CH 6

Jane called the school to let them know that Evan and Rose won't be in school for a few days because of the sudden death of a family member which they understood. Two hours later the four men return, at which time both Evan and Rose change clothes.

"The autopsy report that Eric Jackson died from an overdose of alcohol and drugs"

"Drugs" rose said in shocked

"Yes"

"but he doesn't take drugs, not even any medication" Jane said.

"It seems that there a lot you don't know about your son Mrs Jackson"

"Meaning" David asked

"Eric got a record for drunk driving. In Fact he got his license suspended a year ago for repeat drink driving, going through red lights, drag racing"

"We had no idea this was happening. If I had known about this I would have taken his car off him" David said They talked for a few more minutes before the cops left.

"We better start planning his funeral" Mr Jackson said Evan hug rose as she was going into shock.

Three days later there was a graveside funeral. None of Eric's mates showed up despite Rose calling them and her and Evan friends to tell them about Eric's death and when the funeral is. The only ones who showed up were family and all of Evan and Rose classmates and friends who showed up to support Rose since she was married to Eric.

"Some mates they are" Evan said queity to Rose as they walk back towards the limos

"Who? Eric friends, I agree. I think you know who your true friends are"

"i agree"

They all return back to the house for the wake. Rose was outside alone when Evan walk out and over to her passing her a drink

"thanks"

"Are you ok"

"I will be in time" she took a sip of her drink.

"Rose can i ask what you did with the wedding and engagement ring" she turns to him

"I gave them back, i put them on his finger before they close the lid this morning"

"ok, What do you want to do now"

"I don't know"

"Well i do" she turns to him and sees him pass a plate to her "Eat something please. I'm worried about you"

"Thanks Evan" she picked up a sandwich and bit into it.

Ten minutes later they return inside with an empty cup and plate in hand. Rose and Evan spoke to their friends and classmates thanking them before they left.

The next day was the reading of Eric will, he had two life insurance and they would go to his father like everything else he owns including shares he got from three different companies.

"John with the money and share i want you to give them to Rose" Daivd said

"Who Rose?"

"His wife"

"His wife, how long were they married for"

"Under a month, i can get a copy of there marriage license if you want"

"No need but are you sure it a lot of money"

"she deserves it and much more"

"Well what i can do is get papers sorted out so every thing go into your name then i'll sort out the paperwork for her to sign then it can be transferred into her name"

"that would be great thanks"

"It will take a couple of weeks"

"That's fine" David turned to Jane and put his hand into hers.

Two weeks later Rose showed up to the lawyer's office where she spoke to the family lawyer since he called her that morning. "Afternoon Rose, i won't keep you to long, i got some family papers for you to sign"

"Ok, what papers"

"it from Eric will"

"I don't want any thing from him"

"I know that, you just need to sign here" she pointed to where she has to sign. So she signed the papers.

"Great it will take a few days to sort everything out, you are now a rich widow Mrs Jackson"

"What?" she said, shocked.

"In the will everything went to David but since you are next of kin, Daivd ask me to sort out the paperwork so you can get his life insurances, something about she deserves it after every thing he put her through"

"I told him i want nothing"

"Well whatever happens David says you deserve it and my girl you should take it. David isn't the type to give anything from the family away"

"Yeah, I know that. I'm shocked"

"He must of noticed something special about you"

"I guess so. Is there anything else"

"that it"

"Ok, thank you" then she walked out of his office.

"She didn't ask how much she is going to be getting, she was in one hell of a shock," the lawyer said.

When she returned back to school Evan was there waiting for her. "Rose are you ok"

"Yeah, David giving me Eric life insurance"

"your joking"

"I'm not" he put his arm around her shoulders.

"Come on let me cheer you up"

"how"

"Prom meeting, what theme it should be for this year prom"

"Sure why not, what theme should it be"

"Good question, let's get going, here i got you a sandwich and drink" he pass them to her

"thanks Evan"

Two weeks later Rose went to get an update on her bank account when she saw how much was there. She was shocked by it then she remembered Eric life insurance money.

"Wow"

That night at the guest house Rose and Evan were studying. "Rose are you ok" she look up at him

"Yeah why"

"you been quiet tonight is everything ok"

"I went to the bank for an update on my account"

"didn't you get paid this week, if not i can give you some money"

"It's not that, Eric life insurance is. When Mr Mason said i'm a rich widow i thought it was a couple hundred thousand dollar"

"It wasn't, wasn't it."

"No, it was over thirty million dollar" Evan look at her in shock

"your joking, could it be a banking error"

"I check, it not"

"what are you going to do with it"

"I don't know, I'm shocked"

"Ok. I'm sure you will think of something. So ready to be tested" He said smiling at her

"Ok, go ahead," she said, smiling back.

Six weeks later Evan and Rose moved into Rose's parent place since they moved back in. David and Joan had a three car garage built in their large backyard with a batch built up on top. They gave it to Evan to use. It has four large bedrooms, a bathroom with extra toilet, a kitchenette plus a large living room games room. There is a patio with sliding folding doors and two exit stairs.

