Hook, Line, and Screamer
It was a new day in the Playa des losers resort. The room was filled with the noise of an alarm clock. The blonde woman on the bed turned it off. It was the third time she did that today.
"That was awesome. I really needed to sleep in a bed again," said Lindsay with a big smile.
It was past 10:00 a.m. On the island, Heather would wake Lindsay up more than one hour ago to help her with everything. Bring her water, do her nails, and brush her hair.
"Now that I think about it, I was more a maid than a friend," said Lindsay, putting a finger under her chin.
Three knocks on her door made her get out of her thoughts. Lindsay was startled but after a moment, stood up and opened it.
"Hello?" said Lindsay, tilting her head.
"Good Morning Linds," said Beth waving her hand. She then gasped, entered the room, and closed the door. "Girl, why are you opening the door dressed like that?"
"Because I just woke up."
Beth rolled her eyes. "No, I mean wearing THAT pajama."
Lindsay was wearing a pink camisole crop top and shorts.
"I just told you, because I just woke up, and this is the pajama I wore last night," Lindsay replied slowly, hoping her friend understood her this time.
"That pajama is too skimpy. You should at least ask who is knocking on the door before opening it. What if it was one of the boys?" asked Beth in a stern, mother-like tone.
Lindsay chuckled. "Ooooh! Now I get it. Yes you're right. It could be a really embarrassing situation."
"I'm glad you understand."
"Now help me choose what I'll be wearing today," Lindsay opened her suitcase and took out two dresses. "Should I go with something green and fresh or something black and more sophisticated?
Beth shook her head and looked at her friend with wide eyes. "Neither! Linds, we're supposed to wear the same outfit we used during the show."
"Eh? Really?" asked Lindsay, frowning.
"Yes, that's why production provided us with many identical outfits," said Beth, putting her hands on her hips.
Lindsay opened the closet, and as Beth said, it was filled with red tank tops, brown vests, orange skirts, cowboy boots, and blue bandanas.
"Oh," Lindsay groaned disappointedly, "none of these are the same as my clothes, they're all knockoffs. Look, the skirts are from a brand called Guchi."
"I guess the show didn't have enough budget to buy brand clothes," said Beth, shrugging.
"I know, but at least buy a knockoff that makes sense. Instead of Guchi it should be brada or qrada," said Lindsay folding her arms, still frowning.
Beth covered her mouth and chuckled. "Hehehe, you're right. At least they should buy the right knockoffs."
"Totally, in the end, those small details count a lot," said Lindsay while changing her clothes. "I think I'll try the knockoffs, only to see if they're as good as the real deal."
"Go for it," said Beth making a wide smile. "Also I need your advice."
Lindsay made a wide smile while putting on her top, "Really? I love to give advice! It's about make-up? Nails? Please tell me is it about your hair?"
"What's wrong with my hair?" asked Beth pulling her ponytail.
"I think you would be a lot cuter with a bun or maybe twin tails," Lindsay clapped happily.
"Twin tales, eh? Maybe it's a good idea," said Beth with a small smile and then shook her head. "NO! It's not about my hair. It's about rejecting a friend."
Lindsay looked at her with wide eyes. "WHAT!? Pleaaaase start from the beginning."
"There is this guy that fell in love with me," said Beth blushing. "Being honest I also give him mixed signals. I kinda kissed him when he was eliminated…"
"Oh my gosh, Beth!" Lindsay screeched and began to clap, "why didn't you tell me?"
Beth began to twiddle her fingers. "I wanted, but I didn't want Heather to find out, and I ran out of time."
"Don't worry, I understand," said Lindsay waving her hand but then putting on a thoughtful expression. "But you said you want to reject him, right? Why?"
"I think I just did it in the spur of the moment and didn't really want to do it," said Beth looking at the ground. "But I don't want to ruin our friendship, so I want to come clear as soon as possible, but I don't know how."
Lindsay smiled. "Just tell him."
"Tyler gave me the same advice, but I can't find the moment. He's always with someone else," Beth sighed, looking at the ceiling.
"TYLER! I want to see him, so let's go to eat breakfast," said Lindsay tying her bandana around her hair. "And about your problem, just tell him you want to talk with him alone."
Beth pouted. "But he may think I want to talk about his feelings."
