When Amy opened the apartment door, she found Sheldon's smiling face and in his hands a bouquet of flowers that meant a change for the better, considering that not so long ago, in sociable terms, he was a brain in a glass box. . Now Sheldon hadn't just bought her flowers, he was ready to make love to her. Her smile brightened and her green eyes shone brighter that night than any other; magic that only love is able to do on people and bring them genuine happiness.
Sheldon's expression at Amy's door didn't exactly show his nervousness. The subtle way in which he managed a smile and then spoke gently about the balloon that slipped out of his hands helped to cover it up a bit. It may have been the conversation with Penny or Arthur's ghost that strengthened the decision to spend the night with a woman, contrary to lifelong theories. Somehow, Sheldon seemed calm and collected as he sat on the couch. Although the couple looked alike in many ways, he rarely acted like everyone else, no matter how boisterous or deeply stressed, which was why he confused people, including Amy.
But he was determined to be a perfect boyfriend for Amy because he loved her; not that physical intimacy, in him opinion, binds each other, if that were the case Penny would still have two hundred boyfriends at her feet. Absolutely not! The goal wasn't to captivate someone using sex. Sheldon weighed all the points well and concluded that it was time to step up... and Amy was the right girl!
For two whole days, Sheldon dedicated himself to planning Amy's birthday. Carefully not to miss anything important, he mentally ran through all of Penny's tips on what women like. It sounds crazy, but girls like kisses on parts of the body that not even Freud himself would have the courage to pronounce, proof that if God really exists he wouldn't be so absurd! Every time Sheldon remembered something he found strange or funny, the urge to smile came back⦠and so did the shivers.
Not to lose Amy or let her down, Sheldon tried to focus. He'd already lost her once and he didn't want to go through the pain again. More than any other human on earth, he knew how callous he could be at times. It wasn't always easy to let go of selfishness, but looking at Amy's so beautiful smile, the way she kept the flowers in the vase, maybe today it would be easier to let go of ego to dedicate herself to someone else. Sheldon thought, adding a bad review about the music that was playing and the creepy candles scattered around the apartment.
Amy's voice dragged him back to the real world as she offered to blow out the candles. "It's your birthday!" Sheldon said, although inside he was afraid of starting a fire. Curtains catch fire easily. Sofas too! With her heart pounding in her chest, Amy approached him and asked what schedule to follow, as her boyfriend loves to plan everything! Amy wanted to hear from him everything Penny and Bernadette had said about the birthday present. She wanted to make him talk about it, subtly.
Feeling his cheeks burn and turn red as if he had a fever, Sheldon's eyes glanced briefly at the floor and then at Amy's. Her cheeks also looked more flushed and her eyes were green as two emeralds. As he tried to be objective, Amy waited anxiously for an answer. Normally, Sheldon would have known exactly what to say, but in that moment the words were gone. Although physics was simple to his brilliant mind, talking about his emotions was always a high-level challenge. Including his dry mouth and sweaty hands, he spoke slowly, using subterfuge.
Fortunately, Amy was as patient as Mary had been with her son. Even though she was on fire to kiss him, in that moment she continued to listen with the same gentleness as always. On the other hand, Sheldon's naivety was on par with a child who saw no evil in anything. Sheldon didn't find it embarrassing to talk about sex as long as his integrity remained preserved.
"Amy, you need to know about the present..." Sheldon said, rubbing his palms on his knees. The words still hadn't returned, but luckily he felt more comfortable. In her anxiety, Amy confessed that she already knows about the birthday present. She was shy and brave while Sheldon was surprised and turned to her with the same look spring would have if spring were a person: beautiful, full of color and soft. "Is it OK for you?" Sheldon wanted to know. Amy's response was a kiss on the mouth similar to the first kiss she stole from him the night they went dancing.
The passion with which Amy kissed Sheldon was undoubtedly a strong proof of her love and how prepared she was for the moment she had spent her whole life dreaming about. Even though Sheldon interrupted the romance to talk about a contract that guarantees that both parties agree to coitus, she was unfazed and kissed him again, this time with impressive boldness.
Sheldon's hands were free for a short while, until he got used to his girlfriend's new gestures. Without doing any forethought, Sheldon touched Amy's back and slid his hands up and down as she held him by the shoulders. They weren't used to French kissing in their courtship ritual, not even on date nights. In fact, he only remembers kissing her like that once, on Valentine's Day, two years ago, on a train. At the time, that kind of intimacy felt right, and now it feels right, too.
And strangely, Sheldon found himself enjoying it very much.
It was the first time that, during physical contact with Amy or anyone else, Sheldon felt the loss of control in his legs and a strange intense fire that rose from the vicinity of his heart and down to his intimate region, burning more there than before. He didn't know how to stop the fire that was spreading like a volcano about to erupt. As Amy leaned her body a little closer to him, Sheldon wondered if this was how hormones made people commit acts and then regret them. He knew the theory, now he was beginning to know it in practice.