There are large queen size beds in all four rooms with draws. There's a large pool table, a cornered couch with a coffee table. Large TV DVD player and stereo. There is a jug, with cup, plates, microwave and beer fridge. When Evan and Rose look at it

"wow mum dad but how"

"Mr Watson gave me a promotion, he was planning on telling me the day he found out what Eric was really up to"

"Ok but the money"

"I got the loan after Mr Watson said he would be garture so we wouldn't lose this place. So with that and money you gave us we decided to have this done for you and your friends to visit and have studies up there without us around."

"thanks mum dad" rose said giving them a hug

"but Rose you will be living in the house"

"I wouldn't have it any other way" they all laugh.

"What do you think Evan"

"It's awesome, great place for privacy as well"

"and when the family get together" rose said

"That's true, come and take a look inside," Joan said.

They walk in side to see the new kitchen "wow mum it awesome"

"it amazing" Evan said

"We happy with it and it got a breakfast bar"

"This is awesome" rose said

"Take a look at the bathroom" they walk down and open the door.

"Wow since the bath and wall gone it makes the room a lot bigger" rose said

"that it has"

"Question what if someone needs to use the loo and some one in the shower" Evan asked Dave and Joan smile

"We put a second toilet in it in the wash house"

"Oh"

"Rose check out your room" they walk down where Rose open the door

"Oh wow mum" she saw her old room done up in pale pink walls and she got a double size bed since before it a single bed since she was the only daughter out of six kids and the baby of the family.

"Mum dad i love it"

"We knew you would so you can spend the remaining weeks in here"

"This is awesome" She gave them both a hug.

"Since you both moved in here how about we go out to dinner to celebrate" Dave said

"Why not," Rose said smiling.

Two weeks later it was prom night Evan and Rose were looking forward to the night. Evan decided to surprise Rose by going out and getting a haircut since he got rock star type long shoulder length hair since it was a fashion thing for teenage boys his age. That night When Evan walked inside he saw Dave there waiting. He turn when he heard Evan walked in and was shocked when he saw what he look like

"wow Evan you cut your hair"

"Yeah i thought it was about time"

"It suits you"

"thanks, is Rose ready yet"

"almost Joan in her room helping her"

"Ok, Ah Mr Watson there something i want to ask you"

"there someone here to see you"

"Who" He turn to see who it was "mum"

"oh Evan you look handsome in your suit" she stepped ford and gave him a hug. "I miss you" she cupped his face.

"I miss you mum. Dose…"

"No, he doesn't know I'm here. Joan keep me up to date about you and tonight, are you excited"

"I am, mum and I'm happy that your here also, are you ok, you don't look to good"

"I'm fine now i know you are going to be ok"

"mum what wrong"

"not tonight, tonight is your prom night"

"I'm worried about you mum"

"I know you are"

"so you know why i left"

"Yes i did i was angry for what Reg did to you and people know when word got around and Reg is angry because somehow it got back to the big wigs about him beating you up and you leaving. Because of that, he might not get his promotion"

"that all he cares about mum his dam promotion and his job"

"I know dear, excuse me" she walked out of the room to the laundry room where the toilet is.

"I'm worried about mum, i've never seen her so sick before"

"she been to the doctors"

"ok"

"So What is it that you wanted to ask me Evan" Evan pull out a box from his pocket and open it

"I would like your permission to marry Rose" the step ford looking at the ring then to Evan and smile as he shook his hand

"you got my blessing Evan, i know you love her and would protect her the best you can"

"thanks"

"nice ring, that must of set you back a bit"

"Been saving for months and Mr Watson gave me some when I was doing some work on the farm over the weekend when Rose was working"

"she would love it"

"I know she would"

"when are you going to purpose"

"When I'm ready" Then he looks at the ring before closing the box and putting it in his pocket not knowing that Laura heard the whole thing. She walks back out and over to them while putting on a brave face.

"She ready, is Evan there"

"Yes he is," Dave said.

Then they saw Joan walk in and was shocked to see what Evan looks like then she turns when Rose walks into the living room. Both Rose and Evan were shocked when they saw each other. Dave took a photo of their shocked looks "wow, Rose you look beautiful"

Rose was wearing a light pink strapless closed fitting lined, flared, boned dress, floor length of interfaced bodice, princess seams, foundation, inside belt, dropped waist and a shawl over her arms. Her hair is up and he could see her wearing the locket he got for her sixteenth birthday.

"wow Evan your hair"

"you like it"

"I love it and the tux" He was wearing a black tux with white shirt and bow tie. He opened the box and got the pink causarage out and pinned it to her dress.

"Photos," Joan said.

They put their arms around each other as they smile for the camera. When a number of them were taken including them kissing it was time since the limo arrived. They said goodnight before leaving in the limo.
