Since I can't really add music to literature I decided to put the names of OST I will be using, so, for better experience I would suggest you to find the track on YouTube and listen while reading!

OST: Modern Warfare 2 – Multiplayer Menu
1 day later…
There was a meeting that was held in the Cykresian parliament, the main topic was who would inherit Vic's throne. Cykresians managed to prevent the Overlord from destroying the kingdom but the price was way too high, both the king and the queen were killed that night. Luckily, their son Tobias wasn't harmed in any way, Mal didn't know if Cykreeus knew about Tobias being their son.
That's why he used his influence as a general to convince the parliamentary to forbid mentioning or even implying that they ever had a son, Mal felt guilty for doing that but he couldn't risk Cykreeus finding out. Knowing him, if he found out, Tobias's life would be in danger.
The Cykreasian beasts were also revived along with the rest of the race, the guardian of the Cykresian emeralds was nominated a day after the race was brought back. His name was Adrian, he was a water type Cykreasian with light blue fur and yellow spirally eyes. The fur on his head wasn't long, it didn't even reach his shoulders, he had 6 quills that were pointed upwards. They weren't long either, barely reaching the top of his head, the ending of these quills faded to yellow. He wore a navy blue t-shirt and black jeans, he was a quite friendly and cheerful guy. He and Vic got along quite well
The discussion was going for a few hours until the decision was finally reached, the parliament even suggested Mal to become a new king but he didn't see himself as fit for that position. Instead, one of Mal's friends who wasn't in the military but was even stronger than him, was elected. His name was Rohan, an earth type Cykreasian. His fur was brown with dark green quills, his fur was considerably longer than the guardian's, his 4 quills reaching his shoulders. He wore a white sweater and blue jeans, he was serious but generally kind and selfless person.
"Welcome aboard, king Rohan!" Mal shook hands with him
As the Cykreasian general Malicious wore his typical light green shoes and purple jeans, now he also wore a olive green sweater. He had a yellow ribbon on the right side of his chest, it symbolized his position as the general.
"Thanks general Malicious, I will make sure Vic and Emily's sacrifice won't be in vain. I promise that not only to you but to all Cykreasians"
A round of applause followed as the new king took on a red cape and a silver crown, the red cape was new because the one that belonged to Vic was half-burned after the fight with Metal Overlord. The reason the cape wasn't completely incinerated was because it was made of special material, Vic's cape was kept in the house Victor and Rachael lived in with Tobias.
One question was solved, but Malicious knew there was a much bigger threat out there
After the deaths of Vic and Emily Mac suggested for Eggman and Cykreeus to attack again and destroy the kingdom, Cykreeus didn't want to do that in order not to provoke Mobotropolitans. They didn't have anyone as strong as the Metal Overlord anymore so the risk was even greater
Instead, Cykreeus created an organization called Black Moon. The main goal of the organization was to overthrow the current king of Cykrease, after that they would use the military and resources of the kingdom in order to conquer Mobotropolis. After they did that they would move on to conquer the entire universe
For now, the structure was quite simple, there were 10 commanders, either Cykreasians or Mobians. Each with their unique powers, Mac was Cykreeus's right-hand man while Cykreeus was the supreme commander
Eggman was the head of the tech department, with his technology he would support the members of the Black Moon. He would provide them weapons, medical care, machines, robots as back up etc.
For now it was an organization working in shadows, they were still gathering their members. Even now they were already quite powerful, however not powerful enough to overthrow an entire kingdom, Cykreeus knew that well.
Various people were joining him for various reasons, some of them joined him for power, some because of fear and some even believed Cykreeus would be a better king than Vic was. Cykreeus would promise them fortune and power once they have conquered Mobius, many of them actually believed him since they weren't on Mobius at the time Cykreeus destroyed Mobotropolis.
Malicious knew they existed, however he couldn't track down their exact location, he guessed their HQ was on either Death Egg or some other locations that were owned by Eggman. Even though he did send his men to provide intel, they haven't returned. From then he knew how dangerous they truly were, since he couldn't pinpoint their location he decided to strengthen his military in order to prepare for anything they may throw at them.
OST: Final Fantasy IX - Terra
As Tobias grew up, he was quite a boisterous and mischievous kid. Both his grandparents needed to keep a close eye on him otherwise he would always run off and they would have to chase him.