The couple remained kissing for a few minutes on the couch. After a while, Amy looked into Sheldon's eyes, noting how his pupils fluctuated in size and his skin was hot and red. With a whisper close to his mouth, she invited him to accompany her to the bedroom. Sheldon didn't say a word, just nodded and then they clasped their hands and obediently followed.
"Wait a minute, aren't you going to turn off the music?" Sheldon asked before entering the bedroom. Amy studied him for a moment and saw no alternative but to let things go their way within the confines that give Sheldon some comfort and emotional stability. As a neuroscientist, she recognizes how important this is. And as a girlfriend, she knows that if she doesn't turn off the music, Sheldon will spend the rest of the night focused on everything but her!
"I'm going to turn it off!" Amy let go of his hand and walked over to pick up the stereo. Seconds later and with the apartment silent, she returned to him and the two entered the room.
Amy entered the bedroom last. She was the one who closed the door and stood there watching Sheldon walk to the bed. His face conveyed, more clearly than words, the meaning of that moment. As if her heart wanted to leave her chest and then go in and out again, Amy felt that way at the prospect of losing her virginity to Sheldon. Given the silence inside the bedroom, Sheldon turned and faced Amy, then asked what she was doing standing in the doorway.
"So I guess I'd rather change in the bathroom." She said a little shyly.
"It's all right!" Sheldon agreed. His answer sounded as serene as a pleasant breeze in the coconut trees.
"I'll be right back!" Amy floated to the bathroom door and entered quickly.
While waiting for her, Sheldon started to take off his clothes as well. Taking care to fold each piece, he took off her shoes, socks, pants, and then her blouse. In less than two minutes, Sheldon had already folded his clothes. Leaving only his underwear and the second shirt he usually wears under his clothes, the young scientist gently pulled the covers off the bed and crawled inside. For the next few seconds, all he did was wait patiently. He waited and stared at the bedroom walls as he tried to keep his mind focused on Amy's gift. He couldn't get stressed or he'd ruin everything!
Finally, when Amy opened the bathroom door, Sheldon could see her in a soft-toned nightgown with embroidery so delicate it was barely noticeable. He smiled. She smiled back. Sheldon wanted to tell her how beautiful she was, but he couldn't get out of the trance that left him almost paralyzed in front of the only perfect woman he'd found without even search.
"Can I get under the covers with you?" When Amy asked that question, she wanted to control her heartbeat, but it was impossible! It was also impossible to control the hand tremors caused by nervousness. When Sheldon answered a "yes", she walked over to the bed and sat down beside him as if she would die if she stayed on her feet for one more minute.
For a fraction of a time, the two of them sat on the bed in silence, and Sheldon looked at Amy and at her hands.
"Hi" Sheldon broke the ice he didn't even know existed.
"Hello!" Amy responded on automatic.
"Why are you shaking? Are you cold?"
"I'm nervous!"
"Why?"
Amy sighed and confessed how nervous she was. She also said how much she had dreamed and waited for this moment. So many things were going through her head that now that she was close to discovering what it was like to be intimate, she felt like she was going to pass out.
All his life, Sheldon was convinced that intercourse was a strategic benefit of mother nature for the reproduction of the species, but truth be told, he was also anxious not to know what it was like to be connected to another person through the genitalia, although in this case, the term "making love" fits perfectly because of his love for Amy.
Sheldon reassured Amy when he stated that the two would discover all the wonders of coitus together. Sheldon had the best effect his words could have in reminding her that he, too, was a virgin and inexperienced. Amy nodded. He was there for her, looking at her uniquely and willing to be hers alone forever. Not all books can give the answer to all things in life and, of course, that moment with Amy is one of those inexplicable things!
With butterflies in her stomach, Amy slowly approached Sheldon and reached out to touch his face. On that particular night, he was prettier and lighter, confirming the fact that love is good for everyone, including him!
Sheldon returned Amy's kiss, guessing the meaning of his girlfriend's maneuvers, until at one point he stopped, opened his eyes and read in her eyes the desire to see him with his back naked. Being naked is not your comfort zone, but since it is her birthday, he would do anything to make her happy and make the date unforgettable. And he couldn't forget about Penny's advice. He had given his word, he had committed himself, he would not go back!
Her lips twitched slightly as Sheldon began to unhurriedly remove his shirt. After that, Amy had to wait for it to fold and put away with her other clothes. It was the first time Amy had Sheldon available in her bed and she could touch him without reservation. The first thing she did was give him a sweet kiss on the chest. Sheldon closed his eyes and shivered. He didn't know he could feel so many things at once; things like excessive heat, rapid breathing, blood flow to the genitals, sensitivity, resistance, and last but not least: pleasure in the softness of Amy's lips against the skin of his neck. A mixture of sensations that would certainly be explained by Baptists as a sin of lust. But it was just her body starting to get used to the mechanics.
As nervous as she was, her hand scanned Sheldon's chest, the other hand followed the curve of his shoulders until she kissed him on the mouth again. In that instant, none of them needed to ask or say anything. It was as if they already knew what to do, as if nature had created them to be each other's and probably soul mates destined to be together, even if they didn't agree with the unscientific fact.