"And you want to talk, remember?" Lindsay winked, making a charming smile. "Just tell him you need his help with something, so he doesn't create expectations."
"Wow Lindsay, that's really smart. You should have a lot of experience rejecting people," said Beth, awed by her friend.
"Haha, actually I don't have that much experience," said the blond girl. "so let's go. We can talk on our way to the cafeteria."
Lindsay opened the door, and smoke immediately filled the room. "Cough, cough, what is happening?"
Beth covered her mouth. "I don't know, but we need to evacuate the building quickly."
Lindsay blanched, but thankfully there was no emergency. Beth, Lindsay, and the others evacuated the building without any issue before finding the only damage was on their breakfast.
Bridgette went to the resort's pool, where she met three unexpected people. She wasn't exactly friends with any of them, but that didn't stop her. Bridgette was a friendly person by nature.
"Good morning," she said smiling and waving.
Trent and Cody turned to look at her, waving back. Sadie, who was in the pool, kept swimming laps without returning the greeting.
"Wow, someone is really focused," said Bridgette, sitting on the beach chair next to Trent.
"Sadie's training, trying to get a better condition before the show's end," said Cody, who stole some looks from the blonde girl.
Trent looked at a watch in his hand. "That's 10 laps Sadie, well done. You improved your time in 3 whole seconds."
"That's *huff* like great…" Sadie swam toward the border, huffing and puffing. She forced a smile when she noticed the newcomer. "Hello Bridgette, I didn't see you."
"Hello Sadie, how unusual to see you without Katie," said Bridgette, offering Sadie a hand to help her climb out of the pool.
"Thanks, but I want to stay like this a little longer," said Sadie raising a hand and smiling. "And Katie is right now working out with Eva."
Bridgette felt a shiver run down her spine when she heard that name. Yes she was on better terms with the strongest girl in the cast, but she was still afraid of her.
"Ok, but if you need help just let me know," Bridgette went back to her chair.
"And you? I was sure you would be with Courtney," said Sadie, moving her legs slowly.
Cody nodded. "That's true. It's been a while since I saw that sexy mocha skin."
"Haha, I wouldn't call her that in her face. She's quite sensitive about her looks," said Bridgette making a small smile. "And Courtney's probably hunting Harold. She still can't forgive him after he cheated her out of the island."
"That's sad," said Trent looking at the pool. "She could enjoy the resort much more if she wasn't focusing on revenge."
Bridgette shrugged. "She's being stubborn because she hasn't caught him yet. After a couple of slaps, punches, kicks … and maybe some elbow drops, she'll forgive him and forget about everything."
"Then it'll be fine," said Trent in a snarky tone. "I mean if Harold survives."
"Trent, don't underestimate how much punishment a man can endure from a sexy lady," said Cody while making finger guns.
"Ugh Cody," groaned Sadie and Trent, frowning.
"That was uncalled," said Bridgette, also frowning.
Cody raised his hands defensibly. "It was a joke dudes, just a joke."
Before the four could keep discussing Cody's 'joke,' two former gophers walked by the pool.
"Hello Trenton, Cobe, Sandra, and Beverly," said Lindsay, waving joyfully.
"Hello everyone," said Beth, who then blushed, "also hello Cody."
"Hi," said everyone, confused by Lindsay's naming sense.
"Are you also running away from the smoke?" asked Beth, pointing at the resort.
Sadie rolled her eyes. "Ugh, I can't believe that intern burned the breakfast like that. It was only fried eggs, even I can make fried eggs."
"Oh c'mon, cut Martha some slack," said Cody, winking. "working as an intern must be hard."
"You're right, but last night she also burned the dinner," said Trent, folding his arms. "I mean, nobody is perfect but she should be more careful."
Sadie nodded. "Also, she didn't sweep the hallways, which are really slippery with the dust."
The ex-contestants then heard a scream coming from the hallway and someone crashing against a wall.
"Why me?" asked Noah while groaning in pain.
"Maybe we should help her sweep the hallways, at least for our own good," said Bridgette making a strained smile.
Cody nodded, lowering his frown. "You're right, but doing Martha's job may get her in trouble, no? Because the show is paying her to do that job."
"Are interns paid?" asked Sadie with wide eyes.
The six former contestants looked at each other. It was better to not think about it.
