A month had passed since Doctor Doctor's undercover mission in North Korea. She was still grateful to the chief of the French branch of U.Z.Z. for helping her fight off not just the late Kim Bom-bit, but the guards at the Pyongyang International Airport. She was certain that Sainte Geneviève was in turn grateful that Janet Jackson turned out to be an ingenious way to disarm the nukes. All in all, that undercover mission turned out to be more successful than she, Professor Professor, Cardigan Backyardigan, or the rest of U.Z.Z. could have even imagined.
Now all that was left was to finalize the little details for the wedding before it was set to happen. The location had already been settled a long time ago, the catering and decor had already been decided, everyone the soon-to-be wed couple had invited had confirmed they would be there, and they already knew when they would be getting married. Now they just had to apply for and obtain a marriage license, figure out what kind of cake they wanted, what kind of songs would be playing, and most importantly when they would have the wedding rehearsal. There was so much to do and yet there seemed to be so little time in the world to do it.
So Professor Professor and Doctor Doctor decided to get that whole marriage license thing out of the way first before meeting with Marlon Zen at Planque about when they could have the wedding rehearsal.
"I'm glad to hear you're still going through with the wedding," Marlon said. "I would've thought you'd postpone it after that mission from hell."
Doctor Doctor awkwardly chuckled. "I'll say. Still, if I had to choose between getting shot at by North Korean guards or being left to die in a gulag town, I'd go with the former. That doesn't mean I'd want to go through it again, though."
"Oh. Well, anyway, you said you wanted to figure out when we could do the wedding rehearsal. Is that true?"
"Oh, ja," Professor Professor replied. "I know we have about two months before the wedding, but is there a way we can schedule the rehearsal for the week after my birthday?"
Marlon pursed his lips in thought. "I don't really see why not. I am obligated to remind you, though, that you'll have a lot to put together leading up to the rehearsal. Is that alright with you?"
"Don't worry about it," Doctor Doctor assured him. "We've had to deal with tight schedules before. I think we can handle this."
"Great. Now let's go over some things first. For starters, the first thing you guys have to do is hire a wedding planner. Obviously, you've already got that covered, so let's go over the second step. Do you know who will be walking with whom in your wedding party?"
"Um..." Professor Professor thought about it for a minute. "Well, obviously, the ones currently in relationships will be paired up. So that leaves the ones who used to date and/or aren't dating right now."
"Okay, good. You can figure out who the spares will be paired up with later. Let's move on to Step 3. Have you figured out how the wedding party will enter?"
"Doctor Doctor and I already talked that over with Ray and our officiant. The bridesmaids and groomsmen will come in together just like how it usually goes at weddings."
Marlon just nodded. "Okay, then let's move on to Step 4. Have you decided on the order in which they'll be entering?"
"Hmm, it's not set in stone yet, but I figure it'll be through ranking at work from top to bottom-ranking."
"Okay, onto Step 5. Who are you going to choose to escort you down the aisle?"
Doctor Doctor seized the chance to answer this one. "Simple. Min-jun will be the one to escort me. He filled in for me as a fake date, so it only seems fair."
"Ja, ja, I still remember that," Professor Professor chimed in. "Anyway, since Doctor Doctor wants Min-jun to escort her down the aisle, I think I'll have Hermione escort me. She filled in for me as a fake date, so it only seems fair."
Marlon nodded again. "Good, now onto Step 6. Have you discussed the order of events with your officiant?"
"Yes, we've done that already," Doctor Doctor replied.
"Okay, good." Marlon clasped his hands together. "Finally, onto Step 8. Have you decided if you'll have (or at least, can have) a receiving line following the ceremony?"
Now it was Professor Professor's turn to answer. "Oh, ja, we decided a receiving line was a must whether anyone wanted to congratulate us or not."
Marlon practically squealed at this. "Okay, then. Sounds like you've got almost everything figured out. Now you'll just have to focus on what else needs to be done and you'll be on your way."
"Thank you." Professor Professor then noticed the waitress coming with their food. "It's about time. I'm famished."
"Me too, actually," Marlon replied.
"Professor Professor, I cannot stress this enough, but congratulations again on your upcoming nuptials," Cardigan Backyardigan said to Professor Professor as he was sitting down in his designated seat. "I can't wait to officiate the whole thing, if only for you."
"I appreciate it," Professor Professor replied.
"Hmm, indeed. Now, as you all already know, for reasons of security, my name is Changed Daily. Today, you may call me..." His cellphone beeped. "Oh... Lilliam Pumpernickel."
Everyone else in the briefing room just laughed.
"Anyway," Lilliam Pumpernickel continued. "For today's mission, Victor and Anita will have to fly on over to Hong Kong to take care of a jiangshi infestation. These jiangshi are going around, absorbing everyone's life forces, and it's up to Victor and Anita to stop them before they can overrun the entire island."
"Man, I'm so tired of those Chinese hopping vampires," Victor said. "I can't wait to stop those guys, aren't you, Anita?"
"Absolutely," Anita replied. "I bet stopping those jiangshi will be a piece of cake."
"Well, I certainly hope so," Lilliam Pumpernickel chimed in. "Who knows how much longer the Hongkongers have? Good luck, you two!"
After that, Victor and Anita headed off towards their skybikes to take care of the jiangshi problem. Soon, Professor Professor and Lilliam Pumpernickel were alone.
Professor Professor breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, good. Now that we're alone, there's something I need to tell you."
"Of course," Lilliam Pumpernickel said. "What is it, Professor Professor?"
"It's about the wedding rehearsal. Doctor Doctor talked about it with Marlon yesterday, and we were hoping if you would be okay with having the rehearsal the week after my birthday."
Lilliam Pumpernickel just gave with a shrug. "I mean, I don't see why not. It's your wedding, after all."
"I know, but are you okay with it?"
"Of course, I am. It's your wedding. I don't have anything really special planned for that week, so I'm all for it."
"Oh, good. I was worried you'd say no. Thank you, Lilliam Pumpernickel."
"It's the least I could do."
Professor Professor smiled, having gotten the feeling that the wedding would turn out smoothly.