That was another issue, Tobias was very fast, especially for his age. In Victor's words, "Even Vic wasn't that fast", they always had a very hard time catching up with him. Tobias would either jump out of the window or run through the open doors if anyone left them open for too long, even Mal sometimes had to teleport in order to stop his nephew from running too far. Victor, who believed in discipline was always quick to reach his belt whenever Tobias acted up. Rachael defended her grandson from him a few times, despite that Victor loved spending time with him, he would usually carry him on his shoulders when going outside. That was until he reached 5 years old, after that he taught him some basics in fighting, in order to prepare for the enrollment in CFA.
Usually, Cykreasian children would attend the Academy from 6 to 10 years old. It was a 4-year fighting course, aside from fighting the children would learn basics in Math, English, History and Geography. The combat training is another subject, it was graded the same way as the other subjects. Combat training consisted not only of teachings about combat itself but practical battles as well, where students had to fight each other in order to improve their fighting moves and the way of using their elements.
The main elements that students possessed were either fire, wind, water, lightning or earth, there were many other sub-elements that were unique and powerful at the same time. Those kids with sub-elements were usually the result of a combination between the parents' different elements, creating various kinds of new fighting moves and techniques.
The teachers were of various types, from relaxed to strict ones. However, they all had one trait in common, they wanted to help their students go above their limits.
10 years have passed since Metal Overlord attacked the kingdom, that day, dubbed "The Overlord Attack" was a very important day in the history of Cykreasians. 3 major events happened on that day: the deaths of King Vicious and Queen Emily, Cykreeus becoming the kingdom's enemy number one and the population of Cykreasians being decreased by 10%.
OST: Sonic Generations Rooftop Run - Modern
It was a sunny day at the Cykrease kingdom, no clouds in the sky, sun rays illuminating the city. It was thriving in life as usual, there was a crowd on the campus of CFA, a lot of students have gathered in front of the main building for some reason. They were all looking at the direction of roof, their reactions were mixed. Some of them were excited to see what was going on, some of them were annoyed because they already guessed while some of them were just bored.
"Man, what is that idiot up to now?" one of the Cykreasian boys said, his name was Alviss
Alviss was a fire type Cykreasian, he had light skin color and light blue spirally eyes. His fur was grey and red, grey on his head with endings on his short quills that faded to red, they were pointed backwards. He wore a black, long-sleeved t-shirt, green jeans and white shoes.
"Well, you know him! He's always the one to start shit! Hahahahah!" another Cykreasian boy answered back
His name was Jake, he was a light-skinned Cykreasian with yellow-blue fur and brown, spirally eyes. The fur on his head was yellow and not long, it went upwards and formed a fade haircut, the top of his strands were colored cobalt blue. Jake wore a dark blue vest, orange pants and black shoes.
Andrew was an aloof and serious individual while Jake was outgoing and cheerful
"I wonder how is this gonna end…" One of the Cykreasian girls thought aloud
A Cykreasian boy was spraying graffiti all over the wall on the roof, the wall was wide and tall so the letters could be easily visible. The spray was red over a white wall, after it was finished it read:
FUCK THE SYSTEM
"Hehehehheh, that's what y'all get for failing me!"
"TOBIAS!"
Tobias turned around to face 2 Cykreasian men dressed in blue jeans and black sweaters, those were the academy proctors
Tobias was now 10 years old, he looked similarly to how he looked as a baby with the exception of wearing an orange vest, black pants and shoes that were pale blue. His hairstyle was also the same he had as a baby, his fur was generally brown with 2 connected quills that stretched downwards from the side of his head and the one on his forehead that were the same color as his shoes.
"It's you again! How many times do we have to teach you a lesson?!" one of the proctors said
Tobias smirked
"Tobias the great, at your service!" he laughed
"Catch me if you caaaan!" was the last thing Tobias said before he jumped
"WHY YOU LITTLE!" the proctors immediately began chasing him
"Hahahahahah! You're just jealous of my sense of style! You just don't have the balls to do what I did!" Tobias mocked them
Tobias was jumping from roof to roof, grabbing on a pole if needed to jump off, when he couldn't reach another roof he jumped off a building and glided on a metal wire until he reached the ground. Then he jumped off and began running on the concrete, passing by other people and vehicles, the proctors were still chasing him.
Meanwhile the other 2 proctors went to his house, where he lived with his grandparents. One of them knocked on the door a few times, after a few seconds Victor opened them while still smoking a cigarette.
The moment he saw them he sighed
"Let me guess, it's Tobias again"
"Yes sir, this time he sprayed graffiti on the academy roof! More precisely, he wrote "FUCK THE SYSTEM" so everyone from nearby can see!"
