Alice laid on the bed staring at Jasper.

At what those damned bastards had done to him.

And as much rage as she had first felt now all she felt was guilt. Guilt over how she could have let something like this happen. What was the point of seeing the future if she couldn't help the one person she loved the most?

How is it that she could never spare him pain?

And now...

He wouldn't wake up.

Carlisle said it could be the amount of pain he was in. Jasper could be unconsciously refusing to wake up so as to protect himself from the pain.

A self-defense mechanism.

But if he didn't wake up he wouldn't be able to feed and therefore he wouldn't heal.

He needed blood.

But how was one meant to get it inside him when he wouldn't swallow even as a reflex and his skin could no longer be correctly pierced for an IV?

And he wasn't healing.

It felt almost as if she had lost him. If she had paid better attention...

But she didn't and because of it this happened.

He may never wake up and it would all be because the one job she had hadn't been done.

She failed him.

"The Major is dead." "How?" "He killed himself."

"You think Maria was cruel to her newborns? You should've seen what she did to him."

"You have to be mad to want to fight him. A lot of vampires would've paid to not have to even come across him."

"He was a psychopath, everyone knows what he did, you said so yourself, he was cruel and merciless with those around him."

"He was a cold blooded bastard who had no humanity left whatsoever, no wonder Maria would hold him so dearly to the point of making him her second in command. He killed millions . As far as I'm concerned the world has nothing to miss from that beast."

"So ya dun't care 'bout the people he killed? What if ya were ta have 'im right infront of ya? What if he approached yer family?" "He was dangerous, I would have never risked having my family anywhere near him, that's why I always made sure to avoid the South, he was unpredictable and someone I wouldn't have wanted to come across."

"I'm glad he is dead."

"You said so before, Maria was crueller to The Major than with anyone else, people say that he was the devil walking the Earth, a monster whose humanity was consumed by the rotten blood in his veins. "

"I believe, that had he been raised in a more gentle environment, he would have been a perfectly fine man. No one is born bad and I certainly believe that him being a black blood had nothing to do with his loss of humanity, Maria was cruel to him same as she was cruel to every single one of her soldiers, that means she was the monster, not him, he was just a tormented soul, I just hope that he may have found peace."

"He drove a stake through his heart. I think it was enough for him at that point, he was tired and ready to die. I'm the one who brought him the stake, so yes, I'm definitely sure he's dead."

"You do realize The Major killed thousands of innocents right?"

"His death was the best thing that could have ever happened regardless of how it came to be. Getting upset over it is nothing if not stupid."

"Just because our lives differ doesn't excuse you defending that assassin."

"I know he was a murderer who deserved to die."

"You say so because you know I'm right, he killed millions, innocents!"

"Why? You know I'm right, it's stupid for him to go around getting all pissed over people telling the truth. He said Maria treated The Major worse but The Major was a black blood, he could have easily overpowered her, it's not as if you spent 24/7 around them, maybe he liked when she hurt him."

"You know nothin' of what was happenin' there. Nothin' . So stop talkin' as if you knew any better because you don't."

"Regardless of what happened that doesn't mean you get to defend that beast."

"That beast was the only thing I'd to keep me sane when Peter decided to leave me, that beast did more for me than you can ever begin to fathom so please do me a favor and shut up before I shut you up myself you pretentious brat."

Each word said through the decades about The Major was crashing back on each Cullen.

And with each one of those memories a piece of their soul was ripped apart. The overwhelming horror of the situation being too much to deal with.

Because Jasper.

Jasper .

Was him. Him .

The Major.

The suicide and abuse he had spoken about or been asked about all this time. It had been his.

The reason he defended The Major so much. The why Jor had once asked them about their opinions on The Major, why he got so upset about their opinions or any ill comment towards The Major...

It had been him all along.

-Alice is blaming herself for what happened.- Edward's voice broke the silence that had settled over the living room. He needed to speak about anything before he exploded over this damn thing.

Because if he didn't he would find out if vampires could throw up when there was nothing in their stomach.

Maybe he liked when she hurt him.

That was the one sentence that floated all over Edward's mind. Searing into his brain and making him wish he could time travel.

Maybe he liked when she hurt him.

He grabbed his stomach. He can still remember the pain in his brother's face when he had said those words. The betrayal.

God.

Now he understood Alice's wrathful thoughts at the time. The reason she had avoided him the entire day after that.

He had said the worst thing anyone could ever say.

His words though, settled like a stone in Carlisle's stomach. God, how did things went from seeing his six children jesting with each other this morning to now having the threat of losing two of them hovering over his head?

Yes.

Two.

Because he knew that if he lost Jasper Alice would soon follow, maybe not physically but she would certainly lose her spirit.