"So let's sweep the hallways," said Beth enthusiastically. "At least to make sure we don't get hurt."
"Well, if a lady slips on my watch, I would be more than happy to catch her," said Cody waggling his eyebrows.
Sadie looked at him with wide eyes. "Are you serious?"
"Yes, all girls deserve a little part of the … Codemeister," Cody made a dramatic pause before slowly pointing at his body.
"Including Eva?" Sadie's expression didn't change.
Cody gulped and then forced a smile. "O-Of course, even Eva deserves some Codlove," he then winked. "Also I'm sure she would send me to the hospital quickly and not too painfully."
Everyone laughed, looking at her chance Beth took a deep breath and got near the brunette boy.
"Hey Cody … I need to talk with you IN private," whispered Beth, looking at the ground. "Can we meet tonight at nine?"
"Of course Beth, it's ok if we meet here?" asked Cody, his smile disappearing.
Beth nodded, not noticing his expression. "Great, see you then."
Bridgette, Trent, and Sadie were watching them, so Lindsay decided to distract them.
"Hey Beverly!" Lindsay sat next to Trent, hugging his arm. "Trenton and I were wondering if you could teach us how to surf."
"Eh? W-We were?" asked Trent, blushing at the sudden hug from Linds.
Bridgette made a wide smile. "Of course, I would love to teach you. And my name is Bridgette."
"Hehehe, of course it is," said Lindsay waving her hand. "And you Sandra? Want to come."
Sadie pouted. "I'm not sure. I need to work out."
"C'mon, surfing is a great way to work out, and it's really fun," said Bridgette offering her a hand. "Just come with me."
"Ok, I guess if it's work out, then it's fine," said Sadie, holding the blonde girl's hand and climbing out of the pool.
"Then let's go!" said Lindsay, jumping.
"Hey! We're also coming, right Beth?" said Cody, following the rest of the group.
Beth ran behind him. "Of course."
The six went to the beach and took some lessons from Bridgette. Lindsay's plan worked perfectly, and they had a great time during the afternoon. It was a shame Tyler wasn't there.
That night Cody arrived 10 minutes late to the pool, but at least he was there before Beth, he felt a knot in his stomach, but this was something he needed to do.
After some minutes, he heard someone walking closer.
"Hello, I was waiting for you," said Cody smiling.
"Of course you did, as everyone. But sorry you aren't my type."
Cody blushed when he realized the person wasn't Beth but Justin.
"Sorry, I thought you were someone else," said Cody blushing.
"Did you really mistake me for someone else?" Justin ran a hand through his hair. "I doubt there is someone who looks remotely as me in the whole show."
"No, no one is as good-looking as you," said Cody crossing his arms.
Justin winked, "so you're waiting for someone else? Maybe a girl?"
"What? No," Cody panicked, blushing a lot. "Well, actually it's a girl, but it's not what you think."
"Relax dude. I don't judge you. If someone meets your fancy it's normal to make your move," said Justin, making finger guns. "So, who is the lucky girl? Bridgette? Courtney? Or maybe Lindsay?"
"Hey, all of them have boyfriends," said Cody, frowning.
The male model shrugged, "And? Love isn't set in stone, so nothing stops you from trying. It's not as if you were friends with any of their boyfriends."
"Anyway, it's none of them. It's Beth," said Cody, rubbing his neck.
"Beth?" Justin tilted his head. "Yes, she's single. I understand why you are trying to get her."
"I told you it isn't like that," Cody blushed, folding his arms. "And what is exactly what you understand?"
Justin smiled. "I mean exactly that. Beth is nice, smart, and has really good taste. I think it fits a guy like you."
"A guy like me?" asked Cody, not sure if he was insulting him.
"Yes a guy like you," Justin's smile sparkled. "Well I'll take my leave, I don't want to interrupt your big night."
"I told you it isn't like that," shouted Cody as Justin walked away.
The model nodded. "Yes, I understand. Ta-dah."
Cody sighed, Justin was a weird guy, but somehow he enjoyed their small conversations. Only that Cody wasn't sure if he was mean or just weird and if he meant what he said about Beth. Anyway, he didn't have time to think about it. He needed to wait for his friend; luckily, they would remain friends after tonight.
