Ch 3: Aliens and fast food

"My real name is Lala Satalin Deviluke, not Lala Yuuki, well at least not yet. Rito isn't my brother, he's my fiancée.l and well how should I put this I'm… not from here..." Lala explained.

"Yeah, you're from Japan, we kind of went over this when we met, and how is Rito your fiance, aren't you younger than me?" Carlos replied.

"No, What I mean I'm not from Earth, I'm an alien from another planet, a planet very far away from here called Deviluke,"

"Wait so this supposed planet you're from has the same name as your supposed last name, I find that a little hard to believe Lala,"

"No wait, it's true, I can prove it!,"

"Prove it how, that's craz..."

"look at my tail!" Lala said.

"I'm sorry,...what?!"

"My tail isn't a fashion accessory" she said wiggling it "it's something people from my planet are born with but it's very sensitive so you can't touch it."

"Lala!, this the craziest thing ever heard, I don't know what your on, or if you were dropped on your head when you were baby, but there are no such things as aliens, YOU are not an alien, and this tail…" he said forcefully grabbing it to which Lala reacted by suddenly moving and then hitting her head on the dashboard.

"P-p-please let go" she managed to get out as her head lay on the dashboard.

Carlos let go, with a puzzled look on his face he tried to figure out a logical explanation to what just happened.

"umm,.. what just happened?!" then he realized she wasn't lying, somehow the girl sitting next to him was not of the same earth. As Lala recovered herself, the two sat quietly in the truck for a moment. A million questions ran through Carlos' head, how'd she get here, is she dangerous, does Rito even know.

"Now, do you believe me?" Lala said as she broke the silence.

"Yeah, I do, It's just so much to take in all at once you know, I mean it's just amazing, aliens exist, I'm sitting right next to one."

"Why was it so hard for you to believe me though, I mean … did you really have to grab it that hard" she looked at her tail.

"Well let's just say, you don't really fit the appearance of aliens in the movies I've seen, aliens in them don't exactly look or act like you, you understand what I'm saying"

She looked at him with a puzzled look.

"What I'm trying to say is if you watch Independence Day, Zathura, and they all show aliens as these disgusting creatures that want to end humanity, so when some girl comes up to me and tells me she's an alien, I just laughed it off."

Carlos then looked at her tail.

"I'm really really sorry if I hurt you, i didn't know your tail caused you pain"

"It doesn't exactly cause me pain, it just sort of makes me feel very weak throughout my whole body, but don't worry I'll be fine."

"Well if you're ok, let's get back to the main question, who was that other 'alien' I guess, that kept asking for some princess. I promise I'll believe every word you say from now on"

Lala began to smile "Carlos, there's a lot more that you wouldn't believe."

Lala spent an hour talking about how she was actually a princess on Deviluke, and how whoever married her gets to inherit the throne, how she ran away wanting a normal life, how she had met Rito and how he proposed in the bathtub, (Carlos couldn't help getting embarrassed at that part), how she had made friends in Japan, including Golden Darkness aka Yami the product of a secret organization seeking to overthrow the monarchy, how they went on all sorts of adventures, but how marriage candidates were still after her and what had happened with Yami a few weeks back and were able to save her, which made them have to flee japan and move in with Rito's uncle.

It answered all of Carlos' questions except one, "So if what you're saying is true, why did this "marriage candidate" attack me?"

"Hmm" she thought "It's possible that he thought you were Rito, Aliggama has always been kind of hot headed, always attack first ask questions later, he may have just seen you around me and assumed you were Rito."

"Sounds like a great guy, who wouldn't want to marry him." He replied sarcastically.

"Damn, I'm in no condition to go back to work, let's just call it a day and head home,"

He then tried to lift his foot to the brake pedal. "Ouch!" He let out. Carlos was able to move his leg slightly but it caused him to have a stabbing pain. He then looked at the cut which had appeared to be somewhat getting better from what he could tell.

"Lala, I don't think I can drive us home,"

"Well, what if we…"

Without warning he took the keys out of the ignition and handed them to Lala directly in her left hand, her eyes grew wide.

"Carlos, I've never driven a car before, come to think of it, yesterday was the first time I've ever ridden in one."

