Janet came down the next morning to see the house was cleaned up and just the way it was before last night's scare. Brett was behind her along with Thor who had made a full recovery but Janet was not too sure she could relax.

"Morning Janet.", Theo said pleasantly as he came from around a corner, "How did you sleep?"

Janet flinched, but recovered just as fast.

"Well, I'm still a little scared after…you know."

Theo nodded understandingly.

"Yeah, Ted wasn't exactly what you thought was he?"

Janet sighed.

"I just wanted to help him, but I had no idea he was a werewolf."

Theo put a hand on Janet's shoulder.

"Hey, you did the right thing."

Brett tapped Theo's arm gaining his attention.

"Theo, can you make breakfast for us?", he asked.

Theo smiled.

"I'd love to."

Thor looked Theo's way as he passed and barked once as if to say thanks.

"Theo, are you sure Thor's going to be okay?", Janet asked nervously, "Ted may have scratched him pretty bad, but did he-"

"Thor is fine.", Theo told her comfortingly, "Ted didn't bite him so no curse."

Janet felt a bit better as Theo walked into the kitchen and started preparing breakfast. Thor was looking okay and didn't show anything out of the ordinary. Soon the family was having their breakfast of omelets and orange juice while Thor ate his usual kibble.

"So Theo, those things last night?", Janet asked cautiously.

"Something vile and not to be taken lightly.", Theo said gravely making Brett tense.

"Does that explain why Uncle Ted vanished?", Brett asked.

Theo shook his head.

"No, he's obviously working for someone which would kind of explain why he's been hounding me since I got to this realm."

"Who might that be?", Janet asked.

Theo sighed.

"I don't know, but luckily Ted learned his lesson and won't show his face around these parts again."

Brett almost dropped his silverware.

"What if he does?"

Theo grinned.

"He can't. While I fixed up your house, I put a special barrier to keep any "unwanted guests" away."

Ted barely avoided another sharp projectile as he tried very hard to ignore the pain he was in while the entity in the shadows continued to yell.

"Imbecile!"

Ted was really hoping he could've been in his werewolf form, but no luck and was trying really hard to explain himself.

"I know I screwed up, but it wasn't-"

He was cut off as a sharp rock almost hit him on the side if he hadn't jumped out of the way.

"I allow you a chance to murder your family, I provide you the support to finally take down Theo, and what do you do?! You lose a valuable dice that would provide Theo an advantage we can't afford!"

Ted looked unsure.

"I thought you wanted Theo to find the dice.", he said trying to act peaceful.

Unfortunately for him, that is something whatever he was talking to didn't want to hear. He next minute, the room lit up allowing Ted a visual of something resembling a huge spider but with no face, no fangs, and looking like it was made out of rotten flesh. Its head opened to reveal a single bright light which almost made Ted blind.

"If you had lost the other dice, I would have you killed before you even got here.", Ted heard in his head, "And I do not tolerate your failure."

Ted tensed as the dogs nearby looked ready to pounce.

"I'm already giving you a decent five-minute head start.", the entity told Ted mentally, "I suggest you take it!"

That was all Ted had to hear cause he turned and bolted away before the entity turned to the dogs.

"Get him!"

The dogs chased after Ted as the entity slunk back into the shadows.

"Five minutes, five seconds, it's all the same to me."

After breakfast, Janet was in the car driving Theo into town with Brett and Thor along for the ride.

"Mom, does he really have to go?", Brett asked sadly, "I like him."

Theo looked Brett's way soothingly.

"Hey, I'll always be here.", he told Brett, "Besides, you've got Thor here and I doubt anybody is going to get close you with him around."

Janet pulled up to a bus station and parked. After Theo got out, he noticed Thor rubbing up on his leg so he paused to give the German shepherd a rub on the head.

"Thanks for being there for them Thor.", Theo said though he doubted the dog heard him, "You know, your name kind of reminds me of a friend of mine's dog I met a while ago."

"Guess Thor is going to miss you too.", Janet said as she hugged Theo, "Be careful out there."

Theo nodded as Janet and Thor parted from him.

"Don't worry about it, I got a team with me."

Just then, a breeze came in and a newspaper caught on Theo's leg which he retrieved and saw an ad.

"Assistant intern needed. Report to Clayton Software for application.", Theo read before noticing the address and phone number then turning to Janet, "Hey, mind giving me a lift somewhere?"

Janet observed the ad and nodded.

"Sure, its not very far from here anyway."

Before Theo knew it, he was back in the car and Janet drove him about three blocks away where a building with "Clayton Software" on one side with some cars parked nearby in the lot. Theo got out and Janet rolled down her window.

"Good luck.", she said.

Thor and Brett both looked encouraging as well as Janet drove off heading for home. Theo took a breath and walked up to the door and knocked.

"It's open.", a voice came from the video entrance phone system.

Theo turned the handle and the door opened.

/

Ted slumped by a tree catching his breath.

"I think I lost them.", he huffed.

He noticed the sun's rays piercing through the shades, but unfortunately when he looked behind him again, he saw the dogs had caught up again.

"Oh give me a break!"

He strained to his feet and was off again, and then he stumbled into the sunlight. The dogs skid to a halt just before they touched the sunlight and Ted smiled.

"Can't get me now."

"Just wait til night falls."

Ted's smile dropped into a look of worry as the dogs slunk away.

"I need to find shelter and fast."

He then noticed a stream nearby which he then went to a took a few gulps to quench his thirst.

"Much better.", he sighed contently.

