Week later two feds walk into her room "Has something happened to Jim"
"No he is fine as far as we know. We need you help"
"with what" one of them passed her a file. She opens it up and read what it said
"GD Securities… Garth Davidson. Private security firm…. Hires the best and ex navy and sas men." She read everything about and Garth profile. She closes the file. "Ok what is it that you need my help with"
"We notice in the past six months the contrast he has with number of pleasure crafts and smaller ships"
"I've read that there a but coming"
"We need you help in proving that he and some of his men have been shooting up surtain boats, wounding people, acting like pirates and ignoring boats who in trouble"
"so you need someone who can be your eyes and ears"
"Yes can you help us"
"come by tomorrow and i'll give you my answer" they pick up the file
"Ok Tomorrow" then they walk out of her room. MacGyver sat back and thought about it for the rest of the day.
The next day when the feds return "i thought about it and I'll do it on one condition,"
"what that"
"Having Hammersley as a backup if things go south agree"
"Agreed"
"Good now this is what i got in mind just in case this garth davidson does a background check on me. What could be temporarily put on my file that i left the navy for medical reasons, like leg wound and wasn't clear for duty cause fail fitness test" she looks at them both
"Well you do have a leg wound" she smiled and nodded
"Well"
"that will work"
"Great, you guys get the ball rolling because I'll be out of here in three days"
"that will give us time to get things set up" MacGyver smile
"Great"
Three days later MacGyver left the hospital and went home. She saw the advertisement for the hiring for well trained people. That the feds put in the paper. So she got into her car and drove to the building where she parked and got out and walked over and through a large door where she saw men in military clothing doing different training.
"Hi can i help you" she turn around
"Ah yeah i'm looking for Garth Davidson"
"that me what can i help you with"
"you looking for qualified personnel to work for your security firm"
"I'm happy to hire but I hire men but how did you know"
"so you saying women can't do a man job mr davidson" She said as she showed him the day paper.
"I'm sure you can but sorry" he looked down at the paper "I didn't put this in" then he checked and saw it on that morning paper. He passed it back to her.
"Sorry but I don't advertise in the paper" he turn and walk away when she said
"I am a retired chief petty officer June Roff VC, I did tour in iran in two thousand and two, quifiled helman, chief, medic, I've even work with the SAS number occasions in the past ten years got combat training, black belt in three diffrent martial arts and a qualified snipper and sharp shot, received more medals that anyone my age in history and reach the rank of chief petty officer at the age to twenty eight" she said yelling in command tone as he walks away then stop like the others did and listen.
He turned around and looked at her as she stepped ford giving him two sheets of paper "you can have me check out if you want to Mr Davidson, my number is on the paper if you are interested of having me do any test you got for me to pass" then she turn and walk the same way she came.
He looked down at the two sheets of paper. One is a photo of her in her uniform with her name, rank, list of metals, and her qualifications and in her hand writing her phone number. The second sheet is her honor discharge letter leaving on medical grounds because the arrow damaged nerves and tended in her right leg and wouldn't pass the fitness test.
When he finishes reading everything he turns and looks around. "Crane"
"Yes sir" he ran over to where Garth is
"Call your mate at the SAS see if he can find out about this women" he pass the two sheet to the guy
"I'll call him now"
"Use my office. And find out if she is a VC"
"Yes sir" then he walked over and into Garth office where he made the call while Garth went to check on a couple of things when Crane walked over to him
"what did you find out"
"She is a true hero, he knows her and what she said is true. She was shot in her right leg by a crossbow last month"
"so she is for real then"
"Yes sir and she did receive the victoria cross few months ago after risking her life to save over two hundred lives"
"thank, return back to what you were doing." then he walks away.
The next day June was at home when her cell phone rings "June Roff hello"
"June it Garth Davison, we can you come in for try out"
"I'll be there in half an hour"
"See you then" then she hung.
Then she made a quick call "It's me MacGyver, he took the bait, I'll let you know when I'm in…. Will do" then she hung up.
Half an hour later she walks in to see Garth and six of his men there. "June ready" She walked over and put her bag down then she turned around and took her top off then her track pants so she was wearing a short and sports bra top. She turns around and steps ford. Garth look her over to see the amount of scars she got including the one above her knee where the arrow went in
"Gee, June no wonder you a hero, how the leg"
"I still got it, so are you and your men going to look at me all day or are we going to get started," she said with her hands on her hips
"ok let's get started" He tested her with his six top men from shooting to hand to hand, including a fitness test.
He was shocked that she passed every test he got including his obsercourse which he had her up against his two fastest men in which she just beat them by half a meter. When completed the obsercouse all the others were there watching her work through it no problems till she collapsed at the end and rubbing her leg
"Are you ok June"
"Yeah, got to remember i'll still healing and getting used to the strange sensation in my leg is something i gotta get use to"
"Well i can tell you now you impress me and it would be great to have you join us, Cran, Johnson help June up and carry her in side" they walk over and lift her up and try to carry her in side
"Stop, this is what you do" they stop and she tells them what to do.