"Don't worry you'll do fine, and based on that story you've told me you flew a spaceship to Earth, there's like 10 people on this planet that are qualified to do that and I'm pretty sure it's a little more complex than a pickup truck, besides I don't want to have to explain to my mom or dad why they need to pick us up, "

Carlos then moved over to the passenger seat while Lala had walked around to the driver side, she got her seat belt on, and then got the key in between her fingers, and inserted it into the ignition.

"Carlos do I have to do this" she said nervously, "to be honest the reason I ended up on earth was because I lost control of the spaceship,"

"You're doing fine, it's an automatic so, just put your right foot on the brake and turn the key to start"

"ok, um..." she looked at the 2 pedals on the floor,

"The one on the left..." Carlos said, now realizing this might not be a good idea.

She slowly turned the key to the start position and the engine came on.

"Ok, so what do I do now," she said with her foot still firmly on the brake.

You see that lever on the column behind the steering wheel just pull it and move it from the P to the D, it says what you're on right below the fuel level, don't let your foot off the brake though until you're ready to move. Maybe you go around the lot a few times so you can get a feel for it."

With her hand trembling she reached for the shifter, she slowly pulled it forward to drive. Then with both her hands on the steering wheel eyes fixed right ahead, she slowly let go of the brake, The truck began moving.

Lala went around the parking lot four times, practicing speeding up, slowing down and turning. "Hey this is kinda fun, it's actually pretty easy!"

"I told you, You ready to go now, " Carlos replied.

"I think, can you tell me where I need to go though, I don't exactly know the way."

"Ok we're going to turn left on this street and when we get out to the main road turn left, you know traffic lights right, red stop, green go, yellow push the gas as far down as it will go."

"Something tells me that the last one isn't right"

"Hey you're already doing better than when I started driving, and trust me when you have a dad as a police officer, he doesn't take mistakes lightly. Turn left at this next light, this road has 3 lanes, so just stay in the right one"

"ok, and the speed limit is 45 Miles, right?"

"yeah it's the bigger numbers,"

"Haha, I can't believe I'm actually driving a car," Lala smiled. "Carlos, if I wanted to, how would I get a driver's license?"

"Well you just have to go to the DMV, and take a test, if you want the 3 of us can go next week when I have a day off, I need to renew the registration on the truck anyways."

It was about 10 minutes to 3 in the afternoon, Lala was still driving down the road when Carlos had realized he hadn't eaten since breakfast.

"Hey Lala, are you getting hungry, because we haven't had lunch yet,"

"Yeah, me too,"

"You want to stop somewhere, there's Jack in the Box or Del Taco on the way home"

"Sure, I've never heard of either one though, so I'm trusting you on this one."

"Hey, listen I'm sorry, if i overreacted back at the school, it's just you know, with all the stuff that's happened to schools I've seen on the news recently, the entire countries been on edge, even us janitors are told what to do if we notice anything out of the ordinary"

"It's ok I forgive you, I probably would have done the same if I had been the same in your position, it's in this shopping center right?"

Lala parked in the back corner of the shopping center away from other cars so it would be easy to get out, later, Carlos had gave her 20 dollars to buy food, while he waited in the truck, as she was about to walk inside the restaurant a sign caught her eye

"Now Hiring, open interviews today at 3pm ask for manager."

30 minutes later

Carlos had dozed off in the truck shortly after Lala left, when he awoke, he was surprised by the time on his watch,

"What is taking her so long, has she never been to a fast food place before," He thought.

A few minutes later she came back to the truck,

"There you are, what took so long?" Carlos then noticed something else in her hand as she climbed into the truck. "What's up with the clothes"

She had a Jack in the Box shirt and hat on her lap

"Oh this, um, I guess you can say, ...I got a job," she smiled.

"GOT A JOB,?! Here at Jack's? Wait, so you just walked in and they hired you?"

"Well I had something called an interview, and lasted for about 5 minutes, then they told me I was hired and I start tomorrow. It's perfect since we live right down the road, I can just walk here!" She said cheerfully.

"All they did to me was tell me they'll call me and they never did." Carlos muttered.

"huh?"

"Nothing, anyways did you get my chicken sandwich and fries,"

"Here you go, I got something for Rito too when we get home"

"Thanks!"