The next day Lindsay entered the cafeteria. In contrast with yesterday, she was alone. Inside the room were Trent and Ezekiel, eating some bread. While she could hear some screams from the kitchen.
"DAMN CHEAP STOVE! WHY DOES EVERYTHING BURN SO QUICKLY!" shouted the small intern, kicking the stove.
"Hello Trenton and …" Lindsay looked at Zeke, unsure if they had met before. "I think we met before. Did you work as an errand boy in the mall's boutique?"
Zeke raised an eyebrow. "Eh? NO! I never had a part-time before," he then smiled and crossed his arms like a rapper. "And Yoyoyo, you're meeting the man with the plan, the rhyme slinger singer, the proponent of the moment, DA ZEKE!"
Trent tried to not laugh while Lindsay looked at him with a frown.
"Sorry I never hear from you. But I'm Lindsay, nice to meet you Dazeck," said Lind making a wonderful smile. "By the way, have any of you seen Tyler today?"
"It's THE ZEKE, no dazeck," said Ezekiel pouting.
"And no, I haven't seen Tyler…" Trent was interrupted by a huge flash of fire coming from the kitchen.
"STUPID STOVE, NOW IT STOPPED WORKING!" shouted Martha. Her high-pitched voice was followed by her kicking the stove again.
"What is her problem?" asked Lindsay, wincing with each kick.
"I'm not sure," said Trent, shrugging.
Zeke nodded. "She had been like that since yesterday, only that yesterday was with the vacuum cleaner."
"Maybe we should try to help her?" asked Lindsay.
As she talked, a metallic grill flew out of the kitchen, almost hitting her head.
"I think it's better to leave her alone," said Trent, looking at the kitchen with wide eyes.
Zeke and Lindsay nodded. It was for the best to just leave her alone. After talking some more, Lindsay took her breakfast, trying to not annoy the intern.
After the problems in the kitchen, lunch was served on the pool, with the contestants grilling their food. Most of them left after eating. In the end, only Noah and Eva remained next to the pool. She was lifting her dumbbells while he was reading, both wearing their swimsuits. Eva wore a navy blue one-piece swimsuit and Noah wore red and blue trunks with a white t-shirt.
"Are you really so afraid of the sun that you need to wear a t-shirt like a chump?" asked Eva, smirking.
Noah raised an eyebrow, "leaving aside your unprovoked aggression, yes, even if I love the painful sensation of sunburns, I prefer to keep them to a minimum."
Eva scoffed. "I can't believe you always have a silly answer to any question."
"It's called a gift," replied Noah in a snarky tone. "And where did you leave your best friends forever? Usually you're inseparable."
"Pigtails one is helping pigtails two with her training. They think that with some practice and determination, she can keep up with my morning workout before the show's end," said Eva while pulling her dumbbells.
Noah groaned. "That sounds like hard work. And you think she can do it?"
"I don't know, and I don't care," Eva huffed and shrugged. "But it's a free country, so they can waste their time if they want."
"That sounds so friendly," said Noah smiling. "At least you're honest."
Eva raised an eyebrow, "Are you praising me? I thought you could only insult other people."
"I'm only telling the truth. You can interpret it in any way you want," replied Noah, smirking.
"You would be a lot more tolerable if you didn't have a smart comeback to every conversation," said Eva while smirking.
Noah also smirked. "Yes because a summer…" he then shut up and shrugged, "You know something? You're right."
Eva and Noah chuckled as Cody walked toward them, waving. Both rolled their eyes.
"Wow, Eva and Noah, that's two people I didn't expect to see together."
Eva sighed while Noah deadpanned at the person sitting next to them.
"Well, we talk more often than not," said Noah shrugging. "And you? how weird you aren't with your friends Justin and Trent."
"Trent was on the beach with Bridgette learning to surf, while Justin went to the sauna. So I wanted to come to swim a little and also see if Beth was around here," said Cody making a big smile.
Eva scoffed. "No one has come around the pool in the last hours, so your nerdy girlfriend isn't around here."
"I thought you would talk with her about that," asked Noah raising an eyebrow.
"It's a work in progress," said Cody rubbing his neck. "I don't want to hurt her."
Eva scowled. "Are you rejecting her?"
"More or less, I just want to tell her that I consider her a good friend and nothing more…" Cody stood silent and sighed, "but I don't want to hurt her."
