets forced backward.
"We need to end this quickly," Mike said as Kendra nods her head.
"Mega Evolve," both said as a shell of light engulfs them with power pulsing through the streets. Mewtwo is shocked at the raw power the two were showing.
"Something you will never get without a trainer's trust," N said as the shells disappear to see Kendra and Michael in their Mega forms.
Mike's elbow blades became red and got longer while sporting a long white cape while Kendra sports a flowing white gown and two red crests appear between her breasts.
"Time to end this," Mike said as he grabs onto Kendra's hand tenderly.
"Let's," she said as they thrust both of their hands at Mewtwo.
"Psychic Surge," they unleash a combined psychic blast that rips up the entire street heading for Mewtwo.
"Psystrike," Mewtwo launches his attack but it gets swept away easily and he gets caught in the psychic wave to slam through several buildings. Kendra swiftly heads for Mewtwo to unleash Fairy-type moves to overwhelm Mewtwo.
"Fairy Whirlwind," Kendra summons a gust of rainbow light to slam into Mewtwo with Mike following up with Extreme Speed to slam into Mewtwo. He grabs him by the tail to fling him across the streets to release several energy crescents. The attacks slice through the barriers leaving behind bloody cuts on Mewtwo's body.
Mewtwo is trying hard to fight back but the duo's Mega Hybrid forms were too strong for him to handle. "X-Slash," he craves energized cuts to make X markings on Mewtwo's chest explode with power.
Kendra bends the rain around her with telekinesis to trap Mewtwo in a huge water bubble. Mewtwo tries to escape but Kendra focuses her raw power on the water trying to drown him and preventing him from focusing his power. "Implosion," Kendra triggers the water orb to collapse on itself with Mewtwo falling onto the ground to be deeply weakened.
"Time to end this," Mike powers up his elbow blades with raw energy to aim right for Mewtwo.
"No, I will not lose," Mewtwo puts up a Protect to block the next move.
"Talon Scar," Mike swings his elbow blades to unleash a massive barrage of energy crescents which rips up the whole street reducing it to nothing as it heads for Mewtwo. The massive attack strikes the barrier to swiftly rip it apart while Mewtwo is trying fast to repair it but fails.
The barrier breaks and he gets swept up in the massive blade storm for he screams in agony to be launched hundreds of feet through several buildings. "Impossible, beaten by humans and Pokemon working together," Mewtwo blacks out to faint onto the crater he made via impact.
Mike, N, and Kendra arrive at the crater with them back to normal as Mike tosses a Snug Ball to catch the Legendary Pokemon to be successfully capturing it. "First Legendary and it will not be the last," N said as he goes up and takes the ball. "I will be taking this to Professor Swan and get Mewtwo purified," N said as he places the ball in his bag.
"Were you the one who came to Swan the compass?' Kendra asked.
"Correct since you are Psychic it will be useful to you to seek out Cipher's true objective," N said.
'What would that be?" Mike asked being very worn out from the fight as the Mega Evolution took a lot of him along with Kendra.
"The Grandmaster, the leader of Cipher wants to find the Oracle Stones which will lead him to the pocket dimension of Dialga. Then he will use his Burst Heart to become one with it and change the course of history," N said as Kendra and Michael were dumbfounded by this.
"Cipher's leader wants to become a time god?" Kendra asked.
"Yes and then the world will be doomed," N said as he disappears into the shadows with Kendra and Michael leaving the ruined city to be shown a much darker objective to Cipher's goals.
Elsewhere Lovrina was watching the whole fight through a small drone that broadcast it to her screen in her room on the ship to take note of Michael and Kendra. "Gee, that was disappointing but those two. They managed to Mega Evolve in their Hybrid forms. Very interesting, seems like the hero and heroine have shown up. Let's see if they got what it takes to not get swept under the rug," Lovrina said as she has more bullets in her chambers for she has Shadow Lugia along with Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres who has become Shadow Pokemon as well.