Then they could carry her with ease back inside where one of the guys got two seats for her. She sat in one and raise her leg up on the other "thanks can one of her get my bag please"
"sure" one of them got her bag and clothes then returned with it. She open the bag got got a bag out
"is there a microwave here"
"Yeah in the kitchen"
"Great can you put this in for ninety second, be careful it will be hot so hold it here" she showed him
"when you get it out of the microwave"
"sure" she passed him the bag then he walked away with it.
She got bottled water and a bottle of tablets out when Garth saw what she was doing "no drug are aloud"
"Even if they are prescribe meds" she showed him the bottle "What these for"
"Pain in my leg, I only take them when I have to like today after your test"
"You done pretty well with your leg wound"
"thanks" she took the two tablets and water when the guy returned. He passed the bag to her.
"That is hot" then she put it on her leg then she pick up portable device and put it on top and turn it on as she let out her breath
"It a portable low vibrating massager, with this and the heating pad it help any information around the soft tissue since the wound is still healing"
"does it help" Garth asked
"Yes it does" then she reaches over and pull something out and toss it to garth when he holds it up some of the guys close by looking at it
"It an arrow head" one of them said
"Yes it is from a crossbow, that cause damage to my leg"
"No wonder you leg got messed up, your bloody lucky" Garth said
"Yes I am"
Few minutes later she stops the vibrator and removes it and the bag. Then she stood up slowly and walk around "Lot better than before but it will be awhile for me to fully recover"
"You go home and rest your leg."
"when do i start"
"will you able to join us on Thursday"
"This Thursday, sure, where and when"
"come here so we can you you fitted in uniform" she bend over and pick up a folded piece of paper and hand it to him
"My DBUN sizes including boot sizes if that helps"
"Yes it does"
Great ok met us at zero six hundred"
"I'll be here, is it a day job"
"five day job"
"Ok see you on thursday" she put her track pants and top on then she put her things in her bag then picked them up.
She shook his hand "See you thursday"
"alright" then she slightly hobbled out to her car then drove home.
When she got home she called the feds "I'm in, start Thursday's five day mission… I will" then she hung up.
On Thursday morning MacGyver arrived at the headquarters come training center just before six in the morning. She saw Garth and five men loading things up in the back of two humvees. She got out and got her sea bag from the back seat then closed and locked her door. Then she walked over to the two humvies
"Morning" she said
"Morning June"
"Need any help"
"nope we just finish" Garth said
"Ok so what next"
"Get in the passenger seat, here you can put your bag in here" Garth said
"ok" she put her bag in the back where the boxes are then got into the passenger seat and waited. Then one of the men got into the back seat.
She waited for a few minutes when Garth got into the driver's seat and started the motor. They talk till they reach the mariner and get out. They all carry boxes and their bags down and onto the boat. It took three trips. Garth shows MacGyver her cabin and where everything is.
"Garth, where you first aid kit"
"Here" he showed her it.
She opens it and looks through it shaking her head "It no good have you got another one?"
"no what wrong with it" she pick up a tube a cream
"Expired two years ago, some of these expire from two months to three years. If one of your team get injured this stuff wont work"
"that all i got and no shops are open at this hour to replace them"
"Give me a set of keys and let me go back to my car and i'll get my kit out, we can use it for this trip"
"ok, johnson you drive June here back to headquarters"
"Yes sir"
"Make it quick"
"Yes sir" Then they left and headed back to the headquarters where MacGyver got her first aid box then returned with it.
When garth saw the size of it he was shocked "blood hell we could do with one of those"
"We talk about that when we return"
"Ok, June care to show me what you can do, take her out"
"ok" they went up onto the bridge where she does what she normally does if she was on hammersley.
She made sure all the ropes were taken care of before starting the engines then she slowly headed out. Garth watched what she was doing till they were out at sea. After telling her which way to go she charges the course direction and speed then they are on their way. MacGyver got talking to the other over the five days.
She learns that their job is to escort a billionaire boat from Papua New guinea to Darwin. Then they return back to Cairns. When they did he gave them a day off then back to training. MacGyver wrote up her report about the trip, the name of the boat they were escorting, the weapons and ammo they got on board. Everything. Then she sent it to the feds.
Two days later she showed up at eight in the morning to do some training when Garth called her into his office. "You wanted to see me"
"Yes it about the first aid kit"
"you need help in that area"
"that and meals"
"sure, first the first aid kit, may I use your computer"
"sure but why"
"I'll show you if i may" he stood up and let her sit down.
She brought goggles then type in what she is looking for. He watches what she is doing.
"Ok for boat your size, what you max on personal including yourself"
"fourteen"
"ok" she look through the different pack "the best ones I would recommend is this one" she pointed "and this one" she pointed
"you really think I need them both"
"Yes and" she did some typing
"these gloves, not only on your boat but here. And" she scrolled up "This would be good for the kitchen, plus getting extra banadages also helps"
"Ok if you think it the best"
"It is and also get some of these packs" she show him dressing packs
"Great idea" she stood up and step a side
"As for meals, we can talk later"
"sure you can return back to what you were doing before"
"ok" then she walked back to what she was doing before.