Victor exhaled the smoke
"Jeez…"
He turned towards his wife once more
"Rachael, I will be back soon" Victor said as he joined the proctors and left
Tobias kept running from the proctors, he went into various corners and jumped over fences, wires, jumped from wall to wall, he went into another corner and vanished. The proctors made it here 5 seconds later but Tobias was nowhere to be seen
"Damn, where'd he go?"
"We lost him again…" the other one said before both of them left
OST: Final Fantasy 11 - Recollection
Meanwhile Tobias was on the roof of that building watching over them with a smirk on his face
When they left he laughed once more
"Hahahahahahah! I got them so good, it was just too easy!"
"Oh really?"
"WHOA!" Tobias stepped back and tripped, causing him to fall off the roof on a pile of boxes
A few seconds later he got out of it, someone teleported in front of him, it was his grandfather Victor
"Huh? What're you doing here grandpa? How'd you even find me?" Tobias questioned with an annoyed look on his face
"Let's just say your little message brought attention not only to the whole student body and proctors but from many people nearby as well, it's a great shame for CFA! This might even end up on news!" Victor scolded him
Tobias just frowned, Victor got triggered, he grabbed his grandson by his vest and dragged him out of the corner
"Ay! Lemme go! Lemme go grandpa!" Tobias tried to break free but to no avail
An hour later they were at home, Tobias was sitting on the table with his grandparents on the other side
Victor sighed
"I can't believe you failed math again! You won't be able to graduate like this! Plus, the principal just called me, I BARELY convinced him not to expel you after your stunt…you will soon start going on missions Tobias, you can't behave like this anymore"
"Well, blame Mr. Trive for failing me for the third time! It's just impossible! His classes really suck, he's an asshole and he thinks we're gonna be some Einsteins!" Tobias talked back
"That's not an excuse…it still doesn't change the fact that if you don't pass Math you won't be able to graduate! Now go to your room, you have another chance tomorrow and you better pass!" Victor ordered
Tobias had no choice but to do as he was told, he stood up and went upstairs to his room
OST: Eternal Sonata – Silence and Life
3 hours later, Tobias felt so tired he almost dropped his head on the book. He looked at the digital clock near him, it said 21:35
"Damn, if I don't pass this shit tomorrow old man's gonna kill me!" Tobias sighed as he stood up and went to his bed, he laid on his back and stared at the ceiling
A minute later he heard knocking coming from his right side, he stood up and moved towards the window. He immediately spotted his best friend Jake standing on a stone pillar he created with his earth element, Tobias immediately opened the window to greet his friend
"Hey Jake, what's up?"
"Hey man, you wanna hang out? I don't really have much to do" Jake said
"Well, my grandparents are probably asleep so why not?" Tobias said as he jumped out of the window on the pillar, Jake decreased the pillar until they reached the ground
"Heh, that was some crazy shit you did today bro!" Jake said
"Yeah, I almost got expelled. I think gramps was on verge of pulling his belt on me" Tobias said, he remembered that belt being used on him many times when he didn't behave
"Yeah…your grandpa is quite scary…" Jake said, he knew him as well
"So, what you wanna do?" Tobias asked
"There are some of Eggman's robots nearby, wanna smash em?"
"Sure thing, I would use some action after 3 hours of sitting…"
Even though Eggman was working in shadows until now, there were still Eggman's robots that could be seen in the outskirts of the kingdom. Tobias didn't live too far from the outskirts so it was no problem for him to train there, after he agreed he asked Jake to grab on to him so they could get there faster.
Jake grabbed Tobias's arm, sparks started emitting from Tobias as his eyes glowed. Suddenly he sped forward, only leaving a flash of pale blue behind him
OST: Sonic Adventure – Egg Mobile (Egg Hornet)
When they got there, there were already a bunch of Eggman's robots walking around
Tobias smirked and powered up, as he did turquoise lines started coursing throughout his entire body, from his toes to his head. When they reached his eyes they started glowing in the same color as the lines
"Now this is gonna be a good workout!"
Tobias was born with an ancient Cykreasian power, the power called "The Cykreasian Gates"
The Cykreasian gates were basically power-boosts that would grant the user a dramatic increase in both strength and speed, however it was a double-edged sword. Whenever those gates were activated the user's stamina would drain just as much more stamina compared to his or her base form, not only that but when the user's stamina got exhausted his strength would be cut in half and he wouldn't use any energy attacks in another 10 minutes.