"That's stupid. I don't know the first thing about dating, but even I know these things need to be stopped sooner than later," said Eva in a harsh tone.
Noah nodded. "I told him the same thing."
"I know, I know, but it isn't that easy," Cody replied, sighing. Then someone walked toward them, waving her hand.
"Hello, Edna, Cory, and Bert," said Lindsay waving.
Eva rolled her eyes again, Noah scowled at her, and Cody waved friendly.
"Bert, really? You didn't get even one letter of my name right," said Noah, sounding more annoyed than usual.
Cody patted his shoulder. "C'mon Noah don't get angry. It wasn't on purpose."
"Yes, I swear I didn't want to bother you," said Lindsay in a mortified tone.
"Whatever," said Eva, who was pulling her dumbells again. "I'm EVA, and the guy throwing a tantrum about his name is Noah." The Indian guy glared at her but didn't say anything.
Lindsay nodded and smiled. "Eva and Noel, I got it."
"I guess that's the closest we will ever be," said Noah, shrugging.
"Hey Eva, why you didn't tell her my name?" asked Cody, furrowing his brows.
"Because I don't care about you," said Eva in a neutral voice.
Cody sighed. "Well, thanks for your sincerity."
"By the way, have any of you seen Tyler? I'm looking for him," asked Lindsay tilting her head.
"No," said the three of them.
Lindsay groaned. "Oh, I can't find him! We're probably looking for each other and missing all the time."
"If I see him I'll tell him you're looking for him," said Cody, waggling his eyebrows.
"Oh, thanks Cory, you're a great guy!" said Lindsay hugging him.
Noah and Eva gagged at the scene while Cody blushed like a tomato.
"By the way," said Cody, who had a goofy smile. "Have you seen Beth?"
"No, I haven't," Lindsay shook her head. "I saw her last night when she went to talk with you about her feelings. Ups!" The blonde girl covered her mouth.
"Her feelings?" asked Cody, flabbergasted by Lindsay's words.
Lindsay shook her head. "Please, don't ask anymore. I promised to keep what she told me a secret."
"And you suck at keeping secrets," said Eva, chuckling.
"I think it's more Beth's fault for trusting her," said Noah in a snarky tone.
Cody glared at them, "Guys, please don't joke about this," he then turned toward Lindsay. "Don't worry, I won't ask you anymore. But I was waiting for her, and she never came up. I'm afraid she may have listened to me talking with Justin and ran away. Can you tell her I'm looking for her?"
"No problem, but you also tell Tyler I'm looking for him," said Lindsay making a big smile. "I´ll go to look into the gym. See you later."
"Bye" said Cody, waving at her. Eva and Noah also waved but without enthusiasm.
"So you were badmouthing her with Justin," said Eva in a harsher tone than usual.
Cody blanched and shook his head. "No, I just told him my feelings for Beth weren't like that. But maybe she overheard and was upset because I don't like her like that."
"Well, as eavesdroppers never hear any good of themselves, so you can only do so much if she's offended," said Noah, shrugging.
"But I didn't want to hurt her," said Cody looking at the ground.
Noah smirked, "Then stop sitting there and go look for her. I'm sure it will be easier to find her if you actually try."
"You're right!" said Cody, jumping off his chair. "If you see hear told her to wait here."
And without waiting for an answer, Cody ran toward the resort.
"I can't believe you have a nice side," said Eva, chuckling.
"I try to do a good deed every year," Noah shrugged and lay again on his chair. "Even if I have done more than enough this year for the next 4 or 5 years. I wonder why I'm so noble?"
Eva laughed, and both kept talking, having an afternoon more enjoyable than any of them expected.
On the beach, the other 4 contestants were talking together after surfing all day.
"It's a shame we can't ride more waves. This hobby was becoming one of my faves," said Zeke moving his arms like rapping.
"That was ugly and lame," said Justin, squinting at the homeschooled.
Trent chuckled. "It wasn't so bad. I think Zeke can improve if he tries smaller sentences and focuses less on rhyming and more on the message."
"But Homie, rapping is all about the rhymes, not rhyming is the worst of crimes," said Zeke, forcing another rhyme.
"Why did you invite him?" whispered Justin, trying not to frown.
