Okay, so while I did want to continue this chapter with Noelle, and finish with the rest of the girls in Mondstant, I also want to include a short chapter that's kind of story related, since I just got to finishing part of sumeru's story quest, so when we inevitably get to Sumeru in this story, it'll not be that jarring.
"Oh, nothing." "Katherine" ignored Paimon's joke, as did I. Paimon kept her fuming to a minimum, and Naida, possessing Katherine, looked at me, waiting for a question.
"Aether, go on, pick an aspect for Nabiya to divine."
'Let's go for something random.'
"Tell me. Divine my prospects in love." I said with a straight face.
She put her fists on her waist.
"Love prospects? No problem at all." I could hear the smile in her voice, as she tried "divining" some magical power.
She put her hand out, as if she were grabbing her prediction, falling from the sky with incredible speed, closing her eyes in order to see the truth.
"Hummmmm… the gods have spoken. The truth shall be revealed." She spoke as if the information was filling her head, and she was about to reveal it to me.
That made Paimon excited as hell, but I shrugged.
Nabiya put her hands up in excitement, as she delivered the divine knowledge she had obtained from the heaven's.
"One who is fated to cross your path will appear on… on…" She gained an unmistakable blush on her face, as I saw her look with absolute perplexity.
"Huh?! So… so many people will fall for you?! How could that be…" She scratched her head, trying to come to terms with, or what to do with that information she had.
At that point, I wasn't sure if she was spying on me, or if she really had gained divine insight, but my mastering of my expressionless look had really paid off, because that's what I conveyed to her.
She turned around towards the black and white cats on top of the pillows, and looked at them in frustration.
"Harut, Marut, did you two spoil my divination? I've never read a fortune so absurd."
I narrowed my eyes on her cats, as well as her, switching between the three of them.
'How the hell did she know…'
The cats, obviously, didn't respond with human words, saying, "Meow?" They were equally confused as I was.
"Uh, actually, Paimon thinks this is probably the most accurate fortune-telling you've ever done."
I just deadpanned in her direction, but that was enough to get a reaction out of Paimon.
'Well, I already have 21 wives… so I guess she's not wrong."
I facepalmed.
"There's… still more." I muttered under my breath, as I walked away from Nabiya.
While it wasn't my concern then, I'd still have many other wives coming from Sumeru, as both I and they confessed to me.
'Well, no one said love was easy… I still have to figure out the wedding, eventually. Not to mention having their kids…'
I racked my brain, trying to find out a solution, as Nadiya dragged Paimon and I to the next stand.
'Well, there's always after the mission. I guess I can try talking to nilou, at least…'
A blush developed on my face, just thinking about her dance. It was majestic, even if it was just in a dream.
'Focus. For now, let's keep to the mission. Sex and marriage later.'
I moved my feelings aside, to continue with the mission.
And yeah, short chapter, but this is what I wanted to do. Sorry, I'm still working on the noelle one, but it's over halfway finished. On a side note, man, Sumeru has been incredible so far. And I hope to see you guys later.