There were 5 gates that could be opened: Blue Gate, Yellow Gate, Purple Gate, White Gate and Black Gate
The Blue Gate was the first one, when opened the user's strength and speed would be increased by two times compared to his base form. However it would also drain his stamina just as much
The Yellow Gate was the second one, when opened it was the similar increase and drawback as the blue one but it was even more, by three times
The Purple Gate was the third one, strength and speed X4, even more stamina decrease
The final gate was The White Gate, strength and speed X5, even more stamina decrease
There was also a gate that didn't function like the others, its name was The Black gate. The Black Gate powered the user based on his negative emotions (rage, grief, hatred, sorrow etc.), while it didn't drain stamina it contained another, far greater risk. If the user indulged himself too much in those emotions the Black Gate would take over his mind and destroy it, resulting in permanent madness.
The user could increase his stamina through training so he or she could last longer in the gate that was activated, however the inability to use energy attacks for 10 minutes afterwards would still remain.
The color of the lines that would cover the user from toe to head depended on the gate that was opened, blue lines for blue gate, yellow lines for yellow gate etc.
There were 2 preliminary requirements that needed to be fulfilled in order to be born with it, the first one was for the infant to be born with the combination of the 2 same elements from his parents, the second one was to be born with a pure heart.
Vic and Emily were both lightning types and had a pure heart, so Tobias breezed through the requirements
Even if an infant met those requirements, the chances of him or her getting those powers were 1 in 100. They were chosen by the Cykreasian Gods, according to Vitiosus (who was revived along with the other Cykreasian beasts), Tobias was the 10th Cykreasian in their history that proved compatible for the Cykreasian Gates.
Tobias stepped into the blue gate, he was trained enough to use it, he had experience so he could handle himself.
"Let's go!" Jake proclaimed as he crouched and touched the ground, he raised his hands again to bring out a few massive boulders. Afterwards he kicked one of them at his robotic enemies and successfully destroyed a few of them, meanwhile Tobias rushed towards a bunch of them and destroyed them with a single kick. He looked back and saw another few, he extended his arm and spread his palm, a lightning bolt erupted from it and went towards the robots. It electrocuted them when it made contact causing them to explode a few seconds later, after that he jumped in the air, curled into a ball and started spinning forward. He charged his energy until he became covered in lightning, a turquoise aura surrounding him
"Lightning meteor!" Tobias proclaimed before he suddenly dashed full speed towards the robot and crashed into them, causing a large explosion to occur. After the dust cleared there was 10 meters of burnt area around Tobias, there were even some small flames
One of the robots tried to sneak attack him from behind but Tobias engulfed his palm in lightning and pierced the robot through it's torso, deactivating it immediately. He brought his arm out and the robot fell on the ground
A few of them also ambushed him from all sides but Tobias spread his legs and extended his arms to the side. He created an electric force field that electrocuted the robots when they touched it and knocked them back a few meters, making them explode.
"You done Jake?" Tobias looked behind him and saw Jake who was rock-surfing towards him
"Yep, that's all of 'em!" Jake said before the two friends bro-fisted
OST: Eternal Sonata – Your circumstances
"You ran off again huh?"
Tobias turned at the sudden new voice and saw his uncle looking at them
"Hey uncle Mal! What're you doing here?" Tobias asked
"I was coming back from work when I sensed your energy, and found you here training in the middle of the night. You sure are full of energy, but you should be in bed, you have an exam tomorrow" Mal said
"Yeah. Actually I wasn't tired so I decided to wear myself out so I can sleep better y'know, plus I was studying 3 hours before this! Also grandpa almost sliced my ass after he found out I failed…"
Malicious couldn't help but chuckle, he knew his father had a temper
Tobias yawned
"But yeah, I'm tired now."
He turned to Jake
"Sorry Jake, gotta go now. If grandpa finds out I sneaked out he's gonna kill me!"
"It's alright, I gotta go to. My mom should be coming back now, see ya!" Jake said before he started earth-surfing again towards the distance
"Let's go Tobias"
Tobias nodded before he and his uncle made their way towards their home
Here's another chapter out of the way! This one was considerably shorter than the last one, mainly because there weren't too many things that needed to be explained. As I said in the last chapter, the main bulk of the story starts from this chapter. You can expect a lot of interesting things occurring from now on
Also, the Cykreasian Gates are a reference to Might Guy's 8 inner gates, however as you can read in the chapter there are quite noticeable differences.