Trent made a sad smile. "He insisted after I said I would practice some surfing with Bridgette, and he was so eager that I didn't have the heart to stop him."
Justin rolled his eyes, causing Trent to frown at the model.
"Really, you arrived late and now will complain because we invited another person?" asked the musician.
"I wasn't late. I just stopped briefly in the sauna before coming. You came here too early," said Justin, smiling.
Before Trent could answer, Bridgette arrived after a quick shower to clean her hair from salt water.
"Well guys, we can go and have dinner," said Bridgette making a big smile. "I just hope Martha didn't destroy the kitchen."
Zeke nodded, "that girl is really bad with her tools. This afternoon after breaking the stove, she also broke one of the cafeteria screens."
"How did she break a screen more than 12 feet over the ground?" asked Trent, raising an eyebrow.
"I guess she just has a gift to break things," said Bridgette in a playful tone.
The guys laughed, especially Zeke, who was the loudest.
"It's a shame the other gals couldn't join us," said Zeke, looking at the ground.
"I invited most of them. Katie and Sadie went to the gym for some secret training, Lindsay was looking for Tyler and Eva … let's say Eva didn't want to come," said Bridgette enumerating everyone.
Zeke nodded. "And I guess Courtney is still trying to catch Harold, eh?. Poor guy, I don't understand how she can be so resentful."
"Well, the ugly nerd changed the votes and cheated her out of the game. I think that's a good reason to be angry," said Justin, shrugging.
"Yes, but maybe he has his own circumstances. Maybe we should hear both versions," said Trent, putting his hands behind his head.
Bridgette scowled and put her hands in her hoodie's pockets. "Well, she was the only one that called Duncan out for bullying him, so it was a petty move."
"I didn't know Harold was a traitor," said Zeke covering his mouth.
"I think some people are so focused on revenge that they don't think about what they're doing or who they're hurting," said Bridgette, sighing.
Trent raised an eyebrow, "but the same can be said about Courtney right now, no?"
Bridgette gave Trent a dirty look, but he was actually right.
"Let's forget about this ugly mess and focus on more important matters, like me," said Justin making a beautiful smile. "Do you realize how good my legs look in this swimsuit?"
"I don't know. I mean they're fine, I suppose," said Zeke scratching his head. "But personally, I prefer Bridgette's legs."
Trent chuckled, Bridgette blushed, and Justin looked at him with wide eyes. "Are you blind? I mean, no offense but anyone can see who has the best legs among us."
"Excuse me?" Bridgette's blush turned into a frown. "Are you saying you have better legs than me?"
Justin rolled his eyes. "Sorry, but your legs tell me you don't know the meaning behind shower milk or leg highlighter."
Bridgette opened her mouth and closed it, not knowing what those products were. She then balled her fists. "Well, What I know is that you're a jerk!" After saying this, she started walking faster toward the resort.
"Wait Homie," said Zeke running behind her.
"What a sore loser. It's not my fault she doesn't take care of her legs," said Justin, shrugging.
Trent shook his head. "To be honest, you sounded like a jerk back there."
"Ugh, you too Trent?" asked Justin rolling his eyes.
"Don't be like that. I just think there was a better way to say it, especially coming from someone like you," said Trent, frowning.
Justin rubbed his chin. "You're probably right that Bridgette was probably hurt after hearing that from someone as handsome as me."
"You got it," said Trent smiling. It wasn't what he meant, but it was probably the best Justin could do. "So, apologize to her next time, so she can feel better."
"I'll do it. You know Trent, you're smarter than you look. I'm glad we're friends," said Justin, winking beautifully.
"Thanks?" replied Trent after being causally insulted.
"You're welcome," said Justin smiling.
Then Trent noticed he had forgotten his bag on the beach.
"Damn, I'll be right back," said Trent running back to the beach. "I forget my clothes on the beach."
"I would join you, but I already did more than enough exercise for one day," said Justin waving.
After Trent went away Justin made a wonderful smile. "That Trent is a good guy, but sometimes he can be a scatterbrain. I guess not everyone can be as smart as me."
And after saying this, he went back to the resort. Thanks to people like Katie, Sadie, Trent, and Beth, Justin's confidence was fine again. Maybe his elimination was an accident, and not that people didn't like him anymore. And that took a heavy burden off his shoulders.
