To Face The Past

Disclaimer: I don't own Ranma 1/2, I don't claim to. That honor belongs to Rumiko Takahashi.
She laid there watching the two newborn infants laying beside her in bassinets. They were the only things she had now. Her family would not understand. Her fiancee didn't love her and definitley wouldn't want her now. Everyone hated her. Hearing her daughter start to whine the young mother gently picked her up. Soon she would have to decide what to do with them. She was only seventeen, on the run from her past, no job, homeless, and with two newborn infants. It would make it easier to hide, anyone looking for her wouldn't be looking for a teen mother with two children. looking into the brown eyes of her daughter the young mother smiled softly." I'll figure something little one, I can't let you go." Gently kissing her daughter on the forehead Ranma laid her down and watched her children sleep.
Ten Years Later
Ranma looked around the town he had once considered home, still did on occasion. It hadn't changed much in the nearly eleven years since he had left. Familiar patterns of repaired cement and repaired buildings brought back memories of the many fights and training exercizes he had participated in as a teen. Furikan High was still there, full of memories of the year he had attended school there. Memories blended between the past and present as he saw children playing happily in a nearby park. In his mind he saw his twins at age three playing in a park very similar to this one, them building sandcastles in the sandbox, his daughter at age four copying his movements as he did a kata as her brother chased his friend around the swings. He never expected to come back to this place, this life. It was only for his children that he had even considered returning in the first place. It was for them that he was here now walking the streets of Nerima and heading to the exact place he left. The children deserved to know their family. They deserved so much better than he had growing up.
He had never expected to be a parent, In either of his forms. Growing up, his life had been the Art. As a teenager it hadn't changed. Marriage and a family had never been a big part in his dreams of the future, especially after Jusenkyo. Being forced to switch genders with water had made him sure he would never get married or have a family, no one would want to be married to a freak. Then his father brought him to Nerima, and he had started accumulating fiancees and enemies faster than he ever thought possible. Then came the events that led to his departure from Nerima. The start of his new life. His children were his life.
Breaking from his thoughts, Ranma looked up at the building that he had considered home. It hadn't changed at all he thought as the sound of a fight reached his ears. A feeling of dread washed over him as he walked closer to the fight. The feeling growing as he saw the participants.
"DADDY!"
Instinctively Ranma bent down to catch the four year old running towards him. Giving the girl a hug and lifting her up, Ranma looked up to see the shocked faces of his past and the guilty ones of his twins.