After his stop, he knew he had to pick up Theo's trail again.

"I am so happy that I have my pants and my vest still.", he muttered as he hurried through the open areas until he caught a whiff of something that made him pause and smile.

"There you are.", he said before he hurried off down the street.

Luckily for him, a passing truck pulled up and the driver looked his way.

"Need a lift buddy?"

Ted nodded.

"Yes, please."

He got into the passenger's side and the driver started driving again.

"Where you off to?"

"Just the next town ahead.", Ted answered, "I'm trying to find somebody who now might be my only hope."

Theo came out of the office a little bit on edge. It was hard enough to actually walk in and ask about the job, but the woman who interviewed him was more than a bit harsh. She was dressed like a professional with her brown hair combed to perfection and her diamond earrings sparkling though her expression was cold as ice and looked like it was made of concrete. She introduced herself as Faye Clayton but her questions were harsh.

"So, you claim to have experience in the working field Mr. Thur?"

Theo tensed.

"Well, I did if you count-"

"It was a yes or no question.", Faye snapped cutting Theo off, "Next question: how good are you at taking orders."

Theo flinched again.

"Very well madam."

Faye raised an eyebrow.

"Final question: can you do things in record time?"

Theo nodded.

"Like lightning."

Faye's eyebrow went back into place as she wrote out what looked like a note and handed it over her desk to him.

"Laura will meet you on your way in. Close the door on the way out."

She turned back to the paperwork she was on as Theo took the note and hurried out. On his way down some halls, some people he assumed were programmers for something were seen packing things and looking upset.

"Make it in a month is what she makes for us., I'm not a magician!"

"The AI program sucks and the project is not even a good enough shot!"

"Forget you Faye! And forget your bonus too!"

Theo felt like he was making a mistake, but then he turned into what looked like an employee lounge where a woman wearing light pants, a pink sweatshirt over a white shirt, and sneakers was reaching into a cabinet over a fish tank with some colorful fish inside. She had blonde hair and when she got out some fish food from the cabinet, she opened the top of the tank to sprinkle in some of the food for the fish. Theo waited til she was on the ground before talking.

"Excuse me, are you Laura?"

The woman turned around and her green eyes met Theo's and she flinched for a bit, but got over it.

"Yeah, I am.", she answered, "Who are you?"

"I'm Theo.", Theo told her, "I'm the new assistant intern. I just started work today."

Laura looked impressed.

"How did you get Faye to hire you?", she asked, "She's not exactly happy with the game we're working on."

Theo raised an eyebrow, but before he could answer, the door nearby opened and a middle-aged man walked out wearing a suit, polished shoes, and a concerned expression on his face. He ran a hand through his combed brown hair as he came in.

"Laura, Faye is having a fit and-"

He paused as he noticed Theo and looked interested.

"Laura, when did we get a new guy?"

"Theo, this is Peter Drummond.", Laura said, "He's overlooking the project."

Peter sighed.

"Which unfortunately is behind schedule now due to our staff resigning. Now we need a new batch. Lucky for us, I've got some files of some with potential candidates."

/

Theo sat at his new desk with the stack of files Peter had given him and the light of his desk lamp made the room feel more than a bit creepy. Theo took out the cards he had and in an instant, Princess, Quinten, and Visitor all appeared.

"What's up Theo?", Quinten asked before looking around, "Geez, this place made that warehouse I fought in look tame."

Visitor waved a tentacled hand and the security cameras went out.

"I don't like being watched.", he telepathically told everyone around him.

"Neither do I.", Princess agreed, "So what brings you here Theo?"

Theo sighed.

"I got a job working for an intern to a company that has a boss with a terrible attitude and her underling wants me to find some new candidates for a video game by tomorrow."

Visitor's eye flashed a bit.

"And that Laura girl?"

"What about her?", Quinten asked, "I think she's pretty nice."

Princess rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, but that Peter guy really rubs me the wrong way."

Quinten nodded.

"Yeah, he seems like a real bully."

"Probably been in the business world too long.", Visitor telepathically said.

Theo then noticed that he hadn't gone through any applications yet, but three stood out. The trio saw them too and were about to agree when they heard the door opening. Quick as a wink, the trio returned to their cards and Theo turned to see Laura coming in.

"Theo, you okay in here?", she asked, "I thought I heard voices."

Theo thought fast.

"Oh, I was..practicing for when we interview the staff I picked out."

/

A bit later, Laura drove Theo to a nearby hotel where they had a room set up (or so Peter had informed them).

"Laura, why are you working for Clayton Software?", Theo asked as Laura helped him get settled.

"I'm just trying to make my mark.", she answered, "Maybe try out some of my ideas."

Theo looked interested.

"Really? What kind of ideas?"

Laura looked a bit nervous.

"Well, I have this Secret Santa idea for a holiday game."

Theo looked amused.

"I like that. I doubt Peter will though, he's always talking about how the world is mean, cruel, and messy. But I think there is good in the world. You just need to know where to look."

Now Laura looked impressed.

"Wow, are you sure you weren't some kind of therapist or something before you came?"

"I just say it like it is.", Theo told her before yawning, "We should hit the hay."

Laura agreed and after a quick good-night, she retired to her own bed in another room while Theo settled into his and was soon out like a light after getting the lights. Outside, the clouds rumbled and some lightning flashed, but no rain fell. Still, the files he had picked out were nearby on the desktop near his bed and the dice box with the creature cards along with the four magic dice were safe beside Theo's pillow. Another ending leading to a new beginning.