The next day, Noah was eating in the cafeteria when Zeke entered the room and greeted him.
"Yoyoyo, Homie, what are you doing eh?" Said Zeke moving his arms like a rapper. "How unusual you aren't reading a book."
"Yes, I found this thing called newspaper, which was filled with words so I decided to try it instead of a book," said Noah in a snarky tone.
"AHA! That's sarcasm eh! I know because newspapers were invented in Ancient Rome in the 59 BCE, so there is no way you didn't know them," said Zeke pointing at him and smiling.
Noah closed the newspaper and sighed, "After 5 weeks together, I'm still unsure what to think about you."
"Thanks Homie," said Zeke making some clumsy finger pistols.
Suddenly Zeke was startled by some loud bangs that came from the kitchen.
"What's happening?" Zeke asked, looking at the kitchen with wide eyes.
"Martha is trying to repair the stove. Just ignore her," said Noah shrugging.
As they talked, Cody entered the kitchen, waving at them.
"Hello guys," said the brunette guy, making finger pistols.
Zeke looked at his fingers, wondering what the difference was between them. "Hi Codemeister."
"Hello Casanova," said Noah, closing his newspaper for a moment.
"Oh, stop teasing me," said Cody, frowning sadly. "By the way have you seen Beth? I think she's avoiding me."
Zeke and Noah shook their head, which made Cody sigh sadly.
"I was supposed to look for her with Trent, but he stood me up," Cody sighed. "Why is everyone giving me the cold shoulder?"
"I don't know, maybe it's because you look like a nerd, eh?" said Zeke, trying to sound cool.
Cody gasped, "what part of me looks like a nerd?"
"Everything? Homie, you're great getting girls, but the way you talk, your hairstyle, your yellow sweater, and that you always have a calculator in your pocket are red flags," Zeke said, nodding.
"Hey! calculators are really useful," replied Cody, frowning.
"Useful maybe, but also nerdy," replied Zeke, moving his arms like trying to rap.
Noah rolled his eyes before reading his newspaper again. "Ok, I need to add Zeke roasting Cody to my list of things I never thought I would see and didn't want to."
Zeke and Cody looked at the genius when Lindsay entered the cafeteria, waving happily at them.
"Hello guys, have you seen Tyler?" asked Lindsay sitting with them. "I can't find him."
The three guys shook their heads.
"Sorry Linds, I haven't seen him," replied Cody rubbing his neck. "By the way, is Beth with you?"
"No, maybe she's with Tyler," said Lindsay, putting a finger on her chin.
Noah then blanched, his eyes widening. "Guys, we need to gather everyone, NOW!"
Zeke and Lindsay gave him a perplexed look, while Cody seemed more worried.
"Why? What is happening?" asked the brunette guy.
"I have a bad feeling. No one has seen Beth or Tyler since yesterday right," said Noah, his voice trembling.
"I didn't see them yesterday, and the last time I saw Beth was the day before yesterday," said Cody, rubbing his chin.
"Me too, I haven't seen Beth since that day and Tyler since I arrived at the island," replied Lindsay, raising a hand like in school.
Noah gulped. "I hope I'm mistaken, but maybe they were kidnapped."
The contestants gathered in the cafeteria. They put together 4 tables and sat around, and Martha was with them. Noah stood up, looking at the present.
"Is everyone here?" asked Noah, frowning.
"Of course not," said Eva rolling her eyes." For someone so smart you suck at maths."
"Trent is not here yet, and Courtney," said Katie, counting with her fingers.
"Also Harold and Tyler," said Sadie raising a hand. "Now that I think about it, we haven't talked these past few days."
"That's because they were kidnapped," said Noah in a worried tone.
"WHAT?" All the present were shocked, except Lindsay, and Cody, who already knew.
Noah glared at Zeke, "Why are you gasping? You already knew about it."
"Because I still can't believe it, eh," said Zeke, folding his arms. "And I also wanted to feel like part of the group."
"Also, please don't forget Beth," said Cody rubbing his neck.
Both BFFFLs nodded. "Oh yes, Beth isn't here."
"Let's stop with the nonsense," said Martha, glaring at campers. "We're on a damn island in the middle of nowhere, so there is no way someone could kidnap them."
Noah sighed, "I wish that was true." He put a newspaper on the table.