He had seen what happened when a vampire lost their soulmate.

And the idea of having to see Alice become a shell of who she is now...

God he couldn't allow that.

But what was he suppose to do?

As if things weren't horrible already.

He felt nauseous over a lot of things and he knew he wasn't the only one.

Because Jasper had been wronged for so long and not even once had he ever taken it out on them.

He ran a hand through his hair. The knowledge that Jasper was The Major couldn't have been more evident. He was a black blood and his skills were rather abnormal at times. Maria's obsession over him. His attachment to The Major. How uncontrollable his anger could become and how near impossible to deal with his flashbacks could be. It had been so obvious how did he miss it?

But the Volturi didn't miss it.

Of course Aro wouldn't forget the face of the same man who almost succeeded at killing him.

And Carlisle wondered what was the reason for them to not kill Jasper on the spot. He knew what the Volturi thought about black bloods.

Dangerous beings worth experimenting on for the fun of it and for science .

But The Major?

The Major was on their list. The crimes he committed and the amount of lives he took both from humans and vampires alike. The armies. The murder attempt against Aro. His skills. His gift.

He would be killed.

Wait.

His gift.

Carlisle was 100% sure that The Major's gift could bring entire armies to their knees. Giving no chances at all to attack. He could manipulate people's to a near mind control level without the need to lift a finger or utter a word.

That's one of the things that had made Aro call him one of the most powerful vampires to ever walk the Earth. Dangerous. Lethal. Uncontrollable.

Deadly .

But Jasper's gift while powerful had never shown that kind of capacity, he barely used his gift as it was, it made no sense.

Though there was the fight with the pack. That had been... it explained the reason behind such power and skill.

But he didn't take them down. He just made them back down.

He sighed. God this was all so complicated.

~~~~~~~~
When Carlisle stepped inside the bedroom he found Jasper in the same position he had been when he last saw him. His skin still looking worse for wear. Rather than translucent now it had fell on a near grayish shade with pitch black cracks. He was on his side for that was the best position for him at the moment.
It broke his heart to see him like that.
Even more so knowing what was coming.
Alice had called Peter to ask him what could help Jasper for she knew this kind of damage had happened before. That was something that had sent Carlisle's stomach reeling.
Turns out there was a method to help him heal faster.
A cruel near wish for death method.
Wake him up with more pain and force him to feed.
The problem was that there were 90% chances of him waking up and attempting to kill whoever was causing him more pain.
Good thing is that he would be too weak to put too much of a fight if restrained.
The bad side was his gift. That's the thing to watch out for for he wouldn't hesitate to tear apart with his own pain whoever was attacking him.
Carlisle had come up with a plan that could help get over with this with less probabilities of injuries.
Bella would stand outside the bedroom and use her gift to incapacitate Jasper's gift. With some hope her gift could contrarest his.
Emmett and Edward would hold him down.
He had wanted Alice to leave so she wouldn't have to listen to what he knew was coming but she had refused to leave Jasper alone.
She had warned them though.
More like enlightened them.
Jasper wasn't The Major.
The alter was.
Jor .
The Major.
Talk about word play.
If he took the front and managed to break free they had to run and not look back no matter what happened.
Still .
Carlisle couldn't quite process a lot of things right now which he chose to not acknowledge for the time being.
His main focus now was Jasper and helping him.
And while he would have liked to keep his sons from having to be on first line to their brother's suffering he had no other option. He needed them here.
Edward and Emmett didn't said a word as both stood at each side of the bed, ready, Carlisle looked at Jasper's unconcious form. God the idea of having to do this...
-No one likes this any more than you do, but it's for the best. We are helping him, you are helping him. No matter what he does or says, he, they will understand that it was for the best.- Edward said as a statement of fact.
As much as he wanted to be on high alert under the fact that The Major was right in his house he couldn't.
Not when he had seen how near childish he could become when Renesmee was involved. He could have been a merciless psychopath, could still be so, but at the end of the day he wasn't an actual threat to his family.
Not really.
Because if he was? Edward was sure none of them would be alive at this point.
Carlisle sighed. Edward was right but that didn't make him feel any better. The idea of bringing his son pain, Jasper .
It made him nauseous.
-You are not her. You aren't hurting him for pleasure or punishment. You are doing it because if you don't, he will die.- Edward told.
-I know.
It doesn't make it any less easier.
He swallowed past the lump in his throat before reaching out to his ankle. Alice told him. The skin was burnt which meant there would be no worse nightmare for him than pressure on his ankles. Muscles that never quite healed and became sensitive when burnt.
And while he hated it it was better than Peter's suggestion of biting him or exposing him to more sunlight.
He grabbed his ankles.