Meanwhile back at Dave's house, Rito had just finished mowing the lawn, though lawn isn't the word he would have used, overgrown patch of dead grass and weeds suited it better Though it wasn't that surprising to him with his uncle being gone a good portion of the year, the house wasn't exactly in the greatest condition. It was now about 3:30 PM, "Huh, Lala should be back by now" he thought. "I better call her,"

He began dialing the number when the GMC truck came around the corner, only as he saw it wasn't Carlos in the driver seat.

"LALA, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" Rito yelled as she got out of the truck.

"Rito, please I can explain," Lala said.

"NO, YOU CAN'T YOU'VE…"

Carlos then open the passenger side door, Rito could see all the cuts and bruises on his legs "Dude, I think you're going to want to hear her out."

"Jeez, What in the world happened to you?" Rito asked.

"I'll explain just help me inside"

They went inside Rito's uncle's house, after much going back between Carlos and Lala, Rito got a picture of what happened.

"Ok so let me get this straight, one of Lala's rouge marriage candidates found us here and attacked Carlos, thinking he was me, then you ,Lala, had to drive him back" Rito said, trying to process the story.

" Sorry for getting you involved in our 'family problems' Carlos," Rito said. "you don't need to go to a doctor or anything, that gash looks pretty bad"

"Well if it's not too much trouble there's a clinic down the road, I can just say I tripped and fell at home onto some metal or something…"

Lala then interrupted "actually I might have something that might help, I'll be right back" she then ran off to the bedroom.

"This can never end well" Rito said to Carlos.

"So what made you want to marry an alien girl?" Carlos said sarcastically with a grin.

"umm…"

"She just suddenly appeared in your shower and you thought, gotta get me some of that!"

Rito's face turned red. "She just had to mention that part!," He thought.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help myself! That's hilarious!" Carlos said laughingly.

Lala then returned with a plastic spray bottle of something with Japanese writing on it. "This will clear your cuts and scrapes right up!"

"Umm...Lala, that's some hairspray you bought from back home" Rito said, puzzled.

"What?! No, not hair spray, that'll burn my cut!"

"It's not hair spray guys, it's just the bottle," Lala then turned to Rito, "Remember a few days before we left I went to go say goodbye to Mikado-sensei and Oshizu-chan, well Mikado-sensei gave me this, it's an outer space medicine, it's extremely hard to find as it's made from a very rare plant, the smallest amount can heal almost any injury in seconds! Mikado-sensei gave it to me in case either of us got hurt out and couldn't make it to an earth doctor here. I just put it in the bottle just in case Zastin would check my bag for any 'alien things' I'm not supposed to have."

She then passed the bottle to Carlos.

"So this stuff is basically an alien medicine that works instantly and heals at same time, is it going to sting?"

"Just a little" Lala said "remember you should only need one spray for it to work"

Carlos then proceeded to spray himself on his wound, at first nothing happened.

"well, that was useless -OWWWWWW!" within seconds there was no sign of any injury on his thigh.

"Wow that's amazing," Carlos said as he was able to stand up now "it's like there was nothing there to begin with! By the way, Hey Lala, you never told Rito your good news"

"Oh yeah, I got a job!"

"You…. Got a job? When? Where?" Rito said looking surprised.

"The place where Carlos and me got the food, I start tomorrow!"

"Wait, you just walked in there, and they gave you a job? Just like that?"

"I'm as shocked as you are man." Carlos said.

"The manager was very sweet, he kind reminded me of our old school principal. He said this would be perfect for me and I was exactly the type of person they were looking for!," She said innocently.

"That explains it, he's a perverted creep just like the principal" Rito thought.

"Well I better get going, my dad's got to go to work soon and if I'm not home to watch Nina, my Mom will yell at me, for like the millionth time. See ya guys"

"See ya"

"Bye Carlos!"

He walked out the door. The two of them were now sitting alone in the living room.

"Well I think things are starting to look up for us, don't ya say, Rito." Lala said cheerfully.

So yeah that's Chapter 3!, It was a more of a bridge chapter to the next one, chapter 4 IMO is more interesting as it introduces our 4th main character, Once again thanks for all your support everyone, like I said planning to have chapter 4 out before the end of the year, just have to edit and spell check once i get the time. :).