Justin took it and after a glance, gave it to Bridgette. "The letter is too small. Please read it."
Bridgette gave him a dirty look, still remembering what happened yesterday, and read it aloud, her face blanching. "Psycho killer on the loose!"
"PSYCHO KILLER!?" shouted the presents.
"The authorities are looking out for a man dressed in a dark overall and a hockey mask, with a hook hand, and carrying a chainsaw. The last time he was seen was in the Lake Wawanakwa area, so it's recommended to be cautious when visiting that zone. He's considered extremely dangerous," Bridgette covered her mouth, her eyes wide as plates.
"Ha! Do you seriously believe there is a psycho killer in the resort?" asked Eva, raising a side of her unibrow.
Noah nodded. "We're missing 5 people already. I think it's safe to assume it isn't a coincidence."
"Maybe they're around the resort," said Eva, rolling her eyes.
"Then let's look for them again," Noah said, shrugging. "Only go always in groups. I hope we can find them, and this is just a coincidence, as Eva said."
But after 2 hours, they couldn't find any of the 5 missing campers. The atmosphere in the cafeteria was heavy.
"Ok, I give up. Maybe they were really kidnapped," said Eva, huffing. "So, what's the plan?"
"We'll put a trap and crush him like a bug!" shouted Martha, hitting her hand with her fist. "That will show that mo***rfu***r to not mess with us."
The campers looked at the intern. Some were surprised, and others were annoyed. Her small and princess-like looks didn't match her attitude and much less her vocabulary.
"It can be dangerous," said Sadie, looking at the ground.
"Yes, a psycho killer with a chainsaw and a hook sounds terrifying," said Katie, biting her nails.
Martha folded her arms. "Because it's much more secure to wait for him to hunt us one by one."
Everyone went silent. She had a point.
"Are you doing it to help or just because you want to take out your frustration about the stove on the killer?" asked Noah raising an eyebrow.
"Both," replied Martha shrugging.
Eva slammed the table and stood up. "Let's stop wasting time yapping and get that trap ready."
The contestants began to carry what they could to make the trap. They chose to make it on the beach next to the resort. Digging and carrying anything they could find that could be useful, including ropes, shovels, a gas tank, a table, some apples, and the carpet from Zeke's room.
"Do you think this will work?" asked Cody to Noah, looking worried at the beach.
"Of course not," replied Noah, shrugging. "But if we could trap a fuzzy beaver, maybe we'll get lucky again."
"What?"
But Cody's question remained unanswered as Noah supervised the trap. There was no way this would work, but it was the only think they could do.
People began to disappear when things seemed to calm down in the resort. Is it really a Psycho Killer on the loose? And can they capture him?
And yes, people began to disappear some episodes ago, but no one noticed them for different reasons until we reached this episode. Now some people mention them but always find an excuse for why they haven't met them. I wonder if they are really kidnapped?
And as always, thanks to all the readers that reviewed the episode. I hope you enjoyed this one too. If you also liked this episode or if you want to share a thought, please send a review. I love to know your opinions and predictions. Now let's reply to the last week's reviews:
danifan3000: Well, actually I added the ? At the end of his name as part of the joke, she calls him and wonders if his name is Tyler. I decided to play it like that because in episode 22 she remembers his name quite well.
I also hear that rumor about Lyler breaking up, but honestly, until there is mentioned in a tv series, I will casually turn a blind eye to it. But don't worry she will misremember almost every other person's name.
Guest: Yes, DJ is about to arrive, poor guy.
Metal Face: Yes, I must say Zeke and Bridgette are fun to write together. I'm happy you are enjoying them.
Total Simaniac: One of the main focus of the episode was Bridgette and Zeke friendship, as he tried to become closer to her, which ended with her joining the hunt.
And the island was dangerous but at least only Lester was hurt. Martha is still there I wonder for how long.
And about Chirs, you will find out eventually why he is there ;).
MatiasND: Yes, If the map was real or not it doesn't matter, they found something and may have some value. It also makes a great anecdote for everyone. And no, a normal Sasquatch wouldn't have fought Eva.
And Martha is there helping them agains the Psycho Killer, that surely is safe.
And also good eye, Tyler disappeared while facing the figure. You realized before Lindsay or Beth noticed it. Well done :D.
Thanks for reading and I hope you like it.
